They were really nice and I was very pleased. The guy that came did a great job. He was also prompt and had good communication. He left no mess when finished. I was given before and after pictures to see the finished result. I would recommend them.

Overall it went well. Very professional company. CAUTIONS: If you don't want the chimney cap a glossy black, be sure to double check before installation. I wanted a flat one, and he almost painted it glossy as either the message wasn't passed along, or it was overlooked. Check where they are spray painting it too as I worried about the mist getting on the car nearby, so I moved it. Fireplace flu wasn't very dirty, as we've had gas logs for years. They threw that in for free. Good about covering the surrounding area and clean up.

I was very pleased with the overall service. I would highly recommend them.

Robbie was on time, professional, incredibly friendly, and very detailed in his inspection...which showed us that the chimney needed a significant amount more work than we originally suspected. Thanks to Robbie's thoroughness, we are able to make a more educated decision when it comes to the purchase price of the home and the order of repairs we will actually need to do. And when it comes time to do the chimney repairs, there is no one else I would even consider using.

I have gas logs and had not had the chimney cleaned in years. There was a funny smell every time we used the fireplace so I called and spoke with the owner who advised a gas log fireplace should be cleaned every 5 or 6 years. He came to my home two days later. After checking the inside fireplace and than climbing up on the roof he advised we did not need a cleaning but the smell was caused by a leak on top of the chimney. It was a simple, non expensive fix. Very happy with Mr. Smokestack and they will be my chimney sweep in the future.

We have used Mr. Smokestack on several occasions for our new home and every time the experience has been wonderful! Robbie is very communicative, prompt, neat, thorough, and well priced. He takes his time and makes sure that everything is safe. We went over everything that was worked on as well as how things worked to make sure we understood everything he had serviced.

I was having animals get in the house through the chimney. As it turned out, I was not operating the chimney cap correctly. Yes, embarassing to say the least. But Mr. Smokestack was fantastic for the entire service. 1) He quickly identified the problem, and noted that I actually had an excellent chimney cap. Did not make fun of me either, which I probably deserved. 2) Gave what seems a reasonable estimate for water damage and some required chimney repair. 3) Did not even charge me for a service call, which I would have gladly payed and offered.

He came as promised, completed the work necessary, and was very courteous, and helpful from start to finish.

Came promply when called. Did the work the next day. Very clean. We've had no roblems or leaks since.

I called Mr Smokestack about 6 weeks go to have him clean out my chimney and to install a chimney cap. I was concerned because chimney swifts had been nesting in my chimney for several years. He informed me that the chimney swifts are endangered and he could not remove them. We must wait until they leave the chimney. He called me s soon as possible after the birds were gone and we set up an appointment. He arrived on time. He first took pictures of the inside of my fireplace and chimney, the entire way up the chimney. He showed me the pictures and informed me that I did not need my chimney cleaned. There was only a very small nest which he said will not cause a fire. Then he addressed the chimney cap I requested. I had a Home Depot one he could install, and he would heve, except that he gave me a choice of a great stainless steel chimney cap with sharp screws which would go into the chimney and never come off in the winds. I chose the Stainless Steel Chimney Cap and he charged only $199 for the Chimney Cap and his installation. I have a very steep and high roof. That didn't bother him. BEST OF ALL he took pictures of the installation process so that I could see the installed ChimneyCap I was paying for. No other chimney sweep has been so honest or done such excellent work for me as Mr Smokestack. I recommend him Highly.

We were getting some drywall damage around the fireplace. A chimney inspection was performed. Was initially to perform a level 2 inspection, but it was reported that a level 1 is all that is required. He indicated that speding the additional $ was not necessary. Upon reviewing my chimney, he saw an area in the masonry grout that had some separation and he sealed the entire area. Pictures were taken so we can compare later if necessary. Damage seems to have stopped and we are extremely pleased. It was a very good experience. Professional, polite and punctual. Made sure that all questions were answered. Would definitely recommend.

