TL:DR I would suggest using Athens Moving when moving in the RDU area who had I a perfect experience with and should have stuck to. Two Men will break your things and only pay for the weight even when its negligence, not accident, that breaks things. I have used multiple moving companies across multiple states and this was honestly the worst I've dealt with from a management perspective. The movers themselves were friendly. However, their was an issue with my child's crib. They took the furniture 80% apart and left two pieces connected while moving it rather than taking the extra time to do it properly. I thought nothing of it and let them do their job as professionals. As soon as we unload at my new property, low and behold the crib is now broken. This was due to clear negligence from the movers. Despite their great attitudes, cutting corners that results in damage to my property is not acceptable. Incidentals are expected (they broke the leg of my dresser too which I repaired myself and did not claim). Additionally, I ended up having to put half of my furniture together because they just did not seem to be able to figure it out. Overall, the movers were friendly and professional, just not as careful as they should have been nor very experienced in taking apart/putting the furniture back together. Dealing with management was completely unproductive. Despite me clearly articulating why it was negligence, not accident, that broke the furniture. It would have been insulting to offer me $18 dollars for breaking a $200 dollar crib so they offered $50.

I recently moved from Raleigh, NC to Apex. Before booking the move months ago I spent time online and on the phone inventorying my entire home with the estimator. After explaining what I had the guy on the phone said it sounded like I would need two men and a truck. As experts I didn’t question them. Unfortunately when the two men arrived around 9:10, Cody and Phillip, they were extremely confused, told us they were only told about 30 boxes, and had another job to get to after us even though we had them for 5-7 hours. They took over 5 hours to pack up our house and took at least one 30 minute break talking to their female manager. They said this would not be charged to us. Once they got to the house I tried to help them unload and Cody yelled at me saying it was a liability for me to be on the ramp or truck, which I understood and asked if he could unload and I could help run stuff up to save on time. He rudely said it was their job but he couldn’t tell me not to touch my own stuff. I then replied by saying we only had two hours left and didn’t want to be charged. Cody rudely said it would be the same hourly rate and said it didn’t matter. I asked if he would just put the beds inside and we could put them back together to save time or put the boxes on the main floor alone. He said no that they would complete everything and the beds were barely even taken apart. Phillip was nice but moved slow due to a limp (he obviously couldn’t help it) and Cody was so lazy and slow taking one box at a time. His male manger ended up coming with two young men to get what they couldn’t from our old house and got it in so fast. They were wonderful and so polite. Once they left the Phillip and Cody told another smoke break around 10-15 mins. As they were taking boxes up Cody asked where they went and I told him the third floor, he rudely said “are you kidding me?” He proceeded to do this each time he had to go to the third floor and I felt so uncomfortable. As he was taking a box spring up he saw a young child in the neighborhood and screamed “Go to college kid”. Shortly after (~45 minutes) we didn’t see Phillip and assumed he was putting the bed together even though we asked them not to, as it was hot and we figured he wanted to be in the AC. Then they switched off and Cody was gone for ~45 minutes. We were so confused and annoyed at this point as to why only one person was moving box by box. After another 4 hours they were finally done around 6. Upon filling out the paperwork, Cody said “this is gonna hurt” and charged us $1575, around $400 more than we were quoted. I asked if this included breaks and he said he didn’t take any but took off 15 minutes, a blatant lie. I told them that they took a 30 min lunch and then a smoke break and Cody denied it. By then I was so exhausted and tired that I just wanted them to leave so I said whatever and signed. Because it was so hot and Phillip was nice I still ended up tipping but half of what I initially intended to give each. When we went upstairs to lay down, our beds weren’t put together and the boxes were in the middle of the rooms so you couldn’t even walk or put the mattress down. We ended up having to unpack each room in order to sleep. What were they doing during the time they disappeared?!? After calling the store three days in a row to no avail / returned calls, I have no choice but to turn to corporate to try and get a little bit of my money back that should have never been charged in the first place. Cody was the slowest, laziest mover who didn’t care about our things. God forbid if they broke something we wouldn’t be able to get ahold to file a claim. If you are moving I would suggest going with another company, as it would probably save you money and headache.

