Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Very unprofessional company. I scheduled an appointment within a time frame of 6-8pm on a Monday evening. I had to work around a busy schedule, but was sure to be ready by 6. I waited and waited, nothing. I called around 7:30 to check and was told by a rude dispatcher that my plumber was "out to lunch and would be there after". Around 8:15pm I gave up! I had to leave. They finally called me around 8:30. The dispatcher was annoyed, and completely unapologetic. No apology at all. They had no respect for my time.

He was very prompt & professional. Informed us of all details as he tested, used his camera to determine the problem & explained what we need to do to fix it. He explained that at a later date we would certainly need to schedule a repair but as it requires removing mature bushes suggested ways we could put off until Fall. A more appropriate time to do less damage to plantings. He was very informative.

Service was great. Immediately fixed problem and offered to fix some other smaller plumbing problems while he was there (at no extra charge). Perfect!

The plumber was very courteous, helpful and professional. My concern is more about the "deal". The plumber arrived around 11:30 and completed work around 1:00. The total bill was in excess of $500.00. Subtract the discount of $250 worth of plumbing labor from the Angie's List Big Deal and my total was $79 (for the "deal) plus $179 additional. I think that I could have gotten the same pricing without a "deal" and question whether this really was a value. Again, the plumber was very courteous, professional and helpful. No concern with the customer service -- only the pricing of the "deal".

It went well. He gave us a deal to do both at the same time. One wasn't working, but we figured it was a good idea to get them both fixed.

very well. all works good. so nice to have a disposer again. I liked the professionalism of the plumber. He took the time to explain everything to me including the fact that RR charges by the job not the time.

While they were pleasant, the scheduler didn’t ask the right questions. The plumbing needed to be redone. They let us know they weren’t prepared to do this work. The work needed was more complex. It didn’t work out and my daughter found a different source for work. She is the process of receiving her money back for the Big Deal.

The serviceman made several attempts that didn't solve the problem, but he continued using different equipment and tools until he completely cleared the line. This took several hours but he never gave up. He was cordial, knowledgeable, very professional and hard-working. Also he was a great problem solver. We were impressed as we had already had a plumber and a septic tank man check it out and they had theories no solutions.

I bought 2 vouchers. With the first one, it took vendor 8 hours past schedule to give me an estimate. I had a busted outdoor faucet and they did not want to go under the house to see what was wrong. But quote me a price that was different then what I was told is their standard rate for replacing faucet. They left, I called manager and he sent someone else out to repair. With the 2nd voucher, my husband wanted to have the another outdoor faucet replaced. I called for the appointment and was ensured that I could get an estimate first. Guy came out and he said if isn't broke don't fix it. Well we wanted it replaced as it was 15 years old and a matter of time before it broke. He didn't do it, then wanted to charge me for coming out to do an estimate. I told him that when he first got there that I wanted an estimate (only because of the first replacement I was given several different estimates). And I did not pay him. Just want money back as he did seemed to not really care about replacing it even though that is what we asked for.

The technician concluded there were no leaks. However, I performed a simple food coloring test a few days after his visit and did indeed find that there were leaks in not only 1 but 2 different toilets! They were "silent" leaks. The technician was very nice and on time and had a professional manner, for which I give him an A. However, the technician did not find either one of the 2 leaks, which is what plumbers/plumbing technicians are hired and trained specifically to do. To be fair, I should have performed the food coloring test before even calling the technician to come out. Regardless of this fact, I feel that I did not get good service, so I give RotoRooter a D overall.

I purchased a Roto-Rooter deal for $79 for $250 of labor. No work has started yet. They sent someone out. He was late, short with me, vague about possible solutions to the problems, and did not have the equipment available to investigate my issues. I sent him away and he said they would call to schedule a visit with the truck with the equipment that I needed (inspection camera). 5 days later I was walking out the door and got a call to let me know they were coming in 2 hours. They did not give a heads up of any time so I had to cancel that as well. The quotes he gave were 3X other plumbers so even with the deal I would still be out of pocket more than comparable tradesman in the area. I requested a refund for the deal and will go elsewhere.

I would use the service again in the future. The service man was very polite. I decided to try to perform the repair myself.

They were running late, 8 hours to be exact, and requested adequate lighting for the estimate. They came when it was dark outside and the provider didn't want to go under my house. I had to call the manager and complain, they did send someone else out to do the work. The second gentleman did came out and he did fix the problem. After they did replace it, I had to call back due to the spigot leaking. They did come back out and take care of the problem though. I then bought a second Big Deal to take care of another spigot and the provider told me I didn't need it fixed because it was working, but my husband wanted it replaced due to it being 15 years old and then he tried to charge for an estimate when they offer free estimates.

I was impressed at how responsive everyone was from the time I purchased the Big Deal ($79 for $250 worth of labor) to the time the plumber showed. up. The technician was very friendly. However, I had the feeling like everything was being 'up charged' and quoted on work that was not necessary. I called for 2 issues I am having. I have a leaking toilet that had a bad seal on one of the bolts in the tank. We tried getting the bolt off ourselves but it was stuck and a special tool, we thought, was needed. Plus, my master tub leaks into the first floor from a ceiling vent.. not good. I started to tell him about the tub but he wanted to look at the toilet first. After 5 or so minutes, he was recommending a complete rebuild of the tank with his own fill valve kit all costing $380 with an Angies list discount of $250 and charging me $130. I felt that paying $79+$130 was pretty pricey for such minor work in addition to not needing it. the bolt and seal was the toilet issue, not a new fill valve kit. I know that if we just had the bolt removed, we could fix it ourselves. I told him to just remove the bolt and we'd take care of the rest. He had me sign off on the 'no warranty' for the work and proceeded. When he was done, the tank was taken apart. Not just removed the bolt or bolts, but the tank was on the seat with the water completely disconnected. He did give me some good advice on what to look for in buying seals for the toilet, but never blinked an eye at the tub issue and after feeling like I was being over charged I didn't want him to pursue it anyway. but I don't feel that I got $79 worth of plumbing labor.. much less $250. Before he went to work on removing the bolt and tank, he had warned me about the possibility of the tank breaking and quoted me $610 to replace that. Maybe the Angies list big deals have spoiled me, but I found that a ridiculous 'discount'.

