Mr Smokestack Chimney Service

They were very responsive, on time, educational, professional, and a good price. They cleaned and inspected my chimney thoroughly including looking in my attic where the chimney pokes through into the attic. They offered repair suggestions that I hadn't previously seen, and they were extremely educational overall. I purchased the $99 deal through Angie's List.

Chris and his co worker were very friendly and explained well some things he found in the fireplace. He did a nice job of cleaning and inspecting. Would definitely use them again.

The two men who arrived on time, were very professional and completed work with no inconvenience to me. Left my living room as they found it, no mess at all.

Great! They did a good job and they did it quickly. I was not charged more but their estimate for what it would take to fix it was higher than what the person who finally fixed it was. But they did a good job coming out and cleaning it. We were pleased with them. They were right here on time and they did find the problem. Their estimate on fixing it was a little high.

Wasn't sure if fireplace worked.i now know how to work it for the winter.

Mr. Smokestack performed several services to bring our chimney (which had 2 flus) up to industry standards. They coated each flu with FireGuard chimney coat, they coated each firebox with cement coat, they repointed the firebox, and cleaned and resealed the external chimney on the roof. From initial contact and throughout the experience, they were prompt and detailed in their communications, professional in their responses, and worked to answer any questions we had on the services. They were able to provide us with a quote for the services after receiving photos from us over email, and they were approximately 10% cheaper than one of their primary competitors in the area, despite having better reviews on Angie's List and better customer service. They arrived on time for the service and finished within the time scheduled, and followed-up the same day with a full inventory of before and after pictures. They were on time and professional even though we had failed to ensure there was power at our newly purchased house! We would definitely use Mr. Smokestack again.

GREAT!!! This is my first order for services on Angie's List as a new member and i must say that i was a little nervous and excited at the same time, but my nervousness was eased when shortly after printing the receipt of my purchase, i received a call to schedule an appointment from Smokestack Chimney Services , and this was around closing time for most businesses. The callers voice belonged to Simona who was very professional and courteous and who probably sensed some residual nervousness and very expertly maneuvered me to the reasons why i purchased the service which was my gas logged fireplace. i was scheduled 1 month from my purchase date because they were so busy but who needs a fireplace in the beginning of summer anyway and shes not a magician right ? Surprisingly, she showed some magical abilities when she later called to inform me that she found an opening within 2 weeks of my order that i could have. At that moment i heard ":ABRACADABRA" in my mind and all was good. she left me with a promise (which she fulfilled ) to call 1 week and also 1 day before the appointment just to confirm that all was well. when the servicemen Chris and Eric arrived 2 weeks later at 1145 , the scheduled time was between 11am and 1pm i was so at ease ( and i know what it mean to be "AT EASE" due to my military background ) because of my contact with Simona. these gentlemen were well informed as to why they were here and after a short intro they put on their shoe covers, brought in the protective tarp for my carpet and i showed them where the location of the fireplace and they began working. i had some issues with time, so i didn't bother them while they worked. they surprisingly called me 45 minutes later to inform me that they were all finished and to fill me in on why my fireplace wasn't working at all. they even showed concern for my safety when they noticed that i didn't have a carbon monoxide monitor in my home by stating several times the importance of having one but didn't push to buy one. they were great!

They guys were great. They did the work and explained all about the technology as they worked. A good experience and I'd definitely use them again. Highly recommended.

Everything went well. The gentlemen from Mr. Smokestack Chimney arrived at the scheduled time and introduced themselves. They slipped on their shoe covers and entered my home and got to work testing the fireplace and cleaning the gas logs. One of the service techs and I talked about the fireplace and concerns or questions I had. I expressed my concern about rusted chase cover on our stick chimney. He climbed up on the roof and inspected. As I suspected, the chase cover was in pretty bad shape. The gentlemen working on the gas logs wrapped up his duties and the other gentlemen competed his analysis of my chimney and chase cover. We talked about the chase cover and they provided an estimate to replace. They quoted $899.00 to replace the cover. I was a hesitant given they use galvanized steel rather than a corrosion resistant metal like stainless steel. They indicated they will krylon paint the chase cover to my liking and back it with a ten year warranty. Given I was happy their service already provided, I decided to pull the trigger and place a 30% deposit on the chase cover. Unfortunately, they are unable to install until July 2nd. I realize the review digressed a bit; however, I was happy with the services performed for the $89 Angie's List deal.

