They were from Angie’s List. My overall experience was excellent. He solved some problems instead of having to order huge pieces. He was very economically minded. He could fix something without having to replace it and he did that. He was very informative of making the changes.

Pat arrived on time, tested our well water and explained why our old single tank system was no longer effective. He explained how the Kinetico two tank systems work and the advantages of the demand control systems over our existing timer control system. Pat explained our options in clear and easy to understand language. Andy did the install a few days later. He removed or old system, explained how the new system operated. Andy was friendly and easy to work with and left the garage clean and neat. I highly recommend this company.

I am so grateful - as of today my water is clean and no longer stinks! When we moved into our current house, it had been vacant for a while and we immediately noticed that the water smelled really bad and then the rust stains in the toilets and sinks became impossible to remove! We started researching water systems and contacted a couple of local businesses including Advanced Water Systems-Kinetico. Pat called on us for the initial consultation, checked the old system, tested our water and discovered the hot water heater was rusted out. He sat down with me and reviewed all of his findings, made some suggestions and then put together a very thorough quote for us to review. Once my husband reviewed everything, I asked Pat to call him and answer questions for him, which he did and our decision was made. Pat quickly got our work scheduled and the tech, Mike, came today and completed all the work. He didn't even stop for lunch, so he could be sure to have the job completed so we would have clean, hot water by dinner time! Mike was very professional, detailed oriented and cleaned up after himself. Thanks Pat and Mike for helping us to have great water!

We worked with Pat, as had many others in our neighborhood. He was great and never tried to oversell us. There was no pressure to buy, even though we had already decided before our first appointment with him. He presented all their different options, and has never tried to upsell us. Pat's son was our installer, and he was equally friendly and professional as his father. We've had the system for 3 months and are very pleased with it. Our skin is no longer dry and scaly; our sinks, bathtubs, faucets, etc are easier to clean. It was definitely money well-spent! We just had a follow-up appointment with Pat to check the system, do a water test, and answer any questions. As always, he was very helpful.

We are very happy with the services and our interaction with Mike Burch. From the first contact by email, we felt we were in good hands. We are having our water softening system installed tomorrow, and I will update my review after we have used it for a few weeks. So far, we are highly impressed with Kinetico's services. UPDATE: Now that we've had our Kinetico water softening system for a few weeks, I wanted to update my review. We LOVE this water softening system. No more rusty stains in the tub or toilets, no more brown, slimy sediment in the cat's water dish, and best of all, the awful hard water buildup on my hair is going away! I am confident that we made the right decision in purchasing this water softening system, and not just because of the improvements that were immediately noticeable, but also because in the long term, we know we are saving our appliances from further damage from scale and slime that were already building up due to our hard water. I also know that if we have any problems or concerns, the Kinetico folks are just a phone call away (real people--not answering machines!). We have already been contacted twice to see how things are going. This is what I call fantastic customer service.

I spoke with Pat about our orangish red water. He came by, tested our water (no charge), and shared the results with me. He recommended a 3 stage filtration system to remove the iron from the water. Andy promptly came out a few days later and installed the system for us. It took about 5 hours total. After purging the water in the house, I am extremely happy to report we have beautiful crystal clear water. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and for a job well done!

Pat Smelik of Advanced Water Systems (AWS) came out on 1Feb2013 and went through a full set of water tests and made sure to ask about our water provider and the water system in our house. He made sure to ask about what we wanted, how many people lived in the household and made sure that both my wife and I were involved and could ask any questions we had. He even waited around for another 20 or so minutes for my wife to get home so that she could see the options and ask any questions in person. While they were willing to install the system in the following days after the estimate and order, they were willing to schedule it for the following Friday. The installation and plumbing changes were all performed in-house and not contracted out to another company, which I found quite accommodating. It meant that if anything were wrong, then I would only have one company to deal with and there wouldn't be any finger-pointing between companies while I was still left with a problem. After the install, the AWS crew cleaned the work area up quite nicely and spent the time to go over the system and the maintenance that I should expect. They also made sure to show me the rock salt that they used and explained why they chose it and where they purchased it from. They also made sure to leave one of the empty bags at the softener/filtration unit as a reminder since it is about every 2 months that I need to check the salt level. After a year now, we are about ready for our first R/O filter replacement and we will have AWS come out and perform that maintenance and show us how to do it in case we wish to do it ourselves. Lastly, they worked with us on a billing plan so that we could pay it off based on our expectation of finances. This was the only piece that we ended up having issues with. The plan was for 6 months of payments with a full payout at the end of the 6-month period. The bill for the payment that I expected to receive a request for the remaining balance, it was for the normal 6-month rate. This was easily remedied after a short call with their offices where the office manager and I quickly went over the situation and how to complete closing out the account. But, it was a minor inconvenience that I did not expect after all of the other outstanding service. I highly recommend AWS to install a Kinetico system and have to a number of my friends and co-workers and look forward to our next maintenance. ==== Addendum Aug2014 ==== For the filter replacement, Greg arrived early and removed his shoes before entering my house which was very appreciated. He was quite clean from his previous appointments that morning but was kind enough not to chance tracking dirt into my house. He was very courteous and upbeat and appeared quite happy to hear that I was interested in how to replace the filters. I already had the cabinet under the sink cleaned out and we got right to work. He explained how the filters were arranged, made sure to go over the Purefecta filter and make sure that I knew that we didn't have to change it except for every three filter changes. He also explained the membrane filter and that it was warrantied for 10 years but that they expect them to work for the lifetime of the system and that he hasn't had to change one in his years working for AWS. Greg explained how much water to expect to spill out when changing each filter and how to do so quite easily. He asked me how the system was doing and if we were happy with it and I explained how much use we were putting it to and how happy we are with the system and the little maintenance we have to perform to keep it up. He cleaned up the system nicely and made sure that the new filters were flushed before packing up. I asked how to handle payment and he let me know that the office would send me a bill and nothing was at the time of the service which I found quite convenient and look forward to a better experience as noted in the AWS's reply to my original post. I continue to experience great service from AWS and still would highly recommend them to install and now maintain a Kinetico system.

