+ -1 moreThey capped off the knob and tube wiring and put in a new box, then installed a new wire and outlet and ran it in the basement to the panel. They were efficient and pleasant and knowledgeable. We will call on them for future projects and updates to electrical in our old house.
Description of Work: We wanted to move our TV and components to the opposite end of the LR. This required an old outlet (knob and tube wiring) to be updated to handle all the electric and also it needed to be grounded.

Lionel goes extra mile in making you understand the complete electrical workflow; if you really are into it which I am :) - The crew is punctual; we were told that they will be at our house at 8:00 and I saw the cars parked 10 minutes before 8:00. I had tough time with the past providers to have them come on time. - The crew was proficient and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Above Code Electric for all your electrical needs.
Description of Work: - Trench and install circuitry to the rock area. - Install one 4” x 4” pressure treated post. Install one 2-gang weatherproof box, double duplex receptacle and in-use cover - Connect wiring to new 4-gang switch box and switches ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ will each control one receptacle. This will also control waterfall pump. - Install one weatherproof box, receptacle and cover under deck. Receptacle to be controlled by one of the four (4) new switches (Switch ‘A’). Mount existing lighting transformer under deck and relocate/extend two existing cables to new transformer location. - Install dusk to dawn light on right side of house below 3rd floor window.

+ 0 moreIt went very well. They determined that the light switch was connected to another switch upstairs that we could not figure out what it lead to. I asked them to attach the downstairs light switch to the upstairs one that was in fact working with the lights at the top of the stairs. They did this and made the other light switch we could not determine what it operated inactive. This is exactly what we asked for and they were quick and professional! Would use them again for future electrical needs.
Description of Work: A light switch at the bottom of our stairs was not functioning. I requested that they get it to turn on the lights at the top of the stairs so we could see going up the stairs at night.

+ -1 moreEverything went well and the microwave was installed perfectly. I liked that they were a good family business and punctual. A screwdriver was accidentally dropped straight down on my glass stove top and it left a small crack while they were working. Although this was unfortunate, I have to say they handled the situation better than I had ever hoped. They got on the issue right away and worked with Samsung to keep our new stove top's warranty in tact. They were proactive in making everything right as soon as they possibly could. With time, the new stove top came and everything was back to normal. I was VERY impressed by their work putting in my microwave and also their determination in making everything right when an accident happened. I would definitely work with them again and recommend them to my family and friends!

It was a difficult job, and it took a bit longer than what he/we expected. He gave us a discount since it took almost a whole day. He was prompt and polite. They even took the time to give us recommendations on things they saw while they performed the contracted work. We have a home built in 1945, so their expert information and skill was invaluable. We have more electric work do do in the future, and look forward to working with Above Code again.
Description of Work: Furnish labor and material to complete the following scope of work per our site visit on 03/01/13: • Replace two (2) front entry lights with customer furnished new. Install boxes in brick behind lights per Code, if none are present. Line Item Price: • Re-secure receptacle box for kitchen counter receptacle. Line Item Price: • Replace light on rear of house under eave with customer-furnished motion flood lights. Provide white box for proper installation. Line Item Price: • Install two (2) GFI receptacles with weather proof boxes and in-use covers. One at front of house and one at rear of house. Line Item Price: • Install three (3) customer-furnished ceiling fans with light kits in upstairs bedrooms. Replace ceiling box (if any) with fan-rated boxes. Switching will remain as is, controlling whole fan/light unit. Line Item Price: • Install customer furnished bathroom exhaust fan in 2nd floor bathroom. Cut new switch in wall or install stack switch if not able to put 2-gang box for separate control of fan. Rewire GFI receptacle so it is on all the time and not switched via vanity light. This took three separate trips and we were able to get everything done as needed at each stage of the project. My new kitchen is up to code and much more convenient than it used to be.
Description of Work: Great service, great professionalism. My service required multiple appointments and I had no issues coordinating a schedule that worked with my project. Lionel and his helper, George, showed up on time and were very professional while going about their work. They found a way to do the job without having to cut holes in my ceiling which saved a lot of mess and the need to paint the ceiling afterwards. They cleaned up after finishing the job and showed me the finished results. Everything had been done exactly as I had asked. A job well done and at a reasonable price.

One of the fans was a problem and he went to great lengths to track down a malfunctioning neutral wire, ultimately replacing a receptacle box and not charging me for it. He was thoughtful and persistent in solving the problem. I would definitely use Above Code again.

Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List big deal for two hours of electrical work. Nothing I wanted was really complex - but I shy away from any electrical work of any kind. Getting the front doorbell to work required some exploration to see how it worked, so we went into the attic and the crawl space, but it's fine now. He repaired one end of an extension cord (one of those long blaze orange ones you use outdoors), and that meant I didn't have to buy a new one. The broken electric outlet in the living room was something that he noticed and I had not.
