Ed and his team were very professional. I have been around a lot of contractors, and this group were well-mannered, courteous, and seemed to work with each other very well. I was expecting guests from out of town and were planning a party. Ed's team came and worked hard and the patio was finished before my guests came. I was a bit leery of a concrete patio, however, once it was done, dyed and stamped, it made a HUGE difference in our backyard. It's pretty and has fooled several people into thinking it was pavers again. I should have done this years ago. Great Job!
Description of Work: Took out the old pavers which were cracked, broken and uneven, and installed a beautiful concrete patio.

Thanks for the great review. I actually was surprised when we were awarded this job. They say first impressions are everything and I didn't think I did very well . The member and I had set an appointment to look at the project , for some reason I got the time wrong and missed the appointment. This member called to ask where I was and I explained that I still had an hour before I had to be there.........I was wrong. She agreed to stay there and I went right away. I know how important being on time is when most of my customers work full time jobs and are coming home just to meet me. Since then I have picked up some stronger glasses so I can read my own writing a little more clearly : ) I really thought I blew it on this one. I'm so glad she chose us to do the job. It went great and came out really nice. With out giving too much information on this member, I will say she does know construction and didn't give up that information till the end. It is very important to me to get a good review from someone with this type of background. Thank you and don't forget to reseal that patio, Ed

Mr. Italiano was the most professional contractor I've ever worked with. He is personable in every way and his contract was written in depth and very complete. He was patient and answered all my questions and even came to my home twice before I chose him. The work was done in a timely manner and it is absolutely awesome. My completed patio is BEAUTIFUL!!! My neighbors are quite impressed with him and his work. I would definitely use him again and share his work and name with everyone I come in contact with.

What a great review. We really enjoyed working with this member. I showed her a sample of colored and stamped concrete and the rest is history. Nothing makes me more pleased in this business than a happy customer. Enjoy the patio with your family for many years. Thank you for this awesome review as well. Ed Italiano

A concrete driveway replacement was our final large project on a major (12 month) renovation of a 1973 house in southeast Charlotte. The project was far from routine in that it was approximately 100 feet in length, curved, located on a steep grade, and needed to be poured in late January. After interviewing several top rated firms from Angie?s List, I chose Italiano Brothers Concrete---and am delighted with my decision. Senior partner Ed Italiano responded to my inquiry promptly and explained what needed to be done to meet the technical challenges this project presented. He explained the ?what,? ?why,? and ?how? of his services, the time frame, and the cost---in plain, straightforward English. Having located here a number of years ago from Pittsburgh, the Italiano Brothers were extremely knowledgeable about how low temperatures can negatively affect the curing of concrete and what needed to be done for maximizing success. The project was completed on-time and on-budget. It looks beautiful (we have received a number of compliments from neighbors), and I am sure that its structural integrity will far outlast my own. And one last thought. When I recently re-read the reviews of the Italiano Brothers on Angie?s List---which were uniformly glowing and enthusiastic---I noticed that Ed Italiano responded personally to each review by thanking the reviewer and providing additional information about each particular project. Clearly this type of follow-up would not be provided by a contractor who did not care passionately about his company?s reliability, honesty, integrity, fairness, and quality of products and service. Cheers to Ed and Steve Italiano.

I feel honored to have worked on this project. The home is very beautiful and unique. The driveway was a mess, not that it was installed incorrectly, but years of water running down it's slope, infiltrating cracks then causing failure......major failure. All the construction traffic contributed as well. We removed the old concrete, tree roots and bad soil. Installed a recycled crushed concrete base, poured back a 4000 psi concrete with proper expansion relief. We also removed 20' of the curb and gutter and replaced per city code. This driveway will give many years of service to a really great family. We have since been back to drill some holes in concrete for this member so that he could install a wood retaining wall on some of the concrete. Thank you for this review and stay in touch, Ed

I am so appreciative of the work these brothers do that I wish they did more than concrete, i.e., construction, etc. They go above and beyond just putting down and finishing concrete. They are so personable that it is a true pleasure to have them on the property - no matter what kind of work you have done outside of your home, there is a measure of inconvenience to the homeowner. But, with this company, the end result is so satisfying and beautiful you don't mind at all. Their personalities are enjoyable and their work ethics are far beyond any we have ever experienced. We can whole heartedly recommend this company for large or small jobs - they work with you - their goal is to satisfy their customers.
Description of Work: They removed old concrete from our patio and put down a gorgeous stamped concrete that looks like slate. Then they removed all of the old concrete in the adjoining drive area in order for us to have a two car carport installed. To this new concrete they added a broomed finish. The whole job turned out beautifully.

