He was really good, and the work was perfect. He did a really good and thorough job, and he gave me a report that was half an inch thick. I would use him again in the future if necessary.

This company was referred to us by our realtor while we were purchasing our home. They first did our home inspection. We were extremely pleased with how professional and descriptive the inspection was. It was a 30+ page report with pictures. He later answered many questions from my husband and put our minds at ease when we thought a problem was bigger than what it was. The inspector was also a general contractor and was able to offer some advice on things which needed to be fixed right away. During our home inspection, we were told radon in our home was above normal levels. Based on our previous experience with this company, we decided to get our radon mitigation done by them, as well. The company was very punctual, actually early for both appointments. They were professional and very tidy, cleaning as they went. Also, they were patient with our 4 and 2 years old, answering any question they had (and they had a lot!). The pipes are rather large but the layout is non-obtrusive. The fan is quiet and they offered tips on how to paint the exterior pipes if we ever wanted to. They made sure every hole was sealed better than what it was before. Once they were finished, they took me around and tested the airflow to explain and show how it all worked. After they left, I did notice a problem with the caulking around the base of the pipes. The fan was very powerful and had broken the seal. I called the company and they sent out someone to fix it immediately. Overall, I am extremely pleased and would use and recommend this company again and again!

This was the fourth time I used this service. Found them very professional and they found some things in property I was considering buying that I would have never found. They are worth the price before you tie yourself up in a mortgage.

Austin was quick to respond and flexible when we needed to reschedule him. He was extremely thorough and took the time to take us around the house and show us areas that needed attention. The report he sent after the inspection had an incredible amount of detail and we are using it to determine priority repairs now that we own the house. He had another company do the termite inspection. Both men were very competent and helpful when it came to recommendations and putting things in a way we could understand. My parents also used Austin for their home inspection and give him another big thumbs up!

Austin and his co-workers were prompt, polite and professional. They took care in keeping dust and dirt from infiltrating the rest of the home -- difficult when you're cutting into a concrete slab. They were consistently on time and delivered their final product below (yes, below) estimate. Their follow-up testing confirmed the radon gas was successfully mitigated. In the following year we have had no further groundwater infiltration problems with the house. In all a very successful experience. I would highly recommend Austin and Affordable Home Inspections for radon testing and abatement.

We liked him very much. He was excellent and gave us a lot of information. He was very professional and he responded quickly. He ordered the new motor and it came quickly and he installed it. He invited us to call if we had any other questions or if there was a problem. He is also a home inspector. We liked him so much that if we ever need one, we will call him. The price was extremely reasonable. We will use him in the future.

We received a very detailed report on the home inspection from the vendor, along with very specific recommendations about what items were essential to have fixed before we closed on our house. This amount of detail was very helpful in providing the homeowner guidance on exactly how to fix the problem. They were very good. They were very thorough, and I was very pleased. They gave me a detailed report that included some things the previous owners weren't as forthcoming about. The report came with photos and was professionally done. He then followed up with a phone call after the inspection. They also honored a discount given through Angie's List.

2009 has been a very rainy year here in Western North Carolina. I didn't have any basement water problems prior to this fall, but after several inches of rain in a 24-hour period, I had two inches of water in the basement. The solution was simple -- install a sump pump. But that involved cutting a 24 inch square hole in the basement floor. I had done radon testing this past spring, and the basement reading was borderline -- around 4 picocuries per liter. I knew opening a big hole in the floor would solve the water problem but send the radon level skyrocketing. So I wanted an installation that would solve both problems. I met with Austin and was impressed with his knowledge, suggestions, candor and price. I don't regret the decision to use him and his company at all. They were on time, on budget, professional, neat, cordial, and respectful of my property. The system has solved both the water problem and reduced the radon level to below the World Health Organization's recommendation. I highly recommend Austin's services!

He was on time and worked diligently to complete the inspections while patiently answering all of my questions. He scheduled a bug inspection that went equally as well. He helped to uncover issues that the seller was unaware of and helped to protect our investment as first time home buyers. We were able to negotiate for the repairs. We have been looking for over a year for our first house and Jeff was recommended to us a year ago. He came out to that house and uncovered the need for engineered sister walls for the foundation and helped to steer us away from disaster. We are very thankful for his diligence and experience in the field. His reports (with photos) are emailed, and I even paid online using my debit card. Very convenient. I hope to use him in the future as I look to make investments in real estate. I would highly recommend using Jeff if you are thinking of saleing your home for a pre sale inspection. This will really steer you clear of surprises when you find a potential buyer. You may think that you don't want to know and that it may effect what you will get for your house, but the industry is set up in such a way that it really protects the buyer and seller so you may as well get it out in the open and deal with it.

I had Andrew of Affordable Home Inspections do my home inspection on a home we were purchasing. I have seen many inspections in my years as a Realtor and was extremely impressed. Andrew did a very thorough job and explained everything as we went along. I had a complete report ( bound in a plastic cover)delivered to my door by that evening. The report was extremely thorough, great pictures and very clear explanations. Andrew also helped out after the inspection with any questions and help I needed. They also set up a termite inspection and a radon test to be done at the same time so the price was inclusive of these. I will definitely use this company again.
