Always showed up on scheduled days. Always responsive when we've had issues between services. Came multiple time to take care of mouse problem and got in under control quickly. Every year we seem to have an ant problem and they come out and whatever they do we no longer see any ants near our home let alone inside.

I highly recommend this company! I've come to expect service providers to not follow-through with the promises made during the sale, but this group has done everything they said they would, and more. If i ever see a bug in or around our house, and call them, they are there the very next day. Always friendly. Always on time.

This was my first visit by this company. They did my outside service. Also swept all the spider webs away. Their products are pet "friendly". My service agent was careful around my fish pond. They are to come back in 30 days and do my inside service and make sure everything outside is still going well.

They had to make multiple trips out but never complained about the additional visits. They did get rid of my ant problem. Very pleased with their office staff in scheduling additional visits, and with the Technicians who worked with us to get rid of the ants. Would highly recommend them.

Our service started out with a bold faced LIE so I am not surprised that it is ending in this fashion. A technician came to our door and spoke to my husband, telling him that our neighbors two doors down (and pointed) used Moxie and were happy with their service. He purchased a "new customer one year" plan which included inside and outside spraying for pest control. The technician picked the wrong house to lie about because two days later when I asked our neighbors two houses down (specifically where he pointed) how they liked Moxie, lo and behold, they have never used them and have no intention of it. So we gave them the benefit of the doubt and had them come out and do the first inside/outside spray. Three weeks later I had to call to schedule the followup after they failed to do so. I told them that we needed to be here because I wanted them to re-spray inside as well and the receptionist confirmed my request. They were scheduled to come out on a Saturday (today) and give us a call 30 minutes before they came out. We got a call at ***6:45pm*** at night saying that a technician will be out shortly. We stayed at home all day waiting on their visit and at 5pm left to go get dinner assuming that they had blown us off. We get home from dinner at 7:30pm, pull up into our driveway and notice something unusual on our garage door. We get out of the car and our five year old daughter runs up to it and runs her hands through what looks like water sprayed on the garage door. We go around to the front door and find a notice that Moxie was here. Not thinking much of it, we go inside the house and that is when my husband says "I think that was insect poison on the garage door". I look over and my five year old is RUBBING HER FACE WITH HANDS THAT HAVE JUST BEEN IN INSECT POISON. I scream at her to stop (causing her to burst into tears) and rush her into the shower. This is unacceptable beyond all means possible. Coming out at 7pm on a Saturday night is no where near good business practice. Neither is ignoring a direct request to have homeowners present when treatment is performed. Then ignoring all common sense and doing the treatment anyway shows disrespect for my property and my family. They also overturned three of my potted plants on the walkway and decided to just leave them there. And on top of it all through their direct actions they put my daughter in physical danger... you can imagine my pure anger at this point. As a mother I am now going to spend the rest of the night worrying whether she is going to have a reaction to the insect poison or whether she is going to get sick or not from it. Long story short I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy.

It turned out well. What I like is they just come when I am not here and I can call them if I have a problem with pests indoors anytime. They come every three months and do the service. They gave me my first service outdoors, which was for $35 or something, and within a month, they came back and did another service and every service from then on is $99. I really don’t have any base line to compare their prices though. I haven’t had to call them out yet, they just come. They are very professional.

The technicians are all very professional and knowledgeable. One month after they first treated our home there was an infestation with baby centipedes all over our first floor, and in our garage. Moxie arrived the next day and the centipedes were gone almost immediately. I never knew what exactly the other pest control companies were doing. Moxie spells everything out so we are informed. They also caught a mouse in our pantry at no extra cost!
Description of Work: Review our needs, plan detailed approach, spray extensively outside home and also inside (after we removed all pets).

A representative of Moxie Pest Control appeared at our front door and used the shop-worn pitch that they were doing service "in the neighborhood" and would offer us a special price on a complete insect-prevention treatment of house and yard -- for only $99 instead of the regular $219. The catch, which became apparent only when I asked directly, was that we would be committed to regular quarterly treatments for the following year, at the "regular" price. The salesperson never explicitly totaled the annual cost, but including the "discounted" initial price, I figured it would seem add up to $656 for the year.That was definitely something we did not want, but the extremely annoying salesperson simply would not take no for an answer, and every time I looked away from him, bent down and virtually stuck his face in mine in an attempt to stare me in the eye. Finally, after I had repeatedly attempted to politely refuse his offer, I had to literally shut the door on him in order to end his dogged pitch. Based on that experience, I would never remotely consider using Moxie for anything.

