Description of Work: My home just turned five years old, and several of the homes around me have had their A/C systems fail and require replacement, at a cost of thousands to the homeowner. This got me wondering if I had a ticking money bomb next to my house! I decided to have my a/c units serviced to get an idea of their condition. I called gold dot based largely on Angie's list reviews, and I've seen the truck out on my street a few times as well. A neighbor gave them a thumbs up too. I found them to be prompt, thorough, and very professional. The technician was at my house for about 2hrs. He very thoroughly cleaned & inspected each unit outside, as well as coming inside to inspect the air handler on the third floor. He advised me that the capacitors I had were working within acceptable limits, but warned me that they would likely require replacement within a year or two. He said that they would reevaluate on their next visit. I had originally contacted them on the Angie's list $99 special, which was per unit (suprise!) but made sense to me given it was twice the work for them. The technician wound up selling me a $249 annual contract, which would include them coming back out next season. This seemed like a great value, so I went for it and look forward to having them back out to service my a/c next season. If you do have gold dot come out, ask about the annual contract when making the appointment. I thought this represented the best value, as it gets you 2 visits. I believe there was some sort of discount if you wind up calling them for an emergency call as well.

Description of Work: We had Red Dot scheduled to come and inspect/clean our two airconditioning systems. As luck would have it, one of them quit working before that date. I called and they had someone come that day which really impressed me. The guy was polite, businesslike and got things running again in short order. None of this "well I have to order the parts" stuff which I've experienced in the past. I really don't know if they are unusually expensive. I'm guessing they are fair and this kind of repair is never cheap! I will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: The $234.00 is the cost for our annual service contract each year.Yellow Dot services our heating and air twice a year; once in spring and once in fall. We have been with them for a few years and are very pleased in every way with both the regular service and extra repair work that has be done as needed. Today they came out to repair the ac unit which had slid off level and was drainig incorrectly. The unit is located in a crawl space under our house and is not easy to access. They showed up on time and did a thorough job in a timely manner. The best part was they did not charge me because we are such regular good customers. The regular price would have been $216.75How often do you experience that these days? Not much.

Description of Work: Our upstairs AC unit died so we had Yellow Dot come to provide an estimate. Tom, the sales tech who came to assess our needs, was a true professional. He spent almost an hour assessing the dimensions and other house characteristics, and then spent another hour doing the detailed load plan for the area. I ended up going with the same people who installed and have been servicing our downstairs unit based on price and incumbency, but I would have had no reservations going with Yellow Dot if things had not been as favorable with my prior company. I did a lot of research not only about the equipment, but also about what makes a good HVAC company - Tom clicked all the items that were recommended to ensure you get a quality company.

Description of Work: Yellow Dot installed my new AC May/2010. This summer I started getting a leak in my bathroom ceiling. It was determined to be coming from the AC unit in my attic. They spent 2 hours figuring out the problem and devising a solution. They then came back and fixed it AND hired someone to repair my bathroom ceiling.