Horrendous. Look elsewhere if interested in competent packers/movers and customer service. Having been professionally moved at least four times prior, was utterly disappointed by this local TMAAT franchise. It’s comical that they list themselves as “Simply the Best Movers LLC”. We hired them to both pack and move our house, including holding our belongings for two nights. It’s a vulnerable experience, as you’re in the midst of buying and selling homes, which are already stressful life events. This TMAAT shop only made it worse. Starting with incomplete and inept packing on a Tuesday, the moving team showed up a day later to load the trucks. The moving crew were frustrated that the packing team hadn’t fully packed the house and in turn the movers had to rush in order to try to both make up for the incomplete packing and still get the trucks loaded on time. We watched in horror as the movers jammed items together in boxes without any protective wrapping and/or loaded loose items on to the trucks. Getting frustrated that they were running behind and running out of space on the trucks, one of the drivers tried to ask me why I couldn’t load a 50’ TV, rugs and boxes into my own car. The primary reason, of course, being that I hired them to do that. In the process of moving a sofa from an upstairs bonus room, the movers got the sofa stuck in a hallway. After already having poked holes in the walls and marking up the sofa and the drywall, the movers told me it was impossible to get the sofa down the staircase (though it had been moved up the stairs without trouble!) and called their boss to ask what to do. Without him knowing that I could hear him on speakerphone, he instructed them to tell me that I would need to sign a liability waiver if I wanted them to continue to try to move the sofa downstairs. Instead, the crew of four realized they could turn the furniture a different way and get it down with ease. The need to repair the damaged walls caused a delay to our closing. Coincidentally, one of the franchise owner’s operations leads was in town at the time and just happened to take my call when I phoned the office to speak to a manager. He seemed reasonable, attentive and showed up on site when the crews came to supervise the unload at the new house. Along with one of the branch managers, they witnessed as boxes jammed full of unwrapped frames and mirrors, many broken and damaged, as well as marred furniture came in to the house. The operations lead committed to “make it right” and to ensuring a seamless claims process. We were optimistic. Ultimately, he made promises he didn’t deliver.

Nightmare experience. This should have been easy: load up at 9AM, drive to Virginia, done by 1PM. The crew asked if they could load the evening before so "they could get an earlier start" (first lie). We said okay. This was a big mistake, because we later learned they tried to fit another move in before our delivery. That move took them 6 hours away from our destination. When we called at 11, we were told they would be there by 2 (second lie). After calling the office around 4, I got a definite arrival time of 5:26 (third lie). They showed up at 6:30PM. In the meantime I had two 80-year-olds with dementia out of their room for 8 EXTRA hours with no furniture, which was very stressful for us, for the staff at the home, and for them. AND, my sister-in-law missed her flight to see her first granddaughter born. It was a disaster, for which no amount of money could ever make us feel like we would use or recommend this company again.

Outstanding! That is the word I would use to describe my experience with Two Men And A Truck. I contacted 4 moving companies that I found on Angie's List for a long distance move, further researched them all online, and due to Two Men's ability to accommodate my schedule and their professional and thorough demeanor, I hired them for my move. Best decision! They weren't the cheapest but they came through with flying colors on both ends, Move Out and Move In. Communication with office staff before move - Excellent. Communication with moving crew during move - Excellent! The care and precision of the moving crew with my possessions, their polite and respectful attitude all made for a great experience during a very stressful time. And their estimate was spot on. Thank You Two Men!!!

They reserved two trucks and two crews. Only one showed up on time. The other was 30 minutes late. They started with the storage rooms. Instead of using padded blankets, they used a lot of plastic wrap around my furniture. That hold stuff together well, but it doesn't prevent items from being damaged. The legs on our TV stand broke. In addition, some pieces broke off of an old historic desk and an end table. The latter were still usable, but costs a lot to repair. They also messed up our dryer because they didn't know how to properly remove the dryer duct from the wall. As a result, the connection to my dryer (within the dryer itself) was destroyed. I had to get a new dryer. They agreed to pay a fraction of what it takes to repair. I said "agreed" because they have not paid after two and a half months. At this point, I'm just figuring they are not going to pay. ("The check is in the mail.") The workers were hard workers, but they were more interested in hurrying up than getting the job done right. At the storage facility, they would commandeer the elevator and spend 30 minutes filling it up with stuff rather than letting other customers of the storage facility use the elevator. They worked hard, but they did not act professionally toward other people trying to use the elevator, and they did not own up to damaging the dryer. I will look for a different mover whenever I have to move again.

