Mr Smokestack Chimney Service

Had a chimney inspection and sweep performed to check the performance of a chinmney that has not been used in 10+ years. Sweep was fine and had everything cleaned up promptly. For the inspection felt like they were trying to oversell me and could not provide options based on price range requested. I kept on getting sold for a chimney liner replacement which would run over 2000. Estimates from other chimney services were much cheaper.

John & Chris did a very thorough job. Very professional & explained the issues, with pictures on the iPad. It's good to see the problems visually & get an understandable explanation. They also followed up with an inspection report, replete with pictures.

These guys are very busy. I had to wait over a month for an appointment. Once they came, they did excellent work and were very professional. They diagnosed a cracked refractory panel on the floor of my fireplace, and were able to replace it the same day. The two technicians were punctual, personable and quite concerned with cleanliness. Kudos! ( note: I gave them a "B" for price, because the cost of the replacement refractory panel was higher than I would have expected, however I am not familiar with these things.)

It was very nice to have that information with the estimate right away. I would use this provider in the future.

They always show you their work with a camera system, so you can be assured it is done well. Very polite service persons, and the owner stopped by to double check their work.

The techs were professional and friendly; not a spec of ash was left behind. They found several problems (I recently bought the place without repairs included), and took copious pictures. I now have an estimate for repairs and will do a separate review for that work.

They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely fashion. They inspected and suggested additional repairs.

They did a very thorough job and gave us estimates on how to insure the safety of using the fireplace. Also broke down the repairs into jobs and also listed things that could be done but not necessary to be done immediately.

They were A+ great! They originally couldn't get me in until late October because they were so backed up and busy, but I got a call on Tuesday 9/30 saying they had an opening and could come 10/1. I agreed. They showed up early (!!!) :) did a thorough job, took lots of pictures and explained everything, and did a chimney sweep. The guys were extremely polite and friendly as well. Couldn't ask for more.

The were very punctual, cleaned up after themselves well and showed me before and after pictures. Although the work was excellent I did feel the price was high for the work performed. I would have felt better about paying what I did had I gotten a second quote which I will do in future. I would like to add that I do not question that the work had to be done but the price and I should have gotten a second quote to reassure myself that the price was in line with the scope of work.

I decided to use them because I had gotten a quote from Chimney Plus and it was quite a bit more money and for smaller projects and they have few recommendations. Smokestack was able to give a recommendation that I needed and the price was okay. They felt that there were things that should be additionally done to preserve the integrity of my home. They were comparable and a little bit more expensive.

We were very pleased with this company. Technicians shoed up on time, were very professional, videoed the process, showed us before and after pictures.and followed up the next day. Would recommend them!

Job was explained thoroughly, work done very cleanly and efficiently, and on time. Willing to split the work into separate parts so that we didn't have a big payment all at once. We would definitely use them again--they've been the best chimney sweeps we have used so far. And no hard sell on additional items--only the things that we needed for safety.

We recently purchased a 50-yr old home with a large stone fireplace, and wanted to have it inspected before we used it. We chose Mr. Smokestack from the excellent reviews on Angie's List, and realize now that the 5-star rating is well deserved. Although it was several weeks before they could come to our house (winter is a busy time for them!), they were very professional and friendly on the phone when setting up our appointment. The technician (who was the manager, I believe) was right on time, super friendly and professional, and let my kids watch as he scoped the chimney with cameras. Originally I had requested an inspection and cleaning, but he discovered that the chimney required significant repairs before we could use it, and so he only charged me for the inspection. A detailed invoice was emailed to me, along with a detailed explanation and estimate for the necessary repairs. We have not completed the repairs yet but will definitely have them return to perform the work. Great company; great customer service!

We moved into a new house this year. A comprehensive inspection was not performed on the chimney when we moved in. We knew that generally, it was okay, but wanted confirmation that it was safe to use. The guys from Mr Smokestack came out, checked it inside and out. Revealed that the lining was in great shape and my fireplace was perfectly usable. They did tell me that my chase cover ought to be replaced. They showed me photos of what they observed while on my roof and in my attic. The chase cover was probably original and was starting to rust out and allow water to seep into the attic. It's not bad yet, but it is something that needs to be replaced. I did not have them do the work that day and our fireplace treated us fine throughout the rest of the winter. The cost (very reasonable, I think) was well worth my peace of mind. This was all in late February. At the end of June, Mr Smokestack will be coming out to finally replace that chase cover. Based on what I was told about the quality of this chase cover, I don't expect to have to replace one again. Thank you!
