Eli called and showed up earlier than I was expecting which was great! He explained everything and it was fixed in no time. The service was great. Our refrigerator had stopped cooling, and they were able to come out within 48 hours, diagnose the problem, and get the parts rush ordered. The fridge was repaired a few days later and has been working great ever since. The oven part (a large cooling fan in the back of the unit) took a little bit longer to be delivered, and required two servicemen to work on it (due to its weight), but as soon as the part came in, they called to schedule a time, showed up on time, and got the part installed within an hour. Everything is working great now!
Description of Work: Repaired our just-out-of-warranty (14 months old) refrigerator, and our 12-year-old in-wall combo convection oven/microwave.

My water heater that i purchased from advance 3 years ago quit working, the water heater itself was still under warranty but the parts inside were not so I wasnt happy with the quality of the water heater. The plumber that came out was great, he replaced thermostats and returned the next day when the water heater started tripping the breaker, turns out it was the bottom element going out, overheating thermostats and thus tripping the breaker. At least that was the nontechnical explanation. Water heater is doing good now, no complaints.

Advanced Appliance Service advertises 24 hour emergency service. Took 40 hours to show up to repair a plumbing leak. Two men. They had one very small dropcloth to protect floors, kitchen counters etc. . Certainly not adequate. When I questioned their protecting my property, they left, sat in their truck for about 30 minutes. When I asked what was going on, they advised that I had to sign a waiver to release their company of all responsibility, liability and costs that THEY might incur accessing the ceiling area and repairing the water leak. They never even looked in the ceiling for the leak.. My assessment: Advanced did not really want to do the job. Their technicians probably were not competent in how to perform the work. It was apparant the company would not stand behind their work and had to require a waiver to attempt to repair the leak. Most unprofessional company I have ever had the unpleasantness to contact.

Took 3 separate service calls to diagnose the problem. The issue was exacerbated because each time we contacted them it took 2 days to get someone out. So in the end we waited almost 2 weeks for resolution. 5 months later we had another issue caused by the way they performed the repair. In addition we have a contract with them to service our system and they make little effort to follow-up and perform the service.
Description of Work: Had a contract with them for Heat and A/C called during the summer because a/C was not working.

When I bought my first house and first had contact with Advanced they were wonderful. Prompt, Professional and inexpensive. It is with great sadness I say that I will not use them any more. I have already paid for a maintenance contract which lasts several more years and I am not going to have them do the maintenance. Every recent contact has had problems. I called the home warranty company on Tuesday 2/10 because the refrigerator was not working. Advanced was assigned and got in touch with me. They said they would be out on Thursday 2/12. They can no longer schedule around my schedule, so I arranged for my tenant to be home and gave her a check for the service fee. I gave Advanced my tenant's phone number. They said they would call her first thing in the morning with a two hour window and then call her back 30 minutes before arrival. I told them to call me if there was a problem. They did not call her on the morning of 2/12, nor did they call me. They called me at about 2:30 pm and told me they could not do the repair that day and could they come the next day. I said I was unavailable until after 2:30 pm, but please call my tenant and see if they could schedule with her. They had lost her number and I was driving so I said I'd have to call them back with her number. I called them back about 3:00 pm. About 3:30 pm my tenant had not heard from them and called them. They told her they could not come and asked if she were available the next day. She was not. However, Advanced did not call me to let me know until Friday 2/13 at about 1:30 pm. At this point my tenant had been without refrigeration for 3 days. She called a different repair service. I called Advanced and told them I had a bad experience and asked if they would like to know about my dissatisfaction. They told me I hadn't provided the tenant's phone number and called me a liar when I tried to explain I had provided it twice. They wanted to talk to me, but were not interested in why I was dissatisfied as shown by talking over me when I was trying to explain. Since it was clear they were not really interested in my feedback, I hung up. I will not use them again. My experience with the maintenance contract has been that the furnace will be working fine, they will come for the maintenance and then the furnace or AC will stop working. The last time this happened was 8/28/14, but has happened several times. They eventually got it fixed each time, but not before telling me that it would cost me a lot extra. Each time it was working fine until they came out. That being the case, I would rather abandon the maintenance contract rather than allow them access.
Description of Work: This is a review of several services over the last year or two. $530 is the amount I have paid Advanced Appliance over the past 2 years. I have used them mainly through the home warranty so they have actually been paid more. I have used them to repair a drain line, fix one stove and one refrigerator, do repairs on AC and on a furnace. I have a maintenance contract with them on a furnace they installed so I've also dealt with them on that.

