Initial contact very good but after that the weather got bad, an acceptable delay. After that difficulty in getting calls returned...still no work done to date. Hopefully there will be redemption soon.

They never showed up. It took multiple attempts to contact them to schedule the gutter cleaning. On the scheduled day, no one showed up. I finally got ahold of the owner who said that I should have been contacted. His employee quit without notice and that the Angie's List special had generated too much work for his company. I agreed on another day but it was canceled by the company the day before. Given the state of my gutters and the bad winter weather, I contacted another company. E & J offered to come back in a month's time to do the job. I have not called them because of previous experience. Yes, I lost the money that was paid as part of the Big Deal. I chalk it up to experience and "buyer beware". It has made me much more reluctant to sign up for another Big Deal in case another company over promises services. I still use Angie's List to find different companies but decided to negotiate details of the job and payment directly rather than pre-paying for a set deal.

Purchased deal on Feb 26th. Finally got an email on March 6th saying they would email soon to set up an appointment. Never heard from them again.

I had purchased a deal on Angie's List on May 30, 2013, for "Roof Maintenance and Sealing" for E&J Roofing for $149. I had a small leak in my bedroom ceiling and was worried and wanted professionals to look at it, as well as my roof in general. Roofers from the company came June 10, 2013 and told me I had some rot around my chimney and in my gutters and did some repairs and replacement work, and the total came in at $660. Big rains came a few weeks later and the bedroom leak reappeared and got worse, as did a small ceiling leak in the adjoining bathroom. I called and emailed E&J Roofing; two men came out September 27, 2013 and repaired the two leaks without new charges. Big rains came a few weeks later again, and the spots leaked worse, and the gutter spot previously fixed also sported a hole I could see two stories down from the ground. This was in October and November, and I began calling and emailing the roofing company. I've been calling and emailing the company literally for months, and I have not gotten a callback nor a return email. Meanwhile, my bedroom ceiling is worsening as is the leak in the bathroom and the rotted gutter. Yesterday I gave up and contacted a new roofing company; I guess I'm out $660!

They never returned my phone calls. Which was very frustrating.

I first contacted via email attempting to schedule without response, then called, spoke to owner who said he had been sick and would try to get to me by the end of the week, came and went, contacted again the following week same excuse. Called again, left 2 messages without return, then called he answered again stated (unfortunately) his truck had been stolen (which is horrible, I know) but located and was planning to start working again at the end of the week. I called again twice more and have not heard back from him. I do hope all is well and his truck has been returned and he is healthy, but am very frustrated.

It has been 3 months and I have never heard from anyone and I called them numerous times to never them call me back.

Pretty well, although the company had no time to do the job within the promised two days. Wasn't a problem, though, and they also recommended additional work that needed to be done. I'd use them again.

Terrible. Why did I give this provider and F? Because there is no such thing as a G. I purchased a Big Deal for gutter cleaning on December 6, 2013. I gave three suggested days for the service to be performed: Dec 23, Dec 24, or Dec 30. A few days later I received a message from Angie's List asking if the provider had contacted me. I answered "NO". I then got a message through Angie's List from the provider on Dec 11: "Thank you for purchasing the big deal my name is Adam sorry about the delay but we had a very high volume of calls, therefore due to the high call volume, I will be in touch in the next few days to setup an appt. or I can be reached at XXXXXXX again thank you for your patience Thank you Adam " Fine. On December 13 I replied and left my work number so that we could set up an appointment. We have dogs, so I am always at the house when we have work done. I did not hear anything for 10 days. On December 23, I sent a message: "Please contact me with your proposed schedule to complete this service." On December 25, I received a message from the provider: "Mr. XXXX we return tomorrow and my office manager will be going over scheduling and will contact you as to when and what time thank you" I did not hear anything for 10 days, so on Jan 10 I sent a message: "What is going on over there? Are you going to come over here and my gutters or not? It the answer is no, give me my money back." I received a message back: "mr . XXXX we have tried to contact you to schedule if you could please contact Julie my office manager to set up a time she can be reached at XXXXXX thank you adam " Well, that was news to me that they were trying to contact me to set up and appointment. On Monday January 13, I called the phone number to schedule. Nobody answered so I left a message. Never got a call back. On Saturday January 18, my wife found a business card on stuck in the front storm door. "Came to clean gutters. Need to get in the back yard but dogs back there didn't want to get bit." That's why I wanted to set up and appointment! So that I could be here, and keep the dogs inside. On Monday January 20, I tried calling again. Left message, No return call. On Tuesday January 21 called again. Left message. No return call. I also called a second number that was on the business card, and this time got ahold of Adam. Asked him what his schedule was. He said he had been sick. Said he could come out the next day. That was fine with me, because I was meeting with some tree removal guys and I would be at the house. (C&S Tree Services, but the way, was fantastic!) Anyway I have not heard anything from E&J Roofing since Jan 21. When it rains, and I see water overflowing the back gutters, I seethe with anger.