The two Smokestack guys called before arriving and showed up on time. They were very friendly but also professional. They not only cleaned the fireplace from top to bottom but also got the remote igniter working again. Some of the glowing embers in the bottom had crumbled over time so they replaced those and adjusted the flame for a better look. The ten year old fireplace appears basically brand new again.

Until I saw the "Big Deal" offer for a cleaning and check up I had not thought much about the need for a service. Two very nice young men showed up right on time to do the job. They did a remarkably thorough cleaning of the entire unit, added and fine tuned the rock wool and cleaned up beautifully. The final result was a much better flame pattern in the fire box and the assurance that the safety features of the fireplace were working properly. My impression is that this is a very well run company that does good work and charges fair prices. I will be happy to call them again in a couple of years for another service.

Incredibly well. Extremely professional and personable guys. Explained everything they were going to do. We had been having difficulty with the unit and asked them a BUNCH of questions. Which they were very glad to answer all of ! The fireplace now looks better than brand new, and functions perfectly. And they hung around to make sure we were comfortable starting it up, and shutting it back down. Will not hesitate to use them again if we need help!

The inspector was very professional. He swept the chimney and provided an inspection report. He found an issue with the chimney and informed us of cost to repair without trying to push us to buy the service from them.

The team arrived as scheduled and and completed the work exceptionally well. They were very courteous and professional. They cleaned everything well before leaving and put everything in the exact same space. I would definitely use this service again in the future.

Review of Fireplace and Chimney Cleaning and Restoration by Mr. Smokestack Apologies to Mr. Smokestack for a tardy review of work done in the spring of 2014. I had intended to test the fireplace before reviewing the work last year, but that was delayed by a scheduling snafu, mortar curing time and relatively mild weather afterward. Now, one year later, we have tested the system and can report satisfaction with the outcome, that the work was performed carefully, knowledgeably and efficiently. The project began with inspection and cleaning of the fireplace and chimney that had not been used in several years in a 40 year-old residence. The price for that service was reasonable, the cleaning was done carefully and efficiently and the house interior was protected. The service person, Gene, indicated several structural/safety risks that he recommended for repair. He took images with an IPad of the fireplace and chimney, inside and out, to exhibit potential problems. The repair estimate was not cheap. I balked at paying 30% up front for work that would not be performed for a couple of months in the future. I was then told that I could pay closer to the scheduled repair date but without a reminder lost track so I had to reschedule for a date when the cold weather was subsiding. Mr. Smokestack had a full schedule but Gene was agreeable to return on a Sunday, with a helper. They worked well as a team inside the house and on the roof despite challenging weather outside. They kept the house clean and were careful and seemingly thorough in using high temperature cement to repair the smoke chamber and chimney, repoint the firebox and chimney, install a stainless steel chimney cap, and apply water repellant to the chimney crown. Ipad images demonstrated what had been done. Nearly a year later, in preparing to use the fireplace for the first time, during a cold snap, I noticed that a small chunk of mortar had dislodged from the front interior of the fireplace. Mr. Smokestack quickly rescheduled Chris and John to come to our house to repair that small defect with quick drying mortar. They worked efficiently and carefully to complete the repair. We have since enjoyed using the fireplace several times during this past winter?s chilly nights. In summary, Mr. Smokestack?s employees worked carefully, effectively, conscientiously, and considerately to restore our fireplace and chimney to working order and to improve its condition to protect the safety of the residence. We are happy to have contracted with Mr. Smokestack for this repair and renovation and recommend them to others. We look forward to many years of warm fires during chilly nights, knowing that our house has been made safer from possible damage.

Just recently bought our house, and the chimney came up on the inspection report. Mr. Smokestack did a great job cleaning it and giving us an estimate on the work needed for our poor chimney, which the previous owners had apparently never serviced. The service folks were very respectful of our house, and other than a cleaner chimney, we couldn't even tell they'd been in. They'll definitely be our first call when it's time to get things cleaned next.
