Description of Work: Not what they were asked to do. We called to have them look at our Mineral Springs board and to clean the pool cell. The technician was almost an hour late and he hooked the testing device to the board and said I bet there is a burnt spot on the back of the board and he said the cell and the board go together (whatever that meant) and didn't clean the cell. The technician left his drill and another tool behind and had to come back the next day to get it. They quoted a new board for $424. We ordered one online for a lot less and installed it ourselves and there was no burnt spot on the back of the one we removed. I called to let them know that the technician had not cleaned the cell but they did nothing about it.

+ -1 moreThe owners and staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They are quick to respond to inquiries either with an email or with a phone call. They are willing to work with most HOA's to get approvals for the plans. Unfortunately, we were unable to build at this time, but will use this contractor when we do have our pool built.
Description of Work: Spoke with us about variety and choices in pools. Visited pool site with us and was very helpful about helping us to decide which pool size and filter system to use.

+ 0 moreWe met Kevin at the Spring home show and talked with him and other pool companies there. After that, we researched the companies and the products they sold. Ocean Blue by far had the best reviews and sold a product made in the USA with a great warranty. From start to finish, Kevin, his wife Pauline and all the staff were great. Kevin was there to dig the whole and set the pool himself. His follow up crews were there on time every day and knew exactly what they were doing. If things did not look right to Kevin, he would have it redone. He even had some of the pavers cut out and reinstalled because he did not like some blemishes he saw in them. I am a do it yourself kind of person and will always try to help do things on projects to reduce costs. This time I just sat back and watched and when they left, I jumped into a beautiful blue pool. Thanks Kevin,Pauline and staff for a job Professionally Done. You do not find this level of pride and professionalism in business these days. The pleasure was all mine.

+ 2 moreWe had numerous contractors quote price and design and finally narrowed it down to Kevin and 1 other company. After careful investigation we decided Ocean Blue was the best way to go, I'm not sure if Kevin is as happy about it as we are!! We were in Maryland for most of the installation so we were unaware of the of the multitude of problems Kevin was incurring from the day the crane company arrived to the final inspection, Kevin called and kept us informed of everything, every step of the way and handled it as the professional I knew he was. I joked with him and call it the pool from he--, every problem that arose was in No way due to his company. He is a man of his word and in view of the problems he incurred my contract price did not change, I have recommended them highly to many people. I can honestly say if we were to ever install another pool I would want Kevin and his company to do the job, I only hope they feel the same.
Description of Work: We had a raised in the ground pool installed along with a new deck, steps, 4t retaining wall and fencing. All electrical and plumbing were done by Kevin's company. And of course Nothing could be done until trees were removed.

+ -1 moreScheduling staff were rude when trying to clear up the snafu. And I was charged for an appointment I did not schedule or have. Ocean Blue owners settled the problem with me, after contacting them directly, and they seem responsible and fair. I won't work with Ocean Blue again. However, they have some good reviews on Angie's List, so if you choose to work with them, be careful to define expectations clearly with their staff.

The owner of the company is on site everyday. He's demeanor customer service is excellent. I will have him back to do other work for me in the future.

Description of Work: We got quotes from 4 fiberglass pool installers and we went with Ocean Blue Pools. The quote was for an approx. 15' x 23' fiberglass pool with about 6' at the deep end (saltwater system), stamped and dyed concrete around the pool with approx 14' x 20' patio and an outdoor shower, and an aluminum fence surrounding the pool with locking gate. The other 3 companies were fairly comparible. One company had had a negative review online, so I wasn't as comfortable using him, although I gave him the benefit of the doubt and looked at his pools. Each company offers a different brand of fiberglass pool, so we had to look into the pools themselves as well. In the end, we were the most comfortable with Kevin at Ocean Blue Pools, and we weren't dissapointed. They started when they said they would, dug the hole very quickly and were careful with the heavy equipment in our yard. The delivery of the pool was on time and put in place quickly. We had some rain before the concrete could be put down, but we knew that could cause a delay. Once the concrete work started, it was only a few days before it was done. They spent another few days getting the plumbing, pump and water quality up to speed. They used Hampsted Fence Company to do the fence and they did a great job. We liked their work so well that we had them put a fence around the pump and outdoor shower and replace our gate on our perimiter fence. The lawn gets torn up, because you end up with dirt piled on your lawn, but we were told to expect that. Ocean Blue took all the remaining soil away. One of the nice things about using Ocean Blue Pools is that they don't just forget about you once they put the pool in. You can bring your water to their store for testing at any time for no charge. This is very handy, especially the first few months until you get your water balanced. They have all the supplies on hand and will even drop by from time to time to see how everything is going. They are more than happy to show you some existing pools and the pool owners were available to speak with us.

