It's been a true pleasure to work with This member on several projects at his home. He is recovering from a recent surgery and was home during the rentovations. Me being retired and him still serving in the military made for many funny conversations. We wish him the best in the future. Additionally we have already been contacted by a associate of his for future work. He tipped my crew and I for the work performed. What a generous gesture, Again THANK YOU for making Angie's List work positively for our company. Dennis Owner, Call Mr Fixit

They were prompt, professional and precise!
Description of Work: Mr. Fix and his team repaired flooring near my back sliding door, as well as repaired flooring in my kitchen that my husband "tried" to do himself. They also plastered a hole in my teens closet, to which the "not me ghost did." Did I mention he plastered that for free?

Did not have the courtesy return a phone call. Update 12/15/11 After seeing Mr. Fixit's response, I'm glad he didn't return my phone call. Since I contacted Mr. Fixit on his listed business phone, business etiquette would have been to leave a voice message stating that he was out of the country and would or would not return phone calls. His response proves he is not a professional, nor is he worthy of any other rating than a F.

GET OVER YOURSELF!!!! It's hard to return phone calls from outside the United States. Most Likely you are someone i wouldn't prefer to work for self centered like you are. MAKE ANGIE'S LIST WORK for those who use it legitimately to find contractors and not to throw spears because their feelings were hurt because NO ONE CALLED THEM BACK.

I haven’t moved forward. I was very satisfied. He is a very nice guy and very easy to work with. Everything was done by email since I was in Afghanistan, which was really helpful. The price he quoted seemed fair.

I called Dennis on Monday and he had time to fit me in between 10 and 12 wednesday. He said that electrical work was billed by the hour and not by the job because every situation is different. They showed up about 930. I explained the problems and gave them a priority list for what i wanted done. Scott got right on it. It took about an hour to figure out the mess wired to the switch box. Once he had it all figured out, he wired a light switch for the exterior and the entry. Then he wired 2 outlets to be powered constantly and not controlled by a switch. The switch then was rewired to a pre-installed chandelier. A small piece of drywall was cut out to make the rewiring of the switch faster. After that, an old fan had been replaced and I could not get the old wiring figured out to make it work again. Scott figured it out and corrected the old wiring. Then he wired an additional hall light fixture. Dennis gave me a discount and was the only person I called out of about a dozen that gave me any interest in my job.
Description of Work: Scott fixed a cluster f*** of wires left by the previous owner. Two outlets on a switch, an entry light, exterior light, and an exterior outlet where all wired though a single switch box. The wiring for a fan was corrected and an additional hall light was wired.

We enjoyed working for this member, he did a lot of research on my company prior to me showing up at his home for the initial estimate. I joked that he knew more about me than I. He had every report printed from Angie's list on his table. This member knew exactly what he wanted and who he wanted to do the work. This is a testament to how well Angie's list works. We enjoy the comments by members and thank them for posting pictures of their projects for others to see. Thanks again..... Dennis, Owner Call Mr Fixit