The initial explanation of services was very thorough and professional. Installation went very well. The water was previously awful. Typical AQUA well water. Now it is great both for drinking and bathing. The cost of this system is a lot but it is wonderful to have good water that doesn't stain everything and tastes great.

Fantastic - Andy (service rep) called use early saying he could stop by sooner than our appointment. He arrived within the time he specified on the phone, took a quick tour of our existing system and access to the pipes in the crawlspace. Very polite. Had the old system removed and new system running very quickly. Did a fantastic job explaining how it operates, how to change the filter, when to add salt, how to by pass the tank mechanism (for filter changes) and what all the gadgets did. I had even shut down the wrong pipe initially causing some water spillage in the garage (where the new system is located) and Andy helped get things all dried out for us. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE GUYS - great product and great service.

We moved into our house a few months ago and had to do something about our brown iron water. It was making our laundry brown, leaving rings in the toilet bowls and shower tub and walls. We had to drink and cook from our refrigerator filtered water which we realized was not as pure or cost effective in the long run. Pat came for an initial visit to test our water and make recommendations. I watched him use his elaborate test kit to figure out what sort of filters needed to be used to attain clear water. We then sat down for a very informative hour and he explained everything in detail from the scientific findings and results (My wife was a science teacher) to what needed to happen for the water to clear up. We discussed options and costs, under no pressure, without committing to anything until my wife and I had a chance to talk. After consulting with 2 other filtration companies we decided to go with our first and best choice and give Pat a call to go ahead with the work. By the way, this system does not use electronic components and can be tweaked according to the water consumption and demand.. There is a possibility that we may have to add an additional filtering unit at a later date, if necessary, once we see how this is all working in the next few months. We found Pat to be punctual, very knowledgeable, friendly and comfortable to talk to. Since this is a family business, we also met Pat's son, Jamy, who came with another worker for the installation. At my request, the outside faucets were re-routed and bypassed in order to filter the house water only. We had a follow-up visit with Pat a couple of weeks later in order to check and go over any information or concerns. It's been almost 3 months and all is well compared to the previous local store filter I had to change every 2 weeks.

These guys are very professional, it started with Pat showing up and explaining what my options were in regards to my hard water. He also had reference customers and past completed projects which he illustrated the various challenges the customer was facing and the custom solution which fit the project. Our assigned plumber was punctual and very neat in regards to job site. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking to correct any water issue.

Great! Gene came out and explained what Kinetico could do for us, tested our water and made suggestions. He gave us several options and worked with us to identify our priorities. He was very knowledgeable on all things water related and was able to explain why we were having some of our issues (staining in tubs, metallic tasting water) and how a water softener could fix it. He offered us several options without being too pushy to get absolutely everything. We decided to go with kinetico since the system is relatively low maintenance compared with other systems and has a 10 year warranty on all parts. Gene's guys came in and installed everything and removed the old water softener which had gone into disrepair and installed a reverse osmosis system. Everything works great! Our water tastes good, our tubs aren't staining anymore and our laundry is coming out cleaner. Gene came out a few weeks later to check on everything and tested the water again and everything is looking good. The system is a little more pricey than some of the other systems but I feel it is worth it. I also appreciated that Gene allowed us to pay 50% and then pay the remaining balance over 6 months with no interest which has helped our budget. I would recommend Kinetico!

Gene arrived promptly for our appointment and did a wonderful job of describing the process of testing our water, why the results showed what they did and how the Kinetico system could help. He answered all of our questions, even impressing my naysayer husband. We opted for the midrange model and it was installed less than a week later in a matter of a few hours. One thing we really like about the system is that it is totally mechanical - no computer circuits to go haywire and no electricity used! It does it's job as promised with much less salt use than our previous hardware store model and takes up less space. Since it was installed Dec. 10 we have not added any salt and it looks like we won't need any for a few months (we were using about 60 pounds of salt per month with the old system). The water is soft, clothes are clean, and my hair doesn't feel like straw anymore! If you are in the market for a water softener, please call Gene and have him out for an estimate. You will not be disappointed!

We researched many systems before going with Gene and ultimately installing a Kinetico system. Gene was very proactive in keeping in touch with us. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He thoroughly explained the system and its advantages and operation. Installation crew was great. They kept us informed throughout the installation process and asked us several questions before the system was installed to ensure we were happy with the location and ultimate operation. While the system isn't the least expensive on the market, it was the right choice for us. I know that we'll be happy with this purchase for many years to come.

Gene Smilek responded promptly to my first Angie's inquiry, scheduled onsite meeting to test water at our home from community well fed system. He is engaging, warm, through and is authentic in trying to get best value solutions out to his potential clients. This family owned regional KINETICO dealer is A+. Andy Smilek was equally professional in making the installation and doing piping changes to tie in the equipment. This firm came highly rated via Angie's List, and still exceeded my expectations. I wish we had found and invested in their system seven years ago when we built our home. We've spent more in repairs to plumbing and kitchen faucets and hot water heaters over that time due to heavy mineral content in our water. Those costs exceed what we've spent with Gene and Andy. Hindsight is 20/20.

All went smoothly with no surprises. A couple of days later when my washing machine would not fill, I called these folks thinking it was due to the softener being installed. They were willing to stop by later in the day to check things out. Turns out it was the cabinet installers who turned off the water and totally unrelated to the softener - but I appreciated their willingness to double check.
