Unfortunately wasn't able to show up in the 2 hr time slot they had predicted, but the driver had some truck problems, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt there. They had to snake about 20' or so. And successful. They also honored an Angie list coupon, which at first they were not, but decided it was good for the business for them to honor it. As a first time user, I am glad they honored it, especially when I did make the appt, the gal on the phone said it was ok to use the coupon. I would consider using them again. This is a very competitive market. The plumber that was sent was very good plus pleasant. It was nice to see that he truly cared about what he was doing.

 + -1 moreI had researched this vendor before purchasing the Angies list coupon. A plumber came out in short time and gave me a consultation and estimate free of charge. He estimated a 2.5 hour job at $179/hr. Fortunately, for me, I knew someone else that could do all of the work, except for the actual plumber work of splicin- in the line. Then I purchased the coupon. I had all of the work completed that I could without a plumber. The plumber came back to splice-in the water purification system into the house line. I found that the plumber used the full voucher time inefficiently, i.e. instead of time he spent locating the water turn-off at the street, he could have asked me. Also there was an upcharge for extra piping, connectors etc. Basically, the plumber came to my door as the voucher time had expired with an overpriced cost for piping parts and a leak under my house. It was a leak in the water purification system itself, which couldn't have been prevented prior to having water attached to the unit. There seems to be a bottom-line $$$ between this coupon voucher price and the per plumber call.
Description of Work: Cut the water line, crimp the piping, install connectors and re connect to a new home water purification system.

Description of Work: I had 5 visits by Roto-Rooter to fix an issue that was only able to be solved by the great David Hugee (Plumber #839). The problem with a clogged and bubbling toilet started on May 25th before Memorial Day. My first contact did not go well because my phone number was entered incorrectly so that delayed the arrival for the first plumber. Plumber #1 took apart the toilet, ran a snake outside and seemed to clear the clog. I used my coupon and saved myself $180 because the price kept jumping as the job got more complex. A week went by and no issues. Then on June 7th, I had to call a second plumber to come back because the problem came back. Plumber #2 went through the kitchen sink this time to try to solve the issue and it temporarily fixed it. I was also set up with a camera technical to come a week later to make sure the pipes were all clear. Plumber/camera man #3 came on June 14th and ran a camera from the outside into my upstairs pipes and went 20 feet into the home. All appeared clear so no roots or clog to be seen on this path. Fast forward to Sunday, June 29th when I have my family in town and 5 people visiting. The toilet clogs and is ready to overflow and I am mortified. I call for plumber #1 to come back and check but he refuses to do any labor nor check the air vent. Not really his problem and he said call camera man back. I was not happy with his lack of engagement and found it upsetting that he said it could be from a baby diaper thrown in the toilet. I have no children in my house so not sure how he even came up with that theory. Finally, on June 30th the hero David Hugee arrives and after explaining all the details, he knows exactly what to do. The problem is common in Cary and the issue is with the BACKFLOW FLAPPER. My yard was dug up, David and his trainee drilled away and unclogged the problem that has been causing this issue for a month. It took 5 visits what David did in one. I wish he had come to my house on May 25th and I would like you to teach all the team the services Cary to learn from David. Thank you, David!

 + -1 moreThe tech showed up within the expected time and took a look at a couple of issues I had. He told me what I needed to get to fix the first problem (a running toilet); the seal that was leaking isn't regularly found in the big box stores, so I need to call the manufacturer and get the part sent to me. The other problem was a leaking toilet; he removed the toilet and showed me that the flange was sitting too high and the wax ring had completely disintegrated, which was why it was leaking. He replaced the wax ring, reset the toilet, and also replaced the fill valve so the toilet would be quieter and more efficient. He finished everything in less than an hour and a half. Very polite, very professional. Update 7/23/14: The toilet that was fixed has been running on and off several times a day since the fill valve was replaced. The Waste Water Usage portion of my water bill for the month after the problem was fixed was $50, compared to $8 normally; the following month was $24. I have called to schedule another visit so they have an opportunity to correct whatever was done wrong the first time.

 + 0 moreWe had guests in town from England, and it was a Sunday! Couldn't even put water in the sink to wash dishes, let alone use the dishwasher, because the water would back up. My husband, who is very handy, was not able to unclog it. We weren't sure we could even find someone to come out on a Sunday morning, and if we did, expected it to be very expensive. We called Roto Rooter and they sent someone out in 1 hour! Hlei "Lee" was very polite, professional, neat, and worked quickly running cable through the lines and fixed the problem in an hour. Their price with the Angie's List discount was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Roto-Rooter and Hlei.

They came out to replace a leaking water heater that was leaking through two floors of our house (the water heater is in the attic).  + -1 moreCalled because water was pouring from my living room ceiling fan. I called Roto-Rooter around 10 PM, and DJ arrived around 10:30. He was pleasant while troubleshooting the issue. He had to cut the ceiling drywall and after inspecting everything, thought the problem was in the upstairs bathroom. I mentioned another ceiling leak while upstairs, and he went into the attic to check things out before doing anymore drywall cutting. He saw the AC unit was the problem and indicated I needed HVAC help - not plumbing. Although this wasn't a plumbing problem, Roto Rooter was fast and responsive. DJ apologized for cutting the ceiling, and was completely professional despite the late hour. I felt the price was fair for what he did. I would definitely feel comfortable calling Roto Rooter for a "real" plumbing job.

 + -1 moreI bought a Big deal, $79 for $250 of service, which seemed like enough (or nearly enough) for what I needed to have done. Sears had quoted me $119 to install a garbage disposal, so I figured it might be slightly more expensive through a plumbing company but with the Big Deal I'd come out way ahead on both jobs. I didn't imagine it they would charge $275 just to switch out garbage disposals. Same thing on the basket replacement. The plumber was in and out in 1 hour, which is how simple the jobs were! I notice that the price gouging comments seem to come from those that bought the Big Deal. It seems to me the Big Deal is a crock and they have separate pricing for those using the Angie's list deal, because I just find it hard to believe that it could normally cost that much - which now that I'm looking more closely is evidenced by the fact that the "Deal" runs for a full year. If it were a deal, it wouldn't be perpetually offered. All went fine with the installation and he appears to have done a good job (only time will tell), but due to their inflated pricing I don't see using them ever again. I think Angie's List should investigate whether their customers are actually getting a deal vs. bait and switch, mark-up pricing.
