Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

No one wants to call a plumber on a Sunday morning but we had a major plumbing back up. Roto Rooter was responsive immediately and scheduled an appt for us by 12:30pm that day. The service provider that came was attentive and explained the options for how he could address our plumbing issue. We live in a house that is over 100 years old he spent close to 4 hours in the crawl space of our home trying to determine where the clogged pipe was. The provider had incredible endurance to keep at it after several attempts of not being able to resolve the issue. He was determined to fix the problem and ultimately he did. All along he continued to update us and kept us in the loop with the outcomes. He was extremely polite and maintained a great level of professionalism. Roto Rooter should be proud to have him as an employee; his name was Carlos. Hard working, dedicated and went above and beyond to ensure the work was complete and done professionally.

My disposal was clogged up and I was having company. I called the company to get immediate service. I was shocked at the price but was over a barrel at that point. The job took about 30 minutes, but the price was too high.

Couldn't have gone better. I think it was John that came to my house but I'm not sure. We bought this deal because a prior plumber (FASCO) had installed a new water heater for us and left before we realized the hot water line into the kitchen seemed to be blocked. We tried to get them out for several days before they told us that it was a coincidence and not related to their install. They offered to come back out for a fee but I figured why would I incur a fee with a plumber that isn't accountable for their mistakes. So, I got this deal and was glad that I did. He diagnosed the problem in a hurry (confirmed it was related to the installed water heater), repaired it, and told us some useful information in the process. couldn't have gone better. Hire with confidence!

I had two estimates of over $2000 to dig up the drainage pipes and replace them with PVC pipes, but it would have entailed digging up a brick walkway in front of the house. The appointment was made on-line and they showed up within their 2 hour window. I had expected an estimate for work to be done, but they went right to work on what they thought would solve the issue. Roto-Rooter suggested snaking out the corregated black pipes first to see if that would help and it did! They dug out the end of the pipe and removed the part that had collapsed, digging a new trench at the end. I just have to add a little gravel at the end to prevent erosion and we're good. I was so pleased to have saved all that $ and was glad it could be done in one trip.

The work was done at a rental property. Roto-Rooter were very responsive and easy to deal with. They coordinated the appointment with my tenant, so I didn't even have to go there. They called me with the estimate, which was quite reasonable. They were punctual and did the job quickly.

I have Roto Rooter coming for the 3rd time today for yet another project.

Over the past year I've had to call Roto Rooter 4 separate times for the same issue. And instead of fixing the problem, they provided band aid solutions. They cleaned out the pump, and told me to stop putting grease down my drain -- of which I do not do! The nightmare with this company began a year ago. I made an appointment when my sewage pump alarm went off. They stated they would be at my house between noon and 3pm. However at 2pm, they called and said they were behind and wouldn't be at my house until closer to 5pm. Then they called back and said they would be to my house by 7pm because they were backed up. Then they called and said they would be to my house closer to 9pm. It was at this time that I canceled. I called the next day to reschedule. When they finally came out, the guy didn't do much, and told me I was probably going to need a new pump soon. That was $250! So a week later the alarm went off again. Another guy came out and cleaned the pump. He was great! Very nice and professional. He informed me I wouldn't need a new pump and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the pump, it was the grease that looked very old, probably from the previous owners. So he gave me some stuff to put down the drain monthly. Besides paying for the bottle of stuff, there was no charge (thank goodness). The pump worked great for a few months and then the alarm went off again. I called Roto Rooter and they came out with a guy who was out there a long time clearing the clog. That was another $250! Then about 3 months later the alarm went off a 4th time, and yet again, I had to have someone come out. I couldn't be home for that, so my mom was there. He was super rude to her and told her to tell me to stop putting grease down the drain. And of course that was another $250! I'm am beside myself and have decided to go with a local company from this point forward for all of the plumbing needs. I do not recommend Roto Rooter at all for anything, ever!

The technician was excellent. I have no complaints about him or the service he provided. My issue is that our appointment was to be between 1:15 and 3:15. At 3:30 I called and they said they were waiting for a technician to become available. Same story at 5:00. At 8:00 they called to say a technician was on the way. At 8:30 I called. They told me he was 3 1/2 miles away. 8:45 he arrived. Again, the technician himself was excellent. The waiting is just not a good customer experience.

It didn't turn out very well. They came out to the house and gave me the estimate. I told them that I couldn't do that. They gave me a discount on everything, but it was to high. The sink cost me $200 and I didn't want to pay three times that to get it installed. When I ordered the big deal they didn't tell me what their fee was going to be. If I had known it I wouldn't have even had them come out. If they had charged me their regular charge, it would have been over $1000. They didn't do anything. I would not use them. Their price was ridiculous. They showed up and were professional.

