They have been great, they come quickly and do a good job. He said they do not normally come on weekends unless an emergency but they came out on a Saturday for us. They were very good, prompt and professional. We have two units and one was above the attic and he had to climb crazy stairs to get to it and he was great. They explained everything before they did it, which was nice, like here is what the problem was. They were here when they said and were here almost right away, either that day or the next day.

Technician (Moe) was professional and prompt throughout the process. Moe diagnosed the issue as part of an air conditioning maintenance appointment and returned the following week to install the new evaporator coil. He was able to quickly and effectively replace the evaporator coil. Moe provided clear information on the nature of the problem and also let me know that I should look into a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of the evaporator coil (Lennox) to try to get some of the labor cost refunded. (the part was covered under warranty) Although there was an accidental oil spill on the porch concrete in carrying out the old coil, Moe tried various cleansers and worked hard to clean up the spill and was quick to point out the issue to me.. I appreciated his honesty and professionalism. I would definitely use Yellow Dot again.

We use them twice a year. They do the air conditioning in the summer and do the heat in the fall. We needed a repair on our air conditioning unit and they came and repaired it within an hour and a half. The cost was about 350 dollars for the parts and everything.

Last Tuesday (Nov 24th) I was out of the country and my wife woke up to a cold downstairs. Since Yellow Dot was the original installer of the two Trane units, she called the YD office and David came out later that day and sold her $800+ of repairs and PM contracts. He said the work was not finished and needed another part and the office would call her the next day. That did not happen but the furnace was putting out heat. This morning (Friday) the furnace was doing the same thing as before, fan running and no heat. I called their office twice for a total of an hour and I got their on-hold music and repeating message about how wonderful they are and to hang on for someone to help me and then the line dropped on the second call. I called back a third time not selecting from the menu to see what would happen and I was then given the opportunity to leave a message. I did so at about 10AM today. No call back so I presume they were closed. Finally around 4PM I found the name of the service manager and emailed him. He called within a half-hour and said the answering service should have gotten them the message so something was wrong with their systems. The tech called right after that and noted he had gotten no "on-call" messages from the service and thought that maybe all was well. We arranged to have him come out in the AM as this was not a serious situation with the temps being pretty mild. So far this is not good and now I am suspect of Trane as well. This same board went bad when it was 3 months old 6.5 years ago. I will update with the conclusion. UPDATE: Friday, November 27th, Steve came out and tried to "fit" a board into the downstairs furnace with no success. UPDATE: Monday November 30th, David came out and installed new circuit board in the downstairs unit and it now works. Conclusion: Seems like much of this 6 day drama could have been prevented if their answering service had not failed them. End of the day, in a service business, if you out-source your customer contact point you might suffer no matter your good intentions. Matt, Steve and David are VERY customer oriented and capable and for their attitude and focus I have upgraded the overall grade since once they were aware of the issue, they reacted quickly. I hope they get their service provider problems squared away.
Description of Work: Task was to figure out why the downstairs unit was running but not putting out heat. They also sold us PM contracts for our two furnaces and replaced the board on the upstairs unit (it is a different Trane model than the downstairs unit). Yellow Dot was the original installer of both units 7 years ago.

My wife and I have been using Yellow Dot to service are heating and air conditioning needs for the past four or five years. Two weeks ago, we noticed our entrance flooring was wet and immediately suspected the water came from condensation in our old air conditioner (suspected drain line clogged). We'd been advised by the technician who came to do the spring preventative maintenance on our air conditioning unit that it would not last long. Sure enough it was time to replace it and the Apollo Hydro Heat system in our 28 year old home. After the sales representative came out for an inspection we were promised installation would be done in a week's time. The promise was kept and installation was done by a crew of two with frequent checks by their supervisor. The installation crew worked hard and were very courteous. Installation does include required plumbing, electrical and drywall/carpentry services as well a needed opening in our roof to install a vent for the gas heater since it is now in our attic (along with a new Trane air conditioner). New insulation also was installed. During the installation process it was necessary to enlarge the attic access and install filter compartments in our home's ceiling. As mentioned above we have been Yellow Dot customers and have been very pleased with their service reps and the company.

