Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

My kitchen sink stopped draining properly. I tried everything I could on my own with no luck. I called on a Monday evening late (around 7ish) and they said they could send someone out that evening which was great. They were not able to give an estimate over the phone. About an hour later a plumber arrived and estimated that it would be about $300 (!) to snake the kitchen sink. I thought this was really high but there was an Angie's List deal that made it around what I thought it should cost ($150ish). The man worked quickly and fixed my issue within an hour. He was professional and cleaned up well before he left. Overall I was very pleased with the outcome but would not have used them if I had to pay full price.

Our water line was overflowing into the street which included sewage water. The technician explained to me that his mechanical snake would go to the city line. Within minutes, the technician had resolved the problem. He was a pleasure to work with and also let me know that Angie's List had deals for Roto Rooter service. The Roto Rooter technician was prompt, positive, & very courteous, and I would recommend this technician and Roto Rooter to anyone.

Mr Gilmore is an asset to Rotor Rooter, he is a professional in every way. A little late getting to my address because of the location. He shared with me what I had purchased, and the actual cost. It was my first time using a plumbing service and I had no idea of the cost outside of the deal I got on Angies List. He was very cognizant of not tracking outside debris into my home and was most pleasant to communicate with. I would recommend this service to anyone that need professional plumbing service.

I saw the $79 for $250 deal on Angies List for Roto Rooter so I purchased that to get some work done on my bathroom. I initially wanted to change the shower faucets and head and replace a toilet. I was having new tile installed in my bathroom and the tile installers broke the shower drain pipe so I askedRoto Rooter to give me an estimate for that as well. The whole process of contacting and scheduling an appointment with Roto Rooter went off without a hitch. The company was very professional and responsive and was able to get appointments the very next day. My first issue was with the pricing. They appear to have a fixed price for no matter what you ask for and then provide a "discount" to get to a more realistic price. This just doesnt seem very clear and transparent. The plumber estimated the new toilet install at $194. Installing the new shower faucet and head at $194. Repairing the drain pipe at, you guessed it, $194. All 3 seem very different in terms of complexity and time to fix but I was quoted the same rate for each. I decided to go with just the toilet install and drain pipe fix. I mentioned the Angies List deal and the plumber said he was able to get both of those done with the deal (essentially charging $250 for $388 that was initially quoted). However, the plumber took 4 hours to install the toilet and charged another $134 for parts and labor. He said he had an issue with the install which is why it took so long. I went ahead and paid because I needed the work completed but it just left a bad impression on me. And the last issue I have is with overall quality of work. I can't tel if the drain pipe has been fixed properly as I havent completed work on the tile yet. But the toilet was installed a little crooked ( I did take a picture). The bolts going into the floor were a little off AND one of the bolts attaching the tank to the toilet was over tightened making the tank a little crooked as well. The tile installer went ahead and fixed it for me.

The provider arrived punctually and was professionally attired, groomed, neat & clean. He was very customer-focused. Any questions I had about the repair were answered as we went along. I never got the sense that he wanted to "get out of there", in fact, he offered me options on how the job could be done. He remained focused on the task at hand, and worked decisively and dilligently. Customer for life. He diagnosed the problem to be a pinhole leak in the copper supply pipe to the master bathroom toilet. He also determined that the leak was behind the wall and above the subfloor - but never gave me the "this is going to hurt" speech. What I thought was going to be a nighmare price-wise turned out to be no more than he originally estimated. He did not make a mess at all. It was quite frankly one of the best service experiences i've ever had, and I'll never have any other plumber there but John.

The technician arrived about an hour after we called, at about 8:00 at night. There was concern that the routing of the sewer line could damage a backflow preventer previously installed by the City. The technician stayed until the City came, almost an hour later, and consulted with the technician. The technician was then able to get the stoppage removed and the sewer was able to start draining. By this time, it was 11:00 at night, and he set to determine the issue with the sump pump. The water was cloudy and we could not bail the water out of the sump fast enough. He continued to try and work by "feel" with arms in the muddy water. Finally, he got the pump out and determined it needed replacing. He was back the next day, with the pump, a work partner, and the equipment to drain out the sump so he could work. The pump was replaced that afternoon. Plumbing bills always come as a shock, but when you need one who is in a position to shop around. Assuming the cost is reasonable, the commitment to service was excellent and both technicians were concious of doing the jobs right.

My technician was excellent, and the work was completed quickly and cleanup was good. He explained the process and pricing. The one issue I had was that I had purchased a deal on Angie's List for this provider. When he arrived, he told me that because I was on Angie's List, Roto Rooter would give me $250 the work done. I told him I had purchased a deal which gave me $250 worth of work for $79. He said he had no idea how that worked and called his office. They said that it was just the $250 off the work, period. I feel the deal was misleading and that it resulted in me being charged the additional $79.. If I got the $250 off without the deal, then why spend the extra money? As for the work, he not only cleaned the lines, but he explained how each downspout was inter-connected and where they drained as well. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about how to best repair one drain line that had been collapsed by roots. I would use them again, however, I would NOT purchase a deal from Angie's List. Total rip off.

