James and his team were very prompt and thorough with their service. He gave me multiple options to choose from and never once felt pressured to go one direction over the other. I received follow-up calls on the day of service and James answered any and all questions I had. Would definitely recommend them for any of your roofing/gutter needs.

I called James back the beginning of August to have him come and recheck the area that the initial work was completed. A "tweak" was made, addressing a location just above the initial repair. James' crew also checked 3 other downspouts for me during this visit, needing to clean one of the 3. When I had not received an invoice for this second visit , I contacted James to let him know. He had fit me into his already busy schedule to accommodate me, as we are putting our house up for sale and wanted various inspections prior to putting our home on the market. James told me to consider his second visit a "tweak" on his initial visit, that there was no charge, and he wished me "a good move." I have nothing but good comments to say about James and his team. They are knowledgeable, competent, pleasant, reliable, and honorable. I would recommend Universal Homes Solutions without hesitation.

The project went very well. The crew showed up on schedule and completed all work specified in the contract. The repaired areas look as good as new and blend well with the existing soffits/fascia. Overall, I am satisfied with the work and would use James and his team in the future.

They were very professional on the phone. I was pleased with the response time. It took about a week and a half to get the work scheduled done, but the initial contact was next day. It wasn't urgent and roof work is always subject to weather delays. Everything looks great and the scope of work they included in the Big Deal actually exceeded my expectations.

They showed up on time and finished quickly. Work looks great, very professional. Had some shingles missing and they put new ones in at no charge. Very reasonably priced. Will use again.

James crew showed up when expected in the morning. The repaired & painted the fascia and gable ends before installing the new guttering. They completed the job about 5p. They did an excellent job on the fascia repairs. The crew was very courteous and professional. We would not hesitate to call James again if we needed any repairs to the guttering.

James did a great job with our gutters and roof repairs- he was very honest about what we needed to get done and the work he did was great! What I most wanted to share, though was that a few months after the work was complete, an animal "attacked" our gutters and ripped off the extenders and drug them across the yard. When we called Universal to see if they could do the repair work, they not only came out to the house to fix two gutters but did so free of charge. We were very impressed with the way the situation was handled! Would highly recommend James and Universal Home Solutions to anyone for gutters/roof work! Fair price (we got 3-4 quotes) and good work overall!

James' team was very thorough. I called another company as well who would've been cheaper but they would've only cleaned the gutters and nothing else. Parts of my gutters were pulling away from the house which they secured. They checked the entire roof to make sure everything was secure. He sealed the flashing around the chimney. I was very pleased with the work. The person who did the work seemed to take pride in his work. I would definitely call them again.

It was good. I can't see what he did. He didn't talk to me when he left. He just left. He had used my ladder. He didn't offer to put it back inside. I finally got him to come back and put my ladder inside because it is a real heavy duty ladder and then I had a another problem that he has sent his men out to look at. They took pictures of it. They were going to send me the pictures and possibly do the job and they never suppose gave them. I called him once and he said he would contact me again. Again I took a lot of time to show him the issue. They said that they had done that before so it really weird because I paid right away. It wasn't a big deal but I appreciated him doing it. I was very disappointed that his men seemed very interested in doing this other job for me and then I called him then he said he would get back to me and he has never gotten back to me.

They had more response than they thought to the deal I already had the job done. They were very nice and refunded the deal. He was very polite and courteous and apologized for not getting there sooner.

Well, it all went great! We couldn't be happier with his work and his prompt and very professional services!! He did a super job!! I thought his prices were excellent considering the amount of work he did. He was do quickly as well. It took about 2 1/2 days.James is super polite and it was a pleasure having him do the work for our home!

James has been watching the roof for several years. He had done some minor repairs of specific problems because it was old. But it was still serviceable and he recommended we try to get a couple more years out of it. When we were having some furnace work done in the fall, the furnace man noted some problems with the roof and we had James come out and take another look. He said it was time, so we had him do the install with new gutters. He used top quality Owens Corning shingles. The appearance is great. It took a couple of days to do our complex roof, and it generated a lot of trash, but when the crew finished the cleanup, there wasn't a speck of trash or a stray nail to be found. The contract allowed for extra charges if he found hidden damage to the roof, but he found none and we paid exactly what we had agreed. James has done other work for us repairing a sliding door, fascia, woodpecker holes in the siding, etc., always with professionalism and courtesy at a reasonable price. He is a superb roof diagnostician in that he can spot the problem and provide a fix the first time. He is honest and won't recommend repairs that don't need to be done, e.g., he won't charge your insurance company for storm damage if there is no storm damage; we had a lot of drive-by offers from other companies to get the roof replaced for free! For the past several years, I have not gotten estimates for home repairs, I just call James. I don't know whether he is the least expensive, but if it did cost a little more, I think trust and quality are worth something.

It was a turn key job including plumbing, electrical,carpenter and brick masonry work. All was done on a rush basis as my closing was changed to be three weeks earlier the scheduled. James is very professional and I will miss not having him in Ohio.

James and his crew were responsive, professional and the quality of the work was outstanding. I originally thought the estimate was high but after waiting for a couple of months in order to experience some heavy rains, the results were worth it. Overall they exceeded my expectations. I strongly recommend this company for gutter maintenance and repair. I will definitely call them when it is time for gutter replacement.