It eventually turned out okay. We had some issues with scheduling and they didn’t bring the correct ladder and they had to come back another time and bring the proper ladder to do the job. All in all we got what we paid for and they did what they were supposed to do. They were pretty fast and got the job done in about 45 minutes.

Purchased deal in Dec and made arrangements to do work in January and never showed up. Has not returned my latest call of Feb 21.

They never came to do the service. I called repeatedly and we haven’t gotten a reply from anyone. I am not happy and so far would not recommend them to anyone.

A disaster from start to finish. They didn't contact me. Then, when Angie's List pestered them, they set a date. And didn't show up. I called. they set another date (with no apologies for missing the previous one). And didn't come. And, believe it or not -- a third date, and -- you guessed it -- didn't come. Then, one afternoon out of the blue, two people showed up, said they were from E&J to clean my gutters. It was the dead of winter. The gutters were frozen. It was a disaster.

After about a week I received an email from them stating they were inundated with calls and would get back to me as soon as possible. Two weeks later I received a message from a Susan with a cell phone number when I tried to return that call the mail box was full. I then spoke to Adam who scheduled an apt, however, then they were a no show no call. I called back and spoke to adam who stated he did not have his schedule with him and to call back next week. I did call back this past week and left him yet another message and have not heard back from them

Adam was apparently overwhelmed with requests for this Big Deal, and was not able to provide the services. Later he responded that he had had to dismiss a couple of his employees, so was having to do the work himself. My only complaint was that I had to initiate the communication, and spent too much time trying to find out if he would be able to complete the Big Deal. Two months later, I requested that Angie's find someone else to perform this task.

It's the middle of February 2014 and the work isn't done. I have called, I have emailed through Angie's List and while Adam responds, he never schedules the work. He directs me to call his office manager who never answers the phone and never calls me back. I would never use these guys for work. Imagine how difficult it could be on a $5,000 roofing job if they can't get their act together on a $59 Big Deal!

The service was fine. However, we did have to re-schedule a few times since they were pretty busy. I called them in the morning of the appointment since the weather seemed uneasy. They said they were still coming out and would be out by 2pm. Once I had got home around that time, they were just finishing up the job. There were two cleaners here working. I have not examined their work but the gutters do seem to be working better.

They did not come at the appointed time. Kept leaving phone messages. They did an o.k. job. Not very professional.

I inadvertently purchased this service through PayPal. I tried to back out of the transaction, but PayPal captured all of my information and completed the transaction without me having to submit or approve the transaction. It was a strange experience on my part. Regards, Ruth Browning

My issue is that no work was done. I thought they would have said these are the critical issues and fixed them up to $300 in material and labor. Instead it was used as a future deduction on much more work.

Very nice service at a great price

They did a good job and it made the services very valuable. The price for the repairs they charged was really good. They got the job done in less than 3 hours. The workers were really nice and they did exactly what I asked them to door. The scheduling was good and they showed up right when they said they would. I got 8 total estimates and they had the best price. We have no problems with the roof since they came out.

Workmanship was poor and no effect to clean up afterwards. No effort to check with owners prior to departure. Workers left house walls covered with dirty.||Would not recommend for any future work . . .

Purchased the deal in early Dec and attempted to schedule. Eventually called and set up appt for 12/30 but did not show. Has not attempted to contact me since the missed appt or return calls. I'm seeking a refund and will find another service provider.

Unfortunately the contractor emailed me a week before Christmas and said they would contact me after Christmas. I was hoping for service before Christmas but had no choice so no problem. I then attempted to contact the contractor via email, voice mail several times and they would not respond. Looking at the other reviews seems like other home owners are reporting the same thing. I hate to write the bad review but I purchased a service and the contractor failed to respond. All they had to do was answer the phone or email and let me know when what was going on. Set my expectations which they failed to do. I requested and received a refund and have since hired a different company who responded and have already scheduled the work.
