Carl was very responsive, calling me back the same evening I sent him a note of inquiry. We made an appointment and Carl arrived exactly as he had scheduled. He had the equipment he needed to do the repairs and replacements. We knew he would have to cut the ceiling to figure out the leak there so were expecting it. Carl was great about replacing insulation as he looked over everything to identify what was happening and get it addressed. When he presented the bill, we were pleasantly surprised given the array of things we had addressed and the time and materials required to take care of them all. Very, very good service. We were very pleased and will call again with our future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: We had several items that needed addressing including the replacement of one outside water spigot, repair of another, a repair to the kitchen sink, and identifying the source of a small leak from the second floor to the kitchen ceiling below.

I called CK Plumbing on Thursday night and reported that our toilet was leaking. Chris offered to come out that night. I said tomorrow would be soon enough and he said he would be there about 8:30-9:00 in the morning. He called about 8:30 and said he would be here about 9:00. He put "booties" on his feet to protect our floors. He fixed the toilet and valve and also tightened the faucet on our kitchen sink. He was here for only about 30 minutes. Chris was very friendyly and efficient.

I recently had new countertops and a new sink installed by a different company. Chris came out to install the drainage and a new faucet for me. On the phone he quoted me $75/hour plus materials. With this type of job it is difficult to know ahead of time how long it will take (depending on how well the old pipes match with the new). When he arrived, he estimated about $200 and had blocked off enough time for me to finish the job. He was very punctual (early, in fact), professional, and genuinely personable. I enjoyed making small talk with him. The experience was positive except for two things. He finished the job (more on this below) after an hour and a half but still charged the $200 quoted when he arrived - well more than the $75 / hour. This seemed OK with me though as he had blocked that time on his calendar to be able to finish a what could have been a potentially bigger job if needed. The drain piping went great and I have zero complaints there. I had a small issue, however, in that a small washer of my new faucet was missing. Chris said he couldn?t finish the job without it as the seal would leak and left the job with a situation in which I would be ferrying water from my bathroom for the next week until the small washer arrived. He tried to find one on his van, but didn't have one. He said to call him when it came in and he would come back to install it. He said that he would cut me a deal and come back out for only $50 rather than the $75 typical. Having installed faucets myself a few times before, a couple of things he said didn?t add up to me. He said ?no washer, no faucet? and that he didn?t want to ?flood? my house by connecting without this piece. I asked if I could run to a plumbing supply store and buy the part so he could finish the job and he said that they didn?t sell those parts individually. He said no as they didn't sell these washers. It seemed odd to me that a $.25 plastic washer could fail and you would to buy a whole new faucet as Chris explicitly said that you would. Second, the faucet was a built-in sprayer type. The hot and cold water come in, go through the valve operated by the handle, and then into the joint with the missing washer. Therefore, unless the water was actually running, there could be no possible leak (and no ?flood?). Second, while I understand that connecting the two water tubes without the missing washer (which goes inside the joint) is not ideal, it?s a far cry better than carrying water in from the bathroom for a week. After Chris left, I crawled under the sink, applied a bit of plumbers tape, and screwed together the connection in less than 10 minutes. No leak whatsoever. I agree with Chris that this might start dripping eventually and is not optimal, but don?t understand why he left me to carry in water for a week rather than deal with a very minor drip until my part arrives via mail. Surely making the connection in a suboptimal way is the better approach. Not sure what all that talk about a ?flood? in my kitchen was about. On the whole, I?d rate my experience as neutral. I found Chris likable and the work he did competent. However, I?d probably go with someone else next time.
Description of Work: I bought a new sink with my new counter-tops (from a different company) and Chris Installed a new faucet, reconnected my disposal to a new sink, installed a new sink basket (though not the fancy one that came with my spiffy new sink), and reconnected my drain pipes.

