Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Great, always quick to respond, explained problems and solutions, professional and got the jobs done. I'm not a good judge of fair pricing, plumbing problems always seem to cost so much but didn't do any comparison shopping.

We were kept informed by the dispatch department when the plumber would arrive. Shortly after the initial call the plumber came for the repair. The plumber, Derrick, was very friendly and professional. The repair was quickly performed to my satisfaction. This was not only a Sunday call out it was Superbowl Sunday. Derrick explained the problem with the faucet how he was going to do the repair. The next time I have a plumbing issue I will request Derrick be sent for the repair.

They had to come out three different times on three different occasions for that same pipe. It went well. The fitting they used didn't last, so they came out again. They didn't charge me. They were pretty prompt and it went well. I'm giving them a B for price because it was a pretty good price. I'm giving them a B for quality, because even though they fixed, it didn't last a year, but luckily it was under warranty.

The technician took pictures of things that needed to be done to my plumbing/sewer lines, as well as showing me the work he did to repair the washing machine drain, and the leak from the kitchen sink. He completely re-plumbed both the sink and the drain for the washing machine. I am highly satisfied with the work done at my home, and would recommend them.

In November 2016, we had a hot water heater in our house that started to leak. We have two hot water heaters in our house and these were the originals installed when the house was built in 1997. I did not have a plumber as a contractor so I went on Angie's List to find a contractor and knowing RotoRooter was a national brand , I thought they would be reliable. I called and they promptly sent out a plumber. When I was given the quote, they quoted me $5800. This quote was to include time of two men and the installation of two hot water heaters. I was shocked with the quote. I asked if they could do better on the price as I felt this was really high and they only provided $150 off. I did some research and found that even the most expense AO Smith water heaters were close to $800-$1000 which was the brand that they were replacing. Being in a desperate situation with our work schedules, we authorized the work. The two plumbers were professional and replaced all the fittings, etc. They installed two Whirlpool 50 gallon heaters. Our hot water heaters were located in the garage. They also replaced the PRV value underneath the house. We felt from the start we were being overcharged but needed to get this work done. Once the heaters were installed, we did not have the appropriate water pressure in our house due to the new PRV being installed. I called back to RotoRooter and asked them to send a plumber back out to fix this issue. They missed their appointment window on the day promised so I called back and asked to speak to a manager. If I was going to pay this much money , I wanted these water heaters to work correctly. I received a call from a manager at RotoRooter. I explained my situation and told him I felt we were overcharged for the services received. He told me he had reviewed our statement and explained we were overcharged by $1000. So he was going to refund that amount to our credit card after he had time to speak with the installers. I also explained the PRV value situation as well. This was a service was determined to be unnecessary and we were refunded an additional $368 to our bill. They also sent out another plumber to correct the water pressure issue. He fixed the issue and was on time. After some additional research on the hot water heaters they installed, we found they did not meet the criteria for the rebate from our local gas company which was disappointing. From my overall experience, I would not recommend this company again. The manager I had my dealings with was professional and tried to make things right but in the end , we still feel that we overpaid for the services we received. I don't mind paying a fair price but no one likes to overpay. I would also recommend that if you do use this company for your plumbing services, ask questions, do some research on the Internet, and do some price shopping with other contractors. Overall after being credited back $1368 to our credit card, I still feel that $2200 per water heater is a very high price for the services rendered.

So far it's fine. They did not put my dryer thing back correctly and hot air blew out into the laundry room until my husband got around fixing it. Everything was fine except that. The pricing seemed awfully stiff to me, considering what little time he was here. They came right away. I didn't deal with them really because of my hip, my son did, but I could hear them.

Called and schedule an appointment @2:30, CS Rep stated they could schedule now, advised that I was @ work. Schedule appt for 3p-4pm that day. Shortly after 3, rec'd call stating that the tech will be late and they would call, it was after 6pm and no call. Called to f/u and was advised they could not get a tech out for another 1 or 1.5, but they will call. Did not receive a call, tech just showed up around 7:30pm and tried to over charge me for the job. Tech stated he did not have the part to fix the sink and that it would cost $205.00 just to go under the sink. He quoted a price of $257.00. When I request a break down of cost, he inflated the price of the parts, I declined the service.

I was told by Roto Rooter that the visual examination of the drain would be free as part of an estimate and they could send someone out that same day within 4 hours to do it. Their staff member showed up 5 hours later and told me he couldn't do the examination because he was not a technician. I wasted a day and cancelled an event for this non-service. It was very unprofessional and let me know that working with a large company like this was a bad idea.

It was very good, they came out right away, we needed it right away and they came out and at the time they promised they were out so that was good so yeah it was well done. They were very good, very professional.