We have moved a number of times over the years and this company provided the least professional move we have ever had. They broke our washing machine because they failed to block the tub. They broke our dryer because they either dropped the dryer, or they dropped something so heavy onto the dryer that there was a three-inch deep dent in the top of the dryer running from front to back. They wrapped the brass pendulum from our grandfather clock in nothing more than a few sheets of paper. Needless to say, we had to buy a new pendulum because the original was bent beyond repair. Even though these damages were the direct result of their negligence, they refused to compensate us for our full loss. As far as other damages are concerned, they broke one of our desks as well as an entertainment center, damaged several pieces of furniture, etc. To add insult to injury, we still have not received compensation for the damages that they caused, and it is now five months past our move date. I have asked to have one of the owners call me, to no avail.

My daughter called Two Men and a Truck less than a week before the end of the month after receiving a high estimate from another company. Two Men and a Truck called and because there was insufficient time for an onsite visit, they asked for detailed information over the phone and gave her a non-binding estimate. They said they could do the work on Saturday afternoon. At about 12:15 on Saturday they called and said they were on their way to the storage unit. Within an hour they had unloaded the 10x10 storage unit, driven to our house and picked up the 10 pieces of furniture. They drove downtown and unloaded everything to a fifth floor apartment. The whole job took less than three hours. These guys were fast, professional, hard-working, friendly, and a pleasure to deal with. For any future move we would call them first.
Description of Work: Moved my daughter's belongings from our house and a storage unit to an apartment. Everything in the storage unit was packed and ready to go. There were about ten furniture items in our house.

I hired Two Men and a Truck to move my home on April 18 2015. Prior to the move their sales guy (Woody Atkinson) came out to my house and evaluated the amount of furniture I had walking my entire house with me evaluating the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor. The 3 floor was a walk up attic with 3/4 inch plywood covering 100% of the floors. Woody from Two Men and a Truck went into the attic with me and I showed him everything in the attic that would need to be moved. Woody gave me a price for the cost of moving the contents of the house (which included the attic). He also knew I was looking at a competitive company. On the day of the move the movers would not move anything out of the third floor/attic stating it was their policy not to go into an unfinished attic. Again their own sales representative walked it, inventoried it, and based his price on it.... I reviewed all of the paperwork provided by Two Men and a Truck prior to, and on the day of the move and nothing stated they couldn't move items from a 3rd floor attic even if it was an unfished attic. Woody did not state they couldn't move items from an attic. I called Claims Manager Patrick Worthy on the day of the move and he stated they would get back to me. Mr. Worthy never returned my calls other than leaving one message on the day of the move that he called Woody Atkinson (their sales rep), who never called me to address the problem. I called Patrick Worthy 4 more times (April 21, 27, May 1, 4) to request to be compensated back money for the 1/3 of the house they refused to move as I was required to move these items the following day using a rental Uhaul. In addition the movers themselves damage a multiple items during the move including brand new office furture. The movers ripped the drawers out of a wood filing cabinet, drug an office desk, filing cabinet, living room chair and couch on the concrete driveway damaging the sides and ends. But don?t worry the remedy for fixing was a wood stain marker the movers applied to the damaged ends and sides. After finally getting a chance to speak in length with claims manager Patrick Worthy it was clear he was not interested in assisting me with my concerns, and stated there was nothing he could do. I asked for to speak with someone else and stated Tim Kiran (Customer Care Director) was his boss. However as you can guess I never heard from Tim Kiran or anyone else regarding the poor service Two Men and a Truck offered and its now June 30 th 2015. I highly recommend not using Two Men in a Truck from Raleigh NC. The following is an update following the posting of the above: The day after I posted the above message I did receive a call from Tim Kiran. Over the follow few weeks Tim had gotten me compensation for 1/3 house that was not moved by the movers and sent out an individual to repair the damaged furniture. I appreciate the follow up by Tim to remedy the the issues.

