Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I went on RotoRooter's website to schedule the service and was able to select a time window of today between 10:00-12:00.I received an email confirmation and then a phone call at about 10:30 letting me know the service technician was on the way. He (John) arrived about 10 minutes later. I described the problem, he took a quick look under the sink and also checked how water was draining in the sink and from the dishwasher. He then described the possible issues/fixes and costs depending on how clogged/rusted the interior of the disposal was. I suspected the worst because I never really use the disposal. The outcome was neither the best possible or worst possible from a cost perspective but I could see myself that the inside of the disposal was rusted. I decided to opt for a replacement of the disposal. Once the course of action was set, John was able to complete the work in short order. Once done, he checked the draining from the sink and from the dishwasher as well as the operation of the new disposal. With everything working well, he packed up and was on his way. This was a positive experience for me because I was able to easily schedule an appointment, the technician was on time and efficient in completing the work, tested it before leaving and left no mess behind. I also was able to use the $30 off repairs coupon.

My toilet overflowed when I ran the washing machine today (Saturday) around noon. Roto Rooter came out by 3:30 pm and pulled the toilet in order to put a snake down the pipes. They snaked it all the way out to the street where my house connects to the sewer - and successfully cleared whatever the obstruction was. The first plumber called and made arrangements to have a second plumber come out with the camera by the end of the day. He temporarily plugged the hole in the floor and left the toilet off until the plumber with the camera came by. Within 2 hours, the second plumber came out with a camera and looked at the entire line. She found a break in the line where my house connects to the main sewer line. Overall, I was happy with the service provided. They seemed to do a good job. They were knowledgeable and courteous. The second plumber left me with some estimates. ~$5500 to replace my entire line (my pipes are from the 1970s) and to install two "clean outs". Or ~$3500 to install a "clean out" 7 ft deep near the street and another 2.5 ft deep right outside the house. The clean out near the street would enable the city to fix the break at the junction with the main sewer line. The clean out near the house would make it less expensive for the line to be roto-rootered in the future (because they wouldn't have to remove and replace the toilet). The downsides in my opinion were: the cost ($365 seemed steep to me) and the total time involved (from my first phone call to completion of the job took about 7 hours). But, it was Saturday and I was grateful that they came out at all and were able to fix the problem.

I had a whole house stoppage due to roots in the sewage line. This had been a recurring problem which Roto-Rooter had taken care of yearly for me with drain cleaning. This time; however, drain cleaning could not completely clear the line. The problem was an obstruction in the sewar line that did not allow either their camera or line clearing equipment to be pushed down the line all the way to the problem area. This had been an issue before, each year getting worse. Their plumber gave me an estimate to dig up the sewar line 9 feet under my driveway to repair. He wasvery informative and helpful. He had to rent a bulldozer and some shoring equipment as the job required such a deep hole to be dug. The Roto-Rooter plumber was on the jobbringht and early the next morning to make sure the equipment was delivered correctly and the work could start right away. He and another plumber worked non-stop until the line was fixed. Turned out the original construction had used the wrong angle pipe to connect to the city sewar line. The connection had also been made with a rubber gasket instead of metal clamps, so the combination had allowed the connection to loosen over time ad roots to invade the sewar. When the bad connection was removed out came 3-4 feet or thick roots. The Roto-Rooter plumbers made sure they replaced the bad connection with the correct angle pipe and steel materials. They were very careful to fill up the dug up site properly to allow the cement work to repair the driveway to be done right. I was very pleased with Roto-Rooter's professionalism and quality service. Due to the holiday weekend the rental company delayed a few days in picking up their rental equipment. I called Roto-Rooter's main number back about this and was again treated with the same professional, speedy service.

The dispatcher for Roto-Rooter that I talked to was quite cordial, but would Not give me an Hourly Labor Rate or Rough estimate of what it would cost to replace two toilets, with toilets that I had purchased, and replace a faulty water line tap to our frig. Their plumber and a helper arrived two hours late and quite promptly, gave my Wife an "estimate" of $700 for about two hours of work! We just as quickly... dispatched them from our property! ...$700 of Hard-Earned Money to perform what might have taken them 2 hours at the most? My father-in-Law came over and replaced one of the toilets in 45 minutes... and he's an Amateur!

