Wizard, and a very soothing and confident Jim said he would be over the very next morning ,apologizing that he could not come that instant. Jim Buie was here for hours, faced with a very difficult job of how to fit the big appliances into a 1970's hallway closet. He not only saved me an electrician by using a range cord, but he did not give up until he vented the dryer in such a way that it fit in the closet. He was calm, skilled, professional, kind, and reassuring that we would find a solution. He even offered to go to the store to buy the range cord I needed. When he showed up I did the happy dance. I recognized him since I had him redo the dryer venting several years ago. I had not recalled it was his company that had provided me excellence service then. As soon as I saw Jim I knew all would be well since I then remembered him. Jim was a volunteer fireman for many years. I know the dryer has been installed perfectly and that all fire safety was paramount. I feel completely safe and more than 100% satisfied. I nominate Jim Buie for the Angie's List Service Excellence Award.

Jim was very punctual and even called me that morning to say he would be arriving at the latter part of the the time window in case I had errands to do. He was very professional and friendly. He first measured the amount of pipe to replace under the crawlspace and then gave me an estimate based on the materials he would use to bring it up-to-code. I agreed on the estimate and he went to work. The work took a little under the 3.5 hours he estimated. He used a two-flap critter-proof exhaust vent that cost a bit extra, but it looks much better that the old one.

It was awesome from start to finish. He came out and spent over an hour doing an estimate for me. He gave me two different options. He then came the following week to install the vent system. He arrived on time and worked extremely hard the entire time. He was here for 4 1/2 hours. He had to work in my laundry room, in my attic, and on the roof. He even worked in the rain. He cleaned up after himself, so there was no mess. He not only installed the vent, he put sealant on it. I am SO happy with his effort and professionalism. He was also very polite.

They were great. They showed up on time and they tried to clean-up the yard. There was a lot of lint. He was very professional and I would use them again.

We employed Dryer Vent Wizard to work on our existing dryer vent, which was the original from when our house was built. We had lint backing-up into the wall space and poor ventilation. The owner is a very friendly and personable man, yet remained professional the entire time. On the initial visit he was not able to start work due to our own schedule conflicts but gave me a written estimate and also performed a thorough cleaning of the dryer itself, taking it apart to vacuum out all the lint. When he returned for the main job he was able to replace the eye-sore of our existing dryer vent connection with a professional looking, sealed connection system. He replaced most of the vent run itself, which was no easy task as it has to go up through the wall and then the ceiling before getting outside! And he replaced the cap on the outside with a new one, even sealing up the vinyl siding he had to cut. The owner showed us how with the old vent run we had very little airflow, and with the new setup we had something equivalent to 20MPH flow! We're very happy with the work done and would use him again, :)

While Jim was very sympathetic and did spend time with me, he was unable to determine what I later learned on my own - that the dryer (despite being in the second floor laundry room) was being vented directly downward into the crawl space then across it, so that there was almost 40 feet of dryer vent (which explained the poor performance). He advised me to route to the roof and that I needed a contractor. Said he would try to find one and that was the last I heard from him. An Update: Jim was professional enough to come by to refund the cost of the service and apologize for not following up with me after the fact. This was entirely unsolicited and obviously speaks well to the man and his principles.

Jim was very professional and courteous. Every detail of the job was explained before work started and was provided with a detailed quote. The work was completed as agreed upon and he cleaned up everything nicely before leaving. I am very happy with the job.

The serviceman was professional, friendly, and skilled. He explained everything in detail, then did a thorough job replacing the broken vent hose and cleaning the vent tube for the dryer. He also cleaned up completely before leaving.

Wow. Jim is amazing. He could not clean the dryer vent because it was an old, 32 foot long piece of plastic flex tubing. It needed to be replaced with solid metal ducting in order to be up to code and "cleanable." He was a great communicator up front about the situation he expected to find in my older town home and how he would complete the work. On site he was prompt, courteous, and highly competent. He made the fewest drywall cuts possible, worked quickly, and left the area immaculate. I could not have been more impressed. What a treat.