Mr. fix It came on time, which less face it...is a rarity in the home remodeling business! We had a hard time getting a meeting set up initially, but throughout the entire time (a few weeks due to difficulties with my schedule) he was in contact! Once he came, he walked around the house with me and went over a VERY lengthy list of things I needed to do to the house prior to a move-out. The house was going to be rented in a couple of weeks. He was knowledgeable about the things I needed done and expertly steered me away from things that would have been a waste of my money for a rental, instead helping me concentrate on a plan of action to wisely budget myself on the improvements. He was so knowledgeable in fact, that he solved my basement collecting water issue in under ten minutes...previous contractors at the house didn't even know what an egress well was for!!! Not Dennis, he said, "Turn on that hose!" And showed me in a few minutes with a hose and a flashlight a solution to a problem that has plagued me (and stumped me!) for nearly 18 months. Wow! I had no expectation that we would have the above items finished prior to my renters' move-in, which they were wonderful about, but Dennis further blew me away by saying, no no no, he was going to have it done with days to spare! Even though at this point I liked him and trusted him I was still doubtful. Again, I let my experience with other contractors cloud my judgement...usually in Fayetteville if they tell you it will take two weeks, it's more like two months. Well, much to my complete shock, two days later Dennis rolls his trailer in to my yard, and in less than a week, work is done, check in hand, and my house was ready for my renters! My new window looks fantastic, the transition from door to wall is smooth and the new trim and molding (the house is an older home with baseboards and caps that can no longer be bought) are seamless. Too bad I had such a nice room with less than a week to enjoy it! The biggest thing, though, is that when Hurricane Irene dumped water in Fayetteville and I was in Rhode Island, prepping for whatever came our way...our basement was dry. I knew that the basement collected water from those stupid egress wells if more than an inch of water came down in an hour. Even though the covers looked awesome, I still was concerned...I mean, it's a hurricane! I told our renter to lay down some towels and that night I was consumed with terrible fears of her calling, crying that her things had been damaged... No such call ever came. Dennis's solution was superb and I was able to take care of business and focus on our damage in RI without thoughts of financial ruin! He was courteous, prompt -- so prompt, that many a morning I greeted him bleary-eyed and still in my PJs! -- and polite. I blew a kitchen fuse and Scotty (on his team) is a trained electrician. For no additional cost or even a bat of an eyelash, he carefully found the problem and repaired the outlet! We even had more cracked panes in our windows discovered and Dennis did not change our estimate. Everyone on the team was wonderful and I felt safe with them in the home (I was alone with my two children who were sometimes very much in the way as all of our goods were already on a moving truck!) They even hauled away a half of a trailer full of my trash, just to be helpful. Besides Dennis and Scotty (who I just mentioned) Mike also was a pleasure to work with. That week was so HOT, triple digits and high humidity and that man never stopped! Mike did a fantastic job on the roof patch and all the trim work, again, I was completely floored with how efficient and careful they were...my yard looked just as clean as when they arrived (which was another first, as usually - with previous contractors - I am picking up nails, screws, debris out of the grass before my kids are cleared to run about!) and I will now call on Dennis no matter how big or small the job is to take care of things in my absence. I know I can trust his opinion and direction, and that is a rare thing to feel these days.
Description of Work: Quite a laundry list! 1. Repair leaking garage roof. 2. Remove door over sundeck. 3. Frame in openning to accomodate window. 4. Install window (where door previously was located). 5. Install flashing and siding to exterior around window. 6. Repair drywall around interior of new window. 7. Install new trim around interior window to include a sill and baseboards. 8. Reglaze exterior sunroom windows (4 large ones!) and paint exterior wood. 9. Remove and repair broken window panes in house windows, reglaze and paint (4 or 5 total). 10. Remove egress well covers and install/modify new covers to prevent egress wall from collecting water and therefore leaking into basement.

Arrived on time and noticed the new ceiling fans in boxes in my garage for the 3 extra bedrooms. Asked if I wanted them installed and said it wouldn't take them a second to install. He also fixed two other fans that were wired incorrectly by Caviness and Cates who built the house and touched up the scratches throughout the house from the movers. Poured the foundation for the shed and framed it the next day. Roof and siding were up in no time and his recommendation for the double doors really looks nice and allows easy access for larger items. Great job! Third time I have used Dennis and his crew, and I will use them for all of my repairs and I have already recommended him to several friends who are just as satisfied!
Description of Work: Built a storage shed to match my house. And even installed three ceiling fans; fixed the wall outlets on two others while he was there; and did touch up paint where the movers had scratched the doorways and walls!

Excellent job! Extended the concrete patio along the back side of my house by adding two more identical sections that perfectly blended into the existing one. Built a 12 x 14 pergola so that I could have a comfortable outdoor setting and the result was phenomenal. Just look at the pictures to see the wonderful addition to my property. Dennis has a great crew who are personable; efficient; and professional. I will only use Mr. Fix-It for all of my future improvements and additions and already have contracted him to build a storage shed.