A guy from Moxie Pest Control tried soliciting their company to us by knocking on our front door. He said he was doing service with other neighbors in the neighborhood, and he offered us a "special" price for prevention treatment indoors and out. I said I wasn't interested, and he kept persisting, even after several times of me saying no. I finally closed the door in his face. What a rude company.

I usually don't write reviews, but I've been so disturbed by the Moxie pest control people that I have to speak up. Our quiet neighborhood has been terrorized by an incredibly rude, aggressive and threatening Moxie solicitor for the last 4 to 5 days. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this. This one guy goes from house to house, banging on doors very loudly, like he's trying to break in. Then, when we answer and tell him we're not interested, he persists and talks and gets testy. It's come to where several of us in the neighborhood have threatened to have him removed by the police. Actually, we've had the police come 3 times now and talk to him. The other day the police came and told him to stop harassing the neighborhood. Guess what he did right after? Went to another house! At freakin' 8:40 pm at night. You would think that by this point, this guy would have taken a hint. But he's been back nearly every day, sometimes going to the same house again. It's unreal. Many of us in the neighborhood have called Moxie's office in Raleigh, thinking that if they knew what their employee was doing, they'd flip too. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The Moxie manager was unapologetic and sounded unconcerned. And the harassment has not stopped. What kind of business operates like this? At this point, I'm beginning to wonder if there is ulterior motive. This guy and his company are wasting efforts, spending hours every day making door-to-door calls and getting nothing for it. No one is going to buy from a threatening, pushy and rude salesman. So what do they want? Is their business model to annoy people so badly that eventually the just give up and hire them so they'll stop forcing down their doors? I just don't get it. From reading the reviews here on Angie's List, it sounds like our experience is quite typical. I can understand one bad apple, but when multiple representatives are acting the same way, it leads me to believe that Moxie is actually training their reps to act like this. A company like that deserves no business at all. Please Moxie, leave our neighboorhood alone. And clean up your act. Great companies with valuable services need not annoy, push or force anyone. Rather, people will want to buy your service if you're polite and do a good job. I hope no one else needs to suffer this nonsense.

It is very disappointing for us to see that anyone has an experience like this with any one of our employees. We do sincerely apologize if this particular employee was a nuisance or harassing in any sense of the word. It is a little disappointing to receive a complaint on here from someone that had very limited contact with our company. Many LARGE, reputable companies occasionally have employees going door to door to increase business in a certain area to help with routing and drive times. We are no different. This is mostly disappointing because there were approximately 15 neighbors just in this neighborhood that just recently signed up for our services and another 20 plus longtime satisfied customers in the same neighborhood. The police that were called were shown the proper documents and allowed this person to remain in the area because he was conducting business legally. We also spoke to the Durham Police Captain about the same situation and everything was within the laws of the city of Durham. Any house that he would have visited at 8:40pm would have been someone that requested him to come back. Please look at our reviews that involve our actual customers, as they are positive and rate our services high. Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you specifically and we will make sure to handle the situation accordingly as well as continue our daily training to our employees to make sure they are only treating everyone they encounter with respect.

He was rude and pushy. He didn't listen when I told him we already had service for pests. He tried to get my name and I told him I wasn't interested. He insisted he'd be back tomorrow and would spray outside and in the the house. I told him again we weren't interested but he kept talking. I finally had to shut the door in his face which I've never done before! Several of my neighbors had similar experiences. Even I were considering using Moxie, I certainly won't ever now utilize their services!

Let's start with dewebbed. Cobwebbs are all over my bushes front porch ...heck anywhere there is a tight space or corner. Granulated? who knows I wasn't there to see. powersprayed? again where and what? Treated crawlspace - absolutely not, especially under 2 areas of my house that they never get to because they require someone actually getting a little dirty? Never seen pest control guys afraid of pests or getting dirty in their pressed pants. Under my bay window never gets treated, as well as the areas under the deck. which is about six or seven feet of the ground! Please Moxie don't call me and say we will come back out. It's getting old and I am beyond satisfaction. OK? Things should be done right the first time. No big deal to come back and treat treat treat as throwing around pixie dust is pretty cheap with pest control techs that refuse to wrinkle their pressed pants by actually getting in the tight areas where pests are. good gosh I can't wait for this "contract" to be over, I think 2 more quarterly "parks their truck in my driveway with the AC running" should close out the contract. If they try to automatically renew me through some trickery we will be in court so fast....it won't even be funny. I still am reeling about the lies and promises thrown out in the initial door to door salesman that pressured us into the contract by begging and complained to my homeowners association. Really unprofessional sales of desperation and the service dictates the economy and quality of work -POOR!. The girls that call are nice I just feel bad for them they have to clean up all the junk and mess their techs leave behind. Gosh this can't end soon enough, I am thinking of paying off the contract and putting up "no trespassing" signs and ending this silly little nightmare of pest control "service".
Description of Work: Technician left a slip of work that said "dewebbed" granulated, power sprayed treated crawlspace - as usual they called and scheduled when we are not home - we have called and complained in the past and they don't show up or you never know they are there as they leave a slip on the door. One time the tech claimed he treated the yard and it was snowing out.!! I knew they were coming today so I went out and inspected the areas last night before the treatment.