It went terrible! I purchased the $79.00 coupon and called the company before doing so. I explained what need to be done and if the coupon for $79.00 would cover the work - up to $250.00. The person on the phone said yes that would be right round the cost to perform the work. I schedule an appt for 3-5pm and every few hours I received a call stating they are still trying to find a plumber in the area to perform work. At 7:30pm when they called again i told them it was unacceptable to come to my home at that time. They reschedule it for 10-12 on Sat. I then received a call at 7:00am that morning that there is a plumber in the area. The plumber came out and gave me a quote for $800.00 to install two sinks and faucets!! That was way too pricey. What they do is have you purchase that coupon and then inflat their prices. I was able to have the job done with another licensed company that is also listed here on Angie's list for $350.00! I also had a leak in my ceiling downstairs coming from the master shower. I ask him to check that for me and he acted like he didnt want any part of it. He told me to get a dry wall person to cut out the ceiling to determine where the leak was coming from. I called my home owner insurance and they said any reputable plumber / company will cut out the dry wall to find the leak. He did not want any part of it.

It went well. I knew that I would not necessarily use all the funds I purchased, but it came close. I need the work done quickly and it was.

First called this morning to get a plumber out to repair my kitchen faucet. He came out within two hours and looked at the faucet, there was a problem with the faucet that would likely require specific parts from the manufacturer, and he was not confident he could fix it. I made the executive decision to just go ahead and replace the faucet (even though it's only 1 1/2 years old - figured the labor to *try* to fix it would just be money down the drain). Went out, bought one, and called Roto-Rooter again, and again the plumber came out within a couple hours, and thankfully I have a functional faucet and don't have to use paper plates and wash the dishes with the outside hose! I bought the $79 Angie's List Big Deal for $250 of labor - the quote for the work was $295, which I thought was pricey, but with the big deal of $79, it was just an additional $45 - so $124 for same day service was worth it. If I had to pay $295, I would have been more reluctant and would have shopped price.

We made an appointment for the service technician to come between 4:30 and 6:30 pm but even at 8:45pm they had not shown or called to give us a time. We called the dispatcher at that point and they said they did not know when the technician would be available so we rescheduled for the next morning between 8:30 and 9:00am. A very nice technician arrived but wanted us to pay an additional $47 to install a toilet which would take no more than an hour. That means they are asking you to pay $296 for an hour of work. I did call the company and they honored the big deal price and they apologized for the lack of communication. The service technician was excellent but I felt bad for him having to clean up management decisions. I would use this technician again but question the company's price guide.

Purchased a coupon through Angie's List for $79 for $250 worth of Plumbing Labor for Roto-Rooter. Contacted Roto-Rooter to have a plumbing technician sent to our rental property to investigate a garbage disposal that was not working properly. After performing numerous test the plumber informed me that the garbage disposal was tripping the electrical breaker and that the issue was related to something faulty with the electrical system and had nothing to do with the garbage disposal. I took the technician for their word and immediately contacted an electrical contractor. An electrician performed their test of the electrical system and quickly determined that everything was fine and that the fault was with the garbage disposal. After paying $99 to the electrician, I immediately contacted the plumbing technician again and informed him that the electrical system was not preventing the garbage disposal from working. The plumber could not understand how the electrical could not be at fault and said that he would reach out to his supervisor to have him investigate, and that someone would call me. Never heard back from a supervisor, a manager or anyone. My next contact with Roto-Rooter was from a different plumber who was sent to the unit to replace the faulty garbage disposal and charge me an additional $174. In the end, HORRIBLE SERVICE, $352 spent ($79+$99+$174) and hours of my time wasted!!! A class organization would contact me to make arrangements for a refund. I will be waiting.

The tech worked quickly to figure out where the clog was located because several drains in the house had stopped working. He brought in his equipment and worked it an hour or more clearing the drain.

It went well. Satisfied with the service. It would have been much more expensive without the Angie's list coupon.

The service and information was wonderful. The technician was extremely polite and helpful and skilled. He gave us good, honest advice. We would definitely use them again.

The technician was great, but scheduling was way off. He was supposed to arrive between 2-4 and arrived around 7:00. The RR office did call many times to advise me that a tech was coming but was delayed. Still, I ended up spending the whole afternoon sticking around the house waiting for him. I do think that $252 dollars for installation of garbage disposal (not including the cost of the disposal) is too high. Fortunately I had purchased the Big Deal so it cost me considerably less.

Punctual and quick to get an appointment. Had clogged drain at rental house and got that resolved, no problems since. Technician also mentioned small leak around drain. Wanted another $275- to install sink drain plus parts. Way too expensive, went to Home Depot and bought the part for $15- plus an hour of my time to screw it and lock it down with some plumbers putty. Responsive, but costlier than most. Other discounts do not apply if you already purchased Angies List deal.
