Mr Smokestack Chimney Service

Description of Work: Inspection service performed satisfactorily, @ discounted price. Repairs needed, legitimately. I found their quote high, and have not had the work done. That has not kept them from calling me a few times to "schedule" the work. That behavior is not really different from other service providers, so, while it is annoying, I don't hold it against them.

Description of Work: I thought my chimney could use a cleaning after a winter of heavy use, so I called this highly rated company when there was a special on Angie's List. This company is very good at customer service things like confirming appointments, showing up on time, responding to the customer, and following up. However, I think they are inclined to recommend unnecessary, expensive repairs. In fact, I was told that I needed $4000 worth of repairs on my chimney and that it was dangerous to use. Before spending that amount, I sought a second opinion. I discovered that the actual smoke box had not been adequately cleaned, hence the smoky smell that continued to pervade my living room. Moreover, the cracks and deterioration shown on the camera were just not that serious, certainly not warranting this level of repair on my older chimney. I don't know if they were attempting to bring the chimney up to some ideal code standard at huge expense or if is just the way they operate, but I felt that this was part of their business model---spare no expense to fix relatively minor defects. How will the customer know the difference?

Description of Work: Eric & Chris cleaned our gas fireplace. They were punctual & explained the procedure before starting to work. They covered the area in front of the fireplace so the rug wouldn't get soiled. We were very pleased with the work performed and very impressed with the professional & courteous manner of these young men. We definitely will use Mr. Smokestack again.

Description of Work: Inspected & cleaned chimney. Inspected roof & offered inspection of attic as well (but no easy access to complete). Gave advice on how to prolong life of liner and best ways to have a safe fire. Very clean and friendly as well as patient & kind with our four-year old. Advised no needed repairs. We will definitely call them again for our next annual service.

Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal to have this company inspect and clean our chimney, due to some chimney swifts that had taken up residence in our chimney over the past couple of years. | |We scheduled the appointment for a few weeks after the swifts left their nest, and the workman arrived on time. They were clean, respectful, informative - I would certainly use them again should the need arise. | |During this appointment we also have them install a chimney cap. I noticed several weeks later that the chimney cap appeared crooked, and called Mr. Smokestack to see if they could take a look. | |They squeezed us into their schedule the week before Thanksgiving and fixed the problem, which was caused because the terra cotta footing on the chimney was uneven. | |In short, great work, great quality, and would certainly use again.
