Description of Work: 15 minutes before a home refinance, the lender "chose" to require a well water bacteria report. As it was a Friday mid-afternoon, trying to get a water sample with a specific sterile container was impossible due to distances. Called large water test lab in Charlotte, who seemed uninterested in my plight. Called Allison at Mullis Well Drilling, who acknowledged the emergency water testing need and said she would help me. She set up a rush pickup the following Monday morning, by changing some of her scheduled appointments. A Mullis employee visited my home, collected water sample, rushed it to water testing lab for results. I got the results the following day as Allison faxed report to me. Had Mullis Well Drilling not been able to "flash and dance" to help me, my loan would have to be recalculated with another group of fees required. Allison and Mullis Well Drilling saved me the headache and fee costs by their outstanding service. Highly recommend them.

Sunday evening our water stopped working. Monday morning I searched for a company that I felt could best handle the problem and decided to call Mullis Well Drilling. I contacted them at 8am Monday in the morning. They promptly answered the phone, politely asked what was wrong and made an appointment for noon. They actually apologized that they had a customer before me. Throughout the morning they called me several times to let me know when they expected to arrive. They finished their first job of they day earlier than expected and let me know that they were on their way The item that was causing the issue was identified in less than 10 minutes. They politely offered to perform a and quot;quick fixand quot; to get the water running for a few more months in case I do not have the money at the moment to pay the $350 to replace the item that was causing the issue. I opted to spend the $350 + labor to replace the faulty item. They had the replacement part with them and in less than an hour, finished the job and took the faulty item so i wouldn't have an issue disposing it. Overall an excellent experience.
Description of Work: Excellent company to deal with. They answered the phone at 8am, Monday and sent someone within a few hours who easily fixed the water issue

Everyone involved from the president of the company to the guys operating the drilling truck were very professional and responsive. I was a little skeptical when they showed up and used rods to and quot;witchand quot; for water, but they found water at the spot that the rods indicated. So much for science. Other than writing the check, the entire process was painless. It was a delight to work with a company that models integrity with their actions.

I called Mullis at 7:30 am on 11/26/2012 even though the office hours start at 8:00 am. Allison answered the phone as friendly and courteous as she could be and said she would have someone at my house at 8:30 am. Michael and Bobby arrived a little after 9:00 am., which I have no problems with considering they helped me that quickly. I explained to them that I was ignorant concerning the well, and they both took the time to explain to me how the well worked before they even got started. Along the way, they explained all situations including best and worst case scenarios along with warnings and possible prices so I could make an informed decision. They did not force me into any decision. They diagnosed the problem and let me know that the pump/motor went bad. They also let me know that this could be the original well which would make it 40 years old, and it looked that bad. They said that they could fix the motor for about $500 dollars but in the process other things could need to be fixed or go wrong which might bring the bill as high as $2,500. These fixes might last between 6 months and 2 years or more because of the age of the well which was starting to go bad. Once all information was obtained, I decided to have a new well dug and completed which would cost about $6,000.00. I called Allison who was so sweet and explained all things clearly to me and the steps to be taken. She emailed me the next step which was signing the contract and applying for a permit. I gathered the information and went to Allison's office. She took the time to take care of the permit for me. The permit was $550 dollars. On Wednesday 11/28/2012, I called Allison for an update. She let me know that she has been pushing the inspector and site detector to get out to our house. Allison called Thursday 11/29/2012 at about 10am that the inspector was completed and site detector should be out this morning. The site inspector showed up at 11:30am, and Mullis (Mike and Kelvin) showed up at about 1:30pm and began to work very diligently. Both guys took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. They stopped at dusk and will be back tommorow. I spoke with Allison at about 1:30pm and gave her a deposit of $2,250.00. Mike and Kelvin returned the next afternoon and completed the job. They answered all of my questions and completely cleaned up after themselves. The water was running great with increased water pressure. Mike and Kelvin showed back up on Monday 12/3/2012 with the inspector to seal the casing which was the last step. The inspector will return in about 1 week to test the water. The remaining payment of $2,310.00 was given to Mike and Kelvin bringing the total to $5,110.00 which was less then expected. This company was just AWESOME.
Description of Work: My water stopped working on Sunday morning, 11/25/2012. After checking my well house, I noticed the pump/motor was not working. I chose to join Angie's list to assist in helping me find someone to come out and look at my well. I chose Mullis after researching, and I have seen their trucks out in my neighborhood. Mullis came out and diagnosed my problem and gave me options on Monday, 11/26/2012.

