Description of Work: My two upstairs toilets were flushing very slowly and sometimes not at all. I assumed I had a clog, but when the serviceman investigated, he felt that it was actually calcium build-up clogging the air holes under the rim. He unblocked both toilets for $110 and the job took 30 minutes.

 + 0 moreI scheduled roto-rooter one day in advance. I received a phone call to let me know when the technician was on his way. The technician arrived within the scheduled time frame. He removed his shoes, snaked the drain, and supplied a 'maintenance' drain cleaner. He cleaned up before he left.

 + -1 moreI have used these contractors several times in the past few years and have never had a complaint. They arrived on time and completed the replacement quickly. There have been no problem since the installation and to look at the yard, you would never know they were here.
Description of Work: Roto Rooter removed the old broken and leaking pipe in my front lawn. They dug a thirty foot trench, found the leak and replaced the problem area with a new pipe. They also filled in the trench, raked the area and left it ready to be re-seeded.

AS JOHN WAS LEAVING, HE OFF-HANDEDLY MENTIONED THAT HE HAD WORKED A 10 HOUR DAY AND THAT MINE WAS HIS FINAL CALL; I ONLY MENTION THIS BECAUSE HE WAS SMILING AND UPBEAT THE ENTIRE TIME, SHOWING A HIGH LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM THROUGHOUT. HE LEFT ME HIS BUSINESS CARD, WHICH INCLUDED HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER. HE TOLD ME TO CALL WITH ANY FUTURE QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS. I WAS IMPRESSED BY THE WHOLE OPERATION, FROM THE PHONE REPRESENTATIVES TAKING THE CALLS BUT ESPECIALLY TO THE TECHNICIAN HIMSELF. SOME MIGHT BALK AT THEIR PRICING. IT WAS PERFECTLY REASONABLE TO ME. CONSIDER THE EXPENSE OF CLEANING UP AFTER AN OVERFLOWING COMMODE OR BROKEN SEWER PIPE! I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
Description of Work: TOILET WAS BACKED UP AND WOULD NOT FLUSH. JOHN R. FROM ROTO ROOTER USED AN AUGUR OR SNAKE TO UNCLOG THE BLOCKAGE. HIS TOTAL WORK TIME WAS 5-6 MINUTES.

He gave me options for repairs and prices before starting the work. He also gave me recommendations for the future. I had contacted several other Angie's List plumbers that were unresponsive or scheduling a week out, some never returned my call.

 + 0 moreDon't even think of calling anyone else. I'm a do-it-yourselfer and would have dug up my entire yard rather than pay what some other plumbers wanted to charge me for service on Saturday. Alex from Roto-Rooter was practical, helpful and would not leave until the work was done professionally and thoroughly. Even though I was completely satisfied with his solution and results, he insisted on helping me clean up my own tools that were scattered about. As I understand it, Roto-Rooter is a national company with no franchises. There are no trip charges or premiums for weekend, holiday or 24 hr. service. The labor rates are fair and reasonable and work is guaranteed for six months.
Description of Work: Blocked sewer line caused sewage to fill first floor toilets and bathtubs on a Saturday afternoon. Alex from Roto-Rooter arrived in 30 minutes, sized up the problem and discussed options. First, there is no trip charge to come to your house. For sewer drain blockage, (the name is a hint that they've done this before) they have a flat fee that is far less than others. $229 total vs. $450 total from another plumber that specializes in emergencies. The builder installed the clean-out at the wrong end of the run, so we faced the unpleasant option of releasing the trapped sewage into the crawl space to gain snake (cleaning machine) access to the sewer pipe there. Instead, Alex drilled into the pipe just outside the house, drained the sewage, inserted his pipe cleaning snake and cleared the invasive roots that had grown through a separation in the pipe. After clearing the line much to the relief my family, he explained what needed to be done for a permanent fix.

 + 0 moreThe plumbers who cleared the drain line were great. They were very nice, professional, and patient in explaining to me where the clog was and what our options were to prevent a recurrence. The only problem with this service call was the response time. This was not an emergency, but when I called at 11 a.m. on a Saturday morning, I was told someone would be there within an hour. At 11:30, they called and said the plumber's previous job was taking longer than anticipated, and it would be about an hour until he arrived. After several calls back and forth, the plumbers arrived at 3:30 p.m., 3 1/2 hours after we were initially told they would be there.
Description of Work: They cleaned the main drain line.

He arrived promptly at 9:45 AM and completed the job in about one hour after consulting me on possible problems and replacement costs and alternatives. He showed me the split section and what had caused it. He offered me advice about what to use to replace the pipe eventually and showed me where previous repairs had been made. Roto-rooter had a $25 coupon that I used. In addition, the night before the visit, I had four email communications from the Roto-Rooter office manager, very impressive including since I emailed him only less than an hour before at 9:30 PM! I highly recommend Mike for your repair needs!

The technician took the time to point out all the things that would need to be done to move the heater and bring it up to code. He also put in some extra valves so I can isolate the tank and do some minor work later if needed (like replacing heating element).
Description of Work: Move the location of and replace small water heater in a crawl space. The old water heater was installed many years ago and violated almost all codes.

He diagnosed the problem quickly (and accurately), dealt with it in a reasonable of amount of time, and explained their warranty. He also encouraged to buy a preventive solution. Given that it wasn't really an emergency visit, the charge to visit and clean for $150 was OK but not great for our area, but $50 for the preventive solution seemed a bit high.

He researched the problem, explained the possible solution, and gave me a quote before moving forward. He cleared out a line clog outside with a special method because our system was located in an awkward spot under a deck. We then ran water all over the house and ran the washing machine to make sure system was clear.