The gutters were starting to separate from the fascia board on my house due to a combination of clogged up gutters, shingles that were cut too short by the builder, and poor quality fascia board that was swollen up from excess moisture and rotting. James came out to give me an estimate and I liked him right away. Although I was already aware of most things that needed fixing, he was very thorough and honest in answering my questions. He showed me other problems that I was not aware of and explained in detail how they could be fixed. For example, there were areas along the garage roof line where the gap between the roof framing and the fascia was more than it should be, along with shingles that were cut too short. Since the gaps were too large in some areas for standard pre-cut flashing to be used he explained how they could fix it by installing custom bent metal drip edge. He reviewed all the problem areas around the exterior of my house in detail, how they would be fixed, and he did not try to sell me work that wasn't necessary. A few days later I received his written estimate for the work we discussed and I was very pleased as his written estimate was the most thorough I had ever received from a contractor. I had several contractors come out prior to James and many of them had not even bothered sending me an estimate. The other contractors that did send me an estimate were mostly overpriced and/or their estimates were usually not detailed enough to tell exactly what was included in the price, which can lead to surprises down the road. James sent two of his crew to work on my house just a few days after finalizing the contract. They were here for two solid days and the quality of their work was outstanding. They were easy to communicate with, courteous, and did not rush their work. They were neat and cleaned up the work areas well at the end of each day and hauled off all the debris. James is very customer focused and his main concern is to make sure his customers are happy from start to finish. I have already recommended him to a few friends and will continue to do so.

Repaired as he estimated and charged less than he estimated. Prompt reply with honest and professional service. Highly recommended!

I tried to set up 3 appointments with roofers, some thru Angie's list ,others from neighbors. James from Universal Home Solutions was the ONLY one that answered his phone, talked to me about my situation and set up an appointment, that day. James was a likable guy and had a very easy going way about him. We went up to the attic to look at the leak and discussed the remedies. What we found was the vent stack was the culprit. He gave me a resolution and a really fair price for his services. The week that we met was a very cold week and it did require an extra day before he could send somebody out. The repair guy came out, knew exactly what he needed to do and got to it. All in all, it was a pleasant experience and one that I wanted to share with you all. I would not hesitate to recommend James and Universal Home Solutions to even the most discriminating customer. Thanks James

The gutter guards worked for the most part. There was one area where the water kept leaking out that had to be fixed a few times but it looks good now. There was another area where the water was rushing over the gutter guards. James told me this was due to the design of my roof. He came up with a solution to divert some of the water into another downspout, which seems to have fixed the problem. While there were a few problems initially with the gutters, James worked with me to make it right. I would use Universal Home Solutions again.

Great service. They were prompt in calling back, got the job set up. Quickly and did an outstanding job. Very easy to work with. They went and checked other areas that I had not thought about. They sent pictures and did the work on the spot. I am so glad to find a competent company with reasonable prices.

James very thoroughly inspected our overhangs (even on our second story), explained exactly what they would do, and gave me an estimate that was accurate and less than other providers. He and his team arrived as promised, did the work quickly and efficiently, and cleaned everything up well. In addition, we had another drainage problem four months later. James came by within a few days of my call and suggested a creative solution that we had not thought of. He is very knowledgeable in this area. His crew quickly completed the suggested work. I would not hesitate to call on James and his company UHS for any roofing, gutters and related work.

I thought that all I needed replaced on my roof was three boots around the pipes. He quoted me about $300 over the phone. They found others when they came out. He just added $75 to it. He patched a couple holes in the roof that I didn’t even ask him to do. They were great. They were punctual and did what they said they were going to do; they did more. The price was very reasonable.

This company responded promptly to our initial contact and came out to our home. They quoted a reasonable price for the proposed repair. Ultimately, we did not use them because one of the other companies we called made the simple repair (for free) during the course of their initial inspection.

Very professional, did a great job on instaling the new cutters

We have a very steep roof on our home and when we had a new screen porch constructed by one of the top deck and screen porch contractors in Charlotte in December, 2012, the roof was built to match. This particular contractor is also one of the highest rated contractors on Angie's list. Unfortunately, the one piece gutter system that was placed on the roof does not work with a roof as steep as ours . The water rushes down the valleys and right over the gutter cover, down our windows and onto the ground. I had a concern that we would develop water damage as a result. This has been a continuous problem since the gutters were installed. When I contacted our contractor in the spring of 2013, the first time I noticed the problem, he did send a crew out to assess my concerns. Needless to say, the problem wasn't resolved. The last time I contacted him this past summer, I explained that the problem was continuing and suggested that the style of gutters his company was using isn't suited to a steep roof. He thanked me for the feedback and said he would pass that concern on to future customers. I interpreted that response as ' thanks for your business , but I can't do anything for you'. I, therefore, contacted 3 other Angie's list members and asked for estimates to solve the problem. One gave an estimate over the phone, site unseen, and two came to my home to review the situation and provide estimates. I chose Universal Home Solutions. James' crew came sooner than anticipated, removed the gutter covers and replaced them with Leaf Free Gutter covers. They also put deflectors at the end of the two valleys on the porch. Since we haven't had a heavy rain since the new covers were installed, I can't tell for sure whether these efforts will solve the problem. I know for sure, it can't be as bad as it was.