Allison (owner, runs the business side) did a great job. She handled all the details, provided excellent and thorough follow-up. Mike was able to do the installation without me being home and then came back to show me what he had done and how to check and clean the filter. This is in contrast to the firm who installed the well. They responded that and quot;some wells are just bad.and quot; If you have a well, call Mullis. If you want a well, call Mullis!
Description of Work: Called Mullis to diagnose and solve a contamination problem with our well, used for irrigation. After Mike (service tech) diagnosed the problem, he presented 3 options depending on how far we wanted to go.

I called to set up an appointment for them to evaluate the problem. As in the previous reviews, Allison was extremely courteous, professional and willing to help. Much to my surprise, Allison said someone could come look at our well/pump the same afternoon. Talk about service! That afternoon, the representative from Mullis showed up on time, assessed our problem and gave an estimate. We decied to go ahead and have them do the job. Our experience with Mullis Wells is everyone is courteous, knowledgeable and willing to do what needs to be done. We were extremely satisfied with all aspects of dealing with this company and would certainly recommend them to everyone. It was a pleasure working with them.
Description of Work: We were having problems with the water pressure coming from our well which services our irrigation system. After taking a number of readings (water pressure, water level, etc) and asking me numerous questions about the preformance of my irrigation system, we both collectively agreed the pump needed to be replaced. There were several flaws with the way my well had been set up originally, which contributed to the pump's poor performance. The serviceman recommended that these issues be resolved before installing the new pump. So I contacted an irrigation company who came and assessed the situation and completely agreed with the recommended changes. The following Friday, two men showed up to install a new pump. Again, they were prompt and we think they did a good job on the installation.

Mullis Drilling was called to investigate a problem that had developed over the weekend. This problem consisted of our water pressure periodically dropping to nil. This issue had started as several times a day for a minute at a time on Friday evening and developed to almost constantly nil by Sunday morning. The pump sounded like it was stuttering and the power drainage of the pump was so sever that it was dimming the lights. We called early Monday and they said that they would be out that day. 2 men showed up that evening, after what was obviously a very busy day for them. They didn't look clean and professional, they looked like they had worked and worked HARD all day. Despite this and the late hour, they immediately dove in and started pulling up our pump. It was obvious that it was heavy, unwieldy, and very very deep. These guys went at it with a great will and a sense of urgency . . . we were very impressed! One gent trouble-shooting of the pump while the other did a inch-by-inch inspection of our (looooooooong) pipe. The gent trouble-shooting the pump explained every step, what he was about to do, what he was looking for, what this result would mean as opposed to what that result would mean, etc. He pointed out that 10 years was a common lifespan for a pump, that ours lasted a little longer, was a good make and model, and that our water was exceptionally clean. It turned out that our pump had died of extreme old age, had locked up its rotors, but the piping and connections were in great condition. He discussed price and payment with us, brushing away the issue with it being too late to get the money from the bank with assurances that we could settle it in the morning. He claimed that this was normal as Mullis Drilling was most concerned about fixing the problem right then and there and getting clean water back into our home. We were told to expect a call in the morning and could arrange payment at that point. We would like to point out that the labor cost was what we expected, but the new pump price was about half of what the internet had led us to expect. Our final price, while an unwelcome unplanned expense, was a happy surprise. He and his partner installed the new pump right then and there, added a tiny amount of bleach to make sure there was no contamination, and lowered the pump back in. The pair left, even more tired and dirty that when they had arrived, after making sure our water was running without a hitch. Sure enough, we got a call in the morning from the same cheerful lady that had taken our call for help about 24 hrs before. She gave us several options and was happy to arrange alternatives, such as holding our debit card info for 24 hours so that we could transfer money from our emergency fund to our checking account (we don't use credit cards and don't keep $992 extra just sitting in our spending account). By the way, our yard and well house looked like nothing had even occurred by the time they were done. Very nice clean-up. At every point, this company exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it.
Description of Work: This company investigated a problem with our well pump that was causing inconsistent water pressure. After investigation, they informed us that the pump was locked up and replaced it. It should be noted that our well is very deep and the line to it was not the flexible piping that is preferred, but a heavy and not very flexible pvc pipe.