Ed was great all through the process. We told Ed our vision and he made it happen. I call Ed and he came out to our house that day. I was unable to get off work to meet him so we talked about the project over the phone while he was at my property. He then provided me with a quote and included prices for some options we had discussed. We agreed on what I wanted and he set the date. The job took about three days. The first day they came out and prepped the site. They did a great job of cleaning up after themselves and made sure everything looked good before they left for the day. Day two they poured both the patio and the driveway. I was very please on how quickly everything came together and looked. The final day Ed put the finishing touches on both items and made sure everything was at 100% and that we were happy. They did a great job regrading my yard so that the patio looked like it meant to be there. This was no easy task given the extreme slopes in my yard. The bottom line, both the driveway and the patio turned out better than we expected. We are thrilled with the experience. I would not use anyone else for any future projects. Ed was professional and great to work with. He was able to see our vision better than we could. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to do concrete work. Thanks for everything

Ed and Steve were an EXCELLENT company to do business with. They were very professional and their work is second to none. My patio is making ALL my neighbors green with ENVY. You wouldn't even know that my patio is concrete, the stamp process they used is so beautiful. This company is well worth the money to do your projects. Hands downs I would use them again. They came when stated and they dug out my backyard. They frame the patio and then put placed the rocks in the dugged out area. Once they completed that part they placed the barred wire and covered the patio with plastic. They cam back the next day and poured the concrete. Any question I had they answered me and was very accommodating to me.I really appreciated their time an work ethics. They cleaned up afterwards and sprayed down our house after they completed their work. Again.. use them if nothing else go check out their work and judge for yourself. I did..
Description of Work: I called to get an estimate on doing a patio. Ed called me back and came that same day. Ed was so personable and he explained on what his company does. I also appreciated his advice on what I could do for our patio.

The job was very well done and I was pleased with the results. Ed Italiano recommended the least expensive alternative to address the problem. I appreciated the fact that Ed did not try to sell a more costly solution when the grinding approach met my needs. Ed was recommended by the contractor who built an enclosed porch and new deck for our house and I can see why! Based on the work that the Italiano Brothers did for me I would not hesitate to use them again in the future!
Description of Work: Fifteen years ago another contractor had poured a large concrete basketball court in my backyard that consisted of 9 slabs in a 3 by 3 layout. The joints between the slabs were not caulked correctly and several of the slabs had either risen or lowered creating trip hazards when the court was being used. Ed Italiano came on-site and took a look at the basketball court. Ed did a great job explaining how the problem occurred over the years and the options available to rectify the problem. After we discussed the options Ed recommended we have him grind the edges of the higher slabs to remove the trip danger and then properly caulk all of the joints on the court. He also estimated the cost of caulking the joint in front of our garage and the two joints between our back patio and our house.