We purchased our home in Aug 2013, which came with a home warranty to covering the 24 year old HVAC systems. We have a few minor problems and called them into the warranty company. Advanced Appliance is the local service company for our warranty. When the contract expired in Aug, we opted to renew it because we figured our HVAC systems were on borrowed time (first mistake). Recently the furnace in our attic died and had to be replaced. I should have known better and called around to other companies to see what it would have cost for us to pay out of pocket, but it's cold out and we need heat, so I went with what Advanced/the warranty company was recommending, which was foolish. I know they aren't getting rich off of warranty work, and I really kick myself for not checking around, but we paid $2080 out of pocket for a bunch of frivolous expenses. For instance, they charged me $135 for a $50 thermostat sold at Lowe's. We were also charged $230 for sizing the unit....except that's generally just done with new construction. Thankfully I didn't renew our annual maintenance agreement we had with them. Long story short, as the home inspector told us, they seem to do good enough work, but their perhaps aren't super honest with expenses. The hunt begins for a new HVAC contract. Ultimately, while they were punctual, I wouldn't recommend them.
Description of Work: Over the past year plus they fixed a couple of minor issues using our home warranty, but most recently they replaced a gas furnace in our attic through our home warranty.

This is my second review of Advanced Appliance. My first was the June 20 review which only required a check and shot of Freon. This time my A/C just stopped working. I contacted my contracted American Home Shield and they gave me 3 choices for repair companies. I chose Advanced Appliance based upon the great job they did just 2 months ago. This time my A/C compressor went out. The compressor unit is both a high dollar unit to replace (no charge to me with AHS) and complicated to removed and install the new one. Promptness/ Communication: Excellent. After I made my repair request to AHS, I got a call from Advanced within the hour and we schedule Ken Cooper to come see what was wrong with my A/C. He showed up the next morning and pretty quickly determined that it was a bad compressor unit (it had also tripped the circuit breaker). He took all the data required and said it would be 2 or 3 days to get the new compressor from TX. Three days later I received a call that the compressor was there and that they would be out the following morning (between 10am -12)to do the repairs. (the repair guys showed up at 10:30am) Service Team: Charles and Mike showed up with the new compressor ready to start. - All panels had to be removed to expose the compressor compartment. - After removing wiring and bolts the old compressor was lifted out. (very heavy!!) - When the new compressor was set into place, the existing copper tubing did not match up so Charles had to basically re-tube and solder new copper tubing into place. He also installed an and quot;in-lineand quot; dryer into the system. - Now that piping was correct, the re-wiring was completed. -Now that the entire system was all connected, the purging, vacuum and re-Freon installation was performed. UV Lite: I also elected to have a UV lite wired in and placed in my air box. This will prevent mold from growing in the air box or on the cooling coils which then run to the ducting. Conclusion: Charles and Mike worked continuously for over 4 hours in 100 degree heat. They were cheerful, informative (I do ask questions) and very professional. I've done a lot of my own wiring and copper tubing work in the past and I can say the Charles is a pro at what he does. Recommendation: I would recommend Advanced Appliance to my friends and neighbors without hesitation and I will use them again in the future. They also have a pretty attractive yearly A/C maintenance program I will be signing up for..
Description of Work: Replaced home A/C unit compressor, purged A/C system with nitrogen, pulled vacuum to ensure no leaks, installed new Freon. Also had them install a UV light in my system for prevent mold.

This was one of my worst experiences in the last few years. This particular vendor never kept appointments and left me waiting at my home all day on two different occasions and they never showed up. I even called twice in one day to confirm they were still coming out and they assured me the technician was on their way but no one called or showed up at our home. When I spoke to someone the next morning they apologized and said someone would call me. The next thing that happens is the home warranty company calls me to say that after all this time (1 week) the vendor is saying they are not comfortable making the repair on my appliance (6 year old KitchenAid) so they are removing themselves from making the repair. Now I have to find someone else. Do not take my word for it, perform your own due diligence by searching them on the Internet.

Excellent customer service from the main office. Kept in touch with me as the appointment neared. Good follow up. Ken has 30 yrs. experience with HVAC and proved it. While he was there, he also checked my upstairs a/c unit. All was fine except it did take a small amount of Freon and the cooling grills where very dirty which he cleaned. Outstanding on-site service and I would highly recommend them to friends and family and I will use them again.
Description of Work: My A/C quit cooling properly. I scheduled an appointment through my American Home Shield. I received a call within the hour to set an appointment for the following day. On the day of the appointment, I received a call from Advanced Applicance saying Ken would call me when he was on the way. I received the call from Ken who showed up on time. After inspecting the main a/c system (I have two), he recharged the system, washed all the screens on BOTH systems and rechecked the functionality. All was good.