The initial install went well. Since the install we've had to call the provider out to our home twice. 1st time we call the provider to let them know that we had an energy assessment done, provider was very upset that in the report there were several items that needed to be addressed. I informed the provider that I gave the energy assessment details to him not to contact the energy auditor but as a guide to assist Yellow Dot to make the corrective measures on the items listed. The day of to perform the corrective measures......things didn't go so well. The worker showed up at our house, then was called to another job. When I called my contact at Yellow Dot, I was told that he was working too slow, and that they would have someone else come out the following morning to finish the work. OK........ The following day the next worker showed up, and i greeted him to let him know that my hisband was there to go to the house when he was ready. He stated that he was trying to figure out what needed to be done since he was provided no direction by Yellow Dot, but he has the energy audit in his hand. I called my contact to let him know, and my contact stated that he was at the vet with his dog, and that he would be to the house after he was done at the Vet. OK......... When my contact showed up, he and his worked left. Just left, didn't tell my husband why they were leaving without completely the work. I called my contact, no answer, called the office, and they said that I would need to wait till he responded since he was out of the office for the rest of the day. I asked to speak to the GM. Relayed what had been going on the the GM, and let the GM know that we were not happy, and that they needed to complete the work today, since this is the 2nd day and if that wasn't convienent for anyone that we would be home all weekend, to let me know what time they would be by. I received a call about 30 minutes later letting me know that someone would be by the house to complete the work that day. 2nd time: Having insullation installed in our attic, crawl spaces, and eves. Insulation provider noticed that there were some leaks in the transfer unit to the HVAC and duct work to the transfer unit is pulling away, creating gaps, letting cool/heat escape into the attic. Called Yellow Dot to schedule an appointment, giving them 1 week to get us on the schedule, and secured an appointment for 7/13 @8:30am. Received a call on 7/10 requesting that they move my appointment to 7/14 after 3:30pm, since they had customers with more pressing AC issues. Explained to them that I had my insulation provider scheduled to come Wednesday at 7am to finish work that had already started, and we were waiting on Yellow Dot to complete the work. Reluctently reschedule to 7/14 after 3:30pm. TBC...... 7/15/15: So Yellow Dot didn't show when they were scheduled on 7/14/15 @ 3:30pm. I received a call at 5:05pm 7/14 to let me know that they would need to reschedule since their people were not free to perform the work. I spoke to the manager yesterday evening, and said that i had booked this appoint about 2 weeks out so I wouldn't have these issues with no shows or work not being performed. He agreed, and sent someone this morning to finish the work at 7am. With a small child and company over, not really what i wanted but worked need to be complete so I can have the other vendor for insulation compete his job. Overall: Yellow Dot, being rated A for workmanship and customer service needs to be down-graded to a D-C level. I didn't feel that we were important to the company even though we had spent 20k on work in November 2014.

Yellow Dot Heating and Air Conditioning has provided more than a half a dozen service calls in six weeks on a Trane heat pump they installed as subcontractor for Lowe's Companies. System is still under warranty. On 29 May 2015 Yellow Dot installed a new TXV Valve under the warranty, but charged owner for labor ($743.91) or approximately $300 per hour for the 2.5 hours spent on the repair. Technician told owner he was told to charge owner $743.91 and recommended owner call service manager, Keith Green if owner had any questions. Service manager, Keith Green did not answer his phone and failed to return calls of inquiry regarding the labor fee charged. On 31 May, heat pump system failed again (seventh time in less than 6 weeks). During attempted repairs it was revealed that multiple improper installation procedures were followed (no water catchment pan safety switch installed, drain pipe installed backwards, broken parts, etc.). Yellow Dot has yet to determine proper diagnosis of system failures and is attempting to charge owner for diagnosis of problems they failed to properly install or fix when the system failed. Updated 6/25/15: It has been three weeks now without an air conditioner breakdown. The most since Yellow Dot installed a safety cutoff switch in September 2014 to prevent the air conditioner from continuing to run if water in the catchment pan rose to overflowing. As I promised Yellow Dot I am updating this review to reflect their fixing the problem. Thank you to Trane technicians and Lowe's (prime contractor whole sold me the Trane unit). Lowe's and Trane were able to discuss the problem with Yellow Dot to discover several errors in their installation parts and procedures. After discussing the problem with Trane and Lowe's, Yellow Dot promptly returned to the scene of the problem and replaced several parts as they were instructed by the Trane technicians. The system has worked flawlessly ever since. The system is still under warranty, so there was no charge. Bottom line: I have raised my evaluation of Yellow Dot from "F" overall to "C". I will do business again with both Trane and Lowe's. Unless forced to I will not call Yellow Dot again.
Description of Work: Yellow Dot Heating and Air Conditioning installed a heat pump system as Lowes Companies Subcontractor for a Trane heat pump system in August 2012. The system is still under warranty. System worked well until September 2014 when an uninstalled safety cutout switch required by the manufacturer caused the drain pan to overflow ruining the bed under the interior air handler mounted above the ceiling. Yellow Dot replaced the bed at no charge and installed the safety switch as required in the initial installation. Heat pump worked fine during the winter months with no air conditioning requirement. When air conditioning portion of the system was turned on in late April, the system was deactivated about a half dozen times during the next two months. Numerous Yellow Dot technicians were nice, but could not determine the cause of the problem. On 29 May technician replaced the TXV valve and repaired a part a previous technician had broken while trying to fix the system and repair a drain pipe that was installed incorrectly during initial installation. The Yellow Dot Technician who replaced the TXV Valve told the owner that the valve was under warranty, but owner must pay labor. Owner was presented with a labor a bill for $743.91 (or approximately $300 per hour for the 2.5 hours) the technician spent on the job. The 2.5 hours also included replacement of the incorrectly installed drain from the main drain pan. Yellow Dot Maintenance and Repair supervisor, Keith Green, did not return calls requesting explication of the charges. Lowe's Builder Mart who sold the system to owner and assigned Yellow Dot as the installer subcontractor denied any knowledge or responsibility for the malfunctioning system. Trane customer support was very helpful and agreed to file an installer grievance. On 31 May 2015, the system failed once again, after two days. Owner is left with a $743.91 invoice for repairs that have not been executed by installation subcontractor Yellow Dot (or should have been charged as multiple installation errors) and a prime contractor (Lowe's Companies, Inc.) who denies any responsibility of poor performance of their subcontractor installer.