I had new counter tops put in the kitchen and had hired a plumber to install the faucet. He could not figure out how to do it, so we parted ways after three hours. I called Brad at Rotor Rooter at the recommendation of another workman who was at my house at the time. He came the next day and was able to sort through the mess the other plumber had left and do the job well. I feel that 700 is pricey to install a faucet and re-seat a toilet (Toilet was removed because new flooring was put in), but that is the company price.

Unable to keep 2 hr time window. Came next day and repairs resulted in leaking toilet. Returned next day and corrected problems.

Had a sewer backup in my shower on a Saturday morning. The came out by that same afternoon and fixed the issue quickly and for a reasonable price. No extras for weekend work, which I was very happy to hear. As part of that service, they also diagnosed a bigger issue -- that the tree in my yard had crushed the sewer line and the line to the street needed to be replaced. A subsequent visit by another contractor confirmed their diagnosis and their estimate of work. I contracted them to replace the line and add another cleanout closer to the road. They showed up on time and did what they said they would after I had to have the tree removed (sadly). They did the work as they promised and even returned at no cost a few days later to handle an issue with the dirt near the work they performed. Very positive experience.

They are wonderful. They come quickly and are reasonably priced.

Roto Rooter responded very quickly and came out the same day to give me a free estimate. I had a toilet tank that was leaking at the base. I was told that their policy was to attend to leaks in two ways - minor rebuild or major rebuild but the labour for both would end up being very close. He claimed that he could not isolate the leak but later found that it was a bad seal at the base of the tank, which is where it was leaking. Also, the plumber offered me a 20% discount if I got the work done that day. That made me wary because I had not gotten another estimate. In hindsight, I should have. The complete toilet tank kit costs 20 bucks at Lowes. I'm not sure what to make of the price I was charged. I feel that I was taken advantage off because the repair was urgent. The work was performed during regular business hours and he was done in under an hour. They do guarantee their work for 12 months.

Their price was a little high, but they did good work the right way. They came out when they said they would. Also the guys that worked in the yard were great and seemed concerned about our problem. I was pleased with them and their work.

They were very expensive to just re-pipe the entire house and some plumbing works. They were not professional nor did they have much experience. They were not confident of doing the job. I will not use their services in the future.

Roto Rooter was very responsive and sent one of their plumbers (William) to our home that afternoon. William was very professional and evaluated the problem before fixing it. I was given as estimate before the work began, and the final price was actually $50 under the estimate. William did a great job, and I will definitely ask for him again when I need any more work done.

They were fine. They came out, did what they had to do and left. I used the coupon on Angie's list which made it a little bit cheaper. They were professional. I thought their price was too high. I thought they were expensive for what they did. It was one guy and he was probably here for about 40 minutes. They did good work, but their price was too high. I would use them again in the future.

I discussed the problem with the general manager and the head sales rep. They were easy to talk to and sympathetic to my problem. They spent a day or so reviewing the problem with the on-site plumber, as well as reviewing the in-ground video. I then got a message on my phone that advised me that everything has been reviewed, and that they felt that the original work five years ago was not done correctly, and that they would re-do everything at no charge. Man, did that make my day! The next day, several plumbers spent a cold, wet day in the Carolina clay, seven feet down, fixing my problem. Everything works great! This company also let me use my initial $300 towards fixing a 1968 chronically leaking shower. This work has been done as well, and all is good. This company really backed up their work, even after five years. I'm sure this was expensive for them to make it right, but they did it without hesitation.

They did a great job. They had to come out on Thanksgiving. They were on time and were very cordial.

The technician didn’t want to install the pipes and was going to charge extra for the piping, so he only installed the faucets. One year later received another faucet in another room and the plumbing technician found that the previous technician had installed the wrong part to my faucet.

Our experience with them was generally good. They made an appointment with us that they had to cancel and rescheduled a couple of days later due to snow. When they showed up, they were very professional, quick and reasonably priced.

They came out promptly and quickly fixed the problem.