We certainly strive to provide a high level of service as our overall grade on Angies List supports as well as all other review sites (google, superpages, yahoo, BBB etc.) As far as the treatments that were or weren't done, your normal service should have included dewebbing the eaves of your home, granulation of your yard, foundation power spray and inspection of yard. The product used in the crawlspace on previous services has a long residual and therefore is unnecessary to treat each quarter. While we appreciate the observation of our employees being clean cut with pressed uniforms we are certainly not "afraid" of any area that needs to be treated or inspected. All of our technicians are properly trained to inspect and treat all pests that we warranty for. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you. We are not above making mistakes, and we sometimes make them. However, we will correct them and make things right as soon as they are brought to our attention. You will be receiving a call from our office to make sure that we can resolve your concerns in a manner that is satisfactory to you. It took a few treatments but the bugs seem to be under control and the spider webs have abated... We have had a couple of recurrances of "bug sign" but Moxie came right back out when called.
Description of Work: Pest control - for ants and spiders... They even treated an area where there was a yellow jacket nest in the gorund... I really like the additional service where they clean the spider webs and other bug crud from the exterior eaves and soffits - and under our porches.

Initially I thought the service went well. As I had no problems in the beginning, it was preventative anyway. When I found evidence of mice in my garage, they came out and identified the issues, placed traps, etc. They came out again and placed bigger traps outside the house. They've done similar for some ants I had seen. All was good till Monday. Now I've brought some plants into my house and their soil was evidently infested with fungus gnats. The problem has rapidly gotten worse. I'll have 50 dead gnats in my bathtub every day. It's gross. I had a lightbulb burn out and found hundreds of dead gnats in the bulb housing. After trying some suggested home remedies and not getting very far, I called Moxie for help. They politely informed me that gnats, among other things, were not covered in their service. They gave me their excuses why not, and pretty much sent me on my way. Now I'm still paying for "pest control" while I'm infested with pests. All I can say is - read the fine print!
Description of Work: Moxie Pest Control sprays the outside perimeter of the house and knock down spider webs quarterly. Additionally, they'll set mouse traps, etc, as needed. They offer as many repeat visits as requested free with a quarterly subscription. I've been paying $99 every 3 months plus a $69 initial fee since May 2012.

We were happy to see that all of our communication has been prompt and polite. It is unfortunate that you are having problems with fungus gnats inside your home. As stated in the review, they came from the plants that were brought inside the home. Gnats are generally brought home when the plant was purchased. When the initial contract was initiated the list of pests that were treated was clearly listed in the middle of the agreement. Our goal is to provide the best pest control service possible, this is why we are clear in the beginning about what we can and cannot treat. The service is for structural pests, pests that enter a structure on their on. If the plants are taken outside the gnats will disappear. There aren't very many effective treatments for fungus gnats which is why we don't treat for them. We do not want to treat anything that we cannot warranty and ensure will be gone from your home. That being said, we want you to feel like you have a pest control company that is on your side. I will have our Service Manager follow up and see if there is anything at all we can do to make sure those annoying gnats are out of your home. We will do whatever we can to help. The MSDS on the chemicals used show them to be pretty toxic. Always a concern.
Description of Work: They send a different technician for every service. There's always a long wait when you call their service telephone number. Most technicians are pleasant and professional but I prefer the same one each time. My first service was rocky. They left both gates for my fenced in backyard open putting my dog in danger of getting out. My dog usually goes out the back door & I can't see the gates from the back door. I happened to catch it but it would have been easy to miss and my beloved golden retriever could have gotten hurt. They noted my records an the oversight has not been repeated.

