Yellow Dot Heating & Air Conditioning

All work was done in a professional manner.

Luis of Yellow Dot was professional in all asprects. He inspected the upstairs and downstairs units. He went into the attic where the heating cooling unit resides. He explained that the upstairs unit was incorrectly wired and needed to fixed. I forget his quote (which is on the bill he gave me) but I could not handle that cost at the time. What surprised me was that in his upstairs and downstairs work he never mentioned anything about the "accenuator" being a problem and it wasn't unit he presented me the bill that I found the $45 charge. Sorry, but fixing something without telling me about it first does not sit well with me. So, I feel I was kind of taken. I would have been thrilled if the $45 charge was part of the $90 service charge and I would have thought vetry differently of Yellow Dot services.

Since switching to another HVAC provider I have had a neighbor express concerns about the quality of Yellow Dot repairs and that family has also changed providers

I used a $99 Angie's List Big Deal for this project but there were additional charges on this service. They actually recommended that I get a new air conditioner unit because it would not come on. I ended up fixing it myself; it was just a bad relay. They charged me extra because I needed more Freon than they provided for the Big Deal price; it was about another $60 or $70.

I called because my heating was not working. I spoke with a nice gentleman, who asked me several probing questions. Afterwards, he advised me that I should contact the gas company because he did not believe they assisted me properly. He told me that he would come for a fee but that my best bet was to call the gas company. I took his advice and it was successul. Although I did not use them, I appreciated his honesty, and I would consider using them in the future.

I bought the Big Deal and called them up. We were able to schedule an appointment in a couple of days. They came on time and completed the work on a hot summer day. I gave them the printed Big Deal certificate and that was it.

We hired Yellow Dot based on reviews and after getting quotes from several other providers. The price was a little more, but we wanted to hire a company with solid reviews and a good warranty program. The salesman was very knowledgeable and helped us select the best equipment for our size house and budget, and was great about answering all of our questions. The crew was punctual and did an excellent job of installation, as far as we can tell with our limited expertise. The job did take longer than expected, though, but that probably happens a lot given the complexity. The system has been working great. We had a few snags in the beginning with the AC, but they sent someone out right away both times to make adjustments, and once to check out the furnace system to our satisfaction once the cooler weather hit.

mpressor bThe AC was acting up, starting sometimes, sometimes not. I didn't want to go into summer in NC without working AC!!! I called Yellow Dot after looking at reviews on Angies list and true to form, they came out the same day. The technician opened up the unit and quickly discovered the issue - a burned switch control module. He took it out and it was immediately obvious it was a problem as it was scorched and most of the contacts were burned away. He replaced it and cleaned the unit, then cleaned the other unit while he was out. the whole process took less than 1 hour. I couldn't be happier with the service.

Yellow Dot Heating and Air Coditioning located in Raleigh, NC is an excellent company to do business with. My appointment was set up in a timely manner, the technician arrived on schedule , the work that I had asked for was done, and the technician took time to answer some questions/comments I had about my particular unit.

Yellow Dot called very soon after I did the Big Deal to set up the appointment. The service guy was on time, polite, and I could tell he did a pretty good job of cleaning up the AC unit. The condensation drain had been clogged for a while and when he was done the line was totally unclogged and doing what it was supposed to do ... drain away all that water. I'd probably use them again for the same service and if they gave the same good impression I'd use them for more serious maintenance if I eve need it.

I signed up for the extended service agreement (Yellow Dot comes out twice yearly, once to ck your a/c and once to ck your heating system). Someone from Yellow Dot called when the repairman was approximately 30-45 minutes away (which was really nice!) and he arrived exactly 35 minutes after she called. The repairman was incredibly polite and attentive--he explained what he was going to do and asked if there had been any issues he needed to know about. For a couple of years, I had noticed that when my heat was 'on' cold air would blow up through the vents---the heat would run for x number of minutes, then there would be cold air for x number of minutes...Turns out two of my condensers were hobbling along on their last legs The repairman found the problem and was able to explain what he found in terms I understood and was very honest in telling me that while I didn't have to replace these two things now, eventually I would and in the meantime, it would cause my heating system to have to work harder and harder. I replaced both condensers and feel like the repairman was thorough, knowledgeable and left my house having put my heating system back into tip top shape.

They did fine and I used an Angie's List coupon. They were prompt, courteous and did a good job. The person who came out was very knowledgeable and was helpful in answering my questions. Their price was a little bit high on the materials they put into my system.

I asked him since he was already here if he could clean the AC and do a tune. He said no, which was frustrating and I would have to call back. This would force to have another service call (with additional fee).

He was nice, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions.

Very professional on the quoting process and the installation. Make sure they know your life style to see how hard you will run the system. They should be able to reccomendate the right mix of cost and effienc. Aso, check on all the service or warranty that come with the quote. They have some items that are great in principle but I don't really need it or want it. Just make sure what you want and need when discussing with the Yellow Dot team. They will try to work with you. I have referred them to a few neighhors and some have taken their service too.