Response from CK's Plumbing & Backflow LLC
The faucet the homeowner purchased via the internet was missing a necessary component which had to be specially ordered because it was manufactured in a foreign country. I attempted to install the basket strainer but upon inspection, realized it was cheaply made and would likely leak. After consulting the homeowner, he agreed to install a different basket strainer. I then replaced the drain lines, not reconnected them as homeowner stated. To date, the homeowner has not notified me that the part has come in, but I will still honor the discounted rate to put the part in. I apologize that you were not completely satisfied with the work I did for you. However, I feel my work was performed to the best of my ability and, more importantly, within manufacturer's specifications. I have to be strict on the installation of products because my business and reputation are on the line. I cannot simply "put tape around a pipe until the right part comes in". That is not my way of doing business. The original quote I gave was $200 which included time and materials. The total cost for both was $186. If I had taken more time, or the materials had cost me more than that, the price would still have been $200. Whether it takes one or three hours, I have never gone above a quoted price. As a general rule, I do not leave a customer's house without making sure they are completely satisfied, and this customer was no exception. They offered no complaints, concerns or questions. If anyone is concerned with the work I do, I immediately address it. If I had provided the faucet for this particular job and it came without necessary parts, I would have returned to the job site free of charge, as soon as the part arrived. I take a lot of pride in doing my work properly, and customer service is a top priority of mine. This is demonstrated through the numerous reports I have here on Angie’s List.

I called Chris to fix a leak under the kitchen sink and to connect the icemaker for my fridge. While he was under the house to run the water line, he discovered that the sink drain wasn't connected -- it was emptying into the crawl space! So he fixed that, too. The price was more than reasonable. Chris was pleasant, explained what he was going to do and what the cost would be, and cleaned up when he was finished. I will definitely use him for plumbing in the future.
Description of Work: Connected icemaker, including running water line from under the house; replaced the drain baskets and drain pipes under the kitchen sink; connected sink drain to sewer system drain pipe (see comments section below).

When we bought our home, one of our outdoor spigots leaked behind the wall when absolutely any back pressure was applied. We knew that this was due to poor winter maintenance by the prior owners. The spigot was the farthest away from the crawlspace entry as was physically possible. Chris, the owner of the company, cheerfully mentioned that this was pretty common. The other outdoor spigot also leaked, but from a different spot. When I had initially emailed Chris through Angie's List he had estimated that it might need replacing also. He gave me a rough estimate and we scheduled his service date. The day of our appointment Chris contacted me to reschedule. He had another client who had a water heater emergency and since my issue wasn't urgent he needed to defer. I was thrilled to hear that he was so responsive to the more acute need and felt that this was a good sign that he takes care of his clients. On the rescheduled date, which turned out to be a Sunday, Chris arrived promptly, reviewed the problem, revised his estimate because only one of the spigots needed replacing and the other could be handled with just a repair. I truly appreciated his honesty in that he didn't try to replace something that didn't actually need to be done. Based on this, and his responsiveness to the other customers more urgent need, I'll definitely make him our go-to plumber!!!

We had a leak from the upstairs bathroom, coming through the kitchen ceiling, but we couldn't find the source of the leak. I chose Chris based on reviews on Angie's List and sent him an e-mail. He responded right away, and we made plans for him to come over on Saturday and check it out. He came by around 6 on Saturday evening, opened the kitchen ceiling and located the a crack in the water line to the sink. He replaced the cracked pipe in no time, and could have been done in 15 minutes, but the glue needed to set for 45 minutes, so he waited in his truck until he could test the line. The repair worked great and he was on his way. Overall, we found Chris to be friendly, professional, and honest and we were very pleased with his work and the price. We loved the fact that he was available, willing to work on a Saturday without charging extra, and willing to take on our small job on short notice. We have found our go-to guy for all of our future plumbing needs!

Chris did very professional job at replacing our 40 gallon direct-vent gas water heater. He was up-front about price (which was on par with other estimates), up-to-date about code, and good at explaining technical details about the installation. It's too bad the direct-vent models cost so much more than the others, but it's good to have an honest plumber.

WOW! I didn't think I could get a plumber so soon after the holidays. The first one I called told me, "I'm too busy! Call someone else!". I called Chris at CK's Plumbing and told him it was not an emergency, I could wait but I wanted to get on the calendar. I was stunned when he said, "I'm finishing up a job nearby and can stop over now if it's convenient for you. It shouldn't take too long." He did too, took care of it and was very careful to keep my floors clean while going in and out of the house and cleaned up his work when he was done. This impressed me as much as his speedy, excellent service, being courteous, and his emailed receipt the same evening. He even gave me a few tips on how to save on my water bills. I thought this kind of service had gone the way of the dinosaurs but I know who I'll call first next time.

