Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

thI thought the leaky toilet tank would be a fairly simple repair that I could do myself....with the assistance of a youtube video or two and a parts kit from Home Depot. Yes, it was fairly simple to do, except that I did not know how easy it was to actually crack the porcelain tank when tightening the screws which attach the tank to the toilet. It was apparent that I had failed the repair when water was leakikng as much or more than when I started the repair! So...time to call the professionals! I purchased a $79/for $250 services from Roto Rooter...they were very responsive...call quickly to schedule the service...and communicated all along the way. I met John at the property and he identified the crack in the tank. (Up until that point, I had thought I just had not been able to repair it...not that I had cracked the tank!)...He suggested that it could be very difficult to find a replacement tank that would fit this particular toilet and so he suggested replacing the whole toilet. At this point, it looked I would be paying $200-$300 for a new toilet plus the $79 labor "coupon" that I had purchased which should cover the labor to install the new toilet. So John the plumber left and gave me his cell number so I could call/text when I had the new toilet and he would come and install it. Not wanting to give up on replacing only the tank...I found the toilet manufacturer name and looked up their contact info online...and contacted them to see if I could procure a tank that would work. Using the numbers carved into the back of the toilet tank...the gentleman from the manufacturing company was able to say that yes, they still manufacture that tank and he advised me who the distributor was in my area....bottom line, I was able to get a new toilet tank about a week later for approximately $30...and then I alerted John that I had it and he arranged to come back and install it...which he did...and, problem solved. John was an excellent communicator and impressed me with his ability and manner and I would definitely request him again if I have future plumbing issues. The $79 deal got me to try them and John will be the reason I will use them again.

Toilet had a slow leak so requested rebuild. The tank bolts were rusted so much that plumber was afraid he may have cracked the tank. So off to purchase new toilet, which was install a few days later. Coupon was applied without any problem so the install cost was reasonable.

Service was great. David was very courteous and professional. He did a quality job. Even sent pics from Lowes of faucets that I could choose from. Appreciated his help and consideration. He even called back the next day to ensure everything was working properly. Excellent service like this is hard to fine these days. I will be calling him again. Thanks David!

I like them because they have 24 hour call service and they can even diagnose the problem and even give you some feedback on the phone itself without having to come to your house. They are very timely and honest. They provide weekend services without charging anything extra. They are a little bit pricey.

Christopher came out to my house just about 2 hours after I purchased the deal. He readjusted my toilets which were loose from a previous job done by someone else. He also cleaned my sink. he informed me what he was doing, what the problem was every step in the process. He is very professional, very nice to talk to and keeps excellent service going. I was very pleased what he did and how he did it. I will always go back to him if I have another problem regarding plumbing. I know it will be fixed fast and competent!

I actually ended up not using their services at the time because they said it wasn’t a plumbing issue.

Everything went great, He was on time, showed me the problem within 30 minutes. He asked me what price range I wanted, went to the hardware store and got it and installed it. It works fine and I was very pleased.

I scheduled on line. Received a confirmation email. The day of service I received a call 30 mins prior to the begining of my 2 hour window to confirming the technicians arrival within the hour. Eddie (technician) was there as promised. He worked several hours to get the job done. Showed me what was in the pipes preventing the water draining. He was great. I would recommend highly.

The technician was responsive and professional. The work was completed to our full satisfaction and they honored the Angie's List discount for their services.

Only concern was no phone call prior to arrival. Other than that issue Desmond was very courteous, professional and a great representative. After finishing Desmond showed my what tool to buy to free future disposal jams and where the reset button was on the disposal unit. I was instructed on what to do if disposal jams again. Special enzyme drain cleaner provided was a bit "pricey" at $59.07

Excellent service at discounted rate with coupon. However, regular price for visit may be too high. If I need service again, I will compare rates.

I've had a lot of experience with them. I liked them very much. My neighbor across the street had the same problem and their company couldn't find it. We have old houses that were built before the war. They found it right away with their equipment. They dug it up and put it down. These were pipes that were almost paper so they had rotted under the trees. We were back in business within 1 1/2 days. I just loved them. The price was fair but it shocked me to death. There were 2 Russian guys and they were just great.

