Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They finished the job in thirty minutes. I still had another thirty minutes of time because they get paid by the hour. He asked me if I needed anything else done to make up the hour. Everybody's price was about the same.

Excellent! We were having trouble with our main sewer line backing up and overflowing in our yard. We had previously had another plumbing company out to flush the main line. They did and they ran a camera down the line and told us that there was a root ball growing in the part of the city line that turned up to our house - under the road, not on our property. They suggested we call the city. We did, and the city came out to flush their main line. A month later, when we again had back-up we called the city again. They had only flushed the main line and not the part that turns up to our house. The city came out again and did work. A month later - the same problem. The previous plumber had marked the spot on the street where he saw the root ball, he had also told us that the city requires an access point that was no further than 10 feet into our property from the curb and offered to put one in for us. We waited to see if the city could resolve the issue. The third time we called the city, we were much more insistent about the problem and upset that after the first two visits they had not yet resolved it. This time we asked to speak to a supervisor and were told that we would need to hire our own plumber to be there when the city crew was there and have a camera to show the city crew the location of the root ball. The original plumbing company was unavailable, so we called Roto Rooter. They were able to come and were a great help to us on that day working with the city.This time, the Roto Rooter plumber ran the camera for the city crew to see and he discovered that we ALREADY HAD AN ACCESS POINT about 4 feet from the curb - no need to spend thousands of dollars to put one in as the other company had suggested! It was old and our plumber dug it up and ended up having to break the top off because it was so rusted over. We watched him working and he earned every penny that day!. He replaced the top with a PVC access, and helped the guys from the city figure out the line troubles under the road.As it turned out, the troubles were significant and the city ended up having to tear up part of our street to replace some of the sewer pipes. Roto Rooter was a tremendous help in finally getting the sewer lines on both our private property and the city property repaired.

It was excellent. The service person was extremely professional and arrived promptly, and the price was reasonable. We have used their services many times and each time we have had a good experience. They are always knowledgeable and things are fixed right the first time.

We had some initial issues with the installation but we were contacted by one of the trainers and after explaining what went wrong, he took the opportunity to use the experience as a training exercise. In the end the job was well done, and the initial issues were addressed. Frankly, we all make mistakes, but it is how we deal with them that really makes the difference. I would and do recommend this operation for any of your plumbing needs

This was our 3rd time using roto-rooter and we have been very satisfied each time. They confirm the call via email, respond same day and have been very efficient in performing repairs as needed. In this case, no leak was found so no repair needed. We had them repair a couple of toilets while here. The technician, Desmond, was personable and very competent.

The drainage issue started in the shower stall. I called other two other vendors from my research on Angie's List. One could not schedule a time for me until the following week, but did call back to check on me. The other did not appear to want the business and suggested that I call the city. Finally, I read through several of the reviews on Roto Rooter. I was leary about using a big company, but now I am glad that I did. Scheduling was easily handled on the company website and they were able to come out on the very next day. Based on other experiences recorded for this vendor, the cautionary tale is to be sure the person who arrives on the call is knowledgeable so trained my radar on that. I was fortunate. I was visited by someone named "Stan" and he was excellent. Very professional and courteous. He even answered a question I had unrelated to the issue he was there to solve. This was my first experience needing the services of a plumber for anything, so I was expecting the price to be higher than it was. This does not mean that, comparatively speaking, the price of the service was better or worse than average. I was expecting a charge by the hour. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the company has a standard estimate based on the problem type and my issue was not uncommon. However, I did purchase the maintenance product for $52.00 which is included in the total cost that I quoted for this service review. I waited two days to write this review just in case I needed to call them back. So far, so good. I would definitely call on Roto Rooter again should I need them in the future.

They were punctual, did their job and they were quick.

It went great from start to finish.

They replaced a toilet and placed a camera in the drain pipe which costed me about $500 and spent about $3000 to remove and lay pipes in the backyard. They were responsive and knowledgeable. I will use them again in the future.