We discovered our garbage disposal was leaking on a Sunday morning. Called Chris, he said he could come over in about an hour, told us what to buy and where (and for how much) and gave us a quote on the phone. He appeared just before noon, we had the new disposal ready and he replaced it in about 30 minutes, for the price he quoted.

Chris came out to give us an estimate on replacing two exterior spigots--one leaking, one with weak flow--and trying to fix a faucet with low water pressure. He gave us the estimate (which was way less than I thought it would be, since we're on a slab and he was going to have to cut interior walls to replace them) and was able to come back three days later. He was extremely punctual for both, and finished the installation with a minimum mess and had the faucet flowing well in an hour and a half. Great experience overall, and we'll absolutely call him again if we need to.

Visit #1 was an emergency visit after the inlet valve stuck in the closed position after I had drained/flushed the hot water tank. I was very satisfied with Chris' working me in on short notice after normal work hours to restore our hot water, and was pleased with his willingness to take the time to talk with me about water heater replacement and the additional issues he diagnosed during his visit. After deciding to not replace the hot water heater, I scheduled visit #2 to fix some problems that became apparent during visit #1. Chris was easy to contact, showed up on time, and had the job done quickly and well. In particular, I was happy that replacing the inside main water shutoff valve didn't require any drywall work afterward (in contrast to what other plumbers who quoted that job on-site had told me).
Description of Work: Visit #1 (12/13/10): Freed up stuck hot water tank inlet valve. Visit #2 (1/17/11): Replaced hot water tank inlet valve, expansion tank, and water main shutoff valve.

He got right to work and still finished the job right on time using another plumber and electrician. It was a terrible, rainy snowy afternoon bus all of he and his people wore "booties" and were very neat. Most important to me, his final price was exactly as quoted, to the penny. I would recommend this small plumber very highly and very professional. I was very impressed

Chris at CK's plumbing did an excellent job. He was prompt for the appointment, provided an estimate up front, and returned calls promptly. Even though he typically installs State water heaters, he was willing to get a Rheem water heater at my request for the replacement. He double checked for water leaks for leaving and did an excellent job of cleanup after the work was complete. He also explained what maintenance should performed within the next five years to lengthen the life of the new tank. The water heater was worked fine since the install and there have been no leaks. I was very satified with the work that was performed.
Description of Work: CK's Plumbing replaced my Ruud natural gas water heater with a new 50 gallon Rheem gas water heater. Chris was very knowledgeable about the appliance and installation procedure and maintenance requirements of the various parts of the gas water heater. He removed the overflow tank and put in a new one, and at my request, purchased an overflow pan and installed that also with no additional installation charge.

I highly recommend CK's Plumbing. I needed to replace my water heater. I found the website and called on a Sunday afternoon. I was surprised to get the owner, Chris, on the phone. He gave me a very reasonable quote, gave me an appointment for the next day and confirmed the quote in an email. He saved me over $200 from what the big plumbing company in town wanted to charge. The next day he arrived a few minutes early. Within 1 1/2 hours I had a new hot water heater. Chris was careful about protecting my property and cleaning up. He even told me he would recycle the old hot water heater and the box that the new one had come in. He showed me how to operate and maintain the new unit and answered all my questions. He reminded me to register the new unit with the manufacturer so that the warranty would run from the date of installation, rather than 6 mos. earlier, when the unit was manufactured. Overall, Chris was easy to deal with, was responsive by phone and email each time I contacted him and he had a great attitude. I would not hesitate to call him again.

A previous neighbor of mine recommended CK's Plumbing and Backflow to me a few years ago. Since first working with Chris he has continued to prove himself to be a high quality professional. Regardless of the job's size, Chris has remained loyal to me as his customer. Earlier this year I noticed a hissing sound coming from my hot water heater in the attic. I called Chris late in the evening and he quickly came to the rescue that night. Considering the time of day, I expected it to be an expensive call but I felt I was charged a reasonable rate for an emergency fix. Chris and I later reviewed options for a permanent fix (at the time I had two hot water heaters linked together). I found Chris to be very knowledgeable about the options including both tank and tankless options. I personally decided to replace both my hot water heaters with one larger tank option and it was installed satisfactory. As mentioned, I appreciate Chris' loyalty to his customers. With fair pricing and reliable service he is always worth a call!
