Description of Work: Shamrock Waterproofing, Inc. did an excellent job at installing a drainage solution to address the standing water that would pool between my house and the neighbors house. They were able to do a free estimate within 3 days of contacting them, the estimate was right within my price range, and the work was completed within 2 weeks of the initial outreach. The crew that completed the work were extremely polite and the entire job was done within 2 hours. I would definitely hire Shamrock Waterproofing again!

Keith was very professional and showed up when promised to give the estimate. Speaking of his estimate it was itemized, clear and easy to understand even for my wife and I, who have never worked with a contractor of any kind before! He provided us with two estimates: An estimate for just having the drain installed. An estimate for having the drain installed and the backyard re-graded for enhanced drainage. We chose to go with Estimate 1, because it was too late in the summer to simply re-seed and because it allowed us to spread out the cost. After contacting Keith with our desire to move forward with estimate #1, he reminded me to call 811 a week before they were to show up so that the various utilities and cables and pipes etc, would all be dutifully marked. This allowed Keith's team to get straight to work without fear of hitting a power line or a sewer pipe or my cable line. Funny thing, the cable line. It wasn't where they had marked it to be. Nevertheless, shortly after breaking the cable line Keith's crew took steps to get resolved within a couple of hours! It was resovled before they left! Keith's team will unfortunately remember our yard for years to come. Soft and grassy on the top, it hides some of the hardest packed Carolina clay I've ever seen. Yet these men, 4-5 of them, heaving pickaxes and mattocks resulted in thuds we could hear inside the house as well as measurable progress in the trench! Even better, in the process of digging the trench for the pipe, Keith's team took great care to cut the sod out in such a way that they could replace it. Furthermore, part of Keith's after-work walkthrough included instructions and advice on how to best ensure that the sod retook. One of the things that struck me as, special or different than some labor-managers I have met, is that Keith made sure his team had, by the time they arrived on site, shelter in the case of rain, plenty of water to drink and, perhaps most importantly his rapport with his team was professional, but also friendly. It wasn't a situation of a taskmaster and laborers, but a real team. I appreciate that and look forward to working with Shamrock again in the future!

Shamrock Waterproofing does great work, they are neat and fast, and provide a free quote before the work is done. Also, their quote is less than their competitors quote. When they do the work, they bring in a lot of heavy equipment, but will not disturb anyone; while leaving the job site neat and well done.

Keith Locker (owner) met with me near my workplace to go over the estimate and explain the work. Very friendly and professional. He took the time to explain to me what was possible versus what was necessary to solve my damp crawlspace. His recommendations we much less than others had suggested and made much more sense. He and his crew turned up on time, worked quickly and professionally. Keith came back to go over the work and make sure that I was satisfied.I would definitely use and recommend his services again.

Keith is knowledgeable, prompt, able to offer a variety of solutions to the problem, reasonable, and quick to provide a detailed and accurate estimate. He explains everything very carefully and listens well. He takes credit cards, too (not everyone does). Something that really impressed me was the demeanor of his crew, who were obviously very much at ease with themselves and with Keith while they worked (VERY hard)--light banter, excellent working relationships among crew and manager. I think that's an indication that this is a good company to work for, and when I mentioned it to Keith, he said that at least one of them had been with him for 12 years. I know that good treatment of workers may not make a difference to everyone, but it does to me, especially when people work so hard and competently. These men know their job, do it well, and apparently enjoy it. I really appreciated the care they took with my plants, leaving my yard as if they had never been there. To sum it up, Keith's crew was great--on time, fast, and effective. I couldn't be more pleased. This morning, we had the first downpour since the waterproofing was done, and my basement is completely dry. I am confident it will stay that way.
Description of Work: The amount above reflects two separate jobs I had Shamrock do for me. The first ( Nov. 2011: $1000) was to waterproof one end of my 1941 house where there was some seepage into a converted garage. The second (Jan 2012: $2185) was more extensive work to waterproof my basement. The first job, because it involved waterproofing a room that sat on a concrete slab, involved less digging. In both cases, Keith installed French drains after spraying a waterproofing membrane and installing drain core protection board and mat. For the basement waterproofing, he also installed a new sump pump so that he could raise the water that reached the French drain to ground level for runoff. This won't be necessary for everyone, but my property is graded such that it would have invoved a lot of expensive trenching to have it exit at ground level, so this was the best option. I am an avid gardener, and in both cases, the work entailed disturbing planting beds with expensive shrubs and small trees. Keith's crew carefully dug these up, placed them in some pots I had lying around, when possible, and replanted them exactly as they had been, originally. After the basement job, they even went to my mulch pile and mulched the area. I don't see how anyone could ask for more.

