Sustainable Pest Systems (SPS)

Treatment for indoor insects and quarterly followup. The tech mentioned several things that could be changed to discourage the insects (in addition to treatments) like no leaves or pine straw near the house. Also some recommendations with the rain barrels that I had not thought of. Overall very professional, on-time, willing to teach, and effective insect control.

First, they are very responsive. I got a person in the phone immediately and was able to quickly have someone come out to the house. The house is occupied by house sitters right now, which added an extra layer of communication, which they handled very well. They coordinated visits with house sitters, informing them of what was going on and what recommendations they had for me. And, they did a great job of being in touch with me. I had questions about the chemicals they use and their approach and was impressed with their mixture of eco-friendly pest management. I never got the hard sell you hear from other places. Only information and education. Really nice. I was so impressed that I decided to ask them about their yearly service plan. I had some more questions about that. Suzanne asked the technician to call me and he was really terrific to talk to. They are really minimalists with use of chemicals and were able to really contrast what they do from others (for example, the other "eco friendly" place that wanted to use a high pressure sprayer spraying 15 feet around the house with little regard for my garden and the need for some "good" bugs) I signed up for their plan ($380 for quarterly treatment on a 900 square foot home).

Most of the yellow jackets were already gone when they came. He checked the nest and sprayed the remaining yellow jackets in the nest.

There were bed bugs found in the box springs and they were all eliminated. The room and closets were all treated. I have had no more problems since the service was done.

The Sustainable Pest Systems crew was absolutely wonderful. They were very helpful in investigating the problem, and proposing solutions. They were friendly and punctual. We would definitely have them back, though hopefully we won't need to!

This is the 2nd year we've used them. ( see first review below.) Also came June 20, 2014. Their non-toxic yard spraying is very effective. We live in a cleared forest area, surrounded by wildlife and woods, therefore: ticks and fleas abound -- and find our cats. Along with our indoor and cat flea-control, this seems to be keeping us clear of the house and yard invasion we experienced last year. The men are on time, professional, work efficiently and thoroughly. Calls to the Raleigh office are handled in a friendly and professional manner. All I can say is we like this company and highly recommend them. Aug. 2013 - other than a glitch in communication (I'd expected him 2 days before), the job went very quickly and easily. actually, he came on a Saturday because of the communication thing -- something we appreciated very much. I'm not sure how it's working, just hoping it did the job. We'll probably need them again in a month, and I wouldn't hesitate. they are a good company.

We are very happy with the services we have received from Sustainable Pest Systems. We had them come to the house to first inspect for termites and then again to setup the bait stations. They were professional and very knowledgeable about how to prevent termites and damage to our house. We set up a termite bond with them as well so they will come out throughout the year and check the stations and make sure they are keeping the termites away from the house. If we ever have any type of bug issue, they are the ones we are going to call!

Nathan and Eric showed up on time, inspected the attic and crawl space for termites, insects, and pests. They were thoroguh, detailed, and professional. We had a black ant problem (we knew about it before hand). They notified us how the ants were getting in, and they got rid of the colony in the crawl space. They also did an exterior ant treatment. They notified us we had no termite activity, but we did have other minor insect activity (smoky brown acitivy in crawl space, smoky brown staining in attic). They performed the one time treatment for $150, and notified us of a quarterly plan they offer for $400/year. If we sign up for the quarterly within 30 days, the $150 will go toward the $400 quarterly treatment. I will discuss the quarterly with my wife. They offered, and I agreed, to write up a proposal for the quarterly. Their offering of the quarterly treatment was not pushy at all. Just a polite and professional mention of it - as they are supposed to do. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased. Great guys, professional services done well. Definitely will use them for any future pest needs.

Excellent service! Each time I have called them they are informative, efficient and customer service oriented. The first treatment was done in May and I could see results within 12 hours. I was mosquito, tick and spider free for 5 weeks. It was wonderful enjoying the back yard and deck without getting eaten alive. We have a creek in the backyard so we have had issues with mosquitos for years. The dogs love being tick free as well. Rudy and Jeremiah are very informative and educated regarding their services. Highly recommend them.

I called and was given an appointment that day! Provider was running late as I was an add-on to his day. He called and apologized though and was very professional. He came to the house, was very nice and personable and checked out under the house. He found nothing and offered future prevention services but was not pushy about it. I will certainly call them in the future for pest control! I was quite pleased overall!

Started with Sustainable Pest Systems in 2012. Had a pesky problem with bugs. This was the first time we encountered this problem in 25 years. Jeremiah and Rudy did a good analysis and treated the problems accordingly. In addition they were willing and did come back for follow-up when we spotted some lingering pests.

I called to find about a general termite check, looking for a locally owned business. I didn't realize that termite checks generally are part of a broader plan. Nevertheless, Jeremiah did a check on the house to determine if a) we had termites, and b) if we had any other general infestations that might merit a plan. He determined that we didn't have any issues. He gave us a quote for a plan if we wanted one--no pressure. If we had an infestation of any kind, or felt the need to be on a regular plan, we most certainly would have called Sustainable, due entirely to Jeremiah's honesty.

Overall, I was completely satisfied and would def recommend to anyone with a termite problem.

