Day 1) Compressor went bad, leak in heat exchanger also discovered during service call. Day 2) Project manager did preliminaries including discussions of various replacement units. Day 3) installation crew did the install. | |All contacts were on time and professional.

They arrived on time, they were professional as well as courteous, and they made recommendations on what to do to the unit. Ultimately, it was a routine experience with nothing out of the ordinary.

Installed a new HVAC system and we are very pleased so far. These guys were prompt, responsible, neat, responsive to our request and did exactly what they said they would do in the time-frame that they promised. Would definitely look to hire Yellow Dot again.

Although I had to replace the unit, but I was happy with their service. The guy that came was really good.

Yellow Dot provided excellent service. The cleaning was the best I have ever seen performed and made me realize what a poor job other companies were doing. The technician found a cracked heat exchange, unfortunately, and we were required to replace the entire unit in the fall, but the summer AC worked wonderfully. The technician was thorough, professional, punctual and even took the time to show me the crack on the heat exchange and to explains the potential dangers. Great service! Glad I had Angie's List to know that this company was top rated!

I would never call this company again. I had a known gas pilot valve that needed to be replaced for my heater. Before the call, we knew exactly what needed to occur; PSNC, our gas company, had come to our house and inspected the heater; they reported a minor leak and the exact valve that needed to be replaced. They estimated the charge to be somewhere between $200-$300. | |This company charged $90 to come out, did not break their charges down (into parts versus labor charges, etc) and charged a total of $630 for a very simple repair in less than 50 min total. The valve was common enough that he had it in his truck. | |I am outraged about the pricing and would never call this company back again.

The a/c was repaired in the early summer and I purchased the service "contract." On November 11, 2013, the technician came and examined my furnace. He found a weak capacitor and told me it needed to be replaced. I asked him how much it would cost, he looked it up, and quoted a figure of almost $80. So, I looked up the price of the capacitor and found that it was a ~$5 part. I told the Yellow Dot tech I found that it was a $5 part and asked why it costs so much. The tech said "For the labor." I said, "What labor? You already have the furnace open, it will take you two minutes to put in the capacitor." He apologized and said he understood, but that he was just the messenger, that the office set the prices. So, their November visit to my house, supposedly already paid for in the service contract, actually wasn't included at all. They found a $5 part that needed replacing, which took the tech 2 minutes to install, and charged me $83 for it. This is a very under-handed business practice, peddaling a so-called "service contract", telling the customer it will include the cost of a November visit to my house but really did not, and then, charging me $83 to install a $5 part that took 2 minutes. I do not recommend this business and will not use it again. If you use this business, I would steer clear of their "service contract."

Had Yellow Dot come out and give us a quote to replace our broken Carrier gas pack. We'd had a maintenance contract with another HVAC company (Environmental Air) from when they'd replaced our a/c last year. However, we weren't overly impressed with their professionalism when they replaced the a/c so knew we weren't going to hire them to replace the furnace once the problem was discovered. (I wasn't a member of Angie's List when I originally hired Enviro Air spring of 2012.) Similar to others' reviews, our experience with Yellow Dot was excellent from start to finish. Jimmy Hughes, our project manager, came out and did a *very thorough* assessment of the current duct work, whether the # of exchanges we had was appropriate for the space, etc. (Note, our other HVAC company never did any of this). He gave us two choices (simple replacement of the gas pack or an upgrade to a two stage unit that saves energy over time) and was not at all high pressure about which we should do. He left it up to us and how long we would be in the house since the energy savings really wouldn't be seen until after the 4 or 5 year mark so to consider that as we decided whether to spend the money upfront for it. He was here for almost an hour doing the evaluation and giving information. We went with the more expensive, two stage gas pack unit as we intend to be here for at least another 10 years. We were able to take advantage of an excellent 0% finance option through Trane. Given the unexpected cold snap and the fact that it wasn't safe to turn on the heat, Jimmy was able to schedule us for today (I called on Tues. to say we wanted to hire them). Jimmy came out this a.m., reviewed the financing paperwork and introduced us to his two installers. The installers were both professional and pleasant (and didn't mind my big dog's curiosity about what they were doing and why!). It was a quick (approximately 4 hours), efficient install. They checked the new thermostat and the unit before they left, of course, and made sure the new carbon monoxide detectors were well-placed. Yellow Dot seems to really care about their reputation in the field. We've hired them to do the annual maintenance based on our experience and Angie's List reviews. Also, it may seem like a small detail, but their work area was cleaned up of all debris when they left (not true of our previous HVAC co.) and they made sure to haul the unit the long way around , across our backyard and up the side, so as not to disturb our neighbor's grass (unit along property line in a mulched area). Small considerations that go a long way. Top notch experience from start to finish. Thanks.