Had a major clog in my kitchen drain line that I couldn't clear with my hand-held snake. This was a Friday night. Made an online reservation with Roto-Rooter for the next day. The confirmation said someone would come out between 9-11 in the morning. The next day I got a call around 10:30 saying it would be closer to 11:30. Then I got a call saying it would be 2pm. They finally sent someone to my place by 5pm. I had actually cancelled some plans that day so I could be at home when they came. It would have been nice to know I'd be waiting all day. The technician (David R.) was very courteous, friendly and professional but didn't seem to quite believe me that I had already cleared the line down to the location of the clog about halfway to the main sewer line. He wanted to try plunging from the sink first. After opening the pipe below the house he came back up and said "Well, you were right!" (Thanks). He quoted me $285. for snaking the drain to the main sewer. I felt this was on the high end of fair, but I needed it done already. It would have been nice to be offered a discount for waiting all day, but I did have the $40.-off coupon I printed from the website, so that helped. He made one attempt at snaking the drain and didn't quite get it. He went back down and finally got it. He came up and ran the water for a long time to make sure everything was clear. I appreciated this thoroughness. His cleanup under the house could have been better, but I know it was a mess in that pipe, so it wasn't bad considering. By the way, I was offered a preventative bacterial drain product they sell called Pipe Shield. They wanted to sell me it for $50. I found a similar product online for a fraction of the cost. Summary: I was thankful to have the job done on short notice over a weekend, and done well. I was not impressed with the company's punctuality and I felt slightly overcharged.

Roto-Rooter did a good job. They were on time and their final price was what they quoted.

Overall, the work was good. They were responsive and everything turned out fine.

This was a comedy of errors. Three visits in five days, Two people couldn't do the job or had the wrong information about the job. One person said you could clean a drain like mine with a 90 degree bend. I've never heard that before. They gave me quotes all over the place. The third person who came (after the second promised to return and I took off work early, actually did the job. The second guy never called or showed up. If my experience is an example of the kind of work this company does, avoid them.

It wasn’t the best experience that I’ve ever had. Once the work was done, they did send me an online survey, which I filled out telling them what happened. Within 30 minutes, the manager called me to find out what exactly what happened. The technician did clear up the problem, but in the process he made a mess and marked up my floor. His boots were covered in mud and I had to ask him to put covers on his shoes. Also, while he was doing the work, he needed a bucket, which he expected me to bring to him. I didn’t know as a customer I was responsible for the supplies. If I did use them again, I would make sure that the same serviceman didn’t come out.

Initially I found this company from Angie’s List. This company has been excellent to work with. We’ve used them for everything and recommend them highly!

I called Friday night because anytime I used the shower, laundry, etc the downstairs toilet overflowed. I called Roto Rooter because I needed to get the job done as soon as possible. Roto Rooter came out promptly at 7:00AM. The Plumber, Melvin, was professional and knew what he was doing. We had to cut away shrubs outside to get to the clean out. I helped do that because I've been wanting to remove the shrubs since I moved in 3 years ago. He snaked the drain and then took a video of it to see what caused the problem. Unfortunately there is a bigger issue and about 25 feet of pipe will have to be replaced from the house to the street because there is a belly in the sewer line. The estimate is $2100 and that is if they don't have to hand dig because of power and gas. (There are power and gas lines but hopefully on the other side of the city sewer.) Fortunately the house is 15 years old and I've been here for 3 of them. It went a long time before it became a problem so I can probably wait for a few more months before doing the job. Roto Rooter did not charge me for the video of the drain. Here are the bad parts and why I graded price as a C. I forgot to present my $40 coupon from Angie's List. I called not even a 1/2 hour after I paid the bill and they refused to take the coupon. I was disappointed and it seems to me that they could have done this by just issuing a credit and re-processing the bill. Make sure you have to coupon on the counter top in case you are as frazzled as I was. Second, although I was not charged for the camera I did think $300 was steep for the work done. I probably could have done better with a local company but then I may have been waiting around all day and have to take a shower at the gym. Since it's winter and a cold and rainy day that would have frankly sucked. Last, on Angie's list it is claimed they do not charge extra for night and weekend jobs but the technician did say it would cost a $100 more if he came Friday night. It was late and I really wanted to sleep anyway and 7:00AM was good but I just thought that was odd. I found from calls he was getting that Melvin was working all night on other jobs so I'm glad I didn't challenge Roto Rooter on this and just let it go. It didn't matter to me but it would have been perfectly acceptable to me if Roto Rooter just said that the first available is 7AM. My summation of the job, prompt, courteous, professional plumber; job was done quickly and Melvin explained everything well; my weekend was saved, the cost was high, and the customer (that's me) was happy. Just wish I could get that $40! I would recommend Roto Rooter especially if you need quick, prompt, and courteous service. After all the most important part is that I can flush my toilet and take a shower. Just have your ducks in a row for the billing part.

