Yellow Dot Heating & Air Conditioning

I would never recommend or trust this provider. My AC still doesn't cool the house despite running the majority of the time. The individual that came out said that the AC was fine but that there was an electrical problem that caused the unit to turn off right after it came on. In order to fix it he said he would have to charge me for additionally fee for the visit under the code "unit won't turn on." He got it working for that day but it failed to work the next day. I called and scheduled a follow up and they wanted to charge me again for initial service. I decided not to use them and instead hired another company to repair the unit.

True to their reputation for quality work and honesty, the project manager, Joe, was scrupulously honest. In the end, the duct work in that house is not my problem, but Yellow Dot is my solution for any HVAC-related work.

I had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out excellent. The purchase price was $99, and there were no additional charges.

I bought an HVAC from Yellow Dot last year. When I bought the big deal I remembered a few minutes later that I was supposed to call them directly to set up a service, because there would be a discount because of the HVAC purchase. I set up a service with them on Aug 5th and I am happy with them.

They came quickly - were available the next day. Diagnosed and replaced broken duct work on the spot - no separate appointment needed. Representative was very courteous and did quality work quickly.

It went very well. I called into dispatch and they took all my information. They sent it out to the technician and he called me back very quickly. We wanted service that night (it was 90 degrees in our house). He said his next available time was between 11 and midnight but that he would be there. He ended up with a cancellation and was able to come sooner. He called to make sure that was okay with us. Our technician was Joe and he was awesome. Very friendly and personable yet professional. He let us come out and watch what he did. We are new homeowners so we are very interested in how our systems work. He explained everything. It turned out to be a bad capacitor. He told us how much it was and asked if we wanted him to fix it. He went to the truck, got the part and installed it. Again, he let us watch and was telling us what he was doing and stuff about our unit. It was also making a noise that he said is not harmful. He explained what was causing it and how much it would be to fix it if we decided it was annoying enough to fix. (It is. We will definitely be calling back and requesting Joe to come take care of it for us later.) The whole thing seemed to take less than a half hour. My only complaint is not with Joe and I understand why but they do not work with home warranty people. You have to pay up front and get reimbursed. For a $230 repair, this is not a big deal, but if our unit needed replacing, I'm not sure we could swing that. However, in order to work with Joe and Yellow Dot again, we would try to figure out how. (None of the other companies we contacted would work with home warranty people either and no one else would come out that night either. The other companies couldn't come out until Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Thursday to Monday is a long time to go without AC in the hottest week of the year so far!) We will definitely be using Yellow Dot again for HVAC repairs. Considering our unit is 15 years old, we might be calling them a lot. Again, Joe was awesome. He's the kind of guy you'd want to invite over for a beer sometime. Thanks, Joe! You rock!

Our upstairs HVAC decided to quit working as soon as it got to be 90 degrees out. I called Yellow Dot and they had a technician out the same afternoon. When we decided it was most cost effective to replace our 20 year old unit, they had it installed the next day. That means so much to a woman that is 8 months pregnant! Their technicians, installers and sales staff are all honest and reliable. I highly recommend them!

Arrived punctually. Installed our new heat pump. we had received estimates from a couple of companies and liked this one. They did excellent work.

They easily fixed the problem with a furnace (wire shorted out) and came again another time to do the maintenance for the A/C. Very pleased with their communication and service!

We hired Yellow Dot to install a new HVAC system for the first floor in our house last year. The results were very good on that project, so we decided to try them again for the replacement of our 2nd/3rd floor system which had reaching it's end of life. I met with the salesman, and HVAC expert, Joe Anfuso to go over my options and get a price quote. I must say that his enthusiasm for, and knowlege of, HVAC systems was impressive. It's really enjoyable to work with someone who loves what he is doing. I felt the pricing for the system we chose was fair, and so we hired Yellow Dot to do the job. The installation went wonderfully. Joe and the tech team were quick, professional, and respectful of our home while installing the system. One hiccup was that a component which provided advanced functionality for the thermostat was back ordered from Trane. Joe made sure that our system's basic operations were working and that we were comfortable until the component arrived. When the part did come in, the team installed it quickly. I thought we were done until my wife, who has sensitive ears, said that in a bedroom directly below the HVAC unit there was a vibration noise louder than with our previous unit. I could not hear this, but Joe and the guys got back right away and installed noise dampers at the mounting points of the unit. Problem solved. No charge. In summary ... the system works much better than the one it replaced, the experience was great, and I would unconditionally recommend these folks. Thanks Yellow Dot!

Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend our downstairs A/C stopped cooling. It was blowing cool air but it wasn't cold. We called the guy we've used for the last 8 years and found his business phone disconnected. I turned to Angie's List and found Yellow Dot. I chose them because they had a good rating, good reviews, were relatively close by, and were a local company. I called at 8 am Friday and the woman who answered (she told me her name but I forgot) told me they would get someone out here that day. She didn't know when but would call me a half hour before they came. Fortunately, I didn't have to work that day so being flexible was no problem. I got a call about 2:30 and Joe arrived about 3 pm. I told him what was going on and that the compressor had been replaced two years ago. He checked it out and explained that we have a leak (which we figured) and explained the options and costs for trying to find it. He recommended adding coolant now and waiting to see how long it was before we needed to add more before deciding whether to try to locate the leak or to replace the system since it is relatively old. At no point did he try to sell me on anything. Joe was professional, knowledgeable, and sincere. I asked him a lot of questions about the company since I had not heard of them before. He told me he'd worked for them for 15 years and that it's the best company he's ever worked for. He said the owners give the employees the authority 'to do the right thing'. We will certainly call Yellow Dot again the next time we need HVAC service!

It turned out okay. I would recommend them, but I found someone who is better than them.