I made an appointment two days in advance and was asked for a two hour window. One hour into the appointment time window, I received a call that said the techs weren't coming today and asking me to reschedule for Monday. I was unimpressed with the woman's explination or professionalism and spoke to the manager, Mike, who gave me the same poor excuses for why a name brand company couldn't make their appointment or make one later the same day or next day. The primary answer was "they were all busy with commercial work." It appears residential services are not as welcome at this company. I received a call from another operator, Shantel, I believe, who called about ten minutes later without realizing someone had already called me and she was sincerely nice and tried to give a better explination, but I was already so turned off from the first operator and manager, I am done. I will find a company who can honor their appointment times or let me know sooner, and who will treat not being able to honor those commitments more seriously. If I had received the second operator first, I likely would have rescheduled my appoitnment, but she seems to be the exception, not the rule, in this company. .Now, I get to spend my Monday looking for a new company to go with.

Hazel came out and looked at our drain issue. She recommend several very useful things to do and a product that should clear up our issues. She was very helpful.

The shower cartridge was a result of a botched home improvement project. Our water had been turned off for half a day on Saturday. I made a morning appointment for Sunday on the Roto-Rooter website. The dispatcher called at the end of the appointment window to tell us that the plumber would be a little late. When John arrived, he gave me an estimate on the work and accepted the Angie's List coupon. He let me know that he may not be able to remove the part, but he'd try his best. After about an hour, he was able to extract the part. He had also installed the replacement part and put the faucet back together for me. Before he left, he gave me his card with his direct number in case there was a problem.

I found the leak in the bathroom and called Roto-Rooter. They came in a couple of hours. The plumber checked the sink identified the cut off as the problem and replaced it this stopped the leak in the bathroom sink. Then I had him take a look at the kitchen sink. He identified this slow leak as the hot water supply line that goes from the cutoff to the faucet. He replaced the pipe and this appeared to have solved the second leak. About a week later I found a puddle under the Kitchen floor. The leak was running under the floor and leaking through the ceiling of the lower level porch. At that point I called another plumber who found and fixed the problem and charged much less than I paid for the "simple" fix. Roto-Rooter has a set fee schedule for each job and no flexibility for time spent or travel to the job. I would not use them again.

John handled both jobs professionally and efficiently and was a joy to work with. In addition, since we had additional work done, Roto Rooter gave us 20% off on the cost of the repair of the shut offs and also accepted Angie's $30 coupon. The toilet is working great and water pressure has been restored in the kitchen!

Overall the experience was great. I went online at 2:30pm on 7/24/10 and was given the options to make an appointment for 8-noon, noon-5pm of 5-8pm any day. I had a chose 8am-noon the next day. I got a confirmation and in that email they narrowed down the window to noon-2:30. The next day I got a call at 1pm saying they were running a little behind and would call me before the plumber headed my way. They called again at 2:15 and he was here by 2:30 (his set time). He came in asked about the problem, I told him my hot water pressure was low, the disposal doesn't work and the dishwasher doesn't drain. He messed with the disposal for a minute, then told me the motor worked, but it was more then a jam and that the unit needed to be replaced. He also told me that fixing the disposal usually will get the dishwasher working. He had a new disposal in the truck and went outside to give me a quote. He explained everything, the cost of the unit, the labor and also that he just needed to fix the inner workings of the faucet to get the pressure working. He did the work, then told me that usually just replacing the faucet "insides" would fix the problem, but that just made the pressure "better" He said after he replaced it, he went back and checked the water line and there was a lot of junk in it. He cleaned out the line and that changed my invoice by like a dollar. Overall I was very pleased with the service. He told me it would take him about 1.5 hours when he first looked at it, it really took him about 2. I'd use them again, despite the price. I think you pay for the convenience of a quick turn around.

I typically call them. They come out and make sure they know what the problem is. They usually don't take long. The last time they sent me a guy who I don't think quite knew what he was doing. I had a problem with that so I talked to them and they resolved it. They were good about it and made sure my account was marked so that he was never sent to my house again. I kept trying to talk to the guy and I was getting nowhere. He went ahead and did what he wanted and was here longer than he should have been. He tried to charge me more than he should have, but I disputed it and they fixed it and refunded some of my money. They promised me he would never be sent to my house again. They resolved it pretty well. I've had them out 3 times and that was the only time I had a problem. One time I called them and they came out on a Sunday. Something had come loose and they didn't have to do anything so the guy left and didn't charge me anything, that's unusual.
