This was a very bad experience. The impression was given when talking to the manager for the initial hire that the "guys" that were sent out would be able to handle this task, and given the cost of hiring, we assumed that it would be done in a careful, competent manner. The two guys who came out were great guys with wonderful manners and positive attitudes. However, we were not aware that they would have to be supervised. Several different times we had to ask them to rearrange some things already on the truck as they were just loading without thinking about possible shifting of the load. They were gracious and did as we asked, but we did not stay on top of supervising as we had other packing to do and we assumed that they could handle it as they were trained to do so. When we arrived at our destination, the boxes that were prepacked by us came thru just fine. However, several pieces of furniture came thru with dents, scratches, and rubbing of woods together marring the finish. It was obvious that there were large holes in the load where there had been no thought to stacking and padding. There was even a metal filing cabinet that had the paint rubbed off in a couple of places where it had obviously been rubbing against something else metal. We paid for the services at that time trusting and having faith that our things were well taken care of, but upon arrival we were sad to see that several favorite pieces would never be the same. We were contacted by the manager after the fact, and stated our problems. He assured us the men go thru lots of training and know how to pack, but since we had damaged things we would be contacted by someone else in the organization for filing a claim. To date we have not received any follow up and it's been two weeks. I will never use this company again and I will never recommend them to anyone I know.
Description of Work: Hired to help us load our moving truck for a long-distance move. We had boxes, several pieces of heavy furniture, and fragile pieces. They were hired to load these things on our truck in what we assumed would be a competent, and knowledgeable manner taking into account that the contents would travel over 1200 miles.

I had booked a job for June 18th and sent them numerous emails in response to their confirmation email that I needed to reschedule for June 22nd. NO RESPONSE. They needless to say called to confirm the June 18th date. Hello??? Don't send me an email if you dont' want me to contact you that way. So I called today June 14th to request the change and was bascially told that's NOT going to happen. They didn't suggest a different time or anything. If you want friendly attentive customer service, try somewhere else!

Everything went very well. The team showed up on time and the rate we were quoted is what we were charged. They actually even finished a little bit under the time estimate they gave us. We felt they were very careful with our furniture and walls of both the old and new houses. I would recommend them to friends.

The office staff (including scheduler, confirmation call, follow up call, and manager) were outstanding in their service and attitude. My complaint was with the particular movers' performance and attitude. The driver of the truck, Drew, was not friendly, pleasant, or helpful and I felt he did not do what he could to move things along quickly. This resulted in the time overage (5.5 hours rather than the 2 hours estimated.) He also didn't honor our request to cover the floors, which was on the work order, even though it was a rainy day; when I pointed out the wet stains on the carpet in the house, he said it was already there and he didn't do it. He complained repeatedly about the fact that I was moving to a third-floor apartment and said that added double the time to the estimate, even though I already informed them of this when I ordered the service. The redeeming points were that I received a phone call two days later to follow up on the quality of the service, and they actually listened to my concerns. The manager later helped resolve this by taking off 1.5 hours of moving time from the billing, which was a decent compromise, although this still put me at double the original estimated time, a significant point since they charge by the hour.

This company is terrible. The movers showed up >1 hour late, didn't bring the equipment I asked for, and damaged the property. The actual movers and the person who answers the phone are nice, but their performance is terrible. One month later, the damage hasn't been fixed (despite repeated promises, phone calls to the "national" office, etc.).

TWO MEN & A TRUCK are very costumer friendly, got phone calls asking if I need anything else besides what I already told them 2 days before my moving day. I was impressed how fast my move went. Reggie and Eric are amazing, right on time, very friendly and very fast. They made my day when I was done before luch! I will hire TWO MEN & A TRUCK again, do doubt about it (I don't like moving, so hopefully not so soon)!