The large majority of our customers like having several sets of eyes inspecting their property because it makes it easier to keep their homes pest free. Just call our office and request your favorite technician. As far as the chemicals we use, they are the exact same chemicals used in all hospitals and day cares. They are the top of the line products in the industry, meaning, they are the most effective while still remaining pet and family friendly. We would also like to apologize for your gates being left open on your initial service. We strive to be excellent in all aspects of our service, and sometimes the technician accidently doesn't shut the gates hard enough, and for that we are very sorry and relieved your dogs were ok. Again, please contact us about having the sames technician treat your home each time. It seems that the other services have gone well and hopefully moving forward we can have the opportunity to improve our service to your home. Thanks for your business.

The only thing I didn't like about them was the door to door sales although the young man so was nice and professional I did try their service. I have used different exterminating companies and they are the most professional by far. They always call before coming to make sure there are no special areas that need to be done. I have called them in between visits and the came out the next day. Their techs are always very professional and courteous. The office staff is very nice and extremely easy to work with. I have recommended them to friends.
Description of Work: I have them come every quarter. They do the outside of the house out as far into the yard as I request. They always get down any nests or cobwebs.

A representative from Moxie, either a sales associate or actual exterminator, came to our door unsolicited even though we have a "No Soliciting" sign at the entrance to our subdivision. He told us that we were entitled to a pest control treatment for $99 which was regularly priced at $178. When my wife asked if he could leave a brochure or some paperwork for us to look over she was told that the Moxie employee didn't have anything he could leave. He then explained that this was our only opportunity to get the sale price and that if we called the main office later, we would not be entitled to receive the discount. My wife said that we would think it over and he could contact us later. He left us with nothing more than the contract for service, which provided no information about what pests they would be spraying for, or how long the service would last. When the Moxie employee returned a few hours later, he was told that we weren't interested in purchasing service from Moxie. His response was, "Well, we are spraying Miss (Next door neighbor's name redacted)'s house... and if we do that, and we don't spray here, all the bugs are going to infest you house." He also saw our young child and immediately blurted out, "Our spray is totally safe for children." But couldn't provide any documentation to prove this fact. This type of scare tactic salesmanship is both disgusting and insulting. I will never use this company, and plan on telling all those that I know about their obnoxious tactics.

The Moxie representative that was at your home was only there because we were treating several people in the area and was trying to fill gaps in the route for the next day. He was quoting a sale price because of the money it would save the company by not having to travel out an entirely separate day. He wouldn't leave a brochure because he was trying to only fill spots for the next day, not any time. If a contract was indeed left at the home, there is a sizable list of every pest that we cover in our normal service plus a list on the back of the contract listing every chemical we would ever use to treat a customer's home. Each technician when they come to perform a service has a MSDS book that has the label for every chemical that will ever be used. On each label there is any and all information pertaining to that product. If the contract was left, this is easily found on the internet to find out how family friendly our products are. It is always easier during the busy summer months to treat everyone in a neighborhood at the same time even if that means that we issue a sizable discount to completely fill a route. We apologize for any inconvenience that the representative caused the member or his family, we wanted to make sure all of the neighbors were aware of why we were treating so many houses and generally when we are filling a route people are happy to take advantage of a discount simply for living in that area. You are welcome to contact our office at any time for any credentials or licensing information. Those are kept in our office as the law requires and not out in the field with our employees. We will be sure to read this to our representatives and make sure they are more courteous while knocking on someones door.

They are excellent. The technicians are very very nice and very pleasant. We have seen maybe one or two bugs in the past year and a half that we've been working with them. We have water bugs and we saw one in the bathroom, and they came out right away and resprayed. If you find a bug after they've treated, they'll come out and retreat for free. The prices are very fair. We are going to renew our yearly contract. This summer will start our third year with them.

They have always been good to remember that it's time for your next appointment and to call and schedule one. They have never missed or been late for one. Anytime you have a problem between a appointment all you have to do is call and they will send someone out within a couple of days and they don't charge anything to come.
Description of Work: For pest control I used Moxie Pest Control.They came and knocked on peoples doors in the neighborhood and I had a ant problem at the time so they came in to treat the house. I have been on a quarterly service plan with them for like four years.

They were very good. They do a lot more service than what others did.
Description of Work: We used Moxie Pest Control for pest control. They clean the cobwebs and they go around the house and make sure all the spider webs are knocked down. They also do flea and tick control for the yard for our pets.
