Eric gave us a quote a couple of days after inquired. He was prompt, polite and very knowledgeable. He told me they were in Raleigh and his quote may be higher than some because they had to bring their equipment to Chapel Hill. We received one other quote and Barbares was less by about $1,000. He said they had quite a back-up of jobs and it would be two months before they could do our driveway. Eric called us two days before arriving to confirm the replacement. The 6-7 workers showed up with their equipment and vehicles. They were extremely efficient and it was obvious they knew what they were doing. The cutting and removal was dusty, but we expected that. It was a pleasure seeing a team of workers that were dedicated to their craft. We hired this company based solely on Angie's List reviews. We were not disappointed. New driveway looks great. It is a family business and they have over 25 years perfecting their craft.

Large sections of my driveways needed replacement due to tree root damage. Some sections were raised several inches. One section was extremely cracked. The crew arrived right on time and went to work removing the damaged concrete and roots. They prepared the ground ready to pour the new concrete the next day. The second day, all the concrete was poured and finished. Suggestions were made during the estimate and actual work to improve the drainage of the new concrete. These suggestions on drainage was just what I was looking for. There estimate was not the lowest or highest but after talking with Ron, I knew he was the man for me. This was an excellent job.

They did a superior job! I would highly recommend them to any one!

Ron managed the job himself and everything went perfectly. The new driveway extension looks great and slopes exactly same as existing driveway. Ron's team did a great job completing the project in half a day. It looks great and we are very pleased. I would highly recommend them.

I've seen enough concrete work in my professional life to make me fussy about the finished product I expect, even in a small repair job. I relied on Angie's List to provide candidates and it was Eric Bolay's phone attitude and his first visit professional impression that told me to look no further. His original price estimate was a little less than the not-to-exceed $$ in my head, The weather has been iffy for several weeks. Over that time Eric acted responsibly in phoning and re-phoning us to work the weather events, our personal schedules (which are complicated by health issues), and his crew's availability to get the two projects done. The original plan was to treat the two projects separately to accommodate our personal schedule. The original plan was to be bag-concrete-mixed-in-place due to the small amount required for each. Eric phoned a couple of times when the weather and he were ready but we had conflicting personal events away from home. On the first occasion that everything lined up, Eric said he thought that he and Jose could accomplish both jobs on the same day and try to get a small load of truck delivered concrete instead on bag mix, the former being a superior product. Eric worked physically on the project with Jose, intermingled with Eric's phone calls to concrete mix delivery companies until Eric got a delivery arranged. The final result is a superior grade of concrete with some, but not too much additional cost on our end.There will be a couple of other small projects around here and I will look no further than Barbares Concrete.

In short it went great. This company is very professional, respectful and on-time. I would not hesitate to use them again. It all started with needed to build a storage shed to get my motorcycle out of the rain. I'll not go into any detail on that subject but suffice it to say we ended up deciding we wanted a 12'x12' shed constructed with access to the driveway. After thinking about how much weight we were going to put in the shed we decided to have a concrete slab poured for it and if we were going to have to get that done we might as well have the driveway fixed while we were at it. I started off here on Angie's List and pulled 3 contractors and obtained one recommendation from the shed company. I was surprised by the amount of time it actually took to get quotes from the four different people. I think it ended up being something like 6 weeks. R J Barbares was the second company we talked to which meant it was the full 6 weeks before I could call and tell them we wanted them to do the job. Oh I almost forgot. They were the second cheapest quote we got and they were only $50 more expensive than the cheapest company. Let me stop here and make two points. Once I contacted them to get the quote they were at the house within a couple of days to look at the project. Which was unlike other companies I called. The second is the quote they gave me for doing the job was good for 21 days. Since I had passed that point I didn't know what to expect, but when I talked to the owner who called me back the day I called him, something he did every time I left a message, he said that since they had not seen an increase in cost he would honor the quote. Big plus in my book. So I get put on the list, and told it will be about four to five weeks. Not a big deal, but can not wait to get get rolling. Here is where mother nature comes in and we get a ton of rain. At no fault to R J Barbares my four to five weeks turn into more like nine. I only include this here as information and to say that I would call every other Friday to see where I was on the list and that day the owner would call me back and tell me where I was on the list and how many business days they thought it would be before they got to me. I finally get a call on Monday telling me that they would be there on Thursday at 8 am to start work. Well I don't know about everyone else but I took that 8 am start time with a grain of salt. I and the wife arranged to be home Thursday morning and hoped that we would not have any rain. Sure enough Thursday at 8 am the owner, his son-in-law and the whole crew are there. We do a quick walk-through of what we want done. They assured me that they could do what I wanted and if not they would be back to fix the driveway entrance at no additional cost; They were then off to start working on the project. The first day was a little surprising for both parties. When they were doing the quote they had not included the removal and replacement of one section. They felt that it was their fault that it was not included in the original quote and that if we wanted it done they would only charge half the cost. Sounded very reasonable and we told them to go for it. The second surprise came when they started pulling up the concrete. Normally you see driveway concrete poured about 4 inches thick. Our driveway was anywhere from 12" to 18" thick. In my way of looking at things this could be considered an unexpected occurrence or unknown factor which could have let R J Barbares charge me more money for the project. But they didn't ,they stayed with their quote and absorbed the excess disposal fee and labor cost. To end the story the driveway looks great. I can get my car in without any problems. The water no longer pools at the side door and the pad is perfect. One last thing. Over the weekend we thought their might be a problem with drainage at the pad. We told them about it on Monday and when they came out to pickup the forms they took a look at it and made some adjustments. Totally great service.