I contacted Yellow Dot on behalf of my parents after they received a $4,600 estimate from another A/C contractor for a complete system replacement. Yellow Dot showed up 2 days later when scheduled and gave an honest assessment of repairs that were needed. Technicians was so helpful and polite, that my mother hand wrote a letter to the company president detailing how pleased she was with the courtesy and professionalism of the technician. Technician provided an in-depth, honest assessment of the work that was needed and which parts needed replacement. Work was completed that day for an approximate cost of $700.

Well, it didn't get off to a great start as the service tech was about 30 minutes late. The lady at Yellow Dot did call me to let me know that Joe was running late. Joe called me a few minutes later and apologized profusely and said his gps sent him in the wrong direction...this is most likely true...I gave him verbal directions. I was very satisfied with the service after Joe got here. I will use Yellow Dot again and will request Joe!

Yellow Dot had a competitive price for the checkup. The technician was friendly and informative and arrived on time. He was willing to show me the work he was doing and why he had to do it. My only concern was the upsale...I had yellow dot to do inspections for two properties over the course of a year and each time they come out they are trying to sell me more service. Other than that, they were great.

The estimator was punctual. He seemed very professional and responsive and on the initial visit took the time to answer all my questions. However, when I called back to make some changes to the estimate of what I wanted and to ask additional questions, I was told that I had gotten too many estimates, that I knew too much of the technical information, and that "I just needed to trust the installer" because they knew all there was to know. When contractors get offended at people who ask questions, that is a HUGE warning sign to me not to use such a contractor. I have been burned more times than I can count by just "trusting" a contractor. I have a Master's Degree level education and know how to do research. I research all my major purchases thoroughly. For a person to tell me that I know too much means they are threatened by someone else having knowledge. That usually means they are afraid that they cannot get away with jack legging the job. This is about MY NEEDS, not the choice of the contractor. No contractor should get offended at a person who requests changes or asks questions. People like this will never get my business. I will go with another contractor who is not threatened by an educated customer.

Opted for recharge of leaky system to get it through one more summer until replace unit. Technician extensively discuss care and requirements and weakness of my system and future recommendations. Visit was greater than 1.5 hour.

The technician was very professional. They came when they were suppose to. The coupon wasn't that great of a deal, since I did not need refrigeration. Purchasing a service contract with them would have been cheaper. Overall, I thought the service was done well. Unfortunately, my A/C broke down in July due to the drain pipe being clogged with junk. It would seem to me that if the cleaning had been done well, this should not occurred 3 months after the cleaning since I have had no problems with my system in the last 3 years, I would of expected the cleaning to have taken care of that. Since it is really hot in NC, I called everyone I could to see if I could get an appointment for next day service on the A/C to get it back up and running. Yellow Dot was not able to get someone next day, but could get someone out the day after next. I was luck and found another company that could come the next day and diagnosed and solved the problem. I called Yellow Dot back, and they agreed (although it is impossible to confirm) that if the cleaning had been done properly I should not have experienced the problem. Since they did not do the repair, they were unable to not charge me for it. As a remedy, they offered me (free of charge) a 1 year maintenance agreement for my heating and cooling systems. So, I will get a check-up for the winter and next summer included. I thought this was a fair remedy and I'm willing to give them another chance. The technician who worked on my system is no longer with the company (not as a result of this issue, just happened to be the case when I called back). I will allow Yellow Dot to meet the obligations of the service contract they have provided me and I will make a determination next year weather to continue. Overall, both from a scheduling, service, and follow-up compliant, I believe Yellow Dot treated me fairly, was extremely professional, and did their best to make things right. So, for those reasons, I am confident that they will perform in the future and I'm willing to give them that chance.

We will definitely be using Yellow Dot in the future.

The service was adequate. They were polite and came out when they said they would.

The technician arrived within the 4 hour time period cited and began cleaning the first of 2 AC systems in my house. He did a fine job unclearing a clogged line in the upstairs unit then stated it probably needed 2-3 lbs of refrigerant. Since the coupon only covered 1 lb, he stated the additional 2 lbs would cost about $140. I told him I'd think about it while he began working on the lower unit. He claimed that the lower unit needed 5-6 lbs refrigerant (about $240). When I requested that he take no action with the lower unit but to put the 1 lb refrigerant in the upper unit, he claimed that the upper unit was fine and didn't need refrigerant (after initially stating it needed 2-3 lbs worth). Given that, I asked that he put the 1 lb refrigerant in the lower system. He said it wouldn't help because it needed at least 5 lbs. This led me to believe that the company would only honor the 1 lb refrigerant offer which I had prepaid for only if I agreed to pay to have more than 1 lb pumped in (whether the system needed it or not). This slick salesman-like technique was not appreciated and led to my downgrading my interaction with this company; a shame since he appeared to do a good job otherwise cleaning the systems.

I think it went great. The guy was very nice and my AC is now working great.
