I can't see the work except from the ground but it looks terrific

It took almost a month for them to start. They showed up half an hour late on the scheduled day with the wrong color and type materials for the siding. They removed the custom cap and replaced the cap with a standard cap, and promised to return later that day with the correct materials to complete the job. Later, when they returned, they said that they did not have the materials on hand, and would need to order them. They put a tarp over the chimney to keep the rain out. They said someone would call and reschedule a later date to install the siding to complete the job, and left. The next day, they called and said that they cannot obtain the materials and would not be able complete the job. Now I have to go and find someone else to finish the job they started. I wish they had simply returned my deposit and said they were unable to complete the job before starting, rather than removing the old cap, stopping part way and leaving me worse than before. The old cap was still good for a year or two, so there was no urgency. I offered to accept similar color or styles in siding, or even painted wood in place of siding around the new cap. I was quite flexible, but they refused. They told me to go to the original installer of the siding, to get the job completed. They simply gave up and quit, rather than working with me to find some kind of a solution. I hate giving bad reviews. If it had been a simple job, I believe they would have done much better, but they simply promised to do a job they could not complete. For this reason I have to say they were unacceptable.

They inspected chimney and identified need to seal chimney and flashing as well as re-point the brickwork. They installed the chimney cap I requested. They were punctual and professional. They took pictures before and after of work done on chimney which were very useful. Their prices were higher than I expected, but the warranties are longer and the quality of the work/materials is high. They used grey mortar instead of matching the existing tan which was disappointing.

They did a great job. The technician was thorough and gave me useful information about my fireplace and what to be on the look out for over time.

Everything went smoothly. Technician was courteous and professional. I take issue with the fact the retail price for a panel on the web is around $100. I had 2 replaced for around $700 and the job took an hour or less, and the job clearly was not complicated. That equates to $500/hr labor and I'm sure they buy panels in bulk. If I had to do to again, I would do it myself.

I do not even know what they did. I gave them 100 bucks and I do not think they did anything except for an inspection. They called me when they were done with it and gave me a report which was nice. I did not like paying for a quote for work. I would imagine that a quote would be free.

The service tech, Aaron, called me ahead of time to let me know when he was going to arrive - he was actually early for the appointment. He was very professional, polite, and his inspection was very thorough. He made a few recommendations, and while I listened to his advice, I didn't feel at all pressured to set up anything right away. To top it off, he spent about 30 minutes on the inspection, from the crawl space to look at the gas line, all the way to the roof to inspect the cap. I wasn't charged a dime for any of it. I would definitely recommend Mr. Smokestack if you need your chimney inspected.

Very well. I was quite impressed with the consideration the technician gave to keeping my living room clean and his knowledge.

They were prompt, courteous and did good work.

Tech was professional and punctual. Explained everything he did as he went along. Received report of service performed and recommended repairs that may be needed in the future.

Inspected fireplace. Found a problem with the wall so we still can't use the fireplace. Said they don't do much with gas fireplaces. Techician was professional but I would not recommend this deal, especially for gas fireplaces. The worst part was that we ordered this deal in October and they canceled about 4 appointments on us for various reasons, we didn't get them to come out until jauary.

Disappointed and would not recommend, we rearranged our Saturday for this appointment and they did not show up. It is not professional at all.

I contacted 3 companies and this one was the first to reply. As I collected more information from the other estimates, I ended up calling Janney's again for a detail. They were happy to reply. Upon inspection, one chimney didn't need cleaning. The dryer vent had never been cleaned and he collected 3 gallons of lint. The dryer vent is on a long run (15') and the technician never complained. Now we have a clear idea for routine maintenance of all 3. Since they didn't have to clean the second chimney, cleaning the first chimney would have cost more. However, the technician did not charge more.

Didn't turn up as scheduled (Tuesday November 8th) and didn't have the decency to call me. I called them the next day but only got a taped message - left a message with them but have had no response. Very unprofessional. If they can't manage an appointment then not sure if they have the professionalism to do the work needed.

Very professional, thorough and informative. He took his time and explained things to us, as this is a new home for us and we are unfamiliar with chimney maintenance. It is also an older home and is in need of some work. We also received pictures of the chimney interior which were very helpful.

Like several reviewers, I provided a list of available dates for the service, but then received an email to call the office. I called the office and played telephone tag with them for a week. I finally reached someone and was scheduled for today (11/22). The day before (11/21) I didn't receive a reminder, so I called the office after they opened. Not only was I not on the schedule, but they couldn't find my Angie's List deal. I had to provide the code to them even though Angie's List was able to confirm it in their system. The office staff was less than helpful. After they took down my code, I asked that they call me back once they find it so we could reschedule. I also complained to Angie's List once I got to work. Strangely, I was immediately given a refund for the service by Angie's List, but I never heard back from Mr. Smokestack. I'm grateful that I got the refund so quickly, but I advise any member to avoid any deal from this company.

My wife was home at that time. She said that the guy was very courteous. I would consider them again.

It went very well! I am getting ready to call them again.

The technician was on time and explained the entire process. He pointed out several defects in the original installation that lead to the leaks years afterwards. Excellent service and very professional.

On time, thoroughly inspected the chimney.

I've had lots of repairs made on my new home. This was the first service where everything went perfectly. I did have some problems with my HOA but Simona , Smokestack Office Manager, was wonderful and patient in helping me through those issues. I had lots of communication with her and she was always completely professional and patient beyond belief. Tim and Anthony completed the work and everything went great. They made you feel that they were invested in doing a quality job. I appreciated their input in making sure the cap was painted according to HOA specifications. I will definitely use this company for other chimney/fireplace problems. It's refreshing to find a company with such good customer service.