The experience was almost flawless, from the courtesy and professionalism shown at arrival, to the quality of work performed. Had I waited any longer, I would probably have had some major damage and incurred a hefty bill for the repairs. Robbie came to the house on time and was very helpful in explaining all the working aspects of a chimney. It was very evident that he had a vast knowledge of his trade. I was very happy with Mr. Smokestack in all aspects from the first call to the final clean-up and the price. I would highly reccommend Mr Smokestack based on my experience.

We had used Mr Smokestack to just check our fireplaces in a couple of properties - an annual inspection to make sure everything was operating as it should. They were thorough and informative. On our primary residence a few years ago we had a new fireplace installed by a fireplace company - when they did it, they ripped out the old insulation and didn't replace it so the exterior wall has caused us to have a large cold draft that was terrible in the winter and heat in the summer. After trying to get the fireplace company to fix this and they stopped returning phone calls, we just could not ignore it any longer and I spoke with Robbie at Mr. Smokestack, he came out, gave us a quote and we signed on figuring not only would we be more comfortable but it would pay for itself in energy savings quickly. Robbie & his guy came out, was incredibly neat in our yard. No nails were left behind and if you've ever had contractors work on your home, you know how rare that is! He not only fixed the problem but found various messes that a different contractor had made when replacing the chimney siding a few years ago. There was no extra charge. I wish I'd have known about him when we had that chimney repair work done and before getting our house painted in the spring, I'm having him out to make sure the chimney is as ready as possible. You want someone who is reliable, professional and talented while being fair and reasonable - call Robbie. I cannot tell you how many times we've had bad contractors - when you find a good one, hold on to their name! Robbie and Mr. Smokestack is one of those.

whenever we would burn more than one peice of wood in our fireplace, smoke would roll out into the living room. I called Mr Smokestack after reading the reviews from Angies list. Robbie came over and explained why this was happening. He suggested the smoke gaurd for the fireplace and a 8" cap instead of the 4" cap that was on the chimney. He was very curtious and extremely knowledgeable about his trade. He was on time and did a fantastic quality job! I would definately use his service again.

Robbie showed up on-time and was extremely personable, professional, and thoroughly explained how the inspection process would be carried out. We had agreed on a price, however when he got to the house it turned out there were three flues instead of the two that we thought. He honored his original quote and actually did a higher level of inspection than we had originally agreed on at no additional cost. After he was finished his inspection he explained his findings and told me he would follow up with a detailed written report and photos, which he did. His findings were spot on. After he was finished he left and I stayed with the home inspector to inspect the rest of the house. During that time it rained heavily and the chimney leaked exactly where he said it would and it was clear that his overall assessment of its condition was accurate. The home inspector actually asked for one of Robbie's business cards and told me later "that guy knows what he's doing". I would highly recommend Mr. Smokestack and plan to use them for future chimney needs.

We agreed to a price on the phone to clean my fireplace chimney. The worker arrived, brought his equipment into the house and looked into the chimney. He said the chimney was heavily coated with creosote and he would have to charge a higher price than what he quoted. I agreed to the extra cost (about 55% higher). He removed the fireplace damper for easier access and began to work. The next day I looked into the chimney and was surprised to see creosote still adhering to the sides of the chimney just a few inches above the opening. I used a 3 foot garden tool to remove more creosote in just a few minutes. I also noticed that he used a cotter pin that was too small when he replaced the damper. I installed the proper size cotter pin.

Would gladly recommend this company to anyone in need of fireplace repair/replacement for his knowledge and detailed service along with his personable service are outstanding! PS. He is also great with children.

I live in downtown Raleigh and I recently contacted Mr. Smokestack because I was having multiple issues with my wood burning fireplace. The first problem was every time it rained my fireplace would smell really bad and secondly, I had a raccoon in my chimney! A guy called Robbie from Mr. Sokestack (who was very professional) came to my home and proceeded with a Level 2 Inspection. He had a digital camera with him and took photos and explained what the problems where. He had the wildlife out within a couple of hours and put a new crown seal on the top of my chimney with a new chimney cap. This was two weeks ago and my fireplace is working perfectly with no bad odor problems. I would highly recommend Mr. Smokestack whether it be for a sweep or repair work for your chimney.