Eric showed up on time on a Saturday and was a great communicator. Would definitely use them again.

Mr. Barbare was extremely professional and returned phone calls promptly, scheduled service quickly, and generally was exceptional to work with. This was a much smaller job than they usually take on, but they happened to have a free slot. We really appreciated his hard work and his efficient crew. They left our space clean and worked quickly. If I could give better than an A+, I would as we called many providers trying to line up this job before working with Mr. Barbare.

They replied to my request for an estimate immediately, and they sent someone to my house the same week to provide an estimate. Their estimate was reasonable and fair, and they scheduled the replacement of my driveway immediately. They had a back-log of jobs, but they came to replace my driveway 5 weeks after I accepted their estimate. They contacted me a few days before the job to finalize the schedule. The owner himself came to the job site to oversee the removal of my old driveway and the re-pouring of my new driveway. The crew was prompt, courteous, and extremely professional. I recommend R J Barbares Concrete Company to anyone that needs removal/replacement of their existing concrete driveway.

First, we are very happy with how our patio turned out. Our biggest complaint was that we had a hard time contacting them for weeks and they would not schedule a hard time with us. The guys were professional and stayed all day to make sure the job got done right!

I can't say enough good things about Ron. He came to the house and gave us a fair estimate and was honest enough to tell us that he had a long list of customers ahead of us. Because we liked him instantly, we agreed to wait. from November 2013 til March 2014. Ron called us in February and said he had a couple days to do our driveway (due to scheduling snafu with another customer) and would we like our driveway done. Ron and his crew came and 2 days later we had a beautiful new driveway. The only reason it took 2 days was because of the colder temperature, otherwise it would have been done in one day. They graded the ground under the concrete for proper water drainage, they cleaned up the area, including the street before they left. Friendly, honest, professional and just a guy who know about concrete and a group of guys who know how to lay a beautiful driveway. Thank you so much, Ron

The team (incl the company owner) notified me a day in advance of the work, arrived on time and with regards to the finished product, I can simply say fantastic!. These gentlemen know concrete and it was evident that they take extreme pride in their work and final product. I would recommend this company without any reservation, you will not be disappointed.

They were fantastic! They showed up at 8 and got straight to work. The original home builder made several odd decisions in constructing the driveway which made the demo a little more tricky but the work crew figured it all out quickly and got the rest of the driveway removed. Then they got all of the surface prepped and laid the concrete so fast! I honestly did not think they would get it done but by 4pm they had finished! A side note on how awesome they were. It started to rain that day around 4:30. They covered the driveway and returned saturday and cleaned up the area. Really amazing and great customer service! I was impressed to see the owner of the company out helping and involved in the project! He was attentive and answered all my questions thoroughly. I would highly recommend them and will be using their services again!

Ye was polite and professional. I can't use him, because none of my projects meet his minimum requirements for size and location. Otherwise, I would have pursued an estimate.