I use this room to allow my Great Dane access in and out of the house and now I can clean her off and quickly clean up any messes from bad weather due to the drain that Dennis recommended installing. The ceramic tile also makes cleaning up dirt and mud much easier. Everyone that visits is impressed by the improvement and the appearance that it was part of the original construction. Using vinyl on the interior walls was a great idea even though I was hesitant in the beginning. I am glad that Dennis recommended it to keep the blend with the existing construction. Great work and great people! Best of all they finished ahead of schedule and under budget. Easy to communicate with and understand. Would definitely use again!
Description of Work: Excellent work and wonderful approach to providing valuable advice and recommendations to completed product. Screened in porch was completely enclosed with the same vinyl siding on the house used on the exterior and interior of the porch. The drywall was on the ceiling and would require it to be cut out, taped and skim coat prior to the texture being applied. This is more than a one day process. Customers that use Angie's list to complain about price or responsiveness to a small job.obviously, have NO IDEA WHAT IS INVOLVED in removing 3' x 3' drywall on a textured ceiling. More often than not these are the same customers that feel their job is the only thing a contractor has to do on a given day or replace and hire someone for just a labor rate and later call us to repair the work they had done for a LOW PRICE.

They were very responsive and polite. The only problem I experienced was their price.
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate for a 21' brick wall at the side of my house. He came over and provided me an estimate almost immediately. His estimate was almost $700 higher than the company that actually did the job. If I had the other side of the house done at the same time the price would of been greatly reduced, but I was hesitant about giving him close to $6000.

Call Mr. Fixit beat all other four estimates (including Re-Bath, Bath Fitter and Premier Bath) with up to $3000 dollars. This does not mean they had cheap products. Their product was industry standard good stuff. All other contractors want to estimate what they think of needs to be done on MY BATHROOM rather than what I NEEDED to be done for my conditions. In other words they were ignoring my plans for my place. I was skeptical to start with due to working with both good and bad contractors in the past. However Call Mr. Fixit, started the work in schedule time and finished on time as promised. The finish product looks real good. This was an important since my Dad was coming back from nursing home on next day after they complete their work successfully. My family is enjoying the newly renovated bathroom. Now I am jealous of shower door that other bathroom in house do not have. I get to know the owner of Call Mr. Fixit better now. One thing I want to remind them that they are going to provide me maintenance paperwork for shower base and door but somehow did not get it. I keep all the O & M Manuals for everything I buy for future maintenance reference.
Description of Work: The service performed was to convert the existing bathroom tub into the walk in shower base including ADA complaint grab bars, replacing shower curtain with new sliding shower door and all associated plumbing fixtures including drains. It also include some drywall work and painting to match existing conditions. This work was to accommodate the loved ones for easy access of in and out of bathroom.

As a Father's Day gift, my husband and I decided to remove the garage door, and replace it with a wall unit, and a 36" door. Our intent is to convert the space into a Man Cave/ Media Room. I selected three company's for estimates, and out of the three, Denise from Mr. Fix It was the only company who responded on the first call. Denise came to the house on time, with a firm hand shake, and provided us a written estimate that included time, cost, and labor on 9 June 2011. The four person team arrived 16 June 2011, on time, quite, and about business. The project was completed 17 June 2011, (minus interior painting) From the outside, it's flawless. No outline of an garage door appears, and the the exterior paint was matched perfect. My husband and I were pleased with the results, and asked for another estimate for more home repair before they departed.

It took us a few days to finally get in touch with Dennis for an estimate, but we found that to be the case with almost every contractor we called. When he came to our home initially, he was very polite and very professional. He had just done some work for one of our neighbors, so we had seen his work firsthand already. So when we were happy with his estimate, we hired him that same day. They started work the following week, sending a mason (Cheyenne Spell, with whom we were VERY pleased and would ABSOLUTELY hire again, as he does beautiful work!!) to add the new brick masonry wall, which would be the outer wall of the new section of patio. The wall looked GREAT. Very nice work. Then over the consecutive 2 weeks, footers were dug and built, concrete was poured in the upper patio, then lower, and then steps and a brick border were added. There were a few glitches along the way (had to change our initial plan slightly from original, due to variation of the ground level in our yard) but were all handled in a timely manner. We are very pleased with the finished product. If we HAD to pick one thing Dennis could improve on, it would be communication with his sub-contractors, as the concrete workers seemed confused a few times as to when things were supposed to be done. So we rated the company a "B' for that. But otherwise all A's. One of my biggest concerns was that the new patio concrete would match that of the existing section. They did a great job, and it all matches very nicely. The only deviation from the estimate was that we chose to add a brick border to the new lower patio. Everything else cost exactly what Dennis said it would. One thing we really liked about Dennis, is that he allowed us to complete the backfill into the raised patio ourselves, which saved us a few hundred dollars. Overall, working with this company was a good experience and we are happy with our patio addition.
Description of Work: Expanded an existing raised concrete patio, added a new brick masonry wall, added a round lower level patio, added round brick masonry steps.

