We chose Barbares among 5 different estimates of which theirs was the lowest that had any positive ratings. Since our driveway is on a steep incline and winds up to the house it was not an easy job and required careful planning. We also needed some re-grading since the old driveway caused our car to scrape on the road at the bottom of the driveway. They were absolutely courteous, on time, and with the only caveat that after 2 weeks we can't judge how long this driveway will last, did an absolutely outstanding job. It looks very good, Ron Barbares did a great job leading up to the project and also in explaining what we would need to look for to maintain it. On all accounts we can highly recommend this company!

They did a great job. They were very helpful with suggestions, had creative concrete, did a nice job, and cleaned up after themselves.

This was a fantastic experience - quickly came out to quote, explained process, showed up on time, performed work as promised and left the site clean. Slight damage to the house and Ron called me and has offered to pay for repair. I did not have to point it to him - he pointed it out to me.

I contacted Mr. Barbares based on his good reviews. This company was very easy to work with. We asked for a quote for an extra driveway pad to be poured next to our existing driveway. The ONLY downside to this company is that Mr. Barbares is pretty busy, so communication may be hard to sync up, sometimes. You don't get a receptionist, staff and instead always leave him a message on his cell directly. He does call you back the same day, however, he called after 9 pm two times. We asked for a quote, and that was arranged a little last minute for when he was in the area (he called that same day and said he'd be by), but it worked out schedule wise. That said, they gave us a quote for 30% less than other companies, with the same materials. He explained to me and taught me about concrete, of which I know nothing, which I appreciated. He scheduled us in a week after I told him we got our HOA approval, and finished the job in one day. They were right on with their quote. We are happy so far with the job they did and the price we paid.

They exceeded all of our expectations. They were out within days for the quote and gave us some new ideas in the process. We scheduled the work and they were in constant contact to let us know what was happening. They were ready to start before we were! The day of the work, the crew was on time and they were very professional. In fact they were shorted by the concrete supplier and they knocked off money as a result, how's that for honesty! The area was left neat and clean and the job looks fantastic. I have no idea if the price was good or bad but I know the experience and the quality was outstanding so I feel that I got a great deal. I never decide on a contractor based on price because I learned that lesson long ago. I make my decisions based on quality and reputation and I would like to add to the list of customers who can validate the professionalism and quality of this firm.

Our old asphalt driveway was in need of replacement. It and the concrete walkway also had issues with water accumulation after rain. We also wanted the length extended to tie in with the slab at the side door of our house. Ron Barbare gave us a very prompt and attractive estimate that included not only the major work -- replacing the driveway and walkway -- but also fixing some bad patches of concrete. We also decided to increase the width of the driveway after the initial estimate and Ron gave us a verbal adjustment over the phone that was very fair. His word was good on the verbal adjustment. The new driveway is graded to allow the water to flow where it needs to, commensurate with the lay of our property. The new sidewalk is higher than the old and also graded to allow water to run off. Ron was very helpful and cooperative and coordinated with our fence contractor to allow un-concreted space for placement of the 6x6 posts for the two gates. The driveway had to go in first, then the fence. Ron was present and in charge on both days of the project. The new driveway and walkway look great and have improved the overall appearance of our house. The surface has a "picture frame finish" that also adds to the appearance. We are very pleased with the outcome of this project. One caution: do not let the workers clean the wet concrete from their tools where it can harden and cause problems. I have several small places on my lawn where I had to remove a thin layer of hardened concrete. I had the same problem with the fence contractor.

I received several estimates for the work mentioned above. Barbare's was not the cheapest contractor, but I've learned that you get what you pay for. Ron was very helpful and taught me a lot about some of the issues associated with my project. My site was having a bunch of other work done, and the grading seemed like it may be a problem. He visited the site a number of times due to this to ensure that he could perform the work and help resolve a grading problem. Barbare's states up front that they use commercial grade 4000 PSI concrete as their base specification. This was good since I didn't want to play the game of having to specify something greater than 2500 PSI, ensuring fibers were mixed in, etc. His quoted price was the price you paid. There was no variable pricing or baiting and switching throughout the project. He estimated the project accurately, did the work, and you were billed the quoted price. I rated his responsiveness a "B", not because he doesn't return calls or is not responsive, he is just very busy. It may take him a day to call you back, but he does call you back. You may have to wait to get on his schedule. This is good, since in my experience the really good contractors are in high demand. I am extremely satisfied with how this project turned out. I recommend Barbare's Concrete very highly! (I only wish more of the construction trades had people like Ron working in them.)

There was a mix up somehow with the date & time he was supposed to come to give the estimate, but he came today 8/13/10. The price was one of the best so far & he was very proffesional & helpful with suggestions.

They were very good. They were relatively inexpensive and did not have any problems with them.

We're very happy with it so far and don't anticipate any problems.

IT went well. He gave an estimate of approx. $500.00 over phone, came out the next morning as promised, explained all the reasons why cost would be higher at 650, did the job immediately as needed-ensured that the pad would not be destroyed by the upcoming cold weather and clearly knew his job well. Was not in a rush to collect the money either..

I did not find this company thru Angie's List, but was referred by a contractor on Angie's list.His price was almost half an much total as several other companies I received quotes for. One of the higher company quotes came from Angie's list.
