A friend noticed water dripping from the water heater. Looking at the heater he told me what he thought the problem was and the heater would probably need to be replaced and he gave me an idea of what it would cost. Called Schwartz Plumbing on 06/20/11 and a technician came out the same day and diagnosed the problem. The technican said the same thing my friend said and the price was fairly close. Replacing the water heater was schedule for June 22, 11. The technican was on time for both visits. Replacing the water heater was quick. He answered all my questions and made sure I understood the difference between the old water heater and the new water heater controls. He replaced the shower cartridge which was not a part of the estimated cost at no charge to me. I'm pleased with the quick turn around time, the time taken to make sure I understood the new controls and the assurance that I can call anytime if I have a problem knowing that I will get the same quality service. Good job Schwartz Plumbing Co.
Description of Work: Replaced 40 gallon gas water heater in garage. Had to change moen shower cartridge that stopped up bleeding water heater.

We needed a new water heater so I decided to check out the tankless varieties. Called Schwarz and they came the next day to do an estimate. I was introduced to the hybrid type -- which sounded good, but both it and the tankless model were so much higher than the conventional that it was not contest. I asked the plumber who eventually installed our water heater about how people could justify the price difference and he explained that they were more popular when there was a sizable tax credit attached. The conventional -- at one-third the cost of the tankless suits us just fine. I placed the order and was given an installation date within just a couple of days. They showed up on time, completed the installation with no problems, and we've been enjoying long hot showers ever since.
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate on tankless water heaters. I got estimates for three types of water heaters: tankless, hybrid and conventional. Chose the conventional. Installed promptly.

Schwartz (Bob was my technician) responded very quickly to my request for service and scheduled a visit to provide a free quote. They also provided me the name of a good tile guy and local plumbing supply compaines to select high quality valves and fixtures from. The quote was reasonable. Once I got the hardware and coordinated the schedules of Schwartz and the tile guy, the work was started and completed on schedule. I have had no problems with the work done. Bob was courteous and professional. There were no surprise charges. The only thing I might change is that they cut two access panels in a closet to access the shower valves (at my request to minimize tile damage), but just stuck the cut-out sheetrock back in when finished leaving large and unsightly gaps. It would have been nice for them to offer to install a piece of plywood over the access panels. No big deal though because it's not really what they do. I took care of that myself in 30 minutes. I would definitely use Schwartz again.
Description of Work: Installed new shower pan liner, drain flange, and p-trap, moved shower drain to center, replaced two shower valves/fawcettes.

I have used Schwartz Plumbing for a variety of plumbing repairs for many years. Their service, punctuality and quality of workmanship are all excellent. Prices are high though. But, I recently hired Roto Rooter to repair a toilet because Schwartz does not generally work on weekends. Roto Rooter charged 1/3 more than Schwartz Plumbing for the same repair job even though they claim they don't charge extra for nights and weekends. I guess Roto Rooter just charges high prices all the time. And I have to call Roto Rooter to come back because they botched the repair job. I have never had to call Schwartz Plumbing back for a return visit because something wasn't done right the first time. My only negative experience was when Schwartz installed a water sensor and water shut-off valve on my gas water heater (which the builder ignorantly installed in my attic). The water sensor/valve was installed when my new water heater was installed and was good for one use only (this was disclosed to me prior to installation). I believe the $400 valve was installed correctly. However, the valve failed less than a year after installation and was not covered by any warranty. I had to pay another $400 for a newer water sensor/valve design that could be reset. I don't like paying twice for the same job. Because of the repeat business I have given Schwartz for many years and the early life failure of this expensive sensor/valve, Schwartz should have at least offered free labor to replace the defective part (less than 30 minutes labor). So, I will probably choose Schwartz Plumbing again, unless I have another weekend emergency plumbing need. And I'm always scanning Angie's List looking for a better alternative.
Description of Work: Variety of services over many years including toilet repairs, new exterior faucet installation, replace utility sink in laundry room, replace kitchen sink disposal, replace gas water heater and install water sensor/ emergency shut off valve on my gas water heater. Most recent experience was the installation of a new utility sink in my laundry room. An early life failure of the water sensor/shut off valve on my gas water heater was not reimbursed by Schwartz Plumbing (parts or labor).

Don't remember the exact amount so the $150 listed above may be slightly off. The plumber they sent was very helpful, pleasant to talk to, and even checked a few drains for us at no cost while he was here. And the disposal install went very well. Would definitely use them again.

They are a local plumbing company. They are good. Their pricing is reasonable. They answer the phone and come out quickly. My experience with them was good. They are responsive and did a great job. I try to find good people and they do good job, so they get good grade. They are as good as any plumbing company.

I probably contacted half a dozen plumbers and they were by far the most responsive. They had the best price and they delivered on it. They were also one of the only recognized providers for this new technology. When I looked on the website they had done many more than others. They really obviously know what they are doing. I would absolutely use them in the future.

I called them because they had such good reviews to get a ball park estimate for the work to be done. The lady took down my information and never called me back. I called back a few days later and again the lady wasn't very helpful. Could not even give me a ball park figure for what any one of the services would cost. Since I didn't know if they were even in a reasonable price range I decided to go with someone else.