Based on previous reviews on Angie's List, we contacted Barbare's Concrete as our first choice, but also spoke with 3 other companies for comparison. Ron Barbare was one of only a couple contractors willing to tackle our driveway due to our location on very busy Lynn Road. Barbare's price was the best quote we received and the quality of the concrete exceeded that of the competition! The lead time quoted was 10 weeks and that proved to be spot on. They worked with us as we had some trees taken out at the last minute, adjusting their schedule out a couple of days to accommodate that change in plans. The entire team could not have been nicer or more professional with an extremely high level of attention to detail. They were fast and efficient and the entire experience could not have been better. I have recommended them to strangers who have actually stopped by and asked us who did our lovely new driveway. Even delivery & repairmen comment on what a beautiful driveway we have!

I highly recommend R J Barbares. They gave us a beautiful new driveway right on time for exactly what they quoted. It was a tricky layout and we had a time crunch where if they were even one day late we'd have a problem. They were so nice and professional, and we could not be happier with the results!

They were extremely good. Very careful and did an excellent job. They were able to preserve the landscaping adjacent to the driveway. They were prompt as well. They originally had us scheduled 8 weeks out but had a cancellation and did it in 2.

Everything went as planned. Workers were very hardworking, prompt and considerate.

It want very well. The crew was on time and worked constantly. There was no horsing around. They seemed to know exactly what to do and when. When they had finished, they had created a very, very nice looking driveway, far nicer than the driveway of 23 years ago, when we moved in. We are very pleased.

When giving me an estimate on 7/10/13, Eric told me that due to all the housing construction, his company was scheduled out 10 weeks. I told him that as long as he definitely would come and do the job, he would have my business. I had scheduled this job with 3 other contractors (including 2 Angie's List A-rated ones), and got nothing but No Call / No Shows. I even had A-rated contractors No Call / No Show when coming to give me an estimate. Eric called me 9/14/13 and said his crew would be at my home on 9/17/13 and would do the job in 1 day. We covered the details over the phone. On Tuesday (9/17) they did the job as promised. It looks great, and was done just how I wanted it. I am very pleased, and have already recommended R J Barbares Concrete Co to a couple of co-workers. I gave them a "B" on price, because they were the highest estimate I rec'd for the job. The difference is that Eric actually showed up to do the work..

Tree roots cracked and raised the concrete in my driveway and inside the front part of the garage. I called Barbare's and Eric came by and gave me an estimate. I had received and estimate from another contractor and this one was significantly lower. I accepted the estimate and placed a job order immediately. The A+ Angie's list rating definitely influenced my decision. Although I was told I would have about 7-days notice before work started, a gap in their schedule resulted in a one-day notice, but I happy agreed to the short notice. The 2-days to completion estimate slipped to 2½-days but the communication and the quality of work was excellent. No extra charge surprises at job conclusion. Great job! I am highly satistifed and would recommend Barbare's.

Took several days to have our call returned. We were then promised to have a visit within the next 48 hours. However, it was two or three days after that when he arrived. Very nice but a little condescending in regards to our request. Their bid was the third highest of five bids we received and we decided not to use him.

Contractor was too busy to handle this small of a job. Very professional and helpful.

My old driveway was cracked and raised by tree trunks which became a hazard to man and car. I called Barbares' and Eric came out the next day and measured and gave me an estimate on the spot. Although I had to wait 6 weeks it was well worth the wait. It took 3 days to complete (one just to remove the old concrete and two to pour) - not to mention all the tree roots that they removed along the entire length of the driveway. The attention to detail is fantastic - I have received so many compliments on a driveway no less. Must mention a surprise I received. Although it was not discussed during the estimate,(that I can recall) Eric had included in the price a new walkway to the front steps. He said that he had included it in the price as he couldn't give me a new driveway and have an old, dirty and slightly cracked walkway attached to it. I know from the other estimates I received it would have cost me a lot of "extra" money. I can honestly say that I received more than I bargained for. Eric and his crew arrived by 7:30 every morning and worked so hard I was exhausted watching them. If I could give them an A+ I would and do give them my hightest recommendation especially for all the attention they gave to my project.

We couldn't have been happier with the service we received. By far the best price, and they were completely professional from start to finish.
