Mr Smokestack Chimney Service

Robbie was such a cheerful and wonderful person to communicate with. He assisted in making the appointment for the chimney inspection and repairs and followed up with us to ensure our service was top notch. His employee Gene was polite, punctual, informative, and eager to teach us about our fireplace and chimney. He did an excellent job inspecting the chimney and repairing the problem areas. I was impressed with their customer service, repairs, and professionalism. I would readily recommend Mr. Smokestack to family and friends.

Called these folks to do a 5 to 6 foot dryer vent pipe replacement in a crawlspace. They came and gave me an estimate for $600. I was shocked at the price. This is a job that should take no more than 2 hours with less than $50 materials. Just for fun I ran some numbers with a worst case scenario. Let?s say they get $100/hour and it takes 4 hours and the material is $80. That?s $480. 4 hours actually borders on incompetence and $100/hour is exorbitant. I called several others on Angie?s list and they thought the price was insane. Can?t understand how they?ve managed to get the rating they have.

Robbie of Mr. Smokestack was a professional through and through. He communicated with us often, returned calls quickly and the company did the chase replacement work as promised. When I had a question about the square pieces of metal directly over the chimney flues (the caps) after the work was done, Robbie advised that they did not need replacement. Instead, they applied two coats of high temperature paint to them. This served three purposes: 1) It saved us a lot of money ($389 per cap!). 2) It extends the life of the caps by ten more years. 3) It keeps the entire look of the finished product uniform. I am very happy with the result and know that if I have any other questions or concerns, Robbie will address them promptly.

Mr. Smokestack originally came out to do an inspection and chimney sweep of one chimney, but after inspecting ended up not needing to do the chimney sweep (turned out it was clean). He made quick (but thorough) work of the inspection, showing me photos that went deep into the chimney to show me the condition of its interior. He explained all of the parts of the chimney, and why it was unsafe to use at this time, and had an electronic estimate to me before he'd even left the house. He also ended up inspecting our other chimney to determine how much repairs would cost for that one as well, but we never received an estimate for that. Although he arrived a bit late, he didn't seem rushed to get out of there, and answered all of my questions patiently. We haven't scheduled the chimney work yet (it came in at over $3,000 for a New Crown Coat Sealant plus Water Repellent Application, Fire Guard high temperature cement flue repair in chimney structure, covering Smoke Chamber with High-Temperature Cement, and resealing the existing chimney flashing) but when we do we will definitely be using Mr. Smokestack. The only thing I wish he'd done differently is use the extension ladder with a stand-off stabilizer (he had one on his truck but didn't use it). We have brand new gutters and I panicked when I saw him lean his ladder on the gutters to scale the roof.

Very professional service. The repairmen were on time, respectful and worked very efficiently. The owner called beforehand and after the service to make sure that everything went well. Can't wait until it gets cool again so that we can use the fireplace!

David and Gene workers for Mr. Smoke Stack called first and then showed up right on time. Both young men were very knowledgeable and professional. They explained step by step everything they were going to do. I had a birds nest blocking the damper so Gene made sure before he removed it to lay down some tarp to catch what ever came out. David went on the roof to inspect the chimney and take pictures to show me the cracks and wear which he could repair. Also the fact that I needed to have the chimney capped to avoid animals from getting in again. All of which I already knew had to be addressed. He also explained he could break the bill up over a 6 month time frame without interest to make it easier to handle. I had the chimney cleaned, the damper cleared of animal litter and the crown of the chimney coated with an epoxy to avoid water damage. they also sprayed a water repellent around the sides of the chimney and capped it off. I initially only planned on having the chimney cleaned and doing the rest at a later date, But I'm glad I got this out of the way before the weather breaks and the temp starts to dip. I think they did an excellent job.