This is the third time I have used 'Call Mr. Fixit.' Each time I use them I am more impressed with the work they do. Dennis' crew was much cleaner than the other contractors we had in the house at the time. All work was finished early. They were courteous to my tenant and we were able to work through all the particulars while I was out of state. We did this over the phone and internet. If you are far away and rent your house, Dennis and his crew are your ideal contractors. For any work on my house I will call Dennis first.
Description of Work: Dennis and his employees performed a wonderful job turning an unfinished room into a nice bedroom. Here's a list of work they did and all of it was well done: -installed stairs and railing -rewired the room -built a closet -installed ceiling fan -drywalled an unusually shaped room -installed attic fans -baseboards, paint, and finishing -installed a separate climate control system (included drain hose, concrete pad, circuit breaker, and installation of the split unit)

I decided to remodel my kitchen for home resale. called Mr. fix it based on the rating from this site. when i received a quote i was told it was a 4 day job for most of the work but it ended up taking a whole month. I wrote the first check for half of the cost on sept 8th with work to begin a few days after(the cabinet replacement was added halfway through) but the last day of work completed was on oct 8th with one small detail left on the counter (side piece on counter top). a lot of the work done was average and some minor mistakes were made and needed to be "covered up". They failed to ensure my range would fit in between my two base cabinets when they came to fix that problem the next day i was unable to leave work to let them in and i was then told i would have to wait until Wednesday of next week(this was on a thursday)i had to argue just to get a guy to fix it the next day, a patch on my living room drywall is obvious. the paint job was not what i expected from a professional contractor. some of the flooring in the kitchen is now beginning to unstick from the floor. They did do some minor work for free around the house, a drywall patch in the master bedroom and another patch in another room. It seemed like my remodel was a low priority job for them and they never worked past 3-4pm to get the job done. The workers need to be supervised constantly just to ensure they do the job right.

Response from Call Mr Fixit
The member, was informed prior to his work starting that I had several jobs in front of him and that i would start his job in 2 weeks. He was told that the job would take 4 days as the original job was simply painting, He added the kitchen cabinets and counter tops later in the job. We went over several times for a few hours between jobs (before the 2 week scheduled start time-frame) in effort to accommodate his time-line, he was in a hurry to get the repairs done to list his home for sale. He was more more than aware of the time-line. The baseboard throughout the house had "globs" of caulk all over it making the paint lines seem uneven. I told him that to repair it would cost more, he declined and said it was acceptable. Throughout the job the member's main focus was cost trying to cut every corner and use the cheapest material possible. I did do several things for him without charge to include drywall repair in 2 bedrooms and repaired his front door. His repayment for this was an obvious misrepresentation of the quality work we did there at his home. Jose would not be present in order for my crew to gain access to the home on several occasions specifically once my crew waited from 8AM until 11 AM for him to open the door. His work was done to standard, his misrepresentation of the quality and the facts of this work was based on him telling me he could not be there to open the door the following day. He became belligerent and cursed me over the phone because i could not accommodate HIS SCHEDULE. Based on my schedule i absolutely could not be there to do a 10 min repair until the following Wednesday because we had moved our work trailer out of town for another job. I sent my foreman to the new job-site for tools 40 miles away and to his house the following day for the repair. He failed to mention that he did the research for the cabinets at the Home Depot. He assured me that all the cabinets were there, They were NOT, I had to go to another Home Depot Store 60 miles away to get 1 cabinet. He was suppose to meet me at the Home Depot to pay for the cabinets he could not be there. I purchased them and transported them to his home. There was 1 end piece for the counter top that was not available at the store I had him keep $50 in escrow until it comes in and was installed The member was satisfied with the work despite his grading in this report which was an intentional "dig" He paid us promptly at the completion.