This report could probably be broken out into several reports because Mullis Well Drilling helped me work through several water issues. I originally used them to chlorinate the well and after 1 year had passed, I decided to have them come out and test the water (approx $120). It showed coliform bacteria and they started working with me on options of how to approach the issue within the well. I decided to go with a UV light (approx $220) after talking with them and with the local health department expert. While installing the light I decided to take the old water softening system out that the previous owners had and had Mullis install a new water softening system which has worked out perfectly. In the midst of all of this water testing, the water showed an acidic level and a calcium media tank was added to the water softening system. For a nominal disposal fee, Mullis Well Drilling took the old system of 2 tanks and disposed it it. What started out as a simple water test, turned into 3 or 4 trips and each time the company was both ON TIME (not 4 hour windows) and always called in advance. Communication is easy with this company and they are both knowledgeable and honest in the way they do business. The end product is safer water and a new water softening system that they can service. The other softening system company does not allow outside service and has horrible reviews on the internet. Prices were extremely competitive on the system, the UV light and the water testing. I hang on to good service providers and I will always use Mullis for any well/water needs.
Description of Work: Well water testing, UV light installation and water softening system installation, follow up water testing for bacteria and overall water quality (pH and minerals)

My home warranty company paid 800 of the total cost and the cost would have been even less if I had not had another plumber do some of the well work first. They came within 3 hours of being called with two trucks ready to work. They pulled up 200 feet of pipe and sub-pump after checking the amperage draw of the pump. The pump was obviously burned up when removed and they installed a new pump with new wire. Then they tested the work of the previous plumber and found the tank he had installed the day before to be defective. They installed a new one and system then operated as designed. They stayed into the evening to ensure the water was running clear and with proper pressure. They cleaned up everything before leaving. Some other people have said and I echo "do not hire a plumber to do anything in your well house call Mullis." They are the are professional, knowledgable and expert when it comes to wells and well repair. I will never call anyone else to work on my well again. The pressure is better now than it was when I bought the house 8 years ago.

Excellent service from the moment I called, Allison went above and beyond to get our chlorination scehduled ASAP so we would have time to get a water test completed prior to closing on the property. They went out and chlorinated the well putting forth extra effort to work with an improperly built well house which made their job more difficult. Communication was prompt and professional; I was pleased every step of the way.

I called the office and then e-mailed the office to set-up the appointment. The woman at the office was wonderful and set the time to match my limited availabiltiy schedule. The appointment time was 9:30 and I received a call at 9:40 saying they were running late. They arrived at 10:15ish and I forgive the tardiness because I live completely across town from Mullis' office. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE APPOINTMENT. Both Kelvin Belk and Brian Price were extremely knowledgable about wells and basically told me exactly what was going on with my well. I had a situation where my irrigation system was overwhelming the capacity of my well. Mullis is the best when it comes to wells. AMAZING THANK YOU MULLIS!!!!
Description of Work: I was having problems with my residential well. Whenever my irrigation system was on, I would loose water pressure inside my house and in some situations the water would shut off completely. Early Friday A.M, we lost all water in the house. I called a few well contractors and most could not commit to looking at our problem that day, or over the weekend for that matter. Mullis committed to having a representative come over and Matt arrived in the early afternoon. After quickly confirming via internet the well pump as the problem, David arrived and together they worked to remove the old pump and replace with a new one. Within 2 hours water service was restored, greatly improving our odds of having a pleasant weekend.

Working with this company was quite the pleasure from start to finish. They are extremely effective with communicating with the customer whenever the need arose by phone prior to coming. They were a delight to meet and have do the work for us. Care was exercised in keeping the areas of the house that they went through neat and clean by asking us for towels and sheets when necessary. They provided written material on the equipment they installed and educated us in how to maintain it. Two days after the work was done, we received the invoice which matched the quote they had given us. Incidentally, they are also the company that had drilled the well when the house was built.
Description of Work: Our first experience with them in person was on 10/10/2006 when they were present and assisting with our well assessment. Prior to this we had several very positive phone experiences with the gal in the office to schedule the appointment. After the assessment was done, they provided an estimate to do the work to repair our problem and also install a water softener which we had already purchased. We quickly received a verbal estimate and a written one followed. We scheduled them to do the work which was performed on 10/25. The work would have been performed earlier but the one item they were obtaining for us was back ordered. Again, the gal in the office kept us abreast of the situation and scheduling. On 10/25 David and Chad arrived on time and installed the UV light, carbon filter and water softener.
