I am extremely pleased with the job that James Drummond and his workers and sub-contractors. Our roof looks great. The deck looks really good. The siding looks good. The gutters are looking good. The air conditioner's combs are straighter. James came by himself to pick up loose nails that the roofing crew might have missed. He made sure he was here to meet with the insurance adjusters. He diagnosed the problem and promptly fixed it. I liked that he took digital before and after pictures so that I could see the problem and what he had done about it.

Their Angies Listing says they perform 24x7 emergency service. Well I had an emergency over the weekend, and never received a call back from them. Obviously this company is a 9 to 5 M-F service provider, so they should eliminate this 24x7 emergency service indicator in their listing. If you have an emergency, call someone else.

From start to finish, the experience with Universal Home Solutions was exceptional.

I noticed after purchasing our three year old house that the back gutter would overflow with heavy rains. I contacted Universal Home Solutions in April to provide a quote on installing a gutter guard system. James was friendly on the phone and seemed to know his business, but it too several more calls to actually get him to finally come out in June. The contractor cleaned my gutters and took measurements for the gutter guard quote. I still waited two more weeks and after another phone call finally received a quote. A week later James came out to provide samples and to choose the best color to match my shingles. A week later we finally had them here to install the leafslugger gutter guard system. Two people including James worked from 9 am until 12:30 pm and did a good job installing the product. However it took too long to get them to respond and the price was high. I would not use them again.

i have absolutely no complaints. every aspect of the job was A+. it rained the next day and all is working perfectly.

He was wonderful. He was supposed to do the roof too but the insurance man said I didn’t need it so he just did one part of the gutter. He was friendly, I thought the price was excellent, and he kept in touch with me to see when he could schedule it. He seemed prompt and honest. It was good work for the money. The cleanup was perfect; you’d never know he was here because he didn’t leave behind any scraps or anything. The quote he gave me is exactly what he charged in the end.

I purchased the Big Deal then received an email from the company a bit later stating that they were scheduling 3 weeks out. Today (05/19/2011) around 12:30 p.m. I heard a lot of noise out in front of my home and up on my roof and my 5 large dogs were going crazy. I checked outside and saw a strange truck with its doors open sitting out front. There were no signs on the truck but someone had a ladder up the side of my home. I really should have called the police as my home did look as if no one was home, but instead I stepped outside and confronted the man. He introduced himself as being from this company and said they were there to clean and tune up the gutters. I informed him that he should have scheduled an appointment as I have 5 large dogs, two severely special needs and two injured and the work could not be performed today. I told them to get off my roof and leave my property as well as issue a credit for the Big Deal. I checked my phone and saw that the man from this company had phoned at 12:22 p.m., probably from my driveway and left a message that they would LIKE TO SCHEDULE a time to perform the work. Not that THEY WERE IN MY DRIVEWAY / ON THE ROOF STARTING the work. If a company can't take the time to schedule the work in advance, it is not a company I will do business with. I asked to have my money refunded. I would prefer to not give them an F grade, but N/A was not an option for an Overall Grade.

Overall, a very good experience. James was very professional and very very patient with my husband and me working out the final details of the job. He came back to the house several times to go over the details and show us shingle samples. We had to wait a couple of weeks to start the job, but that was Mother Nature's doing - totally out of anyone's control. James was on site every day the crew worked. The job was done in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. The day the roof was finished we had strong storms - not a leak in sight - not even around the tricky chimney area (great job re-doing that - the correct way!). The day the gutters were finished Mother Nature stepped in again and gave us more strong storms. The gutters, oversized downspouts, and Leaf Slugger gutter protection system work GREAT. No more gutter overflow! I liked the fact that James makes the gutters himself on site and also does the installation. During installation of the guards, he stopped when it got too hot so as not to compromise the new shingles. This meant they had to come back one more day to finish, but doing the job correctly meant not rushing. I was very pleased with all aspects of this job - professionalism, quality, cleanup, and price. Quality was my number one priority, but James' quote was also the best of all I received.