(1) The plumber was professional, knowledgeable, and did a very good job in a short amount of time. The price was outrageous -- $500 to replace two faucets. (2) The two workers who diagnosed my water drainage problem were professional and nice to work with. They were honest and up front. They located an underground drainpipe clogged with roots, cleaned out all other drainpipes, and located a non-functioning sump drain with pump. I was satisfied with their work, but again the price was outrageous -- $1500 for 2-3 hours of cleaning pipes. Yes, I accepted these estimates, but I have some family medical situations that severely limit the time I can spend on house repairs. I simply had to get the work done asap to clear up water leaks and drainage problems. I paid the high prices, but at least my problems are fixed and/or diagnosed. However, in the future I will know not to call Roto Rooter for anything, because I believe that I can easily find competent professionals for much lower prices. UPDATE 4-30-17 After my previous review, I received a call in January from a Roto Rooter local manager. He wanted to know why I was unhappy. I told him that the work was generally good, but that Roto Rooter pricing was outrageous. He asked me what it would take to make me happy. I said that I was unhappy with the price, but that since I had agreed to the estimate up front, I was not asking for anything, but that I would take my business elsewhere in the future. At that point, the manager offered me a $500 refund. He said "I am going to send you $500, and then it is your choice whether or not to update your online reviews." That was the last I ever heard from Roto Rooter -- no refund check, no further calls, nothing. Since January, I have dug up the drainage pipe that Roto Rooter told me was clogged by roots. It turned out that there is no clog -- the pipe is clear and water flows freely. So I wasted several hours doing unnecessary work, because Roto Rooter assumed the pipe was clogged instead of taking the time to find where it emptied. So, the work was not as complete as I originally thought, and the local office made me an offer that they never honored.

The service person, Sergiy, was probably the most courteous, professional and knowledgeable service person we've had for this problem over the last 17 years in this house. He encountered the roots with his probe camera and proceeded to break up and dislodge all the roots and showed us with his camera exactly where the clog was and showed the pipe after it had been totally cleaned out. (Earlier this week we had another plumber (also with A ratings by Angie's List) whose equipment could not handle the roots and the backup occurred within a day and a half of their service call. When we called the other plumber back, they not only would not offer a partial refund, but also tried to sell us on redoing our drain pipes at an exorbitant cost.) Sergiy not only fixed the problem in a very timely manner, he also explained how to prevent, or at least slow down, the growth of the roots. We will definitely call on Roto-Rooter again if/when this problem occurs again.

Stan with Roto-Rooter showed up and was extremely polite and very professional. Wore Booties before coming into the house. Explained exactly what we needed to do and all the steps to follow based on what we find. He located the "Cleanout" pipe on the side of our house and used the cleaning ("rooter") device to move any debris that might be clogged. He determined that the issue is somewhere in the front yard sewer line and so we moved to find the "Cleanout" pipe in the front yard (was hidden under years of grass and dirt, but he was able to find it using a camera placed into the pipe to see the issue". Once we opened the 2nd Cleanout pipe we were able to find the cause, a broken pipe (from ground settling at the sewer pipe/Cleanout pipe junction (about 8 feet down). He was able to remove debris and get water moving again. Will require add'l work (either excavation/repair -or- a "trenchless" option) to repair permanently. Estimated $4200 for excavation repair. I'll shop around for other estimates as this feels high (but could be wrong)

It went great. These were minor fixes. Matt was very helpful and professional. Since they were simple fixes, they charged for just half an hour (although I thought he could have ben here a few minutes more than 30). I used $40 discount coupon for $105 bill which was reduced to just $65. So make sure to use angie's list coupon. Also, if there is a larger project price, they could be pretty pricey. However, I thought they treated me very fairly. I was expecting bill to be higher.

They were okay. They couldn't diagnose the problem with our plumbing system. A challenge was language because we hardly understood each other with the guy that came out. We had some noises and a little bit of water back-up in the shower. They did not charge us. I would consider them again.

I would use them again. I like the technician Hal.

We're pretty well satisfied, we really haven't had any plumbing or heating problems with either of them since that time. We've had some strange things happen to the plumbing like dirt but it comes so it just may be the piping here in Pine Level.

This was an emergency needing repair as I had to shut off the water to my home. Roto-Rooter scheduled and re-scheduled an appointment all day long for the repair, and finally canceled at 10:30 that night. I will never use this company and I advise others to avoid them.

He was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend him to anyone. Cost was also very reasonable as well. This is who I will call for any plumbing needs in the future.

No issues. Very thorough, but very expensive.

Job was completed to satisfaction, but price was too high. Price was presented to sister-in-law and she approved. However, she did not fully understand the ease or difficulty of job. Charge was $302 for replacing two toilet flappers and one toilet handle. Job could have been done by me for less than $25. Lesson learned - to have someone who is familiar with very basic plumbing review proposal and reject if out of line.

It took multiple visits because of waiting for parts to arrive. But the problem was solved

It went well as far as them fixing the problem, but it was a little expensive.