Mid-Saturday morning entering garage encountered hissing sound and then observed water on walls and floor around gas hot water heater. Using ladder determined that leak was in transition between flexible copper pipe that exits top of water heater (hot water) and house piping. Called Shwartz's phone number and was answered by answering service. Left message. Call was returned within 30 minutes. Explained problem and was told because it was Saturday it would be at least $200. Fine by me because we were planning to attend the NHL All Star Fan Fest in downtown Raleigh. Chris showed up ~45 minutes later and had the issue diagnosed in a matter of minutes (leak in house piping right next to the transition). Had it fixed in 5-10 minutes. He did a good job explaining the problem and gave me the section of the transition he had cut out. Beyond asking me if there were any other problems, he did not try to sell me anything. This is so unlike what I've experienced with HVAC service personnel. We were on our way to the Fan Fest around noon. What started out as a disaster for our plans ended up being a minor inconvenience. The actual cost was lower because the repair could not be guaranteed given the condition of the house piping (visually evident from the short section Chris had to cut out). He also spent a little time explaining the optimum hot water temp setting and how the heater's temperature mechanism worked. Oddly enough, for a water leak on a Saturday when we had plans in motion, it turned out to be a positive experience.

Do - Ask for an estimate Detail: We noticed that water dripped into the downstairs bath whenever the shower in the upstairs bath was running. The fellow from Schwartz Pluming immediately figured out what was going on and scheduled two fellows to come over and replace the waste and overflow pipes of the tub. They arrived and did replace the waste pipe as well as the automatic stopper. The price was a bit high but they did totally fix the problem. They did not offer to replace the ceiling downstairs, but I was able to do it very quickly. Because we were going to have some tile fixed in the same bathroom as the one with the tub leak we asked them to remove the toilet from that room and they did. The total for this visit was $250.00 (a little high - but the work was done correctly and professionally) After the tile was fixed we asked them to return and set the new toilet we purchased and to replace the cold water shutoff valves for two bathrooms and replace the water fill valve in one of the bathrooms. This was all done very quickly. When the cold water was turned back on to the toilet we wanted the fill valve replaced on the plumber reported that it did not need replacing but was probably malfunctioning due to a pressure problem. The next day it failed again and I replaced it myself. The total for his visit was $350.00 (a little high - but the work was done correctly and professionally) This company is very good at what they do and they guarantee their work.
Description of Work: They diagnosed and fixed a leak in the waste pipe from the tub. They had to remove a piece of wall-board from the downstair bath to access the tub. They also removed a toilet that we were having replaced in conjunction with tiling the bathroom. All the work was done correctly. I replaced the wall board that was removed. They also set a new toilet in the bathroom that was tiled and replaced the cold water shutoff valves for two toilets.

Our kitchen faucet started to run slowly over the weekend, eventually just to trickle. We called Swartz Plumbing the first thing Monday morning and a plumber came out late that afternoon. Bob replaced the inside of the shutoff valve and cleaned out the deteriorated washer that was clogging the supply lines. The faucet now works perfectly. Bob was friendly and professional and showed me how to fix the problem in the future if it occurs again. I would definitely call Swartz Plumbing again.

We had a severe loss of water pressure. It took 4 days to get an appointment, but then they showed up on time and gave us an estimate. They did not charge for this, since we then made an appointment to have the work done by them. We had extensive questions, and they took the time to help us research the answers. Our well pump had cut the pipe leading from the well to the house. "Bob" replaced the pipe and installed torque arresters to prevent the pump impeller from doing this again. It ended up costing less than his original estimate. He showed up early, worked in the rain, and got the job done in less time than we had been told it would take. We are pleased with the work, the price, the time it took, and the manner of the people we dealt with on the phone and in person. A few years ago they came out, made a reasonable diagnosis of another problem, did the repair, charged us, and then, it turned out, that was not the problem (which you couldn't really have known until you made that repair and saw that the problem continued). They refunded our money. The plumbing in this house has never been great. For twenty years I have said we have a "plumbing ghost." I have been through a few plumbers. But today I called Schwartz again, because we have yet another, completely unrelated, plumbing problem, and so that's my recommendation: when I need a plumber, I call Schwartz. And I got an appointment for tomorrow.
Description of Work: Replaced pipe from well, and installed torque arresters, because well pump impeller had sliced pipe from well to house. This involved pulling out 200 feet of PVC pipe and replacing it with a new kind of pipe that we were told is far less likely to crack.

The work went fine, but I returned home that night to find an over-tightened valve screw had caused some damage. Eric arrived exactly on time, was professional, courteous, cleaned up after work was done. After installation was completed, had me climb up to attic so he could explain how the system works and exactly what to do if a gas leak or power outtage should occur. I had two other estimates: Schwartz Plumbing came in at $600 less than both of the others and includes a 12 year warranty plus they will come out every three years at no charge to "de-scale" the unit.

My quote was installing black iron steel pipe to match the existing materials in the house. Most other companies use flex gas piping which is quick to install. The job in question would have taken 3 to 4 hours(Pipe has to be threaded) and a permit and inspection done along with a gas test. I am sorry this member was upset .It pays to compare "apples to apples" before of firing off a negative comment on Angie's list. Regards, Stuart Schwartz

We have used Schwartz several times and have found them honest, fair and competent. They are customer focused and will bend over backwards to satisfy the customer. We had a hiccup on the install, nothing serious and they came out immediately (after hours within an hour of my call to their answering service!) to correct it. They arrived on time and finished on time. They are not the cheapest but they are honest and will only recommend what is best for you and they will explain the differences between what is available on the market, the pros and cons and what they think is the best option.Very professional and careful when they are in your home to not make a mess (drop cloths, etc.)
