I am very pleased with the work. Everything was clearly explained and I learned a lot about my garage door and future maintenance. After the work, the door moved so much more quietly and smoothly than before.

the entire door broke within weeks of service! granted, it was not in great shape. but as such...perhaps the technician should have recommended against even doing what he did...?

They came to my house, left me samples when I wasn't home, and scheduled the work. They were much more reasonable than the two other people I got estimates from and the quality of the doors was better. When my parents' garage door spring broke, I called them to repair it and they came out the next day. I would definitely use them again.

It went well. The technician was punctual and very professional. He explained what he would be doing. He completed the job in less than one hour. Upon completion of the work he gave me an overview of what he had done and gave me some pointers on how to preserve the rollers and keep the door well lubricated.

This is going to get long winded. Buckle up. Round One: I bought and redeemed 2 Living Social deals in March, one for each garage door ($163). The left door was not closing all the way on one side, letting in frogs, leaves and assorted nasties, not to mention plenty of cold air. This same door did not fit snuggly along the top of the frame either, also creating a problem place. The right door was super noisy in one particular pulley. I had replaced the closer myself not long before, so that was at least ok. The technician (I totally know his name, will redact it here for obvious reasons) came to the house, listened to the issues, and went about his business. He finished with his work after a time, replacing all the old metal rollers on two garage doors with newer, quiet nylon wheels is no small thing. That work seemed perfectly reasonable, indeed the door travel was quieter. The right door was improved with lubrication and new wheels. The left door, however, proves to be the sticky wicket in the story. The wheels were replaced, and I brought the bottom and top gaps to his attention. He said, to the effect, that the tracks and the door were too old to balance properly. He'd happily price out new doors ($500+ a piece!!!!!) He was adamant, politely, that he would not attempt to repair these gaps. He stated that too tight a fit was problematic, and that a seal should be accomplished with rubber gaskets, and not with the door+frame. At the time, I was pretty bummed that I had paid a professional to fix the problem, I may have even paid for parts to fix it. But alas, no, he was just NOT going to fix it. I had the distinct impression he had better places to be, and frankly wasn't too put off seeing the back of him. During the following weeks and months, a few things happened. One: I refused to accept that the left door could not be adjusted, so I found out how and did it myself. It was easy and took 10 minutes. I had to loosen the cable on the one side, which then lowered the door more on that side and sealing the gap. Personally triumphant yet ultimately disappointing. He didn't do the work because he didn't want it to be pinned on him if something that went wrong. Really classy, guy. He's the pro who felt either he couldn't be bothered with such a problem or was too afraid of being called out on his BS. Maybe the company has a policy against doing this work as it can only lead to other problems. Or I hadn't paid enough. Either way I was left with a big problem I had paid them to fix and for whatever reason, they/he did not. Pathetic. Two: The right door started violently racking left and right during closing, a significant enough percentage of the time it was even reopening during the process of closing. I came home a few times and the door was open as it had failed closing to begin with. FULL DISCLOSURE: I should have called sooner if I had had a problem with the initial service. I had felt that since I had been the one to fix the issue so blatantly avoided by them the first time, and felt properly ran-around and bamboozled, God knows what they'd do the next time. That said, in fairness I should have been straight with them and contacted the office immediately with my issues and let them try to remediate in a more timely manner. However, I did not do this and it could be argued I brought on Round Two myself. Round Two: A few weeks ago I'd had enough. The gap was still present along the top of the left door, and the right door was still flaky. I was going to write a scathing review in Angie's List ending at the above line and that would be that. I'd feel better but I'd still have kloogy garage doors. I decided I'd give them a chance to redeem themselves and write the final chapter themselves. I called the office, and as diplomatically as I could muster, explained the situation as calmly as I could. I asked what the next step would/could be. The individual taking the call said they'd send another tech out to evaluate. I STRESSED that I did not want the same tech who came out the first time. We later booked a date/time and you'll never guess who pulled into my driveway yesterday. The same dude. Unreal. I'm not even sure how I got through my concerns with him with a straight face. Life is funny that way, I guess. He acknowledged my frustration, which was nice enough. So he went about drilling here and banging there, hitting this and smacking that. For the right door, he says, you have the track mounting screw heads in the path of the wheels, causing the problem. I said, huh, look at that. Turns out, no. It took me 20 seconds to see, yes, it is indeed that section of the track causing the issue, but no its not screw head related. The track was bent in that spot and pinching the wheels coming down. Good thing I was there to see it instead of the paid professional, I always say. This guy. I said, hey, I think its the track. He says, No, its the screws. I said, dude, bend the track back with your tools and I bet it will work. It did. Me = incredulous. The left door, I asked him, hey, can you get that door closer to the frame to seal up the gap? And here we go again. No, you shouldn't to that, you should leave a gap, blah blah you are free to fix it yourself, I'm not helping you. I said, fine, whatever. Seriously guy, get off my property (said mentally) So, he leaves, I'm set to write a critical but mostly positive review about a company getting through a difficult situation and in the end providing the customer with most of what he wanted. Then I get a call from the manager today who says he's sending me a bill for the parts for yesterday's work. $50. Incredible stones on this company. Here we are, the end of the tale. These guys had a few chances to make it right, and left an awful taste in my mouth. What's pretty funny is the work wasn't really all that expensive, in the end. Was it worth all this bad will? And hey, plenty of people are loving the company up and down Angie's List, and good on em. I can say I'll never take a call from them again and happily refer all family and friends to every competitor they have. And you can tell him I sent you. UPDATE: It just gets better and better. Somewhere between the posting of this review and today, the $50 follow-up visit invoice somehow became $68.50. They're getting everything they can from me on my way out the door. Fortunately for me, I have recourse in the for of online reviews, of which I have a few more to do (yelp, google, etc) I imagine, nay, expect there will be a Provider follow up attempting to pin the blame for the quality of their "service" on me somehow, and of course that's part and parcel of the game. You know what, feel free to use the company if you wish, and they very well may end up fitting the bill for what you need. BUT BE WARNED. If you find them lacking in any way and are left wanting, you can't say I didnt tell you so.
Description of Work: Replaced rollers on 2 garage doors and related lubrication. Provided impressive run-around and up-sell to fix important problem with door. Came back to fix problem created by them as a gesture of good faith. Provided me with additional bill.