Robbie, the owner, is very friendly and has hired excellent people to work for him. He did the work for us, the first time we used Mr. Smokestack, but the most recent time, 2 of his young men came to the house and the service was just as excellent as the first time. Amazing! David came out to look at our chimney and give us an estimate for replacement/repair. My husband and I were fascinated as he scaled up our high pitched roof to the chimney. He is like a ninja!! Once atop the chimney, he took pictures of the current state of affairs up there and measured the existing chase and cap. After he made it safely back to the ground, we discussed options for repair/replacement. He gave us two quotes, both of which were less than another quote we had received. We believed him to be honest and fair and decided to proceed with one of the options. The previously mentioned ?quote? came from another company on Angie?s List. No one from that company came out to look at our chimney; I was simply sent an email with pricing. In contrast, Robbie (Mr. Smokestack) responded to my inquiry with a phone call to set the appointment and called the night before to remind us! The day of our appointment David called when he was heading our way. Customer service like this seems to be a rarity these days. The job was done with precision and care in a timely manner. Robbie called shortly after David left to follow up. I received an email that morning that included the before and after pictures of our chimney! I recommend Mr. Smokestack for anyone with ANY chimney issues!!

Robbie was great. So was his technician David. They were easy to work with, did a thorough job, and were very honest, which saved us a lot of money. We are so pleased and will turn to them for. All future fireplace needs.

Totally professional and personable staff. Robbie followed up on every step of the process and was very apologetic about a slight delay with the custom cap that was totally out of his control. Our main concern about the install was not having the crown and cap interfere with the aesthetics of the fireplace. They listened, modified the installation to address our desires and delivered what we wanted. We are extremely happy with the outcome and would 100% recommend Mr. Smokestack.

The employees (David and Gene) arrived on time exactly and were very clear about what was being asked of them. They placed their booties on before entering the home even though the house was under renovation and there was no need. They took car with tarps and a HEPA vac to avoid contamination of the living space. After completing the initial work I had requested we noticed some areas of concern on the roof with the external brick. I have done a bit of roof and masonry work and realized that David was accurate in his assessment of what needed to be done. He and Gene stayed a little while longer to complete the necessary repairs. One thing I appreciated is that when I asked Gene to move their van so I could get out of the drive..... he didn't park in the grass on my neighbors yard. In the past this has been a problem with contractors. Good to see a little forethought. A short while after they had left I was contacted by Robbie Markey, the owner, and was asked if everything was to my liking. Pleasant to work with Robbie. Used him last year for a sweep and small repair. The experience with his employees this year was just as smooth.

Robbie came out last year and did an inspection when I moved into the home and he had David come out this time. Both are great guys and have me as a customer from here on out.

New home, no history with the fireplace, cleaned as well as added high temperature bond to cracks. Very professional, knowledgeable and efficient. They are very busy and must be scheduled in advance but he is well worth the money to use your chimney worry free.

It was a wonderful experience. I left a request to be contacted on their website and within an hour Robbie had called, we discussed my situation, and we agreed on an appointment time. The installer showed up right on time and was very professional. He went right to work and was done within about 30 minutes including the time to take pictures so that he could show me the entire process and installation. He did point out some other issues for me to be aware of and he also documented that with the pictures as well. All in all, it was a very pleasurable experience. (even though it cost me money!)

Mr. Smokestack came recommended by another chimney service provider when they could not do the work we needed. Robbie & David were wonderful from start to finish. David came out for our estimate, and walked us through all of our options. Over the course of a couple days, they replaced our entire chimney. Even when they came upon additional necessary work, they did not increase their charge. The new chimney looks like it's original to the house, it matches so well. I would use Mr. Smokestack again, and recommend them to anyone.

The whole process went really well! Robbie and his team were amazing and very professional the entire time. Hopefully we will never have to have chimney work done again, but if we do it will only be with Mr. SmokeStack!!!

I first worked with Mr. Smokestack when purchasing my home. They performed a chimney inspection for us and it was invaluable in negotiating for the purchase of the home. He informed us at that time that our chimney cap was the incorrect size and that it may blow off in a strong storm. Recently that happened and I did not hesitate to contact them again to perform the replacement. Robbie is polite and very knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to contact them again in the future.
