+ -1 moreWent smoothly; he solved problems, did what he said he was going to do, was on time and professional. I couldn't have asked for better service.
Description of Work: My garage door would go up but not come down. It was dragging and needed a new gasket at the bottom. Scheduled a service call for $85; he came out and immediately diagnosed the door issue as a sensor pointed in the wrong direction due to recent garage cleaning. Then, he serviced my garage door so it moved smoothly without dragging. He did not have the parts with him to replace the gasket, so he scheduled an appointment one week later, came and installed the rubber gasket, along with a bracket to hold it, within about 30 minutes. Now garage is sealed from little field mice and the cold, plus stray grass and leaves from the yard service. They did not charge me a second service call to come back and install the gasket, which cost about $100, including the bracket. I had priced the new DIY gasket, and it was going to cost me about $90, not counting the new bracket, so I think the price was fair.

+ -1 moreMy appt time was between 8 and 10am. The technician showed up at 9:45 and was finished with the job at 10:05. The total bill was$170 deducting $10 for my Angie discount the bill was $160. So that is $8 per minute for the 20 min job or $480 per hour. WOW!!The repair guy fixed my garage, I'm very pleased with his work. But $160 for a 20minute job!!! give me or the average U.S citizen a break...good graces. I will definitely shop around for another Garage door specialist.

+ -1 moreI thought the motor had burned out on one of the overhead garage doors because the door wasn't moving and there were wisps of smoke coming out of the motor enclosure before I could get it unplugged. The technician checked it out, plugged it back in and it was working fine. Since he was going to have to charge for a service call anyway, he did a complete check of both that door and our other door, lubricated all the moving parts on both and suggested things we could do for regular maintenance on the doors and the drive units to extend their already impressive 23-year lives.

+ -1 moreThey charged me for the service call. I can’t complain because I called them and they came out the next day and charged me for the call. It wasn’t a very expensive job. It was my fault. I’ve had them out a few times and I’ve been pleased with them. It’s a pretty straight forward service. There’s no fuss and they get out fairly quickly. The technicians seem to know what they are doing. They get the job done. They’ve been very good and very responsive. Their price is reasonable. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Garage Door Repair and Sales Specialist in October 2010. I was unable to close the garage door as the shaft had gotten in front of the sensor.

+ -1 moreMy garage door wouldn't open. I called Garage Door Specialists, who sent Jason out to investigate. Jason was supposed to arrive at 11:00 am, but he came earlier because of a cancelled appointment. He called to let me know he would come early. When I showed him what was going on, he was able to immediately diagnose what was wrong, and he knew exactly how to fix it. I thought for sure it would take all day to fix it, but he had it repaired in about 20 minutes. He then did some more preventive maintenance to help ensure it doesn't happen again. And he gave me a sample schedule so that I know what to do in the future. He was exceptionally professional and well trained. I'm glad he came by to help. I would call this company again if that garage door breaks again, which I desperately hope doesn't happen. But if it does, I know who to call.

+ -1 moreOh, how we love our modern conveniences! How we suffer when they go "BOING, CREAK, and BANG!" Garage Door Specialists had us smoothly rolling at the touch of our eager thumb- to- remote quickly and relatively painlessly. They came promptly the same day as called to release our garage-bound vehicles (free at last, free at last!!) and finished the work in less than an hour. Bob explained the process and offered maintenance tips to help "idiot-proof" me for the future. All in all, Much better than a root canal, and I was able to use my Angie's List coupon, too.
Description of Work: Reset door which had come off track with cable dangling. Repaired blown out roller. Replaced worn bearing plates with 10 year warrantied ones.

I told them about the car in the garage and that we would be at work. They said no problem. Left the garage service door unlocked and car keys hidden in the garage (which it turned out, they didn't need). As promised, after Adam arrived he called with the assessment and price. Called again once he was finished.

He was able to diagnose the problem, and had the parts on hand to complete the repair quickly. He also tuned up the other door at no additional charge, which was great. From the intial phone contact to completion of the work, they were professional, courteous, and thorough. Will defintely use them again.
Description of Work: One of the doors stopped operating, and required replacement of a drive gear, as well as lubrication of the door rails and guide track.

I didn't price it out with other companies, so I don't know if their prices are competitive, but it seemed fair from my limited internet research. I checked angies list for reputable garage door repair companies and found the garage door specialist. I called to make an appointment, received a price over the phone and they came out the following afternoon. The technician was prompt, courteous and completed the job very quickly. He also tuned up my my door a little and permanently mounted one of my door sensors that was propped up, all at no extra cost. The price seemed to be in line with other research I have done, they accepted the angies list coupon, and I am very happy with the work and would definitely use this company again.

He was very clear on the problem and fixed it as promised and performed some basic maintenance. He did identify some potential future problems (it's 8 years old), but didn't pressure about any immediate need for repairs, in fact encouraged to wait until it became a problem. Experience was great. Very professional, cost as quoted. Would use again.

The first day they arrived to conduct the install they were missing a mounting bracket so they were unable to complete the job the first visit. They came back the second day, were missing another part and had to go purchase the piece locally. Everyone I came into contact with was friendly and professional. I was disappointed that it took two service calls and that they didn't apply the Angie's list coupon. (I wasn't present at payment because I couldn't be there for the second service call)

+ -1 moreWas able to set up an appointment that started within 24 hours of my first call. Damon was very polite and professional. He inspected a garage door that would no longer open/close. He quickly assessed it as a short and recommended replacement motor cost at $360. He was able to describe possible alternatives and their cost as well. Whole install took about an hour, and he programmed the remotes for me. He welcomed me to watch and ask questions during the install. Install quality was very good... it looked better than before he arrived. He even programmed the 2nd remote to control both the new motor and our 2nd door's existing motor. + -1 moreSometimes my garage door closed, sometimes it didn't. Sometimes it just jerked back and forth a little. It was very loud in general and it had begun making an awful screeching noise. The technician arrived on time, was professional, thoroughly explained all of my options and gave me a ballpark price range for each. He did the work I requested and explained exactly what he did. He also explained how to do routine upkeep on my own. And told me what I could do myself to further protect my garage door from dry rot. It works smoothly and quietly now. Considering I have a VERY old garage door and had never had it serviced or done anything to maintain it in over 8 years, I thought the price was fair. I will definitely call this company for all future service and/or replacement of my garage door.
Description of Work: The service tech. did a "torsion rebuild," which involved replacing the springs, drums, and bearings. He also did a full maintenance tune-up (checked, tightened, and lubed all the moving parts.)

+ -1 moreGreat, we called on a Saturday and left a message. They called back promptly and we scheduled a time within a 2 hr window for them to come out on Monday and do the repair. When the service man arrived, he looked over the unit, made a minor repair to keep the garage door operating smoothly and left an estimate for a replacement remote unit to be considered at a later date. He did not encourage us to do that repair now, rather he suggested we let the current unit wear out. He did not charge us anything for the service call, the estimate or the work he performed. We have used this company in the past also.
Description of Work: Our automatic garage door would not go down without overriding the safety mechanism. It is an old unit and the wire to the electric eye occasionally goes out of alignment, giving the door a false signal that something is impeding it