The guys on the truck were excellent workers.Top professionals. They worked quickly, and for the most part carefully and I would hire them again. The office-another story. I had to call several times to initiate contact, the estimate was not an eyeball one which I will now insist on in future moves. I was assured a quote and even told it was high, to have the end cost much higher with a "discount." The office had "smooth talkers, " the truck had the pros. There was communication from/with the office several times during the move.
Description of Work: From an apt and a storage unit to a house. A lot of stuff- which I repeatedly said. An over the phone estimate; I was surprised at that, and then quoted a price that was told was a higher quote than it would probably end up. The over the phone estimate said we could probably get all on the truck in one trip. Not the case- which the movers saw immediately on their arrival. I was told paperwork would be sent to me ahead of time. It never arrived and when I wanted to read and understand it before signing (because it looked like I was told one thing over the phone and the paperwork said something else), was reminded that the guys on the truck were being paid by the hour.

Movers showed up about 2 hours late because previous job ran long. When movers arrived, they quickly packed up furniture and boxes, drove to new home less than 1 mile away, and moved property into new home. This included taking down beds and washer/dryer, and reassembling. I paid a 2 man rate, even though I got a 3 man crew. The best part: they were in my life for less than an hour and a half!

The moving part went fairly well; one chest of drawers had some small paint transfer dings, and there was a gouge in the drywall in the dining room of the old house (probably those two were related). The problem came when the crew leader decided to disconnect the water hookup for our refrigerator (in the old house) himself, rather than asking me to do it. He didn't have the correct tools, and in the process broke the water supply pipe (upstream from the valve and fitting), flooding the kitchen. (We found out later that Two Men and a Truck's (TMAT) policy was to never disconnect appliance water connections--I wish that the crew leader had followed that policy.) Our home insurance company's claims assessor determined that the vinyl flooring in the kitchen was a total loss; we also needed emergency repairs to dry out the subflooring and to fix the water pipe and the drywall around the water pipe break. We immediately filed a claim with TMAT for the amount of the repair costs that weren't covered by our insurance ($300 for the plumbing repairs); our insurance company placed a claim for all other repair costs. After not hearing back from TMAT for several weeks, my wife made several follow-up calls and was assured that our claim was being "looked at." After about 5-6 weeks of no response from TMAT, my wife went to their office to find out what was going on, only to find that our claim was still in office manager's in-box (she saw the office manager find it there). Our last contact with TMAT was 5 months after the move, at which time my wife was told that they didn't feel that they were responsible for the damage. Five months after that, our home insurance company settled with TMAT for the full amount of their claim based on the photos and plumber's statement that we had supplied--the same information that we had supplied to TMAT with our claim. (At least that settlement allowed us to recover our insurance deductible.) While that would seem to establish that TMAT finally accepted responsibility for the damage, they still never paid our $300 claim for the uninsured portion of the damages. We had verification of liability insurance from TMAT prior to signing a contract with them, so we know that they had insurance coverage. That they would risk losing us as a customer forever over $300 (when they had already paid our insurance company several thousand dollars) would seem to defy all good business sense.

The packers were very professional. However, problems occurred with the office staff. The secretary gave incorrect driving instructions and the packers arrived a hour late. They had to quit an hour early because they were not provided as much paper as they requested. On loading day they first had to finish packing. They were tired and missed 5 boxes of kitchen goods which we packed. During the interview two weeks earlier we told the representative, Steven, that we had moved 21.000 lbs. from our previous house and a full-length trailer plus small truck were needed to accommodate all goods. We also told him it took a day to pack, a day to load and a day to unload. Stephen estimated that we would need 4 hours to pack and 4 hours to load/unload. We got a "Not to Exceed" quote of $3,700. In reality the move cost $4,900. Luckily due to the NTE quote, we saved $1,200. I suspect that with more experience, Stephen will not underestimate in the future.

We have used their services previously. Everything went well except when it came to the price. The cost turned out to be more than the estimate. He said that my wife did not tell him everything that needed to be moved. He said it would be $750 and it turned out to be $850. After discussing with my wife he realized that she did tell him and he cut the difference in half.