We had the best experience with our move. It went so smooth, they were on time and did a fantastic job. The walls weren't marked, nothing broke and they even moved a heavy piece of furniture because I couldn't make up my mind which room to put it in. Our movers were Shawn, Kendrick and Mo. They were polite, thoughtful and very nice to work with. I would recommend them to anyone. My sister-in-law is also moving and we will request the same crew. Great job! Thanks

When I went to pick up my stuff from the storage unit, about half of my stuff was missing. So much time had passed, that it was too late to confront them, and claim that they had stolen my items. I approached a lawyer, and he stated it would be too much of a "hassle" to pursue charges. I had a devastating experience with this moving company, as I did not have exact proof in my hand that stuff was missing because I did not find out it happened till well after the move had taken place. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for moving services.

The pre move customer contact was via email and phone. We discusswd the meeds of the move and the rep appeared to understand. One need was for the matress and box spring to be covered in a clean covering to avoid dirt due to severe allergies. She said I could buy mattress bags and I ($7.50 each) agreed. The moving men were clean and courteous. The move was quick and efficient. However, the mattress and box spring were not covered. While carrying the mattress up the stairs of my home, one of the men fell on my mattress causing a foot long mark on my wall. I noticed they did not properly cover my $1000 mattress and it was covered with dust and dirt from the truck. It was my understanding that the office undertood the severe allergy issue. I called and asked them to clean my mattress and no one called back in spite if the customer service man telling me he would speak with the owner. Ignoring an issue is rude and it will not secure future business.

They called 15 minutes before scheduled arrival to let us know they were running about 15 minutes late. Once the paperwork was signed, they got right to work. We had two great crews (4 men and 2 trucks). They were friendly, professional, careful, and quick. I was honestly surprised that they worked so quickly as you're charged by the hour (rounded to quarter hour). Our new home has a lot more hardwoods, and they carefully placed tables, etc. on their sides on blankets so I could put felt pads on the legs, then flipped them all for us. They even moved the living room furniture around while I decided just where we wanted it positioned. One office chair had a broken wheel in the move, and they informed us it broke and explained how to get reimbursed for the repair. I would absolutely recommend them and use them again.

Dorian and Cedric did an excellent job. They were very quick, very professional and very careful with the loading and unloading of our furniture. The only hiccup was that the dispatcher had told us we would get a call if they came later than 10:30, they came around 12:30 and called us at 12:00 when they were 30 minutes away, as they were instructed to do. So there was clearly a communication breakdown between the office and the guys on the truck. We did panic a little, given it was a Sunday and the office is closed, there is literally no way to get a hold of anyone. Any way, it all worked out. Would be good to have an after hours emergency number.

My husband and I used this company to move our 1 bedroom appartment from Morrisville to Durham. They call the day before and rescheduled our time from 8am to a window between 11am - 1pm. They did offer an additional mover for the inconvience. However the movers did not show up till after 2:15. This was a terrible inconvience as it was just me and my husband doing the move. We had actually began to make other plans to rent a u-haul, as we had to be out of our appartment that day. Also we had attemped to contact the office for two men and a truck only to find out that the location we had used was closed on Sundays. Basically we were left floundering around with no point of contact to assist. Once the movers came they were quick, and polite. However a few days after we were settling in I was doing laundry, only to find out that my front load dryer is now making a horrible sound as though something internal is off balance. I had contacted the Raleigh office, and was instructed to file a claim for the damage, and that they would get back with me. Over a week went by with no reply, so I had called and spoke with Patrick to set up a time for verifiction of the velidity of my claim. He was suppose to come verify the damage claim 6/18 @ 4:30 pm. I called the office and spoke to Partick who reassured me that we were on for our appointment. Long story short....no call no show. So this is where we are now. As a word of advice dont chose this moving company
