+ 0 moreI had just bought a bank owned homed, with all the trials and tribulations that comes with that! It was clear that the drains (kitchen and bath) had not been cleaned out for quite some time, one of the toilets did not flush properly and one of the toilets was clogged when we took occupancy. Mr. Rooter came quickly, worked professionally, and we haven't had a problem since. Although the price might seem a bit high, he had to completely remove and reinstall the toilet (there was a tube of toothpaste stuck in it!) and the kitchen drain was so badly clogged (bacon grease!) that it required a hydro-jet to clear it completely.
Description of Work: Cleared out several drains; unstopped and repaired toilet.

He was friendly and professional, completed the jobs quickly, then checked the condition of all the other plumbing fixtures in the house. Will call this company for all future plumbing issues in this house.

Description of Work: Fixed our garbage disposal which was rusted over from the previous owners and required the flange to be sawed off. And increased our water pressure, since the pressure valve wasn't working.

+ -1 moreA plumber was here this morning to help identify why my Water/sewer usage was so high. Issue # 1 was two leaky toilets (one is rarely used). Issue # 2 was determined to be a water line leak between the meter and the house. My problem with that was no visible signs of a leak i.e. wet ground, puddled water, etc. The first young man said he shut the water off to the house and the meter was still just spinning--the main water line leak. When the Mr. Rooter rep finished his inspection and said that once he closed the flappers to the toilets the meter quite spinning. I told him what the first plumber did. He too shut off the water to the house--showed me the meter was not moving as would be expected if no leak. We turned the water back on, flappers still closed, turned on the faucet and let it run and we went to check the meter...barely moving. He repaired my leaky toilets and gave me suggestions on what needed to be done yet. I cancelled the third plumber I had lined up to give me an estimate. Mr. Rooter rep checked my meter prior to leaving after repairs complete--guess what? no meter movement.
Description of Work: The man from Mr. Rooter came and found only leaky toilets x2. I had him fix toilets and a drain that my son was unable to fix when he had been here months ago.

+ 0 moreWow. On a Friday evening we had an issue at our house after 5 PM, and we weren't sure if we'd be able to get anyone out to help us. Our sinks were making weird burbling noises, and then it spread throughout the house. My husband was wise enough to tell me to stop using water, and to call a plumber. After researching Angie's List, I called Roto Rooter's after-hours number, spoke to a nice young lady who was very empathetic to our problem, and she said that a technician would be in contact shortly, which I translated into "some time much later". Much to my surprise, 3 minutes later, "Josue" from Roto-Rooter called me back and asked what he could do to help. Within 40 minutes, he was at our house and assessing the situation. Turns out it was a county problem, and he called whoever he could to help, and even though he came out and spent his time helping us, it turned out that it was a situation that he himself could not fix, so he didn't charge us. I was amazed. He was so professional, and displayed a true willingness to help. He even asked that we contact him after county came out so that he would know that we were taken care of. I cannot stress enough how fantastic this young man was, and how he made us feel that it was his number one goal to ensure that our issue was resolved immediately.
Description of Work: The technician, Josue, came out with all the tools necessary to help us, but it turned out that he quickly realized that it was a county problem, and he had them on the phone immediately.

+ -1 moreSee services performed for full story. Overall I'm happy with the work. The owner Mark Gonzales is completely customer oriented and will bend over backwards to satisfy his clientele. Also Deb's husband James Kern is writing this since he was the requester and home at the time.
Description of Work: I was having a new Rheem HVAC system installed on my first floor level and the (1stCall) folks were in the crawl space attacking the handler. The owner of 1stCall (Rod Smith) noticed a puddle of water on the vapor barrier and brought it to my attention since it might relate to his install concerning the Air Handler. After he inspected the situation we determined that a plumber was in need. My normally on-hand plumber wasn't available, so I used Angies List. I selected Mr. Rooter (owner Mark Gonzales) out of Oak Island, NC since it was close and the reviews were good. He dispatched a pumber tech who was on site within (1.5 hours). He inspected the issue and determined that it was a broken toilet flange. We discussed the issues and pricing. Note: Mr. Rooter a (franchise service) performs tasks by the job and not by the hour. (They carry a handy dandy flip notebook.) I decided to have the toilet replaced as well, and also decided to spend ($99.00) for a '3-year membership' called the Advantage Plan that provides priority benefits. Mainly for Priority Scheduling with 24/7 service and Preferental Pricing for members (means cheaper) according to column B in the pricing schedule. I assume the advantage to the pay per job instead of hourly rates means if the tech can finish a usual 2-hour job in 30-minutes then they make a great profit. However, if the job runs into overtime the customer benefits. In my case the tech spent a total of 3-hours on the job 1/30/2012, and had to return on 1/31/2012, less travel time (add approximately 50-miles for parts) for another 1-hour. So, not including travel the tech spent about 4-hours on the job. This included repair/replace toilet flange, replace the toilet with a new ToTo and cleanup plus haul away. So, Standard Rate: Replace/Repair Flange $318.447 - Member Rate: $270.69. New Toilet & Replacement - Member Rate: $669.00. Membership Special Rate: $99.00 normally $189.00 for 3-years. Grand Total: $1038.00. Seems pricey but the task was completed and the HVAC guys were also happy. Overall I'm happy with the work.

+ 0 moreThis was perfect! My water heater had a warranty from an old Mr Rooter franchise, long since out of business. When I contacted this business, the Owner (Mark) got on the line and in good faith (there were no records), sent a technician out to check out the heater and drain it at no cost to me. The technician (Josue) was prompt, very professional and efficient. He performed the service, told us to wait a few days and if odor still existed, he would be back out with a new anode. He then did an inspection of all our plumbing systems and provided a detailed report. Great experience. I think I have found my Wilmington plumber.
Description of Work: Needed water heater checked because hot water had developed an odor. Technician came out, flushed heater, mixed in vinegar to clean anode and break loose old minerals in water heater.

The plumbing technician was responsive to my requests and we had a very useful back and forth conversation about the best way to accomplish the job. Because all the plumbing is visible on the unfinished inside wall of a storage area I could see how it was done and it is just as neat and tight as you could want. All materials used were very solid. I didn't keep track of how much time the technician spent but I felt that the total cost was very reasonable for what was accomplished. I will be using this company to connect to the sewer line.
Description of Work: Plumbed an outdoor shower for a beach house and a separate dog washing station. This included connecting to pipes on the underside of the house about 20 feet in the air. Checked all toilets and replaced flappers. Replaced guts in one toilet.