Ed was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, on a project that lasted nearly 4 months. He cooperated and coordinated with multiple other contractors (plumber, lighting, etc.) and always showed a willingness to be flexible in the face of changing project requirements and challenges. Ed was the first to answer my call for bids as well; he wasn't the cheapest, but I could tell from our first meeting that he knew what he was doing and would treat my project with care. I highly recommend that you get a plan for the work that needs to be done - talk to a landscape architect or an engineer, depending on the requirements. Once that's done, call Ed. He's the guy who can help you bring your plan to life, and make positive improvements to the plan all along the way. (1) Demolition of existing brick walkway and concrete driveway & (2) trenching for removal of existing clay sewer line and replacement with new PVC line Upon demolition of the existing improvements, Ed and team uncovered a nasty plumbing situation that clearly needed to be solved before we could start the new driveway project. While I coordinated with the city on sewer and water line improvements, Ed waited patiently and made his team available whenever necessary for trenching, consultation and other necessary tasks. Before he could even start his job, we spent a month making plumbing improvements. (3) Excavation and grading of large portion of front yard Upon excavation of the front yard, we realized that the landscaping plan was not surveyed correctly, which led to an additional, unintended 7" of slope over 18', not good. Ed and I talked through potential solutions and he gave my wife and I time to think through our options. No pressure. He offered many good ideas, and we ultimately agreed with one of his solutions. (4) Three lane exposed aggregate driveway with brick row lock separating each lane I asked for a specific type of exposed aggregate. Ed brought over multiple size samples, so as to get the right product for the project. Glad he did because seeing it in front of me, I chose a smaller sized rock than I had originally planned. (5) Cinder block / rebar / cement, waterproofed retaining wall faced with brick and capped with double wide brick soldier course & (6) asphalt patch at the street I made it clear from day one that I wanted a heavy duty, well built hardscape. Ed understood what I was looking for and gave me the "over-engineered" product I wanted. He also offered industry standard solutions that could've saved money here and there, just to be thorough. Near the end of the project, I mentioned the idea of looking around for cement caps and creating columns leading up the first set of stairs. Ed liked the idea and in fact had the perfect solution - he created custom concrete caps. He even distressed the caps enough to make them compare nicely with the original caps at the existing stairs. (7) LED parking pad lighting integrated into brick retaining wall I hadn't originally planned to integrate lighting into the wall, but it became obvious late in the project that it would've been a good add. Ed helped me quickly pull resources together to have 10 bricks removed from the completed retaining wall, and consulted on the installation of the lights. Finally, Ed's team poured an 8'x8' concrete pad in the backyard. They made adjustments that I requested along the way and were easy to work with as usual.
Description of Work: (1) Demolition of existing brick walkway and concrete driveway, (2) trenching for removal of existing clay sewer line and replacement with new PVC line, (3) excavation and grading of large portion of front yard, (4) three lane exposed aggregate driveway with brick row lock separating each lane, (5) cinder block / rebar / cement retaining wall faced with brick and capped with double wide brick soldier course, (6) saw cut wavy asphalt at the entrance to the parking pad and replaced with fresh asphalt for a seamless transition from the street, (7) LED parking pad lighting integrated into brick retaining wall. In addition, Ed's team poured a 8'x8' cement pad in the backyard for a shed.

We really enjoyed working with the Itialiano Brothers from the design concepts thru the installation. We were very pleased with their expert knowledge and willingness to advise us regarding flow of rain water drainage in our yard, They kept us well informed regarding their schedule and were always on task and prompt in their work despite the rain and other delaying issues. Courteous, friendly and respectful, I would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends and neighbors. I will certainly use their services whenever the need arises. Thanks guys !
Description of Work: Italiano Brothers met with my wife and I to design a new paver patio to compliment our new screened porch addition to the house.Given the need in our yard for good drainage, they suggested installing a drain pipe to carry water from the down spout near the new paver area and channel the flow to a lower spot in our yard. They always advised us to build up the height of the ground at the base of the house to also channel water away front he structure. They proceeded to prepare the year and set ta foundation for the pavers. After waiting for some issues with rain, they installed the pavers and competed the work as designed. They even seeded/strawed the area around the patio to get a new growth of grass started.

I've been thinking about doing "something" to the back of my house for multiple years and finally decided to get moving on it. I was put in contact with Ed @ Italiano Brothers and did not look back after that! When looking for someone to do work on your home, you can usually get a good feel right away if they know what they are talking about or if they just want the job aka your money. Immediately after contacting Ed, he came out same day, and I could tell that he was a professional and knew what he was doing. He was telling me information about water runoff, slope of land, etc. of my backyard that only someone with an experienced eye would know. He worked with me on my "vision" and it was easy to tell that this is a passion of his instead of just a j-o-b. I work from home so I was able to witness the majority of the work that Ed and his guys did throughout the project and the attention to detail was impressive. These guys took an obvious pride in what they did vs. just throwing a slap of concrete in there. Ed also went out of his way to do certain things correctly vs. just getting the job done. Example: piping out the downspout from my gutters instead of just having the water land on the stamped concrete, adding rebar due to "fear" of the roots hurting the concrete long in the future, and construction clean-up/seeding of grass. I wanted benching put in, and a post installed for an outdoor television. Core of their business? No. Problem for them? Nope! Ed used his contacts to draw a design and subcontract the wood working of the bench, all while managing it and making sure I was happy. Overall these guys were great to work with and as you could tell, I could go on and on about the positive experience. The "cheapest"? No, but competitive. The VALUE is the most important and it is there. Being a first time home buyer, I learned my lesson early on with going with the cheap guy (i.e. the first person who extended my front driveway) and for the expense I was looking at - I wanted to get quality, which I did! Summary: Highly recommended, great guys, good value, great product.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience while working with Italiano Brothers. Ed (the owner) came out after hours (and in the rain) to take a look at our back patio to give us an estimate. Originally, we were going to go with stamped concrete, but after meeting with Ed and getting his expert opinion we decided to go with patio pavers instead, and we couldn't be more pleased! Not only did Ed and his team do a fantastic job performing the work, but Ed was there step by step assisting us making the right decisions that would best suit what we were looking for. Ed came by a couple times after hours to drop off some samples of the stone that we were considering so we could see first hand what we were installing before the work began. This was a great help, and really made us confident in our purchase. Again, we couldn't be happier with the end result. We have already been complimented by both of our neighbors saying how great the patio looks, and the gentleman killing our weeds in the backyard asked for the name and phone number of Italiano Brothers because he liked the work so much. We are absolutely going to be using Italiano Brothers again in the near future when we look to add a flag stone walk way from our drive way to the back patio. I would highly recommend, and already have, Italiano Brothers to anyone looking to have their patio space upgraded along with the array of other services that they provide! Thanks again Ed and Italiano Brothers!!!

