Description of Work: Determined hard drive was failing which was the cause of the computer failing to boot. Let me use a loaner lab top while my computer was being serviced.

Description of Work: My Dell desktop was slowing to a crawl, would not load news feeds for replay and the video card was refusing to properly play. In short, the XPS needed a long overdue tune-up. I am completely satisfied with services rendered by Your Computer Friends. They were responsive, quick, and in my humble opinion, very fair in cost for services. brought in my ASUS laptop a few days later for some fine tuning as we equally pleased with the 1 day turnaround. I do recommend these folks.

Description of Work: Went to Your Computer Friends based on solid Angie's List reviews and was not disappointed. Susan (owner) was very friendly, funny, and understanding. The night prior my Dell Inspiron 537 began to smoke and sizzle, and flames were visible through the USB ports. Brought it in hoping to salvage whatever I could from the hard drive. Susan recommended encasing the hard drive so that I might use it as an external, a task which her team performed in less than 3 hrs for a very reasonable price. Susan also did some sleuthing and explained what had happened, showing me where a capacitor had exploded and explaining that her team had a little "show and tell" because it is apparently a rare occurrence. They even emailed me the attached photo so I could have a memento of the damage hehe. She was very considerate and kind, and did not show any hesitation in spending a little extra time with me. She even had one of her techs help me when I came back in the store 5 mins later because my girlfriend had reminded me that her Sims 3 cd was still stuck in the disk drive. Great place, great folks, reasonable prices. Almost forgot that I'm still out a computer lol, although in truth, Susan did also offer me a replacement model for a very reasonable price. Will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: I had a nine year old computer that had served me well, but began to get balky in its old age. Your Computer Friends had added more memory and tuned it up a couple of years ago, which kept it going. Then it had trouble starting up and being very slow. Susan at Your Computer Friends was patient and did not charge for a return visit of the machine. We finally decided it was time to retire it. Only then did I become aware that she would order a Dell computer made to fit what I do with a computer. Susan spent an hour with me at her shop, explaining in lay language the three systems in a computer, and carefully making notes of the way I use my computer, and asking what kind of additional goodies I might want to do with a new computer. She shopped carefully and got the best possible prices on the different parts for me. I got exactly what I wanted; they transferred all my files to the new one when it arrived, and brought it out and installed it yesterday. The tech, John, was exactly on time, professional, answered all my questions, and set me up with a new password-protected router, showed me how to Skype, showed me how to access my new email account and Microsoft Word 2010, etc. I am delighted! Such an easy change, and I love my new system!

Description of Work: My computer was running very slowly, and I thought I might have picked up a virus. Brought the laptop into this provider, who found no virus, but did find "multiple system conflicts" caused by the Kapersky anti-virus program. They re-installed an updated version of Kapersky, and my computer now runs great! I couldn't be more pleased!

Description of Work: The hard drive from my old computer was in a new drive enclosure but I could not access the data. I didn't realize I couldn't access my files until today, when I really needed them! I really thought I was in trouble, but called Your Computer Friends and they fixed it quickly and remotely. Yippee!

Description of Work: I took my computer in which had quit functioning because I had spilled tea on it. After being presented with my options, I decided to buy a new computer. (They do not sell computers at this store.) Your Computer Friends transferred my information from my old hard drive to the new computer for $60.00. (Best Buy wanted $100.00 for the same service!) Later I went back for them to change the settings which they did free of charge. These folks are friendly, fast, and very professional. I would highly recommended this business to anyone.

Description of Work: We were going to go to Best Buy and take our computer to get repaired by the Geek Squad. BUT, after reading some reviews online, we decided to take our computer here. What an excellent choice that proved to be! They were great! They evaluated our computer and gave us their honest opinion in a timely manner.

Description of Work: I was having trouble with my computer monitor and called Your Computer Friends. They sent someone that afternoon, who diagnosed the problem. I needed a new monitor. It didn't take all that long. I bought a new monitor and was having problems setting it up. They came back out and fixed the problem which took a couple of hours but they didn't charge me anything. I was very pleased with the result
