Description of Work: We got the Angie's List roof inspection from Howard And Sons Roofing & Remodeling, knowing we had a small leak in our roof which had been replaced by another roofer a year earlier. They came last October, and told me they needed to put a boot around a vent pipe near where the leak was. Matt told me his guarantee was for a year, and to call if the leak reappeared. First snow - voila, there was a leek again. He cleared the area of snow and told me the other roofer hadn't done the job right. A couple of months later they finally found the other roofer had, indeed, done the roofing wrong, he had put the flashing through the side of the joint of the rooflines and was "channeling" the water directly into the house. We hadn't noticed it until we had the snow and one gully-washer rain storm. Matt quickly got that resolved. | |We talked about some renovation of our bathroom when he initially replaced the boot. He gave us a quote to gut the bathroom and redo it. We would supply the materials and he would perform the work - he estimated a day or two. He also replaced the kitchen floor, and had to tear one side of the kitchen apart to repair the water damage. He also remodeled the guest bathroom where the leak seemed to originate from. | |We had issues with all the jobs, and basically none of them are complete. The majority of the tasks are where they are tolerable and livable, but uncompleted. | |Some of the work was shoddy, and several projects had to be redone. We had a water leak from the new bathroom when the workman didn't solder a joint properly. The first leak we discovered was on a Friday night. We called and Matt told us to turn off the water main and he would get someone there right away. We called again Tuesday after living with turning the water main on and off when needed. We finally had the workman show up on Thursday, and he corrected the problem. There was a leak again a month later (they were still working on and off) that we discovered on a Friday, we called it in, and we didn't have anyone show up for two weeks. after the two weeks ee hired another plumber who found and resolved the leak in a couple of hours. | |Matt started the job fairly well, and even responded to the first leak immediately with a crew that did clear the snow off the roof as well as stopping the leaky roof. I believe he is a good roofer, but his remodeling leaves a lot to be desired.

Description of Work: I called them on the morning of the appointment. They were unaware of the appointment even though it was on the computer printout. (Blamed secretary). They came right over when I called. Matt Howard said it was too cold to go on the roof as they were afraid they would break the slates. (They made the appointment for March and were informed it was a slate roof.) Took a quick look in the attic spaces. (Loaned them a flashlight.) Matt said they would have to get it straight with Angie's List as to what was included in the "minor repairs." Wish they had gotten it straight before I paid $99. They caulked two nail holes in slate, caulked one ca. 6 inch seam in a flat rubber roof over garage, and (I think) caulked one slate back into place. Wanted to come back and repair 6 loose slates at a later date for $150.

Description of Work: It went well. I was told that I had a broken shingle but I went up there and could not find it. I was also told that there was a problem with a vent and how to fix it. I did that.

Description of Work: I purchased the big deal for the attic fan as I saw it to be an economical way to relieve some of the uncomfortable conditions in the upstairs of the house during the summer months. The contractor contacted me promptly and indicated that the ad on Angie's List was not correct. He explained that the attic fan would not be suitable for all certain types of attics due to square footage and he did not want to install something that would not fix the issue for me. We scheduled a time for them to come and look at my attics and determine my best option. They did arrive as scheduled and look at my attic. They determined that the attic fan I purchased was not the way to go as it would do little to relieve the air flow problem. They offered other suggestions that may be a better option, including the purchase of a second fan. However, due to cost constraints I did not want to pursue that.