James was both friendly, professional, and easy to deal with. The whole process was virtually painless. He came out the same day and emailed a detailed estimate of what needed to be done to keep the water from pouring out of the back gutter over the french doors in one section. They came out the next day to do the repairs once I let them know I wanted them to do the work. The back gutter had to be removed and about 20 feet of wood supporting it had to be refastened and secured because the gutter was sagging and then the gutter had to be refastened. We waited for it to rain again and I am happy to say that there is no water leaking out of my back gutter. James knew exactly what needed to be done and everything looks great. Thank you, James!

James and Eddy arrived at our home on time after calling to let me know they were on their way. They introduced themselves and verified the reason for our call. After describing the problem, James changed into clean shoes to a**** the damage from inside our home while Eddy began inspecting the damaged area. It was at this time that it was determined that the damaged area had repair attempts in the past that actually created more problems. It was during this visit that it was determined that 75% of our gutters were improperly hung and that areas of caulk along flashings were incomplete. James emailed my husband with a contract and date to begin work. James and Eddy arrived on time and with all the equipment needed for the project; however the damage was most extensive than expected and they were only able to do the roof repair that day. The contract amount was adjusted to reflect on the roof repair that was done that day. James emailed my husband and a new contract and work date was arranged. Again, they arrived on time, brought an extra worker and were well prepared to do all the work listed. They were efficient, professional with a good sense of humor, and very productive. The repairs were done successfully and they even replaced burned out flood lights while on the ladders. Would I use this company again, DEFINITELY! James communicates well both with email and over the phone. He and Eddy are both very good at explaining what needs to be done and exactly how they plan to do the work. They cleaned up my flower beds of all debris and hauled it away. When they needed something, they were very polite in asking and were very careful not to track dirt and mud into my house. I was very impressed with this company in every way.

I called James in the morning and he said he would try to get to my gutter after he completed the current job he was on. He called late in the afternoon, as promised and came by. He and his worker were able to reattach the gutter quickly and professionally.

I found Universal Home Solutions on Angie?s list. Prior to having a membership to Angie?s list I had used two different people to try and fix two leaking areas on the gutter over my back porch. One was a gutter company and they made the leak worse and the other was a handyman service who failed to correct the problem and stopped returning my calls. From the moment I contacted Universal the experience was super. First of all James immediately answered the call and came the next day to give me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable and James was highly professional. He then sent me a written estimate and contract in an extremely timely manner. He arrived to do the work on time and was incredibly efficient. Once he took my old gutter down he found that he would need to do some additional work behind the gutter. He did that and did not charge me for the unforeseen additional work. A few days after the work was done we had a big rainfall. Usually I am being hit in the head with water from the leaks but finally the problem has been solved thanks to James and Universal Home Solutions. Universal is the only company I will use in the future. In fact, I recommended them to my neighbors as well.

James sent me a good estimate for fixing these repairs. We knew that it would be a wise decision to have James and Eddie come back to make the necessary repairs on the roof and gable eave. A couple of days before we had strong winds that loosened the siding and cold weather that loosened the caulking. We also noticed siding had moved on the eave. We could see the blue styrofoam underneath it. The builders had only attached it with styrofoam and the air vent and siding was fastened only with caulking and two nails. Eddie told how he had fixed problems like that before. Eddie put a couple of nails and recaulked it so that it wouldn't blow away before they returned with materials to fix it in January 2011. On January 14, 2011 James replaced the collar on the pipe and caulked it and made sure the roof shingles were flat. He straightened the shingles around the other pipe and caulked them. James, Eddie, and Kevin worked on fixing the gable eave. Kevin nailed a 2x4 on the roof to anchor a ladder for Eddie to climb on to take off the errant siding and vent. Eddie added 2x4's to go across the space inside the house structure. James and Kevin cut the plywood to meet the dimensions needed to fix the space. Eddie nailed the plywood down securely. Kevin cut the tar paper. Eddie covered the plywood with it. The tar paper will protect it from getting wet and/or moldy. I was excited that Universal Home Solutions gave a 10% Discount for Angie's List Members. Hip Hip Hooray. My husband, Carl and I are very thankful that we found Universal Home Solutions through Angie's List. We trust James to do quality inspection and necessary repairs for our roofing, gables, and siding for a very reasonable price. On another occasion, Universal Home Solutions did an outstanding job on gutter inspection and repair for us. James, Eddie, and Kevin took pride in their work and used professional skills and workmanship for us. I highly recommend Universal Home Solutions. James Drummond is a man you can trust.