+ 1 moreThe project began on schedule. During the excavation there was as an unexpected amount of ground water encountered. Kevin and his crewed installed a water pump to extract the water. The ground water required extensive work in terms of time and effort to keep the earth excavated and, after the pool was installed, keeping it level. This required an extensive effort on the part of the work crew. On at least one occasion the pool was emptied and re-leveled in order to compensate for 2 inches of variance. This process added approximately a week to installation process. Nevertheless the installation was completed by our end-date requirement specified. We thoroughly enjoyed working the Ocean Blue workers and the administrative staff. We maintain regular contact with regards to the pool status, provide routine visits to check up on the tool, and are always accommodating in providing information over the phone regarding any aspect of the pool and its operation. The key element to keep in mind when installing a pool in the coastal area to be sure to check with CAMA restrictions, impervious allotments and Corp of Engineer requirements. The key problem I encountered was determining the amount of concrete apron to surround the pool. This added a considerable amount of effort and stress on everyone's part. The Ocean Blue team were very accommodating in arranging their schedule as I finished these details with city planning commission. Prior to installing the concrete apron, it is a good idea to think about where you may want to have PVC openings inserted in the pool to support umbrellas, volleyball nets, etc. My only regret is that I did not purchase a pool one-size larger. Go bigger rather than smaller. Be sure you have a complete plan for the pool space before beginning the pool installation. Ocean Blue Team will work well other contractors working on other projects to coordinate to the greatest extent possible. In summary - I highly recommend Ocean Blue. I've dealt with many contractors over many years and place them on a top tier.
Description of Work: Ocean Blue handled all aspects of the installation - digging the hole, installing the pool, electrical, concrete work, and landscaping around the pool. Kevin Dunne managed all aspects of the installation. The final cost was exactly what was estimated, plus a few added options we requested which were also a part of the estimate quote. The excavation and install of the pool went almost according to plan insofar as the time required. The electrical work performed by a sub-contractor was done well The concrete pad around the pool was done according to our specifications to include stamping and staining Excess soil was redistributed on the lot and became the foundation for new landscaping Sod was taken up and also reused in other parts of the lawn. Ocean Blue arranges for the delivery of the pool from the developer and arrange the contractor / crane company for delivery. Kevin Dunne was there to supervise the entire operation.

We had a number of challenges at the onset, yet Kevin found solutions immediately and fixed the problem with our utmost concern in mind. He is involved from beginning to end, not just when you sign the contract! He is involved in the design process, getting the permits, he digs the hole as well as excavation, the installation process, and the concrete coping process. Bottomline he is there from beginning to end. Some of the challenges we encountered dealt with the weather and heavy rains which had a slight delay in the installation of our pool. Nonetheless Kevin and his team preserved and made sure everything was on track. He had a family vacation planned for months to go overseas with his family long before he signed a contract with us, as the vacation got closer the delays weighed on his mind I'm sure, yet he was adamant to get our pool done! Even on the day he left overseas and afterwards he was calling his staff to make sure they followed up on the details, from paver installation to pool cleaning. I know because they told me that Kevin had called them and wanted to make sure the job was getting done as promised. Clearly this is service and his follow up reinforced our gut instincts that we made the right choice. In this tough economic times, I would be remiss if I didn't make sure that I took the time to let other potential customers who are looking to make an investment in buying a pool that they won't regret contracting with Ocean Blue Pools and Spas, as long as Kevin Dunne owns it! + -1 moreI only expected the technicians to fix the leak I had in my filter, but they noticed the DE filter needed cleaning while troubleshooting the leak. They also noticed the salt chlorine generator needed cleaning. They made repairs and cleaned everything just for the cost of a service call. I'll definitely use Ocean Blue Pools in the future.