Overall the job went very well and I am 100% satisfied. Keith was punctual, knowledgeable, and professional. After having him come out for the initial quote, I asked him to come back out because I had discovered an additional issue that I believed was contributing to my water problem (involving the downspouts) and he again was punctual and suggested a cost effective solution. I selected him to do the work based on his reasonable cost, proposed solution, and based on past reviews on this website and on our neighborhood list serve. He showed up on time and completed the work as agreed. In terms of the exterior work, the installation was very professionally done. The work involved tunneling/trenching through some flower beds and I could barely tell where the pipe was laid when I saw the finished product. In terms of the crawlspace work, I haven't been around the entire crawlspace yet, however I did go into the section that had previously been flooded during a rain storm and there was no water, and I could see the sump doing its job pumping water from the exterior pipe they installed. What I did see of the vapor barrier and french drain work looked very good. Apparently during the course of the work the cable for our internet access, which runs through the crawlspace, was inadvertently disconnected. I emailed Keith the next morning explaining that it suspected it might have been disconnected during the job and he sent his crew back the next day to fix it. When I got home from work that day, Keith was waiting so I could test it to make sure it was fixed and it was.
Description of Work: The crawlspace had a significant amount of ponding water after rain. I had several contractors propose solutions and provide estimates for drying out the crawlspace. I received estimates ranging from waterproofing the entire exterior foundation to installing an interior french drain with a sump pump. After evaluating all of the proposed methods to deal with the water and evaluating various quotes for the same services I selected Shamrock to install an interior french drain and sump, as well as bury a drain pipe off of one of the downspouts and connect another drain pipe to an existing drain system. This entailed tunneling under a sidewalk and installing a pop-up drain in the yard away from the house. They also removed the old vapor barrier, removed all of the debris in the crawlspace, installed a new vapor barrier, and sprayed and wiped the joists to kill any mold or fungus that was growing on the wood.

As stated above, I was overall very happy with the total job.
Description of Work: This is a very professional company. Estimate and work were performed on time and efficiently. I had a drainage problem, which was corrected by installing corrigated pipe from a downspout to the street drainage ditch. Shamrock arrived on time, worked neatly, and were finished in less time than was estimated. They removed and set aside topsoil and grass, which they later replaced neatly. At all stages of the work, they cleaned up and left the property very much as they found it. They hauled off all waste. I was very happy with the job done and the friendly way that it was performed.

Shamrock was fantastic. These guys were excellent. We got an estimate from them and had them do the work fairly quickly afterwards. The bill was about $2200 or $2400. They did really good work. Their price was great. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. Every other contractor that came out and looked at the work in the crawlspace were super impressed with how well these guys had done their job because that's where they put in the interior drain. When a contractor or an electrician or a plumber comes out and looks at work for an interior drain and says that is really good, they have no reason to do that so they were obviously seeing something that was of high quality. I don't know what exactly I want to say about Shamrock, but I would recommend them to anybody.

Shamrock did a very complete and professional job for us. We had a quote from the previous home owners so we knew what to expect in terms of price. Scheduling the initial visit was painless and the Shamrock rep showed up on time to help explain their quote. We had some questions about additional remediation work in our crawl space, such as using a sealant on the brick walls, but the Shamrock rep explained that we probably didn't need to use the sealant approach, which would have cost perhaps another $1,000. It took Shamrock less than a day to perform all of the work, and it turned out better than expected. Now, two months later our crawlspace is much drier and the previous humidity smell is gone.
Description of Work: Shamrock installed an extended french drain and new plastic sheeting in our crawl space. They also re-caulked several large cracks in our drive way, as well as a large gap between our driveway and foundation

The project went well. No issues, they were even able to coordinate with the terminate company to let them treat the French drains with termite repellent.
Description of Work: They torn down the old fiberglass insulation. Treated lumber with fungicide, the reinforced some spans that had suffered water damage. They dug out a French drain around the interior of the foundation then installed a vapor and sump pump. He helped me save money be showing me which dehumidifier to purchase. we had spoken to several contractors and had gotten a different method from each one for waterproofing the section of the house that required it. Keith at Shamrock was the first who literally walked us through what he would do and explained why and how he would do what he considered necessary. If we bought up something mentioned by another contractor he told us why he would or would not use that method. My wife was very pleased with the fact that his answers to questions were in fact direct answers and not a speech created to make him look knowledgable and us stupid. Bottom line is we were told exactly what to expect and why it would do what we needed it to do. We asked him to submit his proposal, which he did within 2 days. Everything was itemized and when all was said and done we received all itemized items and then some. His crew was polite and hardworking (a major understatement) and done ahead of schedule. I am absolutely convinced that we received exceptional quality for a fair cost. I am probably the last person to take time to either complain or praise someone who I would expect to provide the service I paid for. In this case I believe if I convince another to use Shamrock Waterproofing then I have added a really good deed to my list.
Description of Work: Keiths' team trenched the rear wall of the house to include the upper screened porch, they first removed any plants that were in the way. They then coated and lined the walls with appropriate waterproofing materials. They removed a section of sidewalk in order to lay the continuous drain line. We had planned on removing this section already so it worked to our benefit. The house is a split level on a hill and the lower porch is adjacent to the slab at the lower level of the house. at this porch they removed a section of slab and installed a metal grated drain in front of the patio door to prevent any water entry at this point. They removed a 'window well' made of a corrugated metal and fabricated a new one which looked much better. They tied all the drain lines, including the condenser line from the AC and the gutter downspout (for which they were not responsible) into one drain system. This was beneficial as it created a much neater look for that area of the house. They then cleaned the entire area and reseeded and lay down straw as well as replacing any plants they had first removed.