Tech arrived at the agreed time; was very friendly and responsive, knowledgeable and efficient. Left area spotless when done. Definitely will use him again to clean dryer vent!!

Jim was friendly and courteous. He did a thorough job of installing new hose to replace my poor-quality broken hose. He made sure that the air flow of the dryer was optimal. I highly recommend him and I would hire him again.

Everything went great. Jim is super polite and courteous. Was a pleasure to have around during the work. He and his wife completed the work in good time even though a thunderstorm came near the end of the work and his wife was outside when that came finishing up the outside vent. Work was done only 2 days after initial contact. I'll probably never need another dryer vent drilled into my house, but if I absolutely had to, I'd call DVW of NENC again without hesitation.

Next day service. Jim was very polite, professional and courteous. He explained everything he was doing along the way. He first inspected the hoses on the washer and told me they were in good condition. He then began the inspection of the dryer and dryer vent - first in the house, then under the house and all along the vent. After inspection and finding out how much pressure and temperature my dryer was putting out, he told me I could probably get by without cleaning at this time and could wait a year or so. The trip so far would only cost $39. If I wanted it cleaned, it would add $125. But if he cleaned it, I wouldn't need to clean it again for another 2-3 years. I decided to take advantage of the fact he was already here and have him clean it. He thoroughly cleaned everything, from the inside lint collector and hose, disconnecting it from the dryer, to cleaning it on the outside from the vent opening at the house. I am very satisfied with his work and will use him again.

He is owner operated. It was a very good service. He was on time and waiting for me to get back home. Very cleaned and courteous.

Words cannot express the above-and-beyond nature of what these folks did for me. As soon as they left, I happily ran my first load of laundry in quite some time, only to find that the washer was somehow causing flooding. I called him, fully expecting to hear "it must be coincidence - we didn't touch the washer," and instead found him back at my house, late on a Saturday afternoon, fixing the problem that was in all likelihood caused by a long-ago contractor, not by him. At no charge. This may sound dramatic, but it kind of restored my faith in humanity.

Bought a new dryer and when delivered, realized I still had old plastic tubing going into the metal ductwork in the crawl space. Company is located a good distance from my home, but still considered our town in their service area. Response was very friendly and professional with appointment made according to my availability. Jim arrived at the appointed time having called earlier to verify his arrival time. Dryer is in the middle of the house. Vents were originals, so I had everything replaced. The outside vent has double doors so no critters can get in and blends into the grate much better than the old vent. Jim explained each step of the process, showed me the materials he would use and explained why and reviewed the work and test results with me when everything was completed. The work area was cleaned up (even put the dog bowls back in place). I am very pleased with the quality of work and price.

The person who did the work was very informative. So far the system had no problems since they have repaired it.

Jim arrived within the hour window given to me from Dryer Vent Wizard and he even called to tell me approximately what time he would be at the house. He gave me the estimate first and after I signed off on the services, he began cleaning lint build-up out of the dryer vent. He was very courteous, prompt and I was happy with the results. The contractor had something kind of sloppy, and it wasn’t venting property, and when they did that they also cleaned up the entrance way into the house.

Jim came out to check/service my dryer vent. In 22 years I had never had it checked. I was concerned about a lint fire since it had been so many years since I had replaced my first dryer and gotten a gas model. When I got the gas dryer, the service/installation technician left the dryer fairly far from the outside wall using several feet of unneeded venting pipe. Also, the foil vent material is what I had back there. Jim replaced the old foil stuff and shortened the vent system moving my dryer and washer back about 8 inches. He also suggested replacing the outside standard vent with a double door style that is flush with the house. It works beautifully. One thing I notice on the cold days is that the dryer and laundry area are not as cold. I think a lot of cold air was coming inside the house from the old vent flap staying open so much. Jim was very thorough and professional. Now my vent meets code, the dryer works well and I feel safer.