The service tech showed up on time and was pleasant. However, I purchased a $79.00 voucher from Angie's List for $240.00 worth of plumbing. I needed four drains to be cleaned out, I was told that it would cover only labor and I would be fine. When tech came to our home he instructed us that one drain is $350.00 to clean/rotor out and the other drains would be 50% off that price, he was willing to work with us. So in fact my coupon was pretty much worthless. At any rate, he opened the drain to discover a clog and wanted $350.00 for it to be cleared, my husband got a metal "snake" for clearing clogs and did it himself. We then purchased drain cleaner from him and poured it down the other drains. We were NOT paying that fee, by the way a license plumber would NOT charge that fee. The only thin ROTO-Rooter clears out is your wallet. Each tech is paid on commission and they can each have their own pricing...that's what I was informed by the service tech. NO SET PRICES. BEWARE!! These coupons NEVER work for me, thought Angie's list would have been better..learned my lesson. We ended up getting the $79.00 voucher and charged for material we purchased. My husband cleared the clog and sink is working fine. By the way, the fee for hourly rate well exceeded any other plumber's rate we had to our house. Will NEVER call them again.

Arrived somewhat later than expected but w/in parameters of their projection. Service person in uniform, very personable and efficient.

Technician arrived promptly. I had looked at prices for comparable services and saw that approximately $119 for the low to $200 for the high. I expected pricing to fall within this range with this company as well when I agreed for this company to complete the repair. However, when I asked the tech the cost for providing this service upon his arrival, he stated 305.00. I informed the guy that this price was a deal breaker and asked could he do better to which he responded "no." After more conversation, he said he could give a forty dollar break. We were about to accept that quote until I checked Angie's list again and saw that this company was offering a $79.00 dollar coupon for plumbing services. I asked if we could apply this coupon today and he said yes. I had told him I was an Angie's list member and he never once recommended the coupon until I remembered I had seen a discount coupon on line for some company and revisited the Angie's List website. He did fix the problem with my pipe and had a nice disposition, but I think the pricing is off and and I would have been ripped off had I not circled back. I think the coupon is a teaser to rope you in and then the prices are set above everyone else's so the coupon is really not a deal. This is a sign of bad integrity to me.

The serviceman came on time and did the job in a timely manner. I was very happy with their service i paid their fee. I thought $194 sounded like a lot for a 10 minute job so i called a few other companies on the Water company's approved plumber list. Most other companies i contacted were charging 35-50 dollars for an annual backflow test. Roto Rooter charged me $194 dollars!! I called Roto Rooter and I asked why are they so much more and they said because those other companies are all just mom and pop companies and we are a professional company. If you need an annual backflow test, I would call someone else on the list. Very Unhappy!

Requested an appointment by 8am, was contacted within an hour or two and appointment was scheduled for that afternoon. Technician arrived a little bit (~15 minutes) after the stated arrival time. He was professional and took care in diagnosing and explaining the problem. I had purchased the Angie's list deal of $250 plumbing for $79, and I was glad I did as their pricing was much higher than expected. If I have another need for a plumber then I will probably try to get a second quote. The technician did provide a written estimate before performing the work, but it was unclear how the price was calculated. Their pricing is not based on labor hours but rather fixed prices for different types of work, it seems. I can see the advantage of paying more for Roto Rooter in some cases since they seem to respond fast so they would be good for urgent plumbing jobs where you'd rather pay more to get it done quickly. Overall, I'm satisfied that the job got done quickly and professionally.

They were very prompt and they did their work. I would definitely recommend them. They were very professional. They did what they needed to do. They gave me quote for what was above and beyond of what the cost was and that is the original Angie’s List deal. Then I was able to make a decision whether I wanted to go with them or not. I would use them again in the future specially if they have another deal.

It turned out well. There were no additional charges. There was another problem so that visit that I used them for, they discovered a different problem. I did have another charge for the other problem. They discovered that the main drain line was broken. They had to come back and dig up to repair the main line. The best part was that they explained everything as they were doing it. They showed it to me. They had a camera. As the technician was doing the work, he was explaining everything that he was doing. It was a cold day but he gave me the option of coming out. It was great that he wanted me to see it for myself for what the problem was. I definitely would recommend them. The technician was very good at explaining exactly what he was doing. I did have problems when I was trying to schedule the follow-up service. It's a big company so it depends on the technician you get. That's the drawback to it.