While purchasing our home, the house inspector found evidence of prior water incursion into the basement. Before putting an offer down we had Keith out to tell us what it would need to prevent further issues. He was recommended by our real estate agent. He came very promptly and gave an estimate, without any promise of our using his services if we bought the house. We did and shortly thereafter had him out to perform the waterproofing and drainage work. They did a great job and even found an irrigation system leak and left that issue easier to be fixed. We eventually had a bit of ground settling with all the rain, but Keith was out to fix that pronto.
Description of Work: Dug up the side of the house, added a French drain to channel the water away and sealed the side of the foundation. Also cleaned out a public drain pipe near the back of the property to prevent backups that would affect our yard.

We thought we had a water problem in our crawl space after the recent down pouring rains we've had. The air was musty and the ground under the vapor barrier had become damp. I called Keith at Shamrock and made an appointment. Keith came out (on time) and took a look. He determined that while the crawl space had some excess humidity, we did not have a water proofing problem and that there was not fungus developing at this time. He went through the various options and pricing to address the humidity issue; but then recommended we wait and keep an eye on things as the hot, humid weather passes. Keith was looking out for what was best for us and not trying to sell me something I didn't need. We'll keep an eye on things, but if we do need to do something, I'll call Keith at Shamrock to do the work. He was thoroughly professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.

A plumber noticed that I had moisture on a foundation wall in my basement as well as around cracks in the foundation beneath the garage and recommended that I contact a waterproofing company. On the basis of a recommendation from a friend, I called Keith Locker at Shamrock Waterproofing in Raleigh. Keith came out promptly, reassured me that I didn't have major foundation problems, and gave me an estimate for fixing the problems, which was much lower than I was expecting. The work was done within a week of the estimate, and I haven't had any problems since. Keith was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable, and I can't recommend him highly enough.

I was purchasing a home and there was a discrepancy between two contractors approach to remediate a minor water problem in the crawlspace. I contacted Keith as a third party to get an objective analysis. He had an independent perspective and was thorough in his inspection and recommendation. I found Shamrock Waterproofing on Angie's list and after researching further, found them to be highly recommended by others. My problem was that water appeared to be entering my crawlspace and I could even see evidence of this happening. As a result, the tools that I store down there had become moldy and I was concerned that my foundation may eventually be compromised by the water penetration. The first company I called recommended sealing the entire crawlspace, essentially using floor to wall plastic. This seemed illogical to me. Water enters in from ground so let's just put plastic on top? It didn't strike me as a long-term solution. Oh, and did I mention that this would cost around $5K? The second company pitched a similar solution with the addition of drainage along the inner edge of the foundation. This made more sense and seemed like a more permanent solution, but at the same time, why even let water in in the first place? The second company acknowledged that I would need another professional to fully fix the problem...from the outside. Their cost, also around $5K. If you call these crawlspace waterproofing companies you will quickly find what I did- they want to cross-sell and up-sell you on their services whether necessary or not. In fact, they didn't really address my problem at all. That's when I called Shamrock. Keith came out quickly and diagnosed the problem. He noted that the problem seemed new and isolated, and suggested a fix along the exterior of the foundation. He also felt like the problem would only get worse if not addressed in this manner. This made a lot more sense to me. Keith's crew knocked the job out in 5-6 hours, manually digging out the problem area by hand. Parts of the area had mulch and his crew removed the mulch first and put it in a separate pile from the dirt so it could be returned as he found it. Two large plants had to be removed. The crew was professional and meticulous and in the end, you would have never known they were there. The work was recently performed and only time will tell if Shamrock's fix was the right one. I feel very confident that it is and that I made the right call. My experience was positive start to finish and I would highly recommend this company.

Excellent. He was very patient while we got ready to spend $2k. He came when promised, was so quiet and efficient that we didn't even notice he was there.