He was very nice and very helpful. He took it apart and showed me everything that may need replaced.

Went very well. Response was quick once I called them. Service very honest. Coupon was for $99.00, but had to have 2 lbs of freeon added.

I don't think that was such a great big deal for what they did but it was okay.

They were excellent, punctual and courteous. Gave a thorough explanation of what they were doing and how the system appeared. They answered all questions we had.

We liked their service. They were very professional and had a reasonable price. I liked that they didn’t try to sell extra services. Our systems are older and others have recommended that we replace them, but this company explained they are good systems and just need maintenance and occasional repairs. They have done some repair for us since this service and we now have a service contract with them to check the AC and furnace each year.

Technician was prompt, courteous, very thorough and extremely efficient. Service was complicated by lax attention to service requirement s performed by previous service contractor. Extra effort was needed to remedy prior service oversights. A/C unit appeared as new when service was completed. Job satisfaction resulted in an extension of service to include heating service in Fall. I was impressed by the technicians competence and the quality of the work.

Yellow Dot rescheduled my appointment the "day of "once due to the technician being sick - understandable and I rescheduled for later the same week. Unfortunately, that day the service technician called to tell me he would be half an hour late. Not great, but still okay. Then...10 minutes after he told me he would arrive (and still 40 minutes after he was suppose to) he called to say he would be at least another 30 minutes late. Time management of other projects can be trying, and I understand that...but I took time off of work on both days to meet this company and did not feel as though my time was respected. I did call the office to try and express my dissatisfaction and left a message. Have not heard back, but again this just happened.

These guys are awesome. We bought a coupon for a yearly checkup/cleaning - but then two days before appointment our AC went out. They came out - suggested a yearly maintenence plan for only 49 more - and then comped us the minor repair. They explained why in our case the maintenance plan is really a great idea (under our house is very wet - that is another ordeal) and until that problem can be 100% fixed - our ac is in a precarious place. They did have to come back since the man coming to the emergency call (on a Saturday) was a supervisor and didn't have some of the right equipment for routine cleaning. But both trips were awesome.

The A/C was not cooling. I bought a coupon to have the unit inspected, cleaned, tuned up and have refirgerant added. After the work was done, the unit cooled correctly. The technician, Joe, was very professional. He explained every thing he did, and answered all my questions.

I purchased a coupon on Angie's list for an AC inspection and tune up for $99. This coupon included 1lb of refrigerant charge if needed. The inspection and tune up were carried out and the tech seemed very nice. My unit needed two pounds of refrigerant. The first pound was covered by the coupon, the second I had to pay for. This seemed fair until I did a little investigating... The way refrigerant charging works is that for the first pound you normally pay more. This is because of the setup and such. Then, additional pounds are discounted... almost half of the price. Well, even though the first pound of refrigerant was covered by the coupon and I should have paid the reduced price for the second pound of refrigerant, that isn't what happened. For my second pound of refrigerant I was charged like it was the first pound. I contacted Yellow Dot about this after the fact and they basically told me that even though I had a coupon I had to pay like it was my first pound of refrigerant for the second pound. This seems pretty sketchy to me. No place on the coupon does it state this. I feel it is deceitful and just plain wrong. I will not be using Yellow Dot again since I can not trust them to bill ethically. Not to mention, when I called them to ask about this they were not helpful at all.

The estimator showed up on time and was pleasant to speak with. He did a thorough inspection and answered our questions. His estimate was just a little above the company we ultimately went with but we were very comfortable working with him.
