Description of Work: In the fall of 2013 I purchased a Fall and Spring HVAC service package special from Yellow Dot for $239. My home has two units; one in the crawlspace and the other in the attic. The technicians that work at Yellow Dot are very knowledgable and take the time to talk about the system and discuss issues. The main compliant I have about this company is the follow-up and billing practices. |After my HVAC was serviced in Sep 2013, one month later the crawlspace system went down on a Thursday in Oct. I called Yellow Dot and they said a tech would be out sometime on Friday afternoon. Well Friday afternoon went by and no tech so I called the company again and they said a job had just finished up an a tech would be out on Friday night. No tech showed up. Meanwhile I was at home waiting the entire time. I called on Saturday morning and the company was closed, so I called the tech on duty number and was finally able to get the system worked on that afternoon. The condensation pump went out and I was charged $280 for the service call. I know this pump part is $50 brand new and even through I had a service package with Yellow Dot I was charged almost three hundred dollars. The original price was even higher when they tried to charge me for a Saturday service call. |During my Spring service call in April 2014 the tech was once again very knowledgeable and tested the system completely. They called me at work (my wife was home that day) and said one of the capacitors was going to fail in the next couple of months, so I said to replace it. My mistake was I should have asked for the price or they should have mentioned it. It ended costing me $170 for a capacitor , almost six times the price at a hardware store and they were already out there for the scheduled service call. After the tech had installed the part he told me the price and I was very surprised to say the least. I asked him if the cost could be lowered since I hired them to perform service work and plugging in a new capacitor is not a time consuming job. The tech called me back and said the manager said "no" to a price break and said all prices are based on catalog pricing. Well this experience was disappointing, I was trying to establish a HVAC service company relationship for my new home (build in 1987). I will not be using Yellow Dot again. Total spent in 8 months on HVAC service $239 Sep + $280 Oct + $170 Apr = $689
