Description of Work: Asked for an estimate for a replacement HVAC system. Sales person came to house and discussed a 2-zone system and followed up with a proposal. Talking with two other bidders, I learned that the proposed system would not work. There were too many automatic dampers proposed. I informed the sales person, Scott Porter, who promised to propose a workable system. I never heard from him after that. I am very disappointed with this company which is rated highly by Angie's List

Description of Work: My air conditioner was working, but not blowing cold air.

Description of Work: Our system was almost 20 years old. We had limped through this past summer fine after a service call by Air Experts for the AC unit last year. The service rep suggested that the best time to upgrade was in the fall when normal business demands are lower. We called Air Experts for an estimate and the rep was there in just a few days. He investigated what we had presently installed. He asked all the questions he needed to provide us with the size of unit we needed for our type of house. He did not recommend the most costly, only what we needed. He showed us the total product line and permitted us to ask questions about each unit. We decided it would be to our benefit to move up to the next higher SEER unit as we felt the unit would not have to work as hard at an additional cost of $1200. There were more rebates for the more expensive unit. He told us that with today's technology, the upgrade was not necessary but we stayed with our decision. We could also have chosen a cheaper unit. We signed a contact to have the furnace (gas) and AC replaced as a matched unit. He told us it could be done in one day. They used the same ducting that our house had previously installed. He called the office. They had the equipment in stock. The job was scheduled for the next day. They were finished by 1 PM. He recommended a thermostat replacement that is internet capable through our wireless network. We can set the temperature to a more efficient value when we leave for a day or ??. When we are ready to come home, we can connect to the thermostat via a mobile app and set the schedule back to normal so the house will be comfortable when we arrive back to our home. We love this. We had scheduled for another dealer estimate. We had made our decision. We called and canceled that one.

Description of Work: Unit was not cooling. Called Air Experts after seeing them recommended on Angie's List. I purchased the diagnostic offer for $39.00. Tech arrived on time. I confirmed with him the charge of $39.00 for a diagnostic. He agreed. He stated unit was just 2 pounds low. I asked how much per pound. Cost was $161.00 per pound. I was stunned. I told him I had 12 heat and air units and I have never paid over $90 per pound and that included the labor and trip charge. Coolant normally cost $40-$50 per pound. My renter was miserable, she has 2 small kids and she had been on a plane all night and needed to rest prior to going to work. I shared my disgust with this act of overcharging/pricegouging. I told him to do it in order to help my renter and secure in the feeling it was fixed. He then stated that I needed a capacitor replaced due to rust. That would be $197.00. I told him I would do that later, most likely next month. I later found out that item only cost $25-36.00 He then stated that he needed to deice unit in order to put coolant in unit. He said that would be another $124.00. He then told me I needed a another piece replaced and that would be $325.00. I told him no. As I wrote the check he stated that I might have to replace the whole unit. I looked at him and realized I was dealing with a corrupt business. He then handed me paperwork that stated they do not recommend any of this work be done due to age and cost. Not once did he make that comment to me during his repair. I was charged $485.00 for a diagnostic and repair that did not last 24 hours. If I had purchased the other items my total bill would have been $1,007 and it did not last overnight. I ended up replacing unit with another vendor who stated I got screwed.
