For example, after finding out what was needed, Dave Welsh called us that day to let us know that he had found a computer and the price was even a little lower than he quoted. We have had great experiences with them and Robin in the office is very pleasant and gave messages to Dave for me. He got back to me immediately to let me know when he could come check on the problems.
Description of Work: We have a surface drip septic system that has to be maintained by us and checked by the county annually. David Brantley and Sons provide a yearly service contract that help us maintain it correctly. The computer system went out and we had to replace it. Also, they semi annually check the whole system including septic field, sand filter, computer, and septic tanks.

+ -1 moreSummary of the above: Work done as promised on time and on budget. Very good at keeping me informed of what was happening when, excellent at responding appropriately to emergencies, courteous and works well with others, respected by other tradesmen.
Description of Work: They have done work several times: 1. 1st quarter 2012 $4100, 2. mid 2012 $0, and 3. about 2 months ago $235. 1. We had an expansion to our septic system laid out and Brantley & Sons implemented it on time and at the estimated cost. One problem encountered was the need for a larger pump on the lift station and the current code called for a separate circuit for the alarm and the pump. They got an electrician and all was done; running this circuit was my obligation and not part of the original estimate . Throughout the planning, engineering, implementation and county approval they we’re very responsive and kept me informed. If they said something, it happened. 2. Another problem cropped up later when the septic field had liquid waste overflowing from the manifold (a distribution box when the waste from the septic tank is pumped into a box uphill and then “split” with gravity feed into 4 separate lines of the septic field. It turned out that one of the OLD lines (not one of the two they had just added) had a tree root growing into it and the root was blocking the flow. They found the problem, removed the blockage, and all was well. No cost as they had just worked on the the system and not caught it – not clear if they could have/should have detected it. Again very responsive, this time to an “emergency.” 3. The third time, septic backed up in the house and they we’re called out to check the septic tank and lines to the manifold as well as the line from the house to the tank. They did a routine pumping out of the tank, checked the lines and all was OK. Again, fast response to an “emergency” and the job was done well. It turned out the problem was back under the concrete in the house and a plumber came out and found/fixed it. Both the plumber and Brantley were called as the problem was unknown and both alternatives were started simultaneously; unfortunately the problem was not “Brantley’s” but this was obviously unknown and thus we “wasted” money on the needless path.

+ -1 moreThey did a really good job. They are located nearby, which is convenient. I find them very professional. They were able to come in and get the job done. They once dug into our circular driveway when they could have dug to the side of it. They said they didn't realize it was my driveway and I had to pay a considerable amount to have it repaired. And no attempts were made to reimburse me or help with repairs.

+ -1 moreI called because my pipes were backing up everytime it rained outsite. They called me back and had someone sent out the next day. I explained the issue and they said it is most likely the filter on my septic that needs to be replaced. He replaced the filter but left my yard a mess. And it rained that day so I was left with tore up grass and a mud pit for a few days before I could get it smoothed out again. Needless to say, the issue still occurs when it rains and it may not even have anything to do with the septic system. Also, the person was given a credit card number but supposively he never ran the charge and lost/blakced out the card number. So, I had to deal with providing the payment again - once I made sure the charge didn't show up on my original card's statement.
Description of Work: Changed the filter in my septic tank.

+ -1 moreThe work they did was very good but one thing I noticed is that they cut my cable wire even though I had flags there and warned them not to put their big machines where the flags were. I overheard my contractor talking to them because the price that the quoted us was not the same price; they basically increased the price because they said something they had to do cost more. It was actually a subcontractor increasing his price to the general contractor who tried to pass it along to us. He ended up not doing it. They had the best price of anybody else I quoted but they ripped up my yard and told us it was our problem. It turned out to be more expensive than I expected.

We tried everything we knew to try from hot water and baking soda to using a snake to clean the pipes. Nothing worked so after doing some research on Angie's List we opted to go with David Brantley and Son and have our septic tanks cleaned.
Description of Work: We were having problems with smells coming from drains and the cause was diagnosed quickly and the fix implemented immediately. Technichan was professional, helpful and projected a very friendly attitude.

+ -1 moreSimple and sweet, these guys were good to work with and took a human approach to minimize my pain. I was selling a home that failed septic inspection due to collapse laterals. The inspector who represented the buyer wanted to do the work at $150 for each 10ft of replacement. That would cost me $4500 for 3-100ft laterals. I then called many other contractors and settled with David Brantley and Sons Inc. I first talk to Corry who scheduled me the following Friday. Three of their crew members came and I even received a call few minutes before they arrived. They spent at least 45 minutes digging and inspecting and found more collapse areas. Based on their findings, they gave me the option to replace the initial collapse areas (about 30ft total) or that they should come back the following Monday with heavy machine to dig quicker for further inspection. I chose the latter; because I wanted to make sure all was ok before handing over the property to the new owner. They came back on Monday as promised and were there by 7:30am and took time to dig at least 3 more areas to discover more collapse lines. Given the multitudes of collapse areas, I decided to replace all 3-100ft laterals. By 8:15 am, they called and receive verbal authorization to proceed from the county inspector. By 11:00 am they had finished replacing all the lines. By 11:30am, county inspector was out to inspect and give his blessings. Short of the long story is that the work went very smoothly. And to reduce my pain, they charged me less than anyone had quoted for the same amount of work and even forgave the cost for the time spent the previous Friday digging. They were personable and took time to explain what they needed to do. Needless to say that I will use them again and recommend them to others.

+ -1 moreResponded promptly to phone call about septic tank alarm on a low-pressure system. Provided a more reasonable and accurate quote than others for pump replacement. Crew arrived on time and worked quickly and professionally. They pumped out and cleaned the effluent and sewage holding tanks. After changing effluent pump, noticed that the sensor wiring to alarm panel was worn and not working reliably. Gave a reasonable quote for digging out and replacing wiring and came in under the estimate even though the work took a bit longer due to having had to dig trench deeper than expected to get to the wiring. Very pleased with the work performed and the professionalism of the crew. Wiring that had been poorly spliced together with electrical tape by a technician a few years ago was redone using much more professional splices with crimping tools, solder, and heat shrink. Pleasantly surprised that the overall amount charged was about $100 less than quoted when the additional wiring problem was found.
Description of Work: Replaced failed effluent pump, sensors, and old wiring to alarm panel. Cleaned out tanks.