James and Eddie did the repairs listed. They also detached a strip of gutter at the back of the house that was crooked. They reattached it to the house so that it was level. I thought that was outstanding service to notice that it was crooked, first of all. Secondly, to fix it without adding to the estimated cost. They fixed the area where it had been leaking by caulking the gutter or nailing to fascia where needed. One of my drains had been eroding an area near the front right hand side of our home. I asked them to bring an extension tubing to the drain so that it would stop eroding the dirt around the foundation. James told me how to add dirt in the spring so that it would keep the foundation covered. James told me that a couple of the gutters were stopped up a little. That tells me that I need to get them checked every year or two. He said he would come to check them and clean them out for a $100.00 when I wanted them cleaned. While they were here, they also checked the roof and the eaves. We also noticed siding had moved on the eave. Put plywood at the top of the eave and cover with tar paper, so it wouldn't be loose and blow away. Eddie put a couple of nails and recaulked it so that it wouldn't blow away before they could return after the new year to do the repairs as we were going out of town. A pipe on the roof's collar had split sides and needed to be replaced. I saw a few shingles around another pipe that didn't look flat like they should. James sent me a good estimate for fixing these repairs. We knew that it would be a wise decision to have James and Eddie come back to make the necessary repairs on the roof and eave. My husband, Carl and I are very excited to find Universal Home Solutions through Angie's List. We were happy to find someone we could trust to do a quality job of fixing the maintenance problems for our home. James and Eddie sincerely cared about us and our home and did everything they could to make the necessary repairs to make it safe and free of leaks at an affordable cost. Services were provided on time, with clear explanations of what they were going to do and how. The provider was professional and delivered with quality.

Everything was handled very well. From the 1st time I called them they were very responsive, very professional, personable and did excellant work. We are very happy with the end result.

I had some problems with a lot of water going over the side of the gutters instead of all of it going down the spout. I had 2 estimates & although James came in a litter higher than the other one I went with him because he seemed more thorough & boy am I happy I did. After looking at the gutters he recommended cleaning out the gutters, replacing the nails with screws, caulking all the seams & pointed out what looked like a rotted facia board that he would replace & repaint. The day of the appt it was raining but James showed up anyway & we walked around the house & he pointed out the things he would fix. He then got on the ladder & with it raining could see that the guttter in the front of the house was sagging a bit & said he would reposition the gutters so they would drain properly. He promises to come out the next day if it wasn't raining. Luckly the rain had stopped & he made all the repairs he promised but when he went to replace the facia board he realized it wasn't rotted but had peeling paint & needed to be nailed back into place. He painted that area with the paint I provided & even did some additional touch ups in other areas & the best part is he took $100 off the estimate because he did not have to replace the board. James is terrific. He called the next day to tell me everything that was done & was a dream to work with. I would & have recommended him to anyone who needs gutters.

We originally used James a couple months ago to repair some issues with my mother's house. When we noticed a leak at our own house, we called him to come out to assess and fix it. Again, he completed the repairs quickly, efficiently, and to our 100% satisfaction. It's raining right now, and there's no longer a leak! Thanks James. :)

There was significant work that needed to be done, and he completed it all quickly and professionally. He's also very trustworthy, and I felt 100% comfortable with him. Plus, he's a cool guy! We give him an A+, and would definitely hire him again.

James and Eddie were punctual, tactful, competitive in price, and professional. I even noticed that they went the extra mile to make sure that all materials were picked up before leaving the job site. I would recommend their services to everyone who wants a first grade service. They arrived when they said they would and finished the project in the same day with no overruns. James and Eddie recommend that we use over-sized down spouts with a leaf screen. The were even able to tie the down spouts into our existing French drains. So far, we've been very pleased with the upgrades. We will be calling them soon to install a rain barrel and the water diverter kit.