I have to start out with saying that I absolutely love this company. Everyone is very friendly, knowledgable, and their treatment worked! Our house has a water run off that flows behind our house, which at times contains standing water. This has been a breeding ground for mosquitos. It was so bad that we weren't even able to sit out on our deck during the day. If you went to water the flowers your arm would be covered in a few minutes with mosquitos. We had tried everything and I mean everything. We have spent over $1000 on 2 very expensive mosquito traps. We spent even more money trying other companies's treatments. Plus, we've purchased our own foggers, sprays, dunks, bracelets, ThermaCells, clip-ons, candles, and anything else that could possibly help. None of it was enough, we still were unable to enjoy our front or backyard. Finally, we signed up for Angie's list and saw an ad for Sustainable Pest. I would love to be more eco-sensitive but in the back of my mind I always thought harsh chemicals equaled stronger and better, boy was I wrong! Sustainable Pest was happy to give an estimate and take the time to explain the treatment and answer any questions we had. We figured it was worth a try and signed up for a single treatment to see how it went. As you can tell by my description it went well, very well. My husband and I can finally sit outside, have a vegetable garden, and cook out. The results surpassed all expectations, I've spent hours outside without a single bite. Of course, we signed up for treatments for the rest of the 2012 season and have just setup treatments for this year :) We have had such a good experience we have recommended them to co-workers. They have already set up appointments and commented on how friendly and responsive they were, which is always great to hear when you recommend a company. So I feel good to know I can continue to recommend Sustainable Pest and I will!

I called Sustainable Pest Systems and asked if they could send someone out to look at the wooden window frames that were being replaced. I wanted to be sure the damage wasn't caused by termites. They came out the very next day and not only looked at the exposed wood, but checked out the crawl space and the siding on my house. I will certainly call them again.

100% successful with elimination of ants and roaches inside of the house. Would definitely use them again!

penThis company is GREAT. I was already unhappy about having fleas in my home in the first place. I am very susceptible and was being eaten alive. They were compassionate to my plight and very competent. Scheduling my appointment was easy and they were very considerate of my schedule. I received email confirmations for my dates and detailed written instructions on how to prepare for treatment. The technician was prompt, professional and very nice as well. He asked about trouble spots and I felt very comfortable leaving him alone in my home. I returned to no smell and very little indication of the treatment. Due to the pervasive nature of fleas, a two week follow up was mandated from the start. In the two weeks prior to the follow up, I already saw a reduction in the infestation. At the time of the follow up, the tech was concerned about the fact that there was still activity and suggested another follow up may be needed. After two weeks, the office called to see if I felt this was still warranted. Since I was not being bitten anymore, I felt confident saying No. Another couple weeks went by and I seemed to have 1 or 2 more bites. I called back and indicated I thought I might need that other follow up. There was no questions asked and they came back even though I began wondering if it was all in my head. My house is now flea free and I am very grateful to Sustainable Pest!!

Sustainable pest came over and explained what they would do and with what they would do it. They were very upfront with the fact that while this was green and plant-based they were still using pesticides so the "green-ness" was relative. While they offered a monthly mosquite treatment they recommended a yearly one and we agreed. On first scheduled day it rained heavily and they called to cancel and scheduled the next available day. On that day they came over and sprayed the backyard for mosquitos, sprayed edges and cracks of homes for other bugs and put out bait for the roaches in the crawl space. Mosquito improvement was almost immediate. Went from being outside for a couple minutes and waving away 20 mosquitos to being outside for 20 minutes and waving away a couple. Roaches were also gone in a brief period of time. It has been 3+ month and there are still very little mosquito presence and only the occasional (once a month?) roach sighting.

Have been using SPS for a year now and very happy with their services. Very responsive. They have come out a few times between scheduled visits to take care of any issues. They got rid of a bad ant problem we had really quickly.

Representative was punctual, knowledgeable, arrived on time and completed the work as described. The inspection and treatment seemed thorough. We have had no problems since the treatment.

Jeremiah came the day after I called. I was concerned about possible bedbugs as my daughter had recently traveled and complained of insect bites. He did complete visual inspection and inspection with trained dog and thankfully found no bed bugs. He did find some carpet beetles and told what to do about them. He was great!! I consider this money well spent for my peace of mind. I will definitely call him again for any future concerns

Jeremiah came very promptly and did a good inspection with some helpful information about what insects we had and where they were coming from. But when he gave the estimate, it was for quarterly treatment for about $400 a year. If you are willing to pay that much to have someone completely take care of your insect problems using the least toxic stuff possible, he's your guy. We decided to get a bunch of baits and boric acid pellets and seem to have gotten things under control ourselves for a little more effort but far, far lower cost. To be fair, he was willing to negotiate to do a 1 time treatment or come fewer times a year, but it didn't seem worth it because he said that the 4 treatments a year are really what is needed to keep the pests under control.

Great, Jeremiah came by and quoted me, was very knowledgeable. Service was performed a few days later, technician also very knowledgeable.

Saw a black snake in my basement, called a wild life man who didnot meet my needs, Looking thru Angie,s list book, I found this company who specified they removed snakes. Called and made an appointment Came on time. throughly inspected my basement under deck and under front porch. filled holes, set traps. Although the snake was not found I believe we will catch him or he will not come back into the basement. Very satisfied with the work.