Called Advanced Appliance serviced. Had a guy come out the same day. Fixed the leak at a great price. Brandon was the service Tech. He was great. Identified the problem and had it fixed in no time. Brandon was professional and just awesome. I could not ask for a better Tech. This guy was EXCELLENT. He knew his job and so very personable. I would call Advanced again and again for any repair. Basically, I clogged my washing machine up by washing a dog bed. The dog bed ripped and the stuffing clogged the machine up and it wasn't able to drain. I was in a panic, because it happened on a Wednesday night and I was leaving early Friday morning for a trip. Needless to say, I needed someone quick. Advanced Appliance came through!!

The system was again out recently and AHS sent a different company out that was able to correct the faults.

In December of 2012 I discovered that I had been double billed for a service call in June of 2012. When I contacted Advanced Appliance Service about the double billing, they were almost confrontational and required extra efforts on my part to prove that they had been overpaid. They would not accept the printouts of my on-line statements with my business bank, and required me to get copies of the checks from the bank (at an added expense) to prove the double charge and double payment. It was a terrible experience and after what seemed an eternity of them dragging their feet, I finally received the refund (including the bank fees) in February of 2013. Anyone doing business with them, please be careful and mindful of these financial deceptions.

It took a couple of days for them to get the part and replace the motor. Advanced Appliance Service overcharged me for the job. I believe it was because I had stopped using them on a regular basis. In a way they saw it as an opportunity to hit me for excessive fees. Now mind you I have always paid all my bills on time and have never not paid them for their services. I even paid the technician on site when the job was done for this service call. It has been very frustrating the way Advanced Appliance Service has treated me (a local business) we could rekindle our working relationship, but I'd have to see a lot of changes in their fees and customer service.

They were good. The guy who came out was really very professional and very helpful at explaining what was going on, but the only thing I wasn't happy with was that they had to order a part and I had to follow-up with them a couple of times because I didn't get a call to say the part was in or this is how much it is. I had to do some follow-up work, but they were apologetic. The part was expensive, but I think that wasn't their fault so they're reasonably priced. They kind of had a difficult machine to work on.

Service was great - arrived on time and stayed until the job was finished. They had to leave and get an additional piece of equipment which they did without a fuss. They returned and removed the block from the vent.

Technician arrived on time and diagnosed the problem but did not have a fan motor to replace the bad one. Initially I was told that the motor would be available the next day but it turned out that it took a few additional days to get the motor. Installation was quick and the technician did a very good job.
Description of Work: Replaced blower fan in AC/furnace air handler. Service was provided through AHS service warranty program and I had to pay the deductible amount of $60.00. Total bill would have been over $300.

Ken Cooper was on time (1/2 hr window). Explained well what he was doing. Efficient and cleaned up. Probably, if I hadn't already spent $500 on this refrigerator (not counting water damage to kitchen from original tubing splitting) I would not think $105 was anything but a steal.
Description of Work: Installed water line on LG refrigerator. Original water line went bad; refrigerator only 5 yrs old. Replaced 5/16' tubing from filter inlet to water cut off.

The home warranty company sent Advanced out after I complained of gas fumes coming through the AC vents. I popped open to the door to the AC unit to find exposed wiring, no filter door, and a loose filter held in place by duct tape. On the initial call with Advanced, I was told I had to be at the house. I had to take off work to be at my home, and my physical presence was not required at all as there were other people at the house. The person on the phone mentioned the technician wanted me there to “make sure he got paid.” I let them know to have the technician bring change, and that I was going to get cash from the ATM to pay him (in $20s). In the end, the technician did not have change. I was not told I could pay by credit card (I went out of the way to get cash). While at the property the technician spent most of his time sitting in the van. He only looked at the unit for about 5 minutes. The only physical thing he did was rip the duct tape off the filter, so there was nothing holding the filter in place at all. He left the filter this way. After this brief period, he went back to his van for about 30-40 minutes. He said he was talking with the warranty company during that time. During the same amount of time, I was able to rake about 5 bags of leaves and mow and frac34; of an acre. Finally, he said the exposed wiring was “low voltage” and “normal.” He said the AC unit was not designed to take a filter. That any filter installed on it was after market and/or “cut to fit.” He said my unit was working fine, and there was no work to be performed. I asked him how much to install an after market filter kit and he said about $700, but he said I didn’t need it, and wouldn’t give me an estimate. He mentioned the warranty may not cover it, and I let him know that was fine. I let him know my concern was air quality, not whether the warranty would cover it or not. I asked him about relocation of the handler from the garage to the attic and he said that would be “too much trouble.” Prior to him leaving I asked him if he was with an HVAC/AC company or an appliance company and he said “we do it all.” I said “well I’ll give you one more chance before you leave to get out of the van and give me an estimate on moving that air handler up to the attic.” He printed out my invoice, handed it to me and took off. These are all facts. Please note my review does not contain my opinion.