He showed up on time and was very professional. He was very thorough and made sure to clean up after himself. He did an excellent job.

Responded on Christmas eve - worked in the rain until project was complete. Great job, fair price.

Repair to main water line to home, small pinhole leak in front yard. I had already found and dug up yard exposing leak before tech arrived. So can't really rate an A. Tech did cut me a break on price for doing part of work.

If I remember correctly, it was on a Saturday. He came out and left to get some supplies at Lowe's. He came back and had it fixed in about 1 hour. The work seemed to be good, and the plumber knew what he was doing. There was a 1 year warranty on the repair work. The price was a little high I thought, but I was glad to get water back to my house on a Saturday. Good job.

It turned out fine. They did the work that we wanted and cleared the line. They did a fine job. I guess it was more expensive that what I thought it would be but I haven't had anything like that done before so I really didn't know. They came with an estimate at the beginning before they did the work and we knew that we had to have it done.

The appointment set-up between 2-4pm. They call and said the technician was running late and he would be here between 4-6pm. So waited and I called them at 5:45pm because I had a meeting at 7:30pm. They said he was on the way and would be here at 6pm. He did not arrive until 6:15pm. He did had a problem understand English as I did when he spoke English. After he fixed the leak, I asked him where was the leak coming from? He said he was here to just to fix the leak and he did not look to see where it was coming from. The technician was not a nice person and I was not able to go to my meeting. I used Roto Rooter years ago and they were not reliable. They had an A rating so I thought I would give them another try and again they were very disappointing.

Terrible always saying they were on the way and always called to reschedule.

Replaced within 45 minutes.

They called to confirm appt in timely manner. Herbert was here on time and did a great job on repair. We liked him and his work very much.

Gary was very professional and polite. He replaced the inside of the toilet and the handle so we don't have to stand there and hold the handle to flush it.

Stan was very professional and performed his duties excellently. He worked on the situation until it was cleared up. He provided guidence on helping to keep the situation from occuring again or as often. He arrived at the beginning of the window of time the dispatcher set up with us and the dispatcher called to let us know who would be arriving and when. I was very please with Stan and the work he did and will use Roto Rooter again for other plumbing issues,

D.J. showed up within the original time frame window and got to work right away with snaking the main line out of my house to the septic tank. He took his time and ended up snaking it three times (once with a blade attached to get some roots) and made sure all of my toilets would flush properly before he packed up. The voucher I purchased for $79 (worth $250 in plumbing labor) ended up taking care of the entire bill and I was so thankful! It is terrible not having the plumbing working in your house!!! He did take some extra time in educating me on what kind of toilet paper we should be using and recommended the Roto-Rooter clean pipe Commercial Grade solution, which I plan on purchasing at a later date because I did not have the funds today. All in all, D.J. did a terrific and thorough job at my house and I would highly recommend him and his work to anyone!

I thought it was going to be a simple hook my plumbing back up. I had bought a new sink and counter top and needed a plumber to come hook my plumbing system back up. When the service provider came, he said the installers of the sink and counter top had cut the wrong cord and I was going to need to reinstall everything. He told me he has to redo my whole entire kitchen plumbing system. He advised me this would be about 700.00. This was such a big difference than what was quoted to me.

The technician showed up on time. Quickly determined what needed to be done and had the sink up and running within a few hours. Very courteous and professional throughout the visit.

John Armour is great. Our bathtub faucet is dripping. He advised that the part could cost upwards of $100 if he got it for us, but we might be able to get it from the manufacturer. Which we did. For free. He will return to install after the part arrives.

Wanted to charge $384 for 2 simple repairs, Told him I had discount coupon and was not willing to spend over that amount. He went outside and came back and told me he could fix the leak and remove the old pipe from leaky toilet but I would be responsible for replacing the pipe myself. I guess this was ok but seemed like excessive cost for two small items. I'm glad I had the coupon!

Had an Angie's List Coupon for $79 for up to $250 labor. After parts and extra labor the amount I paid over the coupon cost was $95.00 for total cost of $174.00. Very professional plumber Chris came out, extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Diagnosed problem for free, gave me options on what could be done and pricing and immediately set to work. Quick, clean and just plain great service. i would recommend this company. There's a reason they have been around for so long. Anytime you can call and get a plumber to your home within an hour and 1/2 is incredible in itself. Thanks for doing such a professional job. Keep on doing what you have been for all these years.

The service did not turn out too well. The committed time was somewhere between 12:30 and 2:30 and the technician showed up at around 6:30 at night and so I had to wait the whole afternoon. The repair took 3 hours and he completed at 9:30 at night. I kept on calling, trying to find out the status, and they said that they are very busy, and they have other jobs. The bottom line is that I would not recommend them. The technician was fine, the rescheduling was the big issue. They charged me an additional amount for parts and the additional work. I thought the pricing was very high for what they did.