I scheduled an appointment with Yellow Dot well in advance of the date of service, even though it ultimately meant not having adequate heat (maximum obtainable temperature as low as 54 degrees) for some of the coldest days we've had this winter. The service was scheduled at the end of what turned out to be one of the significant winter storms we had this season. Yellow Dot called in advance of the appointment asking if we could reschedule, but stating that if I could not do so, I could still expect them for my 8:00 a.m. service appointment. No one every showed up. No one ever called. I attempted to reach them later that morning, but after being on hold for an extended time, I was disconnected. I attempted to call again later in the day, but before the close of business. I was again on hold for some time, then was deposited into "Suzanne's" voicemail. I left a message expressing my displeasure at the lack of service, particularly since it was already paid for, and stated I expected a refund for the remainder of the service contract, as I would not be using them again (not my first bad experience with them). I've had no contact of any kind from the company, and have certainly not been given a refund. I would not under any circumstances consider using them again. I contacted another company who came promptly and has already started the necessary repairs.
Description of Work: Yellow Dot was supposed to perform routine maintenance on my heater through a service contract that had already been paid for, as well as repair the heater, as the auxiliary heat was not coming on.

I have looked through our records and seen that you did schedule a heat check that was suppose to be rescheduled due to the cold and icy weather that was coming in. I did not see any call that was for a non heating issue and wanted you to know that if we had correctly booked a non heating call we would make all attempts to go out and repair. We do strive to meet our customers expectations and I can only say that by the single digit weather we had that we failed to listen to our customer(heating problem) and failed to communicate(leaving a message with no follow up). There are no excuses for us not to communicate with our customers or follow up when a problem arises. Yellow Dot installed our furnaces new about 3 years ago. Though they were not our current provider for annual maintenance, I called to find out if they would honor the warranty. They did. They came out as soon as possible, quickly diagnosed a defective unit, ordered parts and installed them first thing the next morning. This was all during inclement weather that closed schools and businesses. They also checked into the warranty with the furnace manufacturer and confirmed that parts and labor were covered. Great customer service, and no cost to us! Was very impressed with speed of response, level of customer care, and professionalism of all involved.
Description of Work: Responded to call for service on one of our furnace units that suddenly had a burning smell and stopped operating properly.

We were pleased with the service from this company. The installers (Steve and Donald) were professional, entertaining, and wanted to make sure we were pleased with the service. They went the extra mile to install some intake vents and showed us a few tricks for the system. After the installation, a few rooms were too hot and Yellow Dot returned to reset the system and ensure our comfort.

I did research on 60 companies before I narrowed my search to 15 different company's & started making calls at that point. Once I made all my calls 3 more were dropped from the list for sending me to voicemail or not even having someone available to take my call.. So I met with 10 of the 12 companies left on my list. At this point I knew which main HEAT/AC unit I was going to need to best serve my purposes and felt that I had enough data to make a good informed decision.. I went through all the quotes & 2 companies really stood out.. Both companies seemed to be really good & had good service, reviews etc Angie ratings, BBB ratings & their pricing was more than competitive. So I started to inquire when they could do the work since my mother in law was coming & it was going to be below freezing & main heating unit was not safe to use. I had to make sure we had good heat for her visit. Yellow Dot was the only company that could get the equipment without having to wait a week to get it done( which would have been too late).. I worked with Joe directly to get everything done & one of the BEST experiences I have ever had with any company & they are GREAT example for all companies.. They should bottle what they do & sell it.. I cant say enough good things about their work, pricing & most important their customer service.. We have a contract with them for heating and ac check for 2 systems. We have a separate system upstairs and downstairs. They have been fantastic both at the corporate level, and the individuals who have come to work on our system.

It was a pretty reasonable price. They found a short in one of the wires. Twice a year, they come out to service our heating and air conditioning. They do a really great service.