Horrible, they are very disorganized and when you call you are talking to a call center who are clueless about plumbing (I had to explain multiple times what it meant to connect to county water) and don't even know what service areas they cover.

Roto estimated the arrival between 4:30-6:30 but then called around 5:35 to update me regarding the arrival being closer to 7:30. He arrived around 7:05p.m. I told him that my husband had already snaked the line with no success so agreed to snake it professionally and then use the camera to see exactly what was going on in the line. My dogwood tree has infiltrated the line:(. He went outside to pinpoint the area. He quoted me 1900.00 to return on Monday to manually dig and repair the line. I did not confirm b/c I wanted to get some more estimates. Very professional!

Arrived within an hour. Tried to find ways to cut costs, Very friendly and professional.

They always do a good job. I always call them now when I have any issues. The guys that come out are usually pretty knowledgeable and nice. I have no complaints.

Everytime I used my washer, the water in my toilets would drain. After about 2 weeks, my showers began backing up. I called Roto Rooter and they came out on a Friday night and spent 2 hours trying to go through my clean out in the laundry room. They could not see anything wrong - but knew there was a problem. They returned the next day and pulled up one of my toilets and used a camera to locate the blockage. They were able to locate the blockage and put in a clean out in my yard the same day. Both plumbers were courteous, professional, and very personable. All the work is guaranteed and I haven't had any issues since.

I called them in the morning to see if I could get someone to come out and put a camera down the sewer line. They were able to come out that afternoon and diagnose the problem, so that was good. Then we made arrangements to do the repair. They were supposed to show up one morning but didn't. I called them and they said that they had an emergency and that they should have called me. They finally showed up that afternoon and began the repair. But it started to rain so they had to quit for the day. So I had an open sewer in my lawn over night. Fortunately I could still use the toilets, but they advised me not to flush too much. They returned the next morning to finish. They damaged my water line in the process of digging up the sewer line. This was to be expected because the water and sewer lines were adjacent. They said they would repair the water line at no additional cost. But it took them a long time and about 3 tries to repair the water line during which I had no water in the house. They installed the clean-outs too low. I had to buy some connectors to raise them up to an acceptable level.

We had a problem with water backing up during heavy water usage (washing machine, dishwasher, etc. running), and had tried plunging toilets and snaking lines, both of which failed. We called roto-rooter on monday morning, and they were there at 10.30am. The first guy that showed up quickly assessed that there was actually nothing wrong with our drains and that they didn't need cleaned, and so called his office to get a plumber scheduled. They said they could have one out there by 3.00. He arrived at about 12.30! He went straight to work assessing the root cause of the problem, and soon had figured out that our lift pump which pumps the water from the septic holding tank to the drain field had gone bad. He started calling around to try and find a new part, and was told there was one in Winston-Salem. He drove out there, and discovered it was the wrong one, so he then proceeded to drive back to Burlington to get it there, and then back to our house to install it. Through all this he remained very professional, and never seemed frustrated. I do think the price was a bit steep, but when you consider that the work was all done on the same day, by people with the utmost of professionalism, if we had shopped around I'm not sure when it would have been done.