I was introduced to Ed by Doug Lynch of Exterior Additions as my family was planning the replacement of our deck. With kids nearing teen age years, we found ourselves more and more outdoors and began to enjoy time spent around a fire pit. It occurred to us we should add a stone patio to more adequately accommodate this. When I discussed this with Doug, he said I work with this guy who does stone work and he can create anything with stone/concrete/pavers. Ed came out to the house and discussed some ideas. We selected the pavers of or choice and through his guidance we selected the site, size and features to make the patio both functional and a handsome addition to our home's exterior. /With the completion of the deck, Ed moved in his equipment and quickly and efficiently got the job done over four sweltering 100 degree days. They relocated the fill dirt to a low area in the back yard and spread it. The site was left clean and as undisturbed as one could expect with such excavation. He and his brothers are focused even to the most minute detail. The end result was beautiful and masterfully executed. He is in many ways the "MacGyver" of stone work. He pointed out things such as slope and tree roots/tree types which could potentially upend stone and concrete projects and put that knowledge into the planning of this patio. Before he left, we discussed future projects such as the replacement of a front walk and driveway.
Description of Work: Ed Italiano and his brothers created a 350 square foot Belgard paver patio and seating wall. This project was completed in conjunction with the replacement of our aging deck completed by Exterior Additions of Indian Trail.

Our overall experience was fantastic! Just beginning with the phone conversation with Ed I felt that this was going to be a very good experience. I put time constraints on Ed before we even agreed to the job and he went right along with what I needed. He sent a co-worker (sorry do not remember name) to take a look at the job sight...what a pleasant individual. Work began as agreed upon. In fact, one of the team members was here about 20-25 minutes earlier than expected BUT I was thankful for that because I wanted things started quickly. The process went very smooth and the entire time all members of the Italiano team were very courteous and friendly. Ed was even heplful enough to give me add'l "ideas" on other work I wanted done. Thankyou Italiano Bros. for a job well done. I would absolutely use them again and I highly recommend them!

Italiano Brothers Concrete was completed the concrete work associated with a screened in porch contract that I had completed by Exterior Additions. Prior to any work being started, I met with Ed Italiano to review what the process entailed and what my options were. Ed was tremendously helpful in explaining to me what stamped concrete was in addition to working with me to choose the best possible patterns for both the indoor and outdoor patios. Ed and his crew were always punctual and took due care in ensuring that my yard was not destroyed in the process of removing the old patio and pouring the new patios. I was a bit concerned about this as keeping grass in the Charlotte area is no easy feat. Additionally, Ed was very responsive to my phone calls and e-mails. In terms of price, I cannot review as that was included in the cost of the contractor that built the screened in porch. I did though have Italiano Brothers Concrete stamp a second pattern on the outside patio that was not in the scope of the project. I thought the pricing for that work was very fair. If I need future concrete work to be performed, I will be calling Ed.
Description of Work: New stamped concrete patio (16' x 15') poured in connection with a screened in porch project. Additionally, an adjacent outdoor stamped concrete patio (14' x 10') was poured. Also, the existing standard homebuilder's patio was removed.Separate stamped patterns were used for the two patios.

Ed and his staff was wonderful to work with. Our place is in Elizabeth and we were wanting to keep with the historic feel of the neighborhood. Ed worked great with our needs and did a wonderful job.

After reading reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Ed to get an estimate. He came to my house that same day. Ed really understood exactly what I was looking to do and offered suggestions. While his estimate was slightly higher than 2 others I had gotten, knowledge and professionalism gave me the confidence that they were the right ones for the job. After receiving the approval from my HOA, I contacted Ed to schedule the job. He was able to schedule me for the following week. He and his crew were there first thing Thursday morning to form the patio. They poured, colored, and stamped it on Friday. After curing for the weekend, they came back on Monday morning to clean up and wash the patio; then returned that afternoon to apply the first coat of sealer. Tuesday morning, the second coat of sealer was applied. Ed & all of his workers were great and they were very diligent about cleaning up each day. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I am very thankful to Angie's List for introducing me to Italiano Bros Concrete.