My backyard has a number of French drains that flow into a series of 6" drainage pipes (corrugated plastic) that were installed in my backyard 13 years ago. The gutters on my house are also tied into these drainage pipes. The drainage pipes go underneath the ground, around the house and into two 4" drainage pipes that empty into the street. For the past few years, when there has been a heavy rain, the water has overwhelmed the drainage system in the backyard and the water has sometimes overflowed the cache basins and gone underneath the house. I should note that of two 4" drains running into the street, I had noticed that one of the drains was blocked (no drainage) and the other had only a little drainage. When I discussed this with a foundation specialist, he suggested that I should contact Roto-rooter to get an estimate on unclogging the drainage pipes before considering installing an expensive ($4,000), French drain underneath the crawl space. I called on Thursday and talked to a live receptionist who was both pleasant and professional in her approach. She asked what the problem was and set me up with a technician. He quickly analyzed my problem and sent out a specialist the next day. On Friday, Mr. Su Yang (the specialist) went over the problems I was having. He told me that he would send a camera up both drains to see if and where a blockage existed and then would attempt to use a high pressure water hose to blow out the blockage and clean the line. He gave me a price quote on the cost of using the specialized equipment (around $200 an hour) which included the cost of labor and materials. Mr. Yang had along with him a new trainee, Mr. Sanoj Shakya so I had the advantage of watching Mr. Yang explain in detail what he was doing. Mr. Yang first sent the camera up the pipes. He showed me (and his trainee) where roots had penetrated through the seals of the corrugated pipe. In both pipes, he reached a point where the camera could not proceed. He then used the high pressure hose to cut away the roots and clean out the pipes. On one of the pipes, the hose could not continue indicating a total blockage. Using sonar equipment, Mr. Yang showed Mr. Shakya how to locate exactly where the blockage was and then they dug up the pipe by hand. When they cut away the blocked area, I was amazed that the entire pipe was completely filled with mud, leaves, roots and debris. No wonder I was getting no drainage. Once they were done, they restored the area where they dug back to its original condition and added a T pipe so that any future cleaning of the once-blocked pipe could be facilitated. In another area of the pipe, Mr. Yang used the power hose to blast away several blocked areas and cut away the numerous roots that had grown in the pipe. With a little extra effort on his part using the power hose, he saved me the time and expense of him digging up other sections of the pipe that were clogged. He did this for all of the drainage pipes in the yard. It took him and Mr. Shakya approximately 5-6 hours to do all of this work including digging carefully around the blockage, cutting away the bad section and replacing it. I am extremely satisfied with the work that was done and am glad that I spent the money (around $1,500) to get this matter resolved. I usually do anything around the yard but after watching Mr. Yang, I know I could not have done this type of work successfully. This problem required specialized equipment (in-ground camera plus a super high pressure hose). In comparison, the cost of installing a French drain under the house would have been approximately three times more expensive, and I still would have had the problem of the blocked drainage lines. I am extremely hopeful that my backyard water problems have been resolved. I would recommend that if anyone has a similar problem where their backyards are being flooded as a result of poor drainage, call Roto-rooter for an estimate.

Plumber was at my house less than an hour after I called, gave me a quote, and did the work immediately. I could not have been more pleased with their responsiveness. I had 2 other plumbing companies look at the job, who didn't even return to me with a quote. I assume it was because the job was so dirty and nasty. Narrow crawlspace and stinky, foul graywater that had been leaking and standing for some time. I appreciated someone doing the work at all, much less taking it on in such a timely manner and with such a positive attitude.

My appointment was for 8:00 a.m. and the servicemen arrived at 7:34 a.m. which was great because I had to go to work. They were very professional, courteous and friendly. I had a coupon for $79 for $250 worth of work, so the cost of the work was less than I would have paid elsewhere. I would use Roto-Rooter again if I had a coupon.

It was great! Surgee was so knowledgable and nice! He walked us out to show us the problem and really explained why it was happening! It was a great experience and I would (and have) been recommending these guys for all your plumbing needs now!

The service was very professional and prompt. The service rep was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall this was a great experience!

The drain line was clogged, resulting in backed up water. The repairman spent about 2.5 hours tracking down the source of the clog and removing it.

I promptly escorted him out of the house!!!!!! I called Angies' list to request a refund and after that was easily taken care of she followed up with a referral that took care of the drains for $80.