this customer purchased two living social deals which we serviced 03/20/14 which was roller change out on two doors. i am very sorry this customer feels he was cheated out of having his two doors completely redone for what he paid. he was tolled the problems could be fixed but an additional charge would be added. he declined. on 10/02/14 seven months later, we went back out to his residence at his request and replaced two worn out pulleys which he was charge $9.00 each and because he was a living social customer we discounted the $85.00 labor charge to $50.00. so in closing I feel we did him a very good job. had he authorized this service at the first it would have saved him a great deal of displeasure. on closing I can assure you that the changing of new rollers did not create this problem.

The technician was on time and courteous. He attempted to align my door which was leaking air and out of alignment. The door was the same when he left ( I assume it can't be properly aligned after being slightly dinged by someone hitting it ). After he replaced the rollers and left the job I noticed black greasy handprints all over both inside and outside of the door edges. It was difficult and time consuming to scrub off black grease from a white garage door.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were very good. They couldn't do everything that needed to be done for the Big Deal price. They were supposed to call me back with a price for the remaining project and I never heard back from them. The gentleman that came out to do the work seemed to be very thorough and he explained everything that he was doing, what things needed to be done and why things were the way they were. It was ongoing maintenance based on the garage doors we had. It was very educational and helpful because we had just bought the house. He was very patient with all my questions.

We recently moved into a house with a garage - our first garage ever. A few months later the door was making horrible sounds so we snagged the AL deal from AAGD for a tuneup. They came out and found that the rollers were very old and shot - basically what we were hearing was metal on metal. My wife was there for the service and they explained very professionally to her what was happening, replaced the rollers and then showed her how to lube & maintain them in the future. She was very pleased.

What a wonderful professional they sent out. After meeting first with Precision Doors - and getting the hard sell, I called All about Garages, and am so pleased I did. The cost for the motor (lightning killed the old one) was 20%+ less than Precision - and the springs which I bought 2 years ago were not, as Precision said - 'bad' - but perfectly good. Tuning the big door up, adding the new motor, and replacing worn out runners, etc - about $600 - not the $1100. quoted by Precision!! So do call All About Garages - NOT Precision!!
Description of Work: Checked both garage doors, installed one new motor; new accessories (I don't know all the names) and spent time teaching us how to use everything.