We called Italiano Bros. after reading reviews on Angie's list for concrete pouring in our area. We were very impressed by their service record and reviews. We were in need of prep and pour of a concrete slab for installation of our shed. Ed Italiano came out and gave us a full estimate and was very knowledgeable about the process and addressed our concerns of some excess water flow in the area in which the shed will be installed. They were able to put us on their schedule right away and completed the work within 2 days. One day for prep, the other for pouring completed before noon. We are very pleased with their work, and professionalism. My husband and I are interested in concrete countertops and have requested additional information from Ed for this project as well, we wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

Thank you for such a great report. As described by this member the slab was fairly small but nonetheless done with the same care and details as any larger size job. This project posed some challenge to grade as the only suitable location for the slab was right in an area where drainage water flowed. So with a little regrading we directed the water around the slab and made sure the slab was placed high enough as to not be affected by this. We also used a vapor barrier under the slab and thickened the edges for extra support. Thanks again, Ed

I was very impressed with Italiano Brother Concrete Inc. Company during the quote process. When they came out to do the estimate, I told them what I had in mind and they came up with changes and improvements. They took some of my suggestions and have used it, which impressed me a lot. I have hired them and they are half way through the project. So far everything has been excellent. I would consider working with them again. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Italiano Brother Concrete Inc. Company in September. They are redoing the concrete floor on our car porch. They are redoing the entire driveway and also the sidewalk up to the front of the house. They are also reinstalling our drainage system as we are having problems with the current system.

Thanks for this great report. We did have to fight with some weather during this job, but this member was completly understanding of how rain plays an adverse role in concrete construction work. Even with the weather i believe we were able to complete this job in a timely manner. This job is a good example of how a recycled crushed concrete base makes all the difference in being able to work after a rain delay. Thanks again and enjoy the driveway, Ed

Our contractor building our porch Exterior Additions suggested using Ed Italiano to pour our new patio. After meeting Ed and Steve we decided to use them. They worked along with the porch construction to pour the patio. They did a great job. Very professional and hard working. Received a call from Ed the next day saying that he did not think the concrete company mixed the wrong mixture. Long story short he came back and tore out the patio he just poured and re poured it a second time with the same great results. I have to thank Ed for being honest. I would not have known the mixture was incorrect. He could have left it but chose to to do the correct thing and re did it. Thanks for your hard work Ed, Steve, Pepe, and the rest of the crew. I would highly recommend Italiano Brothers for your concrete work.

Our quality of work is directly associated with the quality of materials we use. With that said I feel I must describe what happened with the concrete. We have had and continue to have a great relationship with our ready mix supplier. They will stand behind their product as do we. This job called for an exposed aggregate finish with a specific decorative stone to be used in the mix. During the making of this mix some "regular stone" found its way into the mix at the concrete plant. We were unaware of this until the following day as we were washing the surface to expose the decorative stone. There was about 25% regular stone showing, not only was it effecting the decorative look it also had sharp edges which would not be very friendly to bare feet or knees, therefore we felt the only thing to do was to redo it with the correct mix. And that's the rest of the story. And thanks for a great report! Ed

After comparing multiple estimates from other people it was obvious that the Italiano Brothers were the most knowledgeable and was going to do the job the right way. The job went as planned, they even power washed my existing patio and took hauled some old pavers off at no extra charge. After they finished the job I got a follow up call from Ed Italiano saying if I needed any additional ideas of what to do on my own for stains or painting he would be happy to discuss. From the first conversation I understood the time line, the cost, and what to expect. The cost didn't change, the time line was correct and efficient but i had wished when they arrived they would let me know instead of just getting started. However, I'm in love with my new patio!
Description of Work: I have an existing small concrete patio. My desire was to extend the patio with a new concrete pad. I contacted the Italiano Brother's for an estimate. In securing their services they gave me great ideas of how to combine the old patio with the new patio. They poured an extension to my existing concrete patio, repaired a concrete walkway as well as cut a diamond pattern on both the old and new concrete to make the entire patio cohesive.

I'm so glad you like the patio. It was a pleasure to work on this project. The picture helps also to show that you can be creative with an existing patio, make sure I get a picture when you do some color. Thanks for the great report.