I have to say that Dennis worked with us well from the very beginning. He was very professional and included everything he was going to do in the contract. If there were changes or additions, there was an addendum to the contract made. My husband and I didn't agree with each other on all details, and Dennis did his best to make both of us happy. From the very first day the crew arrived on time and every day thereafter. The first day the old deck was demolished and hauled away and the footing for the porch was dug out. The concrete foundation was poured, and the next day the brick layers came. Two days after that the concrete truck came to pour the porch. Then they began on the roof and worked very h****** a hot roof in the 90+ degree weather. The roof took the longest because of the heat. They worked from very early until it got so hot they couldn't work with the shingles. They repaired one place on the roof that had some rot & mold. Either I or both my husband and I were at home when most of the work was being done...asking questions, watching them work, maybe changing our ideas sometime. If any problems or concerns arose, they were addressed courteously and immediately. Dennis and crew were always very courteous, helpful, accomodating. As soon as the roof was done, we had a very hard rain for 2 days. There were 2 small leaks that were quickly and professionally repaired. The last work done was the replacement of the door and windows and the vinyl wrapping around them. I am more pleased with the project that I thought I would be. The work is excellent (we watched it from inside out), and Dennis did several little things along the way at no charge. Thanks also to Mike, Rickey, Cheyenne and the whole crew for a job well done. I can't wait now to get new patio furniture and hang plants on my beautiful new porch/patio. UPDATE- Sept 2011 We have now had our porch for one year and have spent one whole summer with it. Every day I come out on it, I say "I love my porch!" Because it has a roof and 2 ceiling fans, we've been able to be outside much more during the summer. I now have nice patio furniture and plants that are also protected because they're covered. It's just beautiful and serene....Thank you Dennis!
Description of Work: We were to have an entire large L-shaped roof re-shingled with architectural shingles and a ridge vent made; tear down and dispose of a wooden deck; and make a 24' x 14' raised concrete porch (about a foot and a half high) with brick (to match the house brick) trim. The roof was to be extended over the porch around a chimney, a long brick step built across the front, and railing on the sides of the porch. All exposed wood on the porch was to be wrapped with vinyl or painted to match the trim on the rest of the house, and a vinyl ceiling wired for 2 ceiling fans put in the porch. Two skylights over the great room, two custom-made windows, and the atrium door were to be replaced, and any dry rot under the old ones fixed.

It was an absolute pleasure working with the members. My crew and i enjoyed the morning meetings. The crew also appreciated the ice water on the blistering days they spent on the roof. They are a wonderful couple and I wish them the best life has to give them. Additionally I wish the member all the happiness in his retirement. Sincerely, Dennis Owner Call Mr Fixit LLC

3 years later the quality of his concrete work is evident and the concrete drains perfectly with no problems and no cracking. He did such a good job I recommended him to our neighbor who had her driveway redone by him. As a result of the quality of his work and professionalism we called him first to repair significant damage from our tenants. He is very professional and will provide a detailed estimate. He will show up on time and do a walk through and talk through to make sure he captures everything you want done. He will also stay in contact with you over the phone and email if you prefer. Dennis will also take pictures and email them to you. This is nice because it eliminates any worry. We reside out of state now so the most recent work is done over phone and email. Dennis is very accommodating and charges 1/2 up front and 1/2 when the job is complete, which I think is very fair having dealt with other contractors. Dennis has a fine touch where he looks after the small things like repairing the trim and painting the whole wall instead of taking a shortcut and just painting the patch. He will also treat your house and repair/fix as if it was his own. I will definitely use Dennis again (within a few weeks)
Description of Work: In 2007 Dennis extended my driveway poured a concrete pad near my deck and installed a French drain. In April 2010 Dennis repaired 3 sizeable holes (about 1 square foot) in my drywall and countless smaller holes that had been made by a knife. He also repaired all the drywall behind the interior doors where the door handles had been forced through the drywall. For the framing portion Dennis repaired my exterior door frame where the door had been kicked it.
