Description of Work: The project was to re-upholster a sleeper sofa and love seat. They first gave me an estimate of fabric and labor based on photos I emailed. Then I visited their office to select and order the fabric and schedule a date for furniture pick up. They called when the furniture was completed and arranged for payment and delivery. The completed furniture was delivered on schedule. I am very happy with their quality of work and the ease of working and communicating with them. And they are very nice people too.

Description of Work: Very polite on the initial inquiry. They were very busy and said they would get back to me. I called several times after that and kept getting put off so I gave up. Everyone I spoke with was very nice and I suppose they just didn't want to do the work and didn't know how to say so. I wish folks in the service industry would be honest right at the beginning so I wouldn't have to waste my time hoping and could get projects completed in a more timely manner.

Description of Work: This was my first experience with Privettes. I asked them to recover two chairs that had been in my family for over 80 years. I was disappointed in their work. These chairs are designed to float in a living room- the ones that make the statement. First off, they did not put any batting in the back of the chairs so you can see the wood framing when standing in the adjacent room. They did not line the fabric up correctly with the buttons they installed. After I paid for my chairs and put them back into the living room, I noticed ripples in the front of one chair that I hoped would go away in time. They did not so I asked for them to correct the problem and they did pick up the chair over three weeks ago. I have not heard from them since and in the meantime through another upholsterer, I've had a sofa and two club chairs picked up, recovered, and delivered back to my home so I feel they've had it a fair amount of time. This is the first time I've ever written feedback and don't like that it is negative but feel the duty to others in case they are expecting top notch work particulalry on family heirloom pieces.

Response from PRIVETTE'S UPHOLSTERY
[Member name removed] brought two chairs to us and discussed the way she wanted them done. Originally the chairs had nearly 15 buttons on the inside back. She wanted us to significantly reduce the number of buttons. Buttons are commonly used in upholstery for multiple reasons. Sometimes they are just decorative, other times they are more functional. Due to the inward curved back of these chairs they were very much functional and used to keep the fabric pulled in place. We were able to do the chairs with only 3 buttons. I took a picture and sent it to her to get her approval and she liked them. However, giving us the artistic freedom needed to do what she wanted she began to complain about the buttons. She wanted to know could we move them up one half inch. Then, she expressed her disappointment that the bottons were not pattern matched. We are quite familiar with pattern matching but don't know of anyone that would have done that with the small Greek Key design that was used. After we addressed the issue that she had with one of the chairs we scheduled a delivery time to return the chair to her. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the time due to my son and daughter-in-law going into the hospital due to the arrival of their first child and my first grandchild. She was a bit upset that we had to cancel and re-schedule and later stated that she had had children also and that "life keeps on moving" seeming to imply that my schedule should not have changed. This is a family business and my family will always come first, no exceptions. After returning to work, we immediately contacted her and scheduled delivery for the following day. We were there on time, my driver contacted me and told me no one was home! I had him wait for 10 more minutes and still, no one came. Having other appointments to get to, I instructed him to go so that the rest of his stops would not be late due to her not showing up at the time we had agreed on. We called her cell number twice during this time and got no response as well. On the second call I left her a message that we had attempted to deliver at the time appointed but she missed it. I let her know that she was welcome to pick her chair up at my office. Two and a half weeks later, she did. We are happy that she has found a new service and we wish them both the best. Description of Work: We had a difficult-to-replace chair-and-a-half ottoman combination. this one had a large storage compartment in the ottoman which is next to impossible to find these days (orig. bought 16 years ago). We saved alot of money by going to a fabric store and finding exactly what we wanted on sale. That saved us over $350 on fabric had we bought through the shop. Otherwise everything was perfect except I could have used the foam fitting to be a little softer. I think this was due to our communication between us. We wanted it "firmer" than what it was - but the original foam was long outlived its life. Other than the fact it came out too firm ... almost stiff ... it looks fine and will last another 20 years. I hope it softens up over the years!

I DID NOT GET THE NAME OF THE LADY WHO DID THE WORK, BUT SHE WAS PLEASANT AND EXPLAINED EXACTLY WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. I HAD EXPECTED TO HAVE TO LEAVE THE CUSHION, BUT SHE INTERRUPTED WHAT SHE WAS DOING AND FIXED IT WHILE I WAITED. SHE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AND I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HER RESPONSIVENESS, QUALITY OF WORK, AND PRICE.

THE ESTIMATE SEEMED REASONABLE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO DO THE CHAIRS MORE QUICKLY IF I BROUGHT THEM IN, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A FEW DAYS LATER IF THEY HAD COME TO PICK THEM UP. THE CHAIRS WERE DONE THAT SAME DAY AND I WAS ABLE TO PICK THEM UP THE NEXT DAY. THE WORKMANSHIP IS NEAT AND THE CHAIRS LOOK WONDERFUL. THE EXTRA FABRIC WAS RETURNED TO ME.