Our attic AC system died two weeks ago, during the first 90 degree week of the year. We called several HVAC providers for estimates, including one with whom we have a service contract for yearly maintenance of our units. Many providers scheduled appointments and then rescheduled or cancelled due to their workload, or during the estimate spent an hour showing us various reviews of their company/warranty but never really got down to what our home needed during their visit, sending an estimate the following day. Yellow Dot was recommended to us by a friend and they sent Norm, who was on time for our scheduled appointment and got right to work assessing our unit, and then prepared his proposal and recommendations on location and brought them in for us to review. He educated us on what types of systems were out there, what our home needed, and their pricing was very fair and within what we were hoping to spend on new system. Norm also recommended that we move some of the duct work from the attic ceiling to an attic wall to help make our unit more efficient and included that in the estimate (we did have this done). He wasn't sales-y or pitchy, and his presentation was one of the big reasons we chose Yellow Dot. We scheduled installation for the following week and Norm was here by 8am with the installers following soon after. Everyone was very professional and knowledgeable; the installers worked several hours in our attic in 90 degree heat, were friendly and answered our questions, and even cleaned up when they were done. We will certainly be calling them in the future should we have any issues!

Scheduling mishaps prevented the service from occurring. However company were professional and I retained them again at a later time. Sadly after the offer had expired.

I called Monday morning, because our upstairs AC unit had not been cooling properly over the weekend. The woman who set up the appointment said that a technician could come out on the same day, but that she could not give a time, only that they would call about 30 minutes ahead. That worked for us, because we could continue to go about our workdays as planned, and just pop home when the technician was on his way. Projected costs (service call fee + any repairs) also were discussed up front. The technician, Cesar, arrived within 30 minutes of the notification phone call, and he was very professional, polite and efficient. His explanations of the problem and cost of repairs were clear, and he completed the work as promised. Even though we only called about the repair of one unit, he could tell that the other unit needed some maintenance and explained the benefits of being on an annual contract and how it would save us money throughout the year on our aging systems. That's what we did. Obviously we will use them again. I was happy to have found them through Angie's List.

I liked everything. I recommended them to my neighbor. They were punctual, responsive and professional. The price was good. They were good.

It was raining but they still came out and did the job. The installers were good. The project manager who came out and decided what we need was also good. They followed up to see if the city inspector had scheduled. They put up a little tent and worked.

We purchased a new home back in December 2013 with the A/C heating unit installed by Yellow Dot. So far the unit has been nothing but trouble. Right from the start the damper in the system was installed incorrectly and we had the indoor temperature going all over the place (from low 60s to 80 even though it's set at 70). It took them multiple visits (and much of my work leave) to finally figure out what the problem is. 3 months after we bought the house, the thermostats of the unit just went blank even though the rest of the house has power. Called them regarding the issue and they can't think of a reason why and try to blame the wiring of the house, and then they said they would charge $125 to come out for after hour work even though it's under warranty, and they said they might not be able to fix it. And they have the audacity to try to sell me their tune-up and annual maintenance plans. I would not use the company if I could help it.

It was good. The technician was interested in our concerns and explained everything and what they were going to do and what they found. They were very responsive. They got the job completed in about 45 minutes to an hour.

We had a maintenance agreement with them. They gave us some bad news, but I can't say enough about the professionalism and the thorough service. The serviceman even took pictures of the unit under the house so he could show us what the problems were. We would not hesitate to call them again.

The service was fine. They did everything they were supposed to do. We also used them to do a repair for us afterwards as well. They guy who came out the second time worked really hard to get the repair done. It was extremely hot outside, so they had to come back out the next day and were able to get the unit repaired.

The first technician arrived in a punctual fashion and was friendly. He performed service on both of my units leaving a note that both systems were in good working order, I have this on my receipt to show. He did replace approximately 3 pounds of R22 refrigerant in my upstairs unit. Thinking I would be saving money I purchased a contract for them to return in the spring for another service . Exactly 2 weeks later all of my refrigerant had leaked out again upstairs, and it was blistering hot. I called Yellow Dot to report the situation and that I had just recently had service. They sent someone out and he charged me $126.65 for a leak search, and told me I needed a new unit because my coils were so corroded, he said my other option was to repair the system, but that it would not be compatible with newer refrigerant when supplies of R22 ran out. He flatly refused to replace any of the refrigerant in my upstairs unit, saying that it would just leak right back out, mind you it had taken at least a year or more for the previous refrigerant to get to a level that was problematic, two weeks was shocking. This occurred on a Friday, so I was basically to suffer all weekend with my three year old until someone could help me, however long that took. Monday came Tuesday came, no call from anyone at Yellow Dot. Finally I called my brother and asked if he had any advice about finding another provider. He put me in touch with another man who worked on his own, Charles. Charles offered me the option of replacing my air handler (for around $2000) instead of an entire system (for at least $4000 according to Yellow Dot tech i had last seen). He also told me that the new air handler would be compatible with newer refrigerant. Recognizing that we were experiencing very extreme temperatures he did replace my refrigerant to keep me comfortable until the parts arrived. It wasn't until about a month later when my service was complete. At that time Charles was required to pull out all of the refrigerant they had been in the air handler previously. He stated that almost none of it was gone. I felt is if the second technician did not do a good job and basically went ahead and tried to sell me the most expensive option because he gets some kind of commission out of it. In January I was contacted to schedule my spring service that I had already paid for in my contract and I told them to keep it because I didn't trust them to come to my house anymore. Understandably, the customer service rep was a little alarmed by this and took my information down saying. that someone would contact me from management. I am still waiting on that call weeks and weeks later.

They were very good. They told me what happened and explained it to me very well. They told me what I have to do as well.

It went really, really well. He was extremely professional and explained everything very clearly. He fixed the problem in a couple of hours (including the time it took to drive to get the part).
